  Chapter Six

  Sean

HE WAS lounging by the pool, enjoying the warmth of the sun, when a shadow fell over his face.

  “Do you mind?” Sean asked.

“Yes,” Mal said, making Sean quirk an eye open to look up at him.

Mal was wearing a pair of very tight speedos that left nothing to the imagination. Not that he needed to imagine anything. He knew every inch of Mal’s gorgeous cock.

He ran his gaze over Mal’s mouthwatering body, then met Mal’s eyes. The desire-filled gaze staring back at him had him licking his lips as blood rushed to his groin. Mal’s lips quirked at the corners. He crawled onto Sean’s sunchair. Thank fuck the thing was sturdy as hell. Mal straddled Sean’s lap and put his hands on Sean’s chest. Sean ran a hand up Mal’s left thigh.

  “How’s the leg?”

“Peachy,” Mal said and lowered his head, putting his lips on the side of Sean’s neck. Sean let out a groan and slid his fingers into Mal’s hair. Mal kissed his way down Sean’s chest, paying special attention to his nipples. Mal swirled his tongue around one nipple then moved on to tease the other. Mal grabbed the waistband of Sean’s swim trunks and Sean lifted his hips to help him pull them down. When they were off, Sean bent his knees, putting his feet on the lounger. Mal licked his lips and lowered his head to lick a path from the base of Sean’s cock to the head. Sean let his head drop back, a “fuck” falling from his lips when Mal sucked his cock into his mouth. Mal took him to the back of his throat over and over. Sean moaned and bucked his hips, almost choking Mal. Mal put his hands on Sean’s hips to keep him still. Sean cursed and pulled on Mal’s hair to get him to move faster. Mal, of course, wouldn’t listen.

  “Mal. Please,” Sean gasped.

Mal looked up, his stunning blue eyes filled with hunger. Mal brought his fingers to Sean’s lips. Sean opened for him, sucking on his fingers like he wanted to suck Mal’s cock. He got Mal’s fingers good and wet and then Mal removed them and brought them to Sean’s entrance. Mal circled his hole but didn’t push inside. Sean cursed him, which made mal pull off of his cock.

Sean groaned and dropped his head back on the sun lounger.

“What was that?” Mal asked teasingly.

Sean lifted his head to glare at Mal. “Just suck my dick and shut up.”

Mal let out a low chuckle and rubbed his stubble against Sean’s inner thigh. Sean hissed and bit down on his lower lip. Mal’s eyes were dark with want as he took Sean back into his mouth and pressed a finger inside him. Sean’s grip on Mal’s hair tightened as his mouth fell open on a gasp. Mal added a finger, making Sean’s toes curl.

  “Fuck. Mal,” Sean whimpered.

Mal fucked him with his fingers at the same pace he was sucking his dick. Mal twisted his fingers, hitting Sean’s prostate and it was all he needed. Sean yelled as he came, his orgasm barreling through him. His fingers slipped from Mal’s hair. While he panted for breath, Mal pulled Sean’s trunks back into place. Then Mal crawled up his body to put his mouth on Sean’s. Sean groaned and opened for Mal, tasting himself on Mal’s tongue.

  “Up,” Sean ordered.

Mal stood and Sean sat up, swinging his legs over the side of the lounger. He reached for Mal’s speedos, pulling them down and freeing Mal’s impressive erection. He lowered his head to lick off the pearl of precome on the tip. Mal made a guttural sound Sean immediately wanted to hear again. Sean ran the flat of his tongue up Mal’s cock, then swirled it around the head before taking that delicious cock into his mouth. He wanted to drive Mal crazy. Make him lose control.

He looked up at Mal and when Mal met his gaze, he pulled off him to say, “Fuck my mouth.”

Mal grabbed a fistful of Sean’s hair and tugged him back toward his cock. Sean grinned and opened his mouth for Mal. Mal thrust inside, his cock hitting the back of Sean’s throat every time. Sean breathed through his nose and thanked the gods he’d worked so hard on his deep-throating skills when he was younger because seeing Mal like this was a much bigger turn-on than he’d imagined.

From the sounds Mal was making, Sean knew he was getting close to he doubled his efforts, sucking harder and taking Mal deeper. Mal’s fingers tightened in Sean’s hair and his mouth fell open on a silent gasp as he came. Sean swallowed every drop, his eyes never leaving Mal’s. When Mal was all spent, Sean let his cock slip from between his lips. Mal tugged his speedos back into place before crawling onto the lounge. He put a knee on either side of Sean’s thighs and lowered his head to kiss Sean. Mal slid his hands up the sides of Sean’s neck to cup his cheeks. Their tongues tangled in a lazy and sweet kiss. A shrill sound made them both jerk back. Sean stared towards the house with wide eyes and it took him a second to figure out what was going on.

“Fuck. That’s the alarm,” Sean said.

Mal pulled off him and grabbed the gun lying on the small table next to the lounger. Sean got up a bit slower, unsure of what to do. He was dangerously close to freaking out. He followed Mal into the house, hating that he didn’t have any kind of weapon on him.

They were in the hallway when Mal stopped and held up a hand. Sean glanced around Mal, his gaze landing on the big mirror in the hallway a bit further down. He could see into the living room and caught sight of someone walking through it. He was headed towards the kitchen, a gun in his hands. The gun had a suppressor on it, so he was pretty sure the man was there to assassinate them. The dumbass was definitely in for a surprise.

The assassin caught sight of Mal in the mirror and shot at it. The mirror shattered, the shards flying all over the place. Sean threw himself down, staying close to the wall. He glanced up to see Mal charging towards the assassin. He had a few cuts on his back but none that looked too bad.

He didn’t know where Mal’s gun had disappeared to but the next time he saw Mal he was fighting with the assassin, trying to get the gun out of the man’s hands. Mal slammed the man’s hand against the wall, making him drop the gun. They fought, ending up on the floor and rolling further into the living room. The assassin got on top of Mal, but he used his legs to kick him off and jumped to his feet.

The assassin got up and pulled a mean-looking knife, swiping at Mal. Mal ducked and grabbed the man’s hand, twisting it to make him drop the knife with a pain-filled howl. Mal pushed the man a few steps back and picked up the knife. Mal slashed it at the assassin when he went for Mal again and cut him across his forearm. The man stumbled back, leaving a trail of blood on the floor.

“Fucking hell. Don’t you dare get blood on my things,” Sean yelled at Mal.

Mal apparently had time enough to glare at Sean before returning to his fight. The assassin managed to land a kick to Mal’s side, making him stumble. The assassin went for Mal who threw the knife at him, but he ducked just at the right time, making the knife fly across the room and straight into a wall. Sean whimpered. He’d just gotten that fixed. Mal’s cry of pain had his gaze jerking back towards them. Sean stood on unsteady legs, walking closer to the men, desperately trying to find a way to help Mal. He glanced down, his eyes going wide when he saw the assassin’s gun lying just a few feet from him. He ran to it, the sound of flesh hitting flesh making him cringe. He picked up the gun and turned towards the two men.

“Mal,” Sean yelled and slid the gun across the floor.

Mal jerked his gaze toward Sean, then turned and kicked the assassin’s legs out from under him. Mal tucked and rolled, grabbing up the gun and twisting just as the assassin reached him. Mal pulled the trigger, shooting the man once in the head. Sean slapped his hands over his ears while cursing. Even with the suppressor, the gunshot was really loud. Mal didn’t seem as affected as him, though he’d been a hitman for years, so he probably had hearing damage already.

“What the fuck just happened?” Sean yelled.

His voice didn’t sound shrill at all. Nope. It did not.

Mal got up off the floor and walked to Sean, stopping in front of him. He cupped Sean’s face in
his hands.

“Easy, baby. You’re okay,” Mal said.

Sean sucked in a shaky breath and held it for a few seconds before breathing out. Mal brought Sean against his chest and Sean held on tightly as he fought to calm himself. Once he succeeded, he pulled back, looking up into Mal’s worried eyes.

“So, what the hell is going on?”

Mal made a face and said, “Remember when I showed up with a bullet wound?”

Sean arched a brow at Mal. “It’s pretty hard to forget when it was only two weeks ago.”

“Yeah. Well, the guy who shot me is dead and I’m pretty sure this one is a friend of his,” Mal said.

“Let’s see if we can find out,” Sean said and walked to the man on the floor.

He whimpered when he saw all the blood still seeping out of the guy. He crouched down next to him. He patted him down and made a triumphant sound when he found a phone. It was locked, though. He pulled a face but reached for one of the guy’s fingers and used it to unlock the phone.

  “I’m in,” Sean said.

Mal walked up next to him and watched as Sean searched through the messages. The newest was from a contact named Boss. It looked like it was a group message. There were mentions of an assassin which Sean assumed was Mal but then in one of the last messages, Boss told someone to take the biker.

Sean jerked his gaze up to meet Mal’s.

“Bones,” Sean said. “Fuck. We have to warn him.”

  Mal nodded. “Let’s go.”

  Mal

The cuts he’d gotten from the mirror shards were superficial, but Sean had insisted on looking them over. He didn’t want to waste any time so apart from cleaning the cuts quickly, he didn’t do anything about them. They got dressed as fast as they could. Sean’s alarm system wasn’t connected to emergency services for obvious reasons, so at least they didn’t have to worry about that. His neighbors didn’t seem to have heard the gunshot either. Or maybe they just knew not to question anything coming from Sean’s house.

He grabbed the car keys and went outside, waiting for Sean to lock up before making his way to the car. He drove while Sean repeatedly called Bones. The dumbass wasn’t picking up, which didn’t bode well for him. He kept throwing glances at Sean. He wasn’t sure how the man was doing. He seemed to be taking everything quite well, but he knew how much the last time someone attacked him in his home affected him.

“Bones? These guys who are after Mal showed up at my house. Made a bloody mess of it,” Sean said into his phone and threw Mal a glare.

He was so gonna hear about that blood for a long ass time.

“Yeah. But they must’ve seen you when you stopped by because they’re coming for you, too.” Sean listened for a second, then burst out, “I’m sorry, you’re where?”

Sean turned his troubled gaze on Mal and said, “He’s twenty minutes away and Em is home alone.”

They could be there in five minutes if they didn’t run into cops on the way. Traffic wasn’t too bad, and he could weave between the other cars easily. He received a few honks and raised middle fingers, but he barely noticed. Sean gave him directions to Emery’s apartment building. He took a sharp turn into the parking lot and threw the car into the nearest parking space. They were out of the car and running towards the door the next second. Sean led the way up the stairs but when they reached the apartment, Sean let Mal take the lead.

The door was closed but when he pushed down the handle, the door swung open. They could hear someone yelling from the kitchen and hurried in that direction. What they walked into was not what he’d expected. Not at all.

A man was lying on the floor, a woman holding a frying pan standing over him.

“How. Fucking. Dare. You,” she yelled, punctuating each word with a whack of the pan.

Mal holstered his gun and took a step closer just as she noticed him. The woman aimed the pan at Mal.

  “Stay back, asshole,” she said.

Mal fought a smile as he raised his hands. Sean pushed past him and walked towards the woman who had to be Emery.

  “It’s okay, Em,” Sean said.

“Sean,” Em said, relief stark on her face.

She lowered the pan and when Sean walked up to her, she wrapped her arms around him. They hugged for a long time before Sean stepped back.

“Is he dead?” Sean asked and pointed at the man on the kitchen floor.

Emery shrugged and said, “Don’t know.”

Mal shook his head and walked over to the man. He crouched down and checked his pulse.

  “He’s alive,” Mal said.

Sean snorted. Mal stood and turned to raise a brow at Sean who was pointing at him.

“You, Mister deadly assassin, got shot by one of these dumbasses, while Em took one out with a frying pan,” Sean said, laughter in his voice.

Mal crossed his arms and glared at Sean. It wasn’t the same. Not at all. He was just about to tell Sean exactly that when he was cut off by the front door slamming open.

“Emery,” was yelled from the hallway and then Bones came running into the kitchen.

“I’m fine. I promise,” Emery said.

Bones wrapped his arms around her and crushed her against his chest.

“Fucking hell, Em. You scared the shit out of me,” Bones said against the top of her head.

Emery pulled back to kiss Bones, then say, “You don’t need to worry about me. I’m awesome.”

Bones dropped his head back with a chuckle. He cupped Emery’s face in his hands, a smile teasing his lips.

“We’re never telling your brother about this,” Bones said, a serious expression falling over his face. “I don’t wanna die.”

Emery snorted out a laugh. “Agreed. I much prefer you alive, too.”

  Sean

Mal and Bones were going to carry Emery’s poor victim out of the apartment. He’d had a set of car keys on him, so they were going to dump him in his car, wake him up, and give him a message to relay to his boss. Sean led Emery to the couch where they sat down next to each other.

“We won’t be long, okay?” Bones said with a smile at Emery.

  “Okay,” she said.

Sean saw the way Emery looked after Bones as he and Mal walked out of the room and raised a brow at her when she glanced back at him.

“So…? What’s that about?” Sean asked.

Emery let out a sigh, shaking her head.

  “I love him.”

Sean nodded and asked, “He’s the guy, right? The one you had to leave behind.”

  “Yeah.”

  “How’s that going for you?”

Emery scowled at him. She leaned back in her seat with a groan.

“It fucking sucks. When he showed up on my doorstep a month ago, every damned thing I’ve ever felt for him just came rushing back with a vengeance. I couldn’t have said no to him even if I’d really wanted to. Not that I did want to.”

  “What are you gonna do?”

“I guess I’ll have to put on my big girl panties and be a fucking adult about it, won’t I?”

Sean felt his lips quirk and tilted his head to the side. “You need a hug?”

Emery thrust her lip out in a pout and scooted closer so Sean could wrap his arms around her. He didn’t know exactly what she was going through, but the thought of losing Mal now that he’d just gotten him, that hurt like hell. He wasn’t sure he’d survive it, but Emery was strong. She’d survived it once. She could do it again.

Emery pulled back, a teasing smile on her lips as she waggled her brows at him. “Is he the guy?”

Sean groaned, throwing an arm over his eyes. Emery poked him in the side, and asked, “He totally is, isn’t he?”

Sean moved his arm to meet Emery’s questioning gaze. “He totally is.”

Emery’s lips spread in a wide smile and she said, “Good for you. I thought you were convinced it’d never happen.”

  “I was,” Sean sai
d and sat up. “It seemed like a fucking dream. I never thought he’d actually want me back.”

“Why wouldn’t he? You’re pretty great, you know?”

Sean felt heat spread in his cheeks and glanced down. “You’re just saying that because you’re my friend.”

  “Duh. But I mean it.”

“I know,” Sean said and looked up to meet her gaze. “But, let’s be honest. I’m not exactly the kind of guy everyone dreams of ending up with.”

“What do you mean? Who wouldn’t want a guy who can make anyone laugh, who’s as loyal as they come, and who makes his own money?”

He didn’t know what to say to that, so he just scooted closer and wrapped his arms around her. She held onto him tightly as he buried his face in her shoulder.

“Thank you for thinking that,” he whispered.

The door opening and footsteps had him pulling back. They shared a smile before they both turned their attention on their boyfriends who’d just walked into the room. Bones’ eyebrows were raised, and he glanced between them before asking, “So what’s the story? How’d you two meet?”

Sean shared a glance with Emery and they both began to chuckle.

“Joker was in town to see Sean, so he stopped by here and, somehow, I convinced him to take me out,” Emery said, a smug smile finding her lips. “We went to this amazing gay club and he hated every second of it.”

“And you loved every second of his misery,” Bones said.

Emery lit up in a bright smile. “Fuck yeah.”

“Coincidentally, I was also out clubbing that night,” Sean said.

Emery snorted out a laugh. “You should’ve seen the look on Joker’s face when he saw Sean.”

“I thought he was choking on something,” Sean said. “Emery loved me, I loved her, and we both love yanking Joker’s chain so we became fast best friends.”

Emery gave him a warm smile and he gladly returned it.

“Joker obviously knows that we’ve met but when we became friends, we decided not to tell him. Even though the Kings work with Sean, I know how my brother would react,” Emery said.
