I dropped her lightly on the bed and crawled on top of her, our legs intertwined. I began to unbutton and unzip her jeans and she did the same with mine. I pushed her hand away. “Not yet,” I whispered before playfully biting the soft skin of her neck. I pulled down her pants, revealing a pair of red lace panties and something made me know that she’d put them on while thinking of me that morning.

Once she was completely naked, I kissed her breasts and then moved down to her stomach and finally, I separated her legs and flickered my tongue against her clit. She moaned deeply and I took a second to grin at her. I wanted her to know that I was going to enjoy this as much as she was.

She tasted like fresh rose petals and vanilla. I pulled her legs apart as I went down on her, eager to make her scream. She wrapped her legs around my shoulders and I pressed two fingers inside her while my tongue worked away at her clitoris. Her moans were getting louder as I worked harder and harder to please her.

I could feel her grip me with her legs as she began to orgasm. I wanted to make her come more than anything and I knew she was enjoying herself when her moans increased and her voice began to shake.

I didn’t stop until I was sure that she had climaxed fully. I then gave her some space to catch her breath. I pulled away and moved upward and kissed her on the lips once more, feeling her whole body shaking beneath me.

Her hands went down to my belt again, and this time I let her unbuckle it. She went on to undo my buttons and zipper, and I got up onto my knees to help pull off my jeans. As soon as they were off, my erection sprang to life. A smile curled its way around her face and I could tell that she was excited about what was going to happen.

  Chapter 8: Megan

He was larger than I’d expected, but not too large to be attractive. As he pulled off his underwear, it really came to life. It was clear that he was extremely turned on. As was I, even though I’d only just climaxed. I reached over and took him in my hand. He groaned as I began to rub his cock up and down, very slowly… building up anticipation.

When I was sure that he couldn’t wait any longer, I sat up and pushed him down on the bed and climbed on top of him. I lowered myself onto his hard cock and gasped as I felt all of him inside me. I kissed him deeply and then began to ride him, slowly at first, but soon I built up a rhythm. His hips were moving up and down in time with mine, and our voices mixed together with my moans and his deep groans.

I took complete control and he let me. This was something new to me. I wasn’t used to being in control in the bedroom and I liked it. As I could feel we were both getting closer to orgasm, I grabbed his shoulder and pulled him up so that I was sitting on his lap. I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him as he groaned.

We were both moving as fast as we could, almost overwhelmed by the pleasure that we were experiencing. Soon, I could feel his body stiffen and his movements become more urgent, like his life depended upon it. I screamed as I came at the exact same moment that I felt him come inside me.

We both collapsed, breathless and glowing, in a heap on the bed. He held me loosely in his arms and kissed my forehead gently. I could feel his body completely relax as he fell asleep in my arms. I, on the other hand, had a sudden burst of energy, even though I could still feel my whole body shuddering.

I lay with him for a while before I decided to get up, my legs barely able to walk. I liked the feeling; it was like an afterglow from the most amazing sexual experience I think I’d ever had at that point. I went into the kitchen, suddenly very hungry, and checked to see what ingredients I had to make dinner.

I put on some music, not loud enough to wake up Pete, but loud enough to dance around the kitchen to. I was in the best mood I’d been in for a long time. All the tension that had been building up over the past year had disappeared. I could see my reflection in the hallway mirror and I was glowing.

I put together a simple pesto pasta that I was sure Pete would appreciate when he woke up. Just as the food was about to be ready, I could hear him getting up and looking for me. Soon, his arms were around me and he kissed me on the neck.

“I was worried that you’d disappeared on me,” he whispered.

“I would never do that,” I said softly and turned my head to kiss his jawline. “You hungry?”

He grinned that lopsided grin of his and I dished him up a plate. We sat down together at the kitchen table and ate our dinner. I was happier than I’d thought was possible. Pete was so amazing and special. When I was with him, I wasn’t scared or tense or worried about anything. I’d never been with someone who made me feel as carefree as he did. I wasn’t terrified of upsetting him or saying or doing the wrong thing, the way I always was with Tony.

I hated that I was thinking about Tony at that moment. But he’d controlled my life for so long that it was almost impossible to believe that I was fully free of him. But I was and I was happy… or, at least, that’s how I felt right then and there.

We ate in comfortable silence, both of us dishevelled and barely dressed. I was wearing his T-shirt, which came down to the middle of my thighs, and he was wearing nothing but his jeans, which he hadn’t even bothered to button up.

After we’d finished eating, I took his hand and led him slowly back to the bedroom. I just wanted to be entangled in his body all night, or for as long as I had him to myself.

But before we could even reach the bedroom, the doorbell rang. “Ignore it,” I whispered to Pete and we kept moving. I thought it could only be Kimberly. My parents never came over unannounced and there was nobody else in my life who would be visiting. But then the person started banging on the door and I knew exactly who it was.

“Megan, I know you’re in there. It’s Tony. Open the hell up,” Tony shouted.

I cringed, feeling all the tension returning to my body. I couldn’t believe that he was there. Why did he have to show up when I was finally happy with someone else, when I finally felt like I had control over my life again?

The banging continued. I looked up at Pete and he looked confused.

“I’m sorry,” I said softly. Even as I moved toward the door, I could feel the fear and anxiety returning. “I’m really sorry,” I reiterated as I looked back at him. Pete just stood there, not really knowing what was about to happen.

As I opened the door, Tony looked at me, wearing nothing but another man’s T-shirt and his face twisted into that angry look that I’d seen too many times.

Pete stepped forward, obviously sensing that this could turn ugly.

“Who the hell is this?” Tony growled, pointing aggressively at Pete.

“He’s… that’s Pete and he has every right to be here,” I said.

“Really? Did you just forget all about me?” He turned to Pete. “Did she tell you she’s engaged?”

  Chapter 9: Pete

She’s engaged. That last thing he said rang in my ears. She couldn’t be, I thought to myself. She wouldn’t do that. Would she? I couldn’t believe it.

“I was engaged. This is Tony. I told you that I’d tell you everything when I was ready… but I guess I don’t have that choice anymore.” Her voice was shaking and I just wanted to pull her close to me and hold her until she felt strong again.

But before I could even think of doing anything, Tony barged in and grabbed Megan’s arm. “What the hell are you doing? Do you know how worried I’ve been? I gave you the space you asked for and this is what you do, this is how you treat me?!” There was a vein throbbing in his forehead and I could see that his fingernails were leaving a mark in her skin.

“Get away from her,” I yelled at him. “You’re hurting her!” I could feel the rage rising in my body.

He let her arm go. “I would never hurt her. I love her. That’s why I’m here. Because I made a promise that I would never leave her… no matter what. And this is how she treats me?”

Megan looked from me to Tony and then back again. Her face fell, and she looked confused and sad. There was a moment of silence and then she tur
ned to me and said softly, almost inaudibly, “Maybe you should go. I’ll call you later. Just let me sort this out.”

“I’m not going anywhere. I can’t leave you with him. Look at him. He’s about to punch a hole in the wall. I think he’s the one who should leave.”

Something changed in Tony’s face and within a few seconds, he was on top of me, throwing punches left, right and center. I held him off and threw a punch myself, which landed on his jaw and knocked him back. After a struggle and a few more punches, we both ended up lying on the floor next to each other… just in time to see Megan run out of her own home.

Tony got up to run after her, but I hit him back down. I wasn’t a fighter, but I would do anything to protect Megan and I was realizing that very quickly. I got up quickly and went after her myself. I kept checking behind me to see whether he was following me, but that last knock seemed to have kept him down.

I didn’t know which way Megan had gone and so I just sort of ran in any direction. It was a small town, after all. After about an hour and a half, I felt like I was losing my breath and I happened to be right near the tattoo parlor. I fished the keys out of my pocket and went inside, turning one light on and leaving the rest off.

I didn’t know much about Tony, but I knew that he’d upset Megan. And I knew that when I hit him, I’d upset her too. I just wanted to know that she was all right. I picked up the landline phone and called her cell on the off chance she’d managed to grab it before she left, but it just rang and rang.

I didn’t know what to do, but all I wanted to do was protect her. I must have been sitting there for about 20 minutes, just trying to think of where she could be. Suddenly, there was the silhouette of a woman at the entrance of the tattoo parlor and I knew that it was her. She just stood there for a moment and I could feel her eyes on me. She was still wearing my T-shirt and nothing else.

I ran to the door, opened it, and asked her what I really wanted to know more than anything else. “Are you okay?”

“I will be… I think. Are you?” she responded slowly and deliberately.

“I’m fine as long as you’re okay,” I said. “I just want to make sure that you’re all right. I know you must be scared.”

This time she started walking toward me. She turned on the main light so we could see each other clearly.

“I think it’s time I tell you about Tony.” I nodded and she continued, “He was my MBA advisor for a few months, but as soon as we started seeing each other, I made an excuse to move to another supervisor. From the first date, things were intense with him. He’d want to know where I was every second of every day. When I’d complain about it or get irritated, he’d tell me it was because he cared about me so much and I should be grateful that he loved me to that extreme. I didn’t realize how dangerous that was.

“Every time I had doubts about his behavior, he’d find a way to confuse me… to make me think I was the one who was acting strangely or being ungrateful. He’d convince me that I loved him the way he loved me… I can’t explain it, but it was like he controlled my mind and my emotions. Every time I tried to leave, he’d manipulate me into staying and feeling bad about trying to get away. I’d even apologize like it was all my fault.

“When he proposed, I didn’t even feel like I had a choice. I felt stupid and immature for having doubts about him. Why wouldn’t I want to be with him when he loved me so much? Eventually, it all got too much for me. I knew that he was following me and checking my phone to find out where I was at all times. But I knew that if I tried to break up with him, he’d just make me feel like I was confused again. So I wrote him a letter and decided to move back here without saying goodbye. I never in a million years thought that he’d come after me, but I should have guessed that he would.”

  Chapter 10: Megan

I stared at the floor as I spoke, too scared to see the look on Pete’s face. I was sure he would be upset or disappointed in me. But when I finally worked up the courage to meet his eyes, there was only kindness in his face.

“Did he ever hurt you?” he asked, his voice soft and caring.

“Once or twice, by accident… or at least, that’s what he’d say. He’d get worked up and throw things around. One time, I got hit by a chair and another time a glass smashed and part of it hit me. I just thought it was just passion… I didn’t know any better,” I replied. “I’m sorry,” I added after a long, heavy pause.

“You shouldn’t be sorry. You’ve done nothing wrong. It’s him who is the bad guy, not you. And you don’t owe anyone an explanation, not even me. But I’m glad you told me. I want you to know that you can tell me anything. I want you to know that no matter what, I’ll never treat you like that. I care more about you than I ever thought possible.”

I hesitated and then responded, “You scared me back there when you hit him. I can’t be with another violent guy, I just can’t. Tony scared me from the moment I met him. I couldn’t understand why I always felt so anxious when I was around him. I didn’t even know that was a problem until I met you. I fell for you because you’re sweet and gentle… because you’re a good person and I thought I could trust you.”

“You can,” he said gently as he got up and came closer to me. “You can trust me never to hurt you. That, what happened back there, I’m not proud of that. But I swear it was just to protect you. I would do anything for you… but never anything to you. I’m not a violent guy. Hell, I think that’s the first time I’ve ever hit someone.”

I let the silence fall between us. And then I stepped forward into his arms. “I believe you.”

He kissed me and suddenly I knew that everything would be okay. I knew that I could be the person I had been earlier that evening; I could be happy. And, most of all, I knew that I could trust him with my heart. Pete was nothing like Tony.

After a while, he spoke again. “I know we’ve only known each other for a few days, but I swear I’ve never felt this way about anyone before in my life. All I know is that I want to be with you, be around you, and make you happy. You are the only thing in this world that matters to me. I didn’t think that was possible. I didn’t think I could ever feel this way about another person… but I do. All I want is to make you happy.”

“You do make me happy,” I said. “So incredibly happy. I didn’t think that anyone would ever treat me as kindly as you do. I thought that to be in love, it had to be intense and overwhelming, but I know now that that’s not the case. All I want is to be with you.”

  Epilogue – Megan

Tony left Florydale after Pete and I got a restraining order against him. After the university found out about his relationship with a student, he was fired on the spot. Rumor has it that he now lives alone on a ranch in Texas… but nobody really knows and nobody really cares.

Pete and I kept dating for a few months, but we knew that we were meant to be together forever. Shortly after we moved in together, we got married. I didn’t want a big wedding at all, so we got married at the courthouse with very little fuss. The only thing that mattered was that we were together.

I finished my MBA with top marks and started my own online business empire at the age of 26. I travel around the world for work, but I always come home to Florydale and my loving husband.

Pete finished his apprenticeship and Tommy was so impressed with him that he offered to share his space. They now own the tattoo parlor together and every now and then, Pete will go on a tour to tattoo conventions where people will pay almost anything for one of his amazing designs. Tommy prefers to stay in Florydale with his wife, the owner of the bakery.

After we’d been together for two years, I got pregnant with twins. Pete was so happy that he almost fainted during the ultrasound. Nine months later, I gave birth to two beautiful baby girls, who we named Holly and Jade.

Kimberly finally met her match with a man named Kevin who was on vacation in Florydale from LA. They quickly fell in love and soon Kimberly moved to LA to be with him. They’ve been happily married eve
r since and are the godparents to our twin girls. They visit as often as they can.
