The Lost Love: A Single Dad & Virgin Nanny Romance (The Hudson Brothers Series - Book 1) Page 11

Megan stirred awake and slowly, her green eyes sleepily fluttered open and a lazy smile spread on her face and the sight of it sent a rush through my veins and before I knew it, I rolled on top of her, matching her lazy smile with one of my own. “Hello.”

“Hmm,” Megan murmured when I dipped my head and began kissing her neck, my teeth grazing against her collar bone as her thin hand slipped through strands of my hair. “Milo...”

I chuckled and then pushed the blanket that wrapped around her and my eyes hungrily trailed over her body, the sight alone hardening my cock. “Fuck, so beautiful.”

She was looking at me with hooded but lust-filled green eyes and she didn’t say anything but she began to push herself in a seating position. She gently pushed me so I was on the bed again and I wasn’t sure what she was doing. But Megan crawled on top of me, her hand gently massaging my hard erection and I closed my eyes at the feel of her warm hand on my dick, a low growl coming from me when I felt her nails running gently on the length, sending a shiver down my spine at the feeling of her touch.

Megan positioned herself in front of my dick and I watched as her slender body moved down gracefully, swift platinum head moving downwards and I gasped when she took my entire length in her mouth, moving slowly at first. “Shit, Megan, stop teasing me.”

She giggled and then her hands were on my balls, squeezing them together and rubbing her hands against them while her head moved in a quicker speed and my hands slipped on my hair, running through the strands as I closed my eyes in pleasure. “Fuck, yes. Do it faster, baby.”

But Megan didn’t move quicker than she did, instead, I felt one of her hands wrapped slightly around an inch of dick and squeeze and that was when I came and Megan pulled away at just the right moment and my cum was all over her face and she laughed, her hands touching my seed and then lathering them all over her body.

She stood up and grabbed a towel from her dresser, wiping herself away and then jumped back in bed with me. I wanted to return the favor but when I moved on top of her, she placed a firm hand on my shoulder and chuckled. “Go back to sleep, Milo. You can still catch a couple of z’s before work.”

And just like that, her eyes fluttered to a close again and I stared at her as she began to lightly snore beside me and I wondered if all of it was just a dream. Maybe it was a sensual dream that happened because of last night but as the minutes ticked by and I continued to stare at Megan, the more it dawned on me that it was all real and I couldn’t fall back to sleep again no matter how much I tried so I slipped out of the room and headed into mine, slipping on my gym shorts and shirt and then putting on my running shoes.

I used to run daily when Rebecca was still alive. It was our morning routine. I would run for an hour and get back and she would just have woken up and have finished making coffee and then she would go for her run while I showered for work. She’d start preparing breakfast and I’d help and then I’d change into work clothes and wake up Violet. It was a simple morning routine and on occasions that it rained, we would end up having sex. Well, it kind of stopped for a while though and after she died and I found out about her affair was the only time I realized that she stopped wanting me because she wanted someone else.

The cold morning air hit me in the face hard and I shivered, wishing I brought a jacket with me for the run. I set my earphones in place and started a slow pace, trying to train my brain to stop thinking about last night or the epic blow job I just got from Megan this morning. It was hard to wrap my mind around the fact that a sweet and positive woman like her hid a sexy vixen but I wasn’t really complaining because last night was...

I stopped running for a minute and sighed, wiping away the sweat on my face. I wasn’t sure how far I’d gone from the house but the reason why I decided to run was to forget about what happened between Megan and I but she was the very person on my mind. I took a seat on a bench and pulled out my phone. Last night, I told Leo I would give him a call but I completely forgot because well...

Scrolling my contacts for his number, I called him. He answered on the third ring. “You know I’m not a morning person, right?”

“Were you sleeping or were you about to?” We used to say that Leo was nocturnal. Growing up, he always slept in on summers and weekends and holidays and was wide awake at night, spending most of it in his dark room, developing photos he took.

He sighed and I could hear him shuffle quietly. “I fell asleep early because your daughter’s here with me. By the way, you didn’t call last night right?”

Scratching the back of my head, I replied, “No. Didn’t get the chance to...”

Even if I couldn’t see him, I could hear the smirk in his voice. “Because you were busy fooling around with the hot nanny? Why won’t you just admit that there’s something going on between you two, Miles? I’ve made out with a lot of women and I know what a made out woman looks like and when you two got in the restaurant, Megan looked flushed and had swollen lips.”

Sometimes, I hated how smart Leo could be if he wanted to. “I’m not getting your point, Leo.”

He laughed. “You’re not denying it so that means you’re sort of confirming it.”

“It’s a one-time thing,” I said, trying my best to sound breezy.

Leo guffawed on the other line. “One-time thing with a person living in the same roof as you will never remain as a one-time thing, Milo.”

I played with the strings of my shorts. “You know that I’m not planning on getting in a relationship again, Leo. Ever.”

There was silence on the other line. My brothers were aware of the affair but they couldn’t really hate Rebecca since she was dead and there was no point in hating a dead person. But they also weren’t the biggest fan of the idea of me remaining single for the rest of my life. “I wasn’t going to tell you that you should fall in love with her, Miles, but don’t close your doors on the concept of what romance could offer you.”

I sighed and ran a hand on my hair, leaning on the bench and staring up at the slowly brightening sky. “Remember to bring Violet to the soccer field, okay? And swing her by the house early so she can get ready early.”

There was a part of me that had a feeling that Leo wanted to say more but chose not to because I wasn’t in the mood to discuss my love life since it was the very thing I was running from. Literally. “Alright, Milo.”

“Tell Violet I said good morning and I’ll be in the next town later tonight. I’ll talk to you later, Leo.”

“Okay, Miles,” Leo said and before I could finally hang upon him, he added, “oh and Miles, Rebecca made a bad decision. I just hope that you’re not making a bad one either.”

He ended the call and I stared at my phone, closing my eyes and sighing. When I get back home, I wanted to pretend that nothing happened between Megan and I because I wasn’t going to entertain the idea of being with someone again. After what Rebecca did, love was nothing but a fraud concept meant to break people’s hearts. What happened between Megan and I was fun last night and it had been a while since I had sex but that was just it.

  It was just sex.

And I needed to remind myself that I wasn’t going to let it happen again. I ran back home, repeating the thought over and over again in my head and it didn’t even occur to me that I was on my top speed and I suddenly burst into the front door, panting and heaving and trying my best to catch my breath.

I heard footsteps come into the living room and I looked up and my words were caught in my throat when I saw Megan. Her platinum blonde hair was tied in a short ponytail and she was wearing nothing but the dress shirt I had worn yesterday. She looked down on herself and a faint blush painted her cheeks and I swallowed.

“Sorry. I woke up late and realized that you had work so I had to make breakfast...hmm...” My lips were pressed firmly against hers and I backed her up against the wall, my hands cupping her waist and I was desperate to feel the heat of her skin again beneath my palms. I bit her lower lip and she gasped, giving
me access to her mouth.

I pulled away from her and kissed her neck, opening the top buttons of her shirt to begin kissing beneath her neck and ultimately sucking on her collar bone, wanting to leave my mark on her skin. Megan’s hands were all over my body, moving from my arms and then dipping inside my shirt, her palms grazing my hard stomach.

“Milo,” Megan breathed my name and I gasped when her nails dug in my back and my mouth latch on her breast and a free hand cupping and massaging the other one.

Time stretched as we made out in the middle of the living room until the fire alarm began to beep and Megan gasped, my mouth on her neck and she moved her head to the side and suddenly pushed me away. I was in a daze as I followed her in the kitchen and it took a moment for me to realize the smoke coming from the pan she must’ve been cooking and I helped her diffuse the small fire and opened the doors to let all the smoke out.

“Damn,” Megan muttered, leaning against the counter once we’d successfully managed to put out the fire. I learned by her side, a part of me still a tad bit daze at the intensity of how we just made out in the living room. “I’ve never had to put out a fire in the kitchen my entire life since I began cooking.”

I looked at her and Megan was staring at the stove in complete and utter shock. I nudged her shoulder with mine. “Then I guess that’s a first.”

There was a moment of silence that stretched between the two of us and Megan pushed herself in an upright position and began to ruffle through the cupboards and then finally pulled out a box of Fruit Loops. She looked at me and shrugged. “We don’t have anything else but this. We ran out of Lucky Charms yesterday.”

I chuckled and then grabbed the box of cereals from her, grabbed the milk from the fridge and Megan pulled out two bowls and spoons for us to use. We sat across from each other on the counter and I poured her a portion of her cereal and then pushed it to her. “This is better than nothing. I used to skip breakfast for a while because when Mrs. Barrymore would arrive, I was already off to work.”

Megan ate a spoonful of Fruit Loops and then looked at me and winked. “I would’ve whipped you up a hearty breakfast but you’re going to be late for work.”

I glanced at the bowl filled with colorful rings floating on milk and shrugged. “I can’t say I really mind this that much.”

There was a moment of silence between the two of us and Megan quietly munched on her cereals and I couldn’t stop myself. I knew staring at someone else was rude. My mother always told us to never do it but I couldn’t stop staring at Megan. She was beautiful in a lot of ways and for a fraction of a moment, I could hear Leo’s words reverberating in my head.

Don’t close your doors on the concept of what romance could offer you.

Megan looked up at me, her green eyes filled with sudden confusion. “What?”

I shook my head and smiled slightly. “You okay with this?”

For a moment, Rebecca flashed in my mind. “If we end up together, you better make sure I’m not going to have cereal for breakfast my entire life, Milo.”

“Baby, I’ll cook waffles for you every morning until I’m physically unable to. I’ll even cook it better than Julian’s.”

Megan looked at the bowl in front of her as I did too. She looked back at me, unsure of what my question meant. “Sure am, why wouldn’t I be?”

Again, I responded by shaking my head. We finished our food and Megan told me that I should get ready while she was going to wash all the dishes and the burnt pan. I told her I’d helped but she refused. When I was finished getting ready, I could hear the shower going on in the bathroom downstairs and I knocked on the door and told her that I was going to work.

By the time that I got to my car, it was in that fleeting moment that I realized that this was what could be if I let it.

  If I let it.

But it was just sex and making out.

  Chapter 13

  Megan

“What do you mean we’re not going home yet?” Violet asked as she buckled herself up in the backseat. I was just getting into the passenger seat of the truck and was about to shut the door when she said that. Her game had just ended and we had lunch with the rest of the team and were about to head home. Milo told Violet that she had to ride with us because apparently, we weren’t going home just yet.

Milo put the car in reverse and lightly removed his foot on the clutch as he looked at his daughter briefly and then at the back as we reversed out of the parking space of the diner we had lunch at. “Well, since it’s a Saturday and tomorrow’s Sunday, I thought that maybe we could have a little fun. I’m sure you wouldn’t be up to have another practice play since you’ve been doing it the entire week and I wanted you to have fun.”

Violet looked at her Dad with playful narrowed eyes that I can see through the rearview mirror. Milo braked and then put the car on the first gear as he began to head to the main road. It was nice to see the two of them interacting this way and it was fortunate that Violet didn’t harbor too much hatred on her father. I was glad that Milo decided to try now because if he did it later, he would have a much harder time with his daughter.

“Will you tell me where we’re going?” Violet asked and I notice how she was putting on her charm. I couldn’t help but laugh. She would do the same thing with me whenever she suddenly craved a certain snack. But Milo knew his daughter well and only smirked, his gaze fixed on the road. Violet pouted and then turned to me. “Megan? Do you know where we’re going?”

To be honest, I didn’t know that Milo had any plans after the game. Last night, we arrived just an hour before dinner and after staying out and playing with Violet, we retreated to the room we had to share and slept on two separate beds because we were too tired. We didn’t even get the chance to talk about what happened between the two of us.

I had initially planned on talking to him during breakfast yesterday but he came in and swept me off my feet and crashed his lips against mine and we ended up in a very heated make-out session that was cut off by the fire alarm. We ended up eating cereals and it was too comfortable to just ruin the mood and on the entire ride to the next town, Milo was asking me about my life and my family and my old job.

I didn’t want to ruin the atmosphere that we were in. I wanted to bask in it as much as I could because I liked it. Because I liked being with Milo in that way. Because it made me believe that maybe he was actually interested, that maybe this could turn into something more. I honestly thought that he was going to pretend that nothing happened but he came back and we ended up making out heatedly. I was aware how much Milo wanted me that night. He was aware how much I wanted him that morning. But what remained unknown for the two of us was if the other was willing to go further.

I kinda wished Milo was willing to go for it.

The rest of the ride to Milo’s secret destination was filled with Violet recounting the game over and over to us and her bus ride and her singing along to Disney songs that ended with me and Milo singing along with her too. Finally, Milo slowed down the car and Violet had her face pressed to the window excitedly.

“An amusement park!” Violet cheered and looked at Milo with wide eyes as he parked the car. “But you never allowed me to go to amusement parks!”

I was surprised at this and I looked at Milo. He had put the gear on neutral and then pulled the handbrake up. He unbuckled his seatbelt and looked at Violet. “Your Mom never wanted you to go to amusement parks because the rides always scared her.”

“Aren’t you scared of her safety?” I asked, unbuckling my own seatbelt.

Milo pursed his lips but the corner of it twitched into a smile. “I’m right by her side. She’s going to be safe no matter what.”

When I glanced at Violet, I could see that she was trying not to cry but she unbuckled her seatbelt and was ready to bolt out of the car and run to the entrance so I had to be quick to catch her hand. The three of us entered the amusement park and Violet was squealing between Milo and I, thrilled of the aspec
t that we were going to spend the rest of the day here.

Violet begged to get on practically every ride that would allow kids her height to ride and it got to a point that I had to opt out because my stomach could no longer take it. Milo and her kept going and it was great to see the two of them in fits of giggles every time I met them at the exit gate of the rides they went on together.

“Daddy!” Violet’s glee was clear in her voice and she pointed at a game that gave stuffed animals as prizes. I spotted the pale blue penguin and knew that it was the one she was pertaining to. She had been watching baby penguins on YouTube sometimes whenever I asked her to behave so I could clean around. “I want that one!”

Milo looked at Violet and nodded, playfully puffing out his chest and the two of them headed to the basketball stall. Milo paid the guy who was manning the stall. He was only meant to shoot about 5 consecutive baskets and he gets to choose what prize he could win. He had 2 minutes to do it and Milo- unsurprisingly- effortlessly shot the ball in the basket but the timer was still going and he turned to me briefly and winked.

Holy shit, did he just wink at me?

But this time around, he only got to balls in until the timer rang. Milo made a face and shot the ball he was holding and I watched it as it swooshed in the net. Violet got the blue penguin he wanted and Milo was holding a small stuffed elephant. “Here.”

He was handing me the stuffed elephant and I looked at him. Shyness glinted in his gray eyes as I stared at the toy and Milo was refusing to look at me straight in the eyes. “I can’t...it’s Violet’s.”

“I only wanted the penguin, Megan,” Violet interjected, giving me a toothy smile, “and besides, you told me you liked elephants.”

I wasn’t entirely sure what to say but Milo pushed the elephant against me and then told Violet that we should get some corn dogs since he was hungry. I stared at the plush object in my hand, running my palm on the soft velvety texture of it. Violet and Milo were already a short distance away from me and it took me another moment to register what just happened.
