My heart melted. "That's so sweet."

  "The ‘take no prisoners’ kind."

"Kayden," I warned, not sure where he was going with it.

"You’re the Red Queen. Off with his head," he jested, quoting the Evil Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland.

I smacked him on the shoulder once more. "Kayden!"

  "Hey! See? So blood thirsty."

I grumbled, sinking into the air bed as my muscles relaxed and exhaustion set in. "Am not."

I felt a kiss at my head and Kayden’s arms tightening around me. "My queen," he whispered, "I beg to differ. My heart is in your hands."

"Can’t be hands." I mumbled, half gone.

  He chuckled. "Why not?"

"I only have two." Then I was out. I never heard him tell me that I would just have to learn to juggle.

  Chapter 16

  Tucker

"Tucker!" Van yelled from the front of the garage. I was working a new prototype for my Hot-Rod. I wanted to see if I could beef up my power and speed, hoping to bring it up to NASCAR standards at 850 rpms.

"What?" I growled, annoyed that he was interrupting me. I also had my mind on a certain girl that wouldn’t leave me alone. She was all I thought about. I wrenched another bolt as I thought about her quick wit a few days ago as I ignored my professor brother. She looked so sweet and innocent, but her mouth... I smiled thinking about her off the wall comments; she interested me. Made me want to get to know her. I frowned and wrenched harder as my brother made his way through the garage to find me. I finished my thought, but most of all, I wanted to take Daniels from Tyler McGuire.

"Tucker!" I glanced over at him, but I didn’t stop working.

  "What?!" I barked.

"How in the hell did the Scarlet King snake get out?! Truth, Tucker and not some BS about how you don’t know. And I want my key back."

I shrugged, and looked up to him with a grin as I reached into my pockets to produce his key, "I wanted to impress a girl. He got loose."

His eyes narrowed as he took it from me. "Next time don’t use my animals to do it."

"I need her to trust me."

"You can’t do this Tucker. You and your friends should stay away from Tyler. Nothing good will come of it. You lost, man. Let it go.

"No," I growled, my eyes flashing to his. "No, I won’t. She was mine, Van. Mine. I want her back."

My brother's eyes held pity as he shook his head. "You shouldn’t... She’s not..." he sighed, "She’s not yours, man. Not anymore. This obsession will be the death of you."

I shook my head. "How can you say that? How can you just let her go like that? She’s all I have left. All we have left, and you’re just going to stand aside and not even try!"

"You’re the one that made the bet! You’re the one who lost her." He sighed, tired of it all, but I wasn’t. She meant too much to me, to our family. "It’s been two years, Tucker. Grow up. Find another one. It’s time to move on."

With that, he left me. I kept working. How could he just walk away from her? From so many memories. I couldn’t forget her, not when I saw her. Every. Fucking. Week. I wanted her back.

I sat back and wiped down the car part I held, trying to remove the grease. Tyler had never had anyone serious in his life, but now he had a girl.

Maybe it was time to move on.

Maybe it was time for a new bet. A new game plan.

I like Daniels. I could use her to ease the pain and to get even. I looked at the photo that hung up above my tool box as thoughts raced through my mind. The possibilities. I might even get what I wanted back. What once was mine. I rubbed at the grease spots on my prototype, staring at the photo of what I desired more than Daniels. Her.

  Author Bio

I love to write! I have been writing since I was young

(Maybe not long in this subject), but I enjoy it.

Raised in an adoptive family of ten, there were seldom secrets between us siblings.

I thrived on finding out their secrets they did keep and embellishing on a few.

That's where my writing came in and my imagination went wild.
