Renee's Mates Page 5

by Shelley Munro

Matto disrobed, his gaze on her the entire time. He lacked shyness and kept going until all he wore was skin. She eyed his broad, hairless chest, the flat male nipples she couldn’t wait to taste. His ridged stomach and abdomen cried out for feminine fingers to explore while his erection drew her close attention—thick and perfect.

Anticipation curled through her stomach as they fell into each other’s arms and dropped onto the bed. Her pulse raced in excitement. Eagerness. Matto claimed her mouth, and Renee sank into the pleasure, emptying her mind of fear and doubt and anxiety. She teased the tie from his hair and tangled her fingers in the black, silky locks.

  Sex.

She loved the physical pleasure, and if a man knew his way around a woman’s body, even better.

Their tongues tangled while hands wandered, caressed and bodies pressed closer. Matto pinched one nipple through her bra before pushing the cup down to bare her breast. His mouth fastened on the hardened peak, and he sucked, drawing a moan of delight from her.

Matto slipped his hand behind her back and the tightness of her bra loosened. He drew the straps down her arms and tossed her bra aside. Her panties followed, stripped down her legs with brisk efficiency.

“Do you have condoms?” she asked.

“A box.” His eyes gleamed with mischief. “We won’t run out in a hurry.”

His mouth cut off her bark of amusement, and she sank back into a world of sensations. Arousal ripped through her and dampness seeped between her thighs.

  “Now,” she demanded. “Now.”

“I don’t want to hurt you, sexy lady.”

“You won’t. I’ve been imagining this throughout dinner.”

“A woman who knows what she wants.” He parted her legs with his thigh and lifted her butt. Seconds later, his mouth and tongue danced along her slit. A finger slid into her channel, working in concert with his tongue teasing her clit. He curled his finger and stroked her inner wall. For a second, nothing, then he hit the perfect spot.

“Matto.” Her voice trembled as he pushed her higher, faster. She shuddered while his talented fingers massaged and played her like an instrument. His mouth closed over her swollen clit. When she expected a hard suck, he gave her gentleness. Spot-on pressure. She soared and swooped, freed from everything except the pleasure of the sensual frolic.

Her nub prickled, and when he rubbed that special spot again, the blissful sensation bloomed, spilling over to rapid pulses. Her channel flexed and grasped his finger. A moan escaped her, and Matto eased away. He rose up her body and kissed her. A passionate kiss. A tangle of tongues.

Renee rubbed against him, dazed with joy and relaxed under his touch. His cock brushed her stomach and left a damp trail.

Matto parted their lips and reached to open a drawer. He pulled out a condom, his gaze never leaving hers as he rolled the latex onto his shaft.

“Ready?” he asked in a husky voice.

“Yes.” She smiled at him, eager to experience the stretch of his possession. A large man, every part of him was in proportion.

He pushed inside her with one steady thrust. The faint drag of flesh grounded her, and she writhed against him in a silent demand for him to move.

“There is no hurry, sexy lady.”

But he withdrew and slid back with a sigh of contentment.

  “Aw, Renee. You—this is perfect.”

Renee slid her finger between them and rubbed her clit. It was tender, still swollen, so she used the gentle strokes she knew would arouse.

  Matto laughed.

  “What?”

  “You’re not shy.”

“Learned the hard way. If I don’t grab what I want, I’ll miss out. Not all lovers are created equal.”

“That’s true. Hold on,” he ordered and increased the pace of his strokes. “Move your hand so I can change my angle.”

  “Bossy much?”

“I know what I want,” he promised. “I’ll get you off again, even if we don’t get things perfect.”

“Deal.” Renee removed her hand and slipped it around his neck, holding him close and searching for his mouth. Their kiss set her on fire, enjoyment spreading downward and outward. Matto withdrew and thrust hard. He grunted and stilled. A small burst of pleasure came and faded, but she savored holding Matto as he climaxed. His big shoulders trembled, and he claimed a possessive kiss.

“Thank you, sexy lady.” He remained in place but lifted his body a fraction. He stroked her nub, driving her high with excellent precision work. She groaned as she came again, her pussy grabbing greedily at his cock. As the sensations tailed off, peace flooded her busy mind.

“I like a man who knows what he’s doing.”

  “A high compliment.”

Her happiness spilled over to a grin. “Yes.”

Regretfully, they had to move, and Matto pulled from her body to remove the condom.

“I should go,” she said, aware it was getting late.

“What time do you need to start work tomorrow?”

  “Eight.”

“Stay. I’ll make sure you’re up in time to grab your work clothes and have a quick breakfast. Please, I’d like you to stay the night.”

Renee hesitated. “Most men prefer to get rid of a woman.”

“You shouldn’t compare me or my brothers to other men. We’re different.” He met her gaze, his brown eyes serious.

Renee scrutinized his features, seeking truth. After working and living in close quarters with men, she’d become an excellent judge of reading people. Matto meant every word and the tension that had slid stealthily into her shoulders released. “If you’re sure.”

“I am.” He stood to pull back the bed covers. “Get in before you catch a chill,” he ordered. “I want to hold you.”

She stared, waiting for a hoot of laughter, a joking aside. It never came. Renee shook herself, confused. No, that wasn’t the correct emotion. It was more an off-balance sensation whenever she spent time with Matto. The twins had ruffled her mood in the same way, raising wariness instead of determined calm.

  “Renee?”

Heck, she hated to invite questions. She slid between the cool sheets, shivering now that the physical pleasure of sex had retreated.

Matto switched off the light and joined her in the bed. His arms came around her, and he nuzzled her neck. He nipped her without warning, making her jump. An instant later, his tongue soothed the spot, and the ache faded, replaced by a sizzle of pleasure.

“You must be tired. Go to sleep, sexy lady. I promise to wake you for work in the morning.”

Fatigue pulled at her after her restless night the evening before. Her mouth stretched wide in a yawn, and Matto’s chuckle rumbled through his chest. It was the last thing she remembered before she slid into sleep.

Matto dozed throughout the night, happy yet disturbed because of his brothers. He’d bitten Renee. Not a full bite, but he suspected it was enough to leave a physical sign of his intentions.

Dakota and Kansas might object because they wanted Renee. Calian had already admitted she’d piqued the interest of his wolf. And Misty… Well, he hated to imagine her reaction.

Matto supposed he could share, and that might be a fair outcome. He should’ve waited, discussed the matter with his brothers. He should’ve explained the truth to Renee because he and his brothers refused to go through life like Misty, keeping secrets. All of them wished for honesty with their mate.

Yet, despite knowing this, Matto didn’t regret his actions. He’d gone with his gut. One thing he was ninety-nine percent positive of was that Misty was wrong about Hunter having an affair with Renee. Although Renee hadn’t named Hunter, she’d started to and stopped. Matto believed her explanation—that she’d never slept with her fellow soldiers because of gossip and potential work conflict. Hell, maybe she’d hung out with Hunter because of his marriage. There must’ve been things Hunter couldn’t discuss with Misty while Renee had lived the same events.

  At half six, Matto
shook Renee awake. “Hey, sexy lady. Time to wake up.”

She came awake instantly, one of those people who went from sleep to full consciousness in seconds flat. Tension slipped through her body, tightening her muscles.

“Renee, it’s almost time to move. You need to get changed for work.”

Her gaze drifted to his lips. With his wolfish senses, he saw her focus, despite the darkness in the room.

Immediately, blood flowed into his dick. “We have time for a quickie—if you want.”

“Perfect way to start a day,” she whispered, leaning closer to kiss him.

Her confidence, her lack of concern about body image or morning breath thrilled Matto. He let her take the lead, merely blinking when she rolled from his arms and clambered on top of him.

  “Condom?”

  “Foreplay?”

Renee snorted, making his amusement break free. “Shouldn’t that be my line?”

“I enjoy exploring and seducing a woman. Pain or discomfort during lovemaking is a crime.”

“You’re not into rough stuff? Spanking?”

Matto reached for a condom before he replied. “I’ll spank you any time you like. Other kink? Sure, I’ve tried stuff. Multiple partners—that I enjoy.”

“Hmm.” Renee accepted the condom from him, opened the foil packet and had it rolled down his cock before he blinked. Then, she clambered over him and took him inside her warm body. This time was even faster than last time. Renee set a frantic pace, her hand burrowed between her thighs as she stroked herself to orgasm. Her slight breasts bounced. Her eyes squeezed shut. She hummed as she found the perfect angle, her lips curving in satisfaction.

Matto stared. In this moment, her beauty shone through. While others might not consider her beautiful, her intelligence and honesty and inner goodness did it for him. Renee James was a dangerous woman. Dangerous to him, at least. She’d already made him lose his head, and now, she’d lay siege to his heart.

Renee squeezed her internal muscles around his shaft, and a moan of pleasure escaped him. Now focused on one thing, Matto gripped her hips and urged her to speed, to take him harder and deeper.

He came in a quick rush, the pleasure searing his balls and forcing semen from his cock in a blissful torrent. He cried out as Renee’s channel squeezed his shaft, extending his enjoyment.

Long seconds later, she fell forward and his arms wrapped around her shoulders.

“The perfect way to get the blood pumping,” she murmured.

Her plain speaking and comfort with her body made her unusual. Most women fussed about their hair, their makeup, their excess pounds. Renee was such a refreshing change.

“Would you like to shower here?” he asked. “I can rustle up a T-shirt and sweatpants for you to wear back to your place.”

“Yes, please.” She never hesitated. “At this time of the day, I have to fight the guys for the bathroom.”

“All right,” Matto said. “Jump in the shower while I find clothes for you.” He stared after her as she stalked into the en suite and closed the door. Seconds later, the shower started.

Absently, Matto dumped the condom and pulled out a T-shirt and a pair of his sweatpants for her.

A tap at his door had him scowling. His brothers. He knew it without checking. Unwilling to face them yet, he hesitated. A second knock told him if he didn’t answer, things might escalate.

He opened the door. “What do you want?”

Kansas scowled. “Aren’t you inviting us in?”

  “No.”

“It smells like sex,” Dakota said.

  “Yes.”

“He’s not talkative this morning,” Dakota said to Kansas without taking his gaze off Matto.

Calian joined his brothers. “Did you sleep with her?”

  “Yes.”

“Damn fool,” Calian snapped. “What about Misty?”

  The shower turned off.

“Not now. I’ll meet you at the Lanky Moose for breakfast. Order something for me and Renee. I have to run her back to her place to grab work clothes, so leave it for fifteen minutes. That should give us plenty of time.”

“We can’t risk talking about this with her present,” Dakota pointed out.

“Later,” Matto snapped and closed the door in his brothers’ faces.

“Who was that?” Renee asked, exiting the en suite wrapped in a towel. She peered around the room and spotted her bra and panties sitting on top of the T-shirt and sweatpants. “Ah.” She pounced on the clothing. “Thank you.”

“It was my brothers. We’re joining them for a quick breakfast. I asked them to order for us.”

“You don’t have to buy me breakfast.”

“No, but I want to.” Matto strode into the en suite and switched on the shower. A brisk wash later, he was out, and he dressed in jeans, a long-sleeve shirt and a sweater.

Renee clutched her clothes and purse, and stood by the door, chewing on her lip.

“Were you thinking of leaving without me?”

  “Yes.”

Matto picked up the keys for the rental. “Come on. The clock is ticking.”

They made it back to the Lanky Moose in ten minutes. Renee had donned her uniform and given him back his borrowed clothes. Matto presumed the army had given her the ability to move fast and decisively. Once again, he compared her with the women from his past. He couldn’t recall one who wouldn’t have pouted and offered numerous objections about him rushing them.

Matto spotted his brothers at a table over the far side of the café.

“The waitress recommended the special,” Calian said. “We ordered the same for everyone.”

The waitress arrived bearing plates of scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausages almost as soon as they sat.

“See, I told you there was plenty of time for breakfast.” Matto glanced at his brothers and noticed they were gaping at Renee. Or more specifically, staring at her neck where his nip stood out, highlighted by a bruise.

“What have you done?” Calian demanded with big-brother sternness.

Renee frowned at his oldest sibling, not understanding the way the rest of them did.

“Renee, do you know Hunter Kincade?” Matto asked, deciding to shift the conversation. A gamble, but suddenly, he wanted full disclosure. Honesty.

She paled, her knife falling to her plate with a clatter.

  “Renee?”

“Yes,” she said, not giving more information.

It was clear she didn’t trust him or his brothers. Every muscle in her body tensed, ready for her to bolt. Matto decided to give her more information.

“Hunter was our brother-in-law,” Matto said. “He married our sister Misty.”

If anything, the information alarmed Renee even further. She half stood before Matto grasped her arm.

“How did you find me? What do you want?” Her bottom lip trembled, and she blinked. “Did you sleep with me to get information about Hunter?” Now she sounded pissed.

“No! Of course not. That wasn’t why I asked you to dinner. I liked you at first sight, and I wanted to get to know you better. Please believe me. I wasn’t—are not playing you,” Matto said.

“We don’t want to harm you,” Dakota murmured. “All we want is information.”

  Renee swallowed audibly. “About what?”

Matto glanced at his brothers. There was something wrong here. Terror leaked from Renee, a full body tremor and bulging eyes, and that wasn’t what he’d intended.

“Misty found photos of you and Hunter on Hunter’s phone after the police returned his belongings to her. She’s convinced the pair of you were having an affair.” Matto watched her closely.

“That’s a lie,” Renee snapped. “Hunter and I—we never even considered sleeping together. He was my best friend. I told you I never slept with my army buddies.”

“We saw the photos, Renee,” Calian said.

“Were they the ones in the photo booth? You try squeezing Hunter plus me in a photo booth. H
e was huge, and I’m not exactly a shorty.”

“Are you saying Misty is wrong?” Kansas asked.

“I’m saying your sister has a screw loose if she didn’t know how much Hunter loved her. All he discussed the last time I saw him was Misty and his unborn son. He was so excited to become a father. And then a lowlife shot him and…and…” Tears filled Renee’s eyes. “He was my best friend and I miss him.”

Matto squeezed Renee in silent encouragement and gently shunted her back to her seat. “Eat your breakfast. As soon as you’re done, I’ll drive you to work.”

“Why did you change your name?” Calian prodded. “You didn’t make it easy for us to find you.”

  “How did you find me?”

“We talked to your army buddies and your old workmates. They mentioned you’d told them you needed a change and had asked for suggestions of places for work. By a process of elimination, we found you here,” Dakota replied.

“I see.” Renee shoved away her breakfast. “I’m surprised my friends talked to you.”

“They didn’t at first. It helped we were Misty’s brothers, and we could prove she was married to Hunter. We told them Hunter had left you some stuff in his will, which is actually true. Misty was so angry she threatened to toss the items in the trash,” Calian said.

“I need to go.” Renee stood.

“You have time for a coffee,” Matto said.

“You don’t understand. If you’ve found me, others will too. I thought it was safe here. Someone murdered Hunter. I don’t want to end up the same way.”

“Why would you think that?” Kansas asked.

Calian shoved a forkful of eggs into his mouth and swallowed, never taking his gaze off Renee. Matto knew his brothers were weighing every word, and although she’d convinced him, he didn’t think she’d won over his siblings.

“Although the cops couldn’t prove it, they suspect a link between Hunter’s murder and the court case against a Florida crime boss’s son. We both testified from California because of our work commitments. The lawyers agreed to that, but they knew our names. It wasn’t difficult for them to track us down. There was another murder. A woman died two days after Hunter. The cops in charge mentioned she resembled me. They suggested it might be safer for me to relocate. I’m not under witness protection, but they helped me with the name change and with references. Damn it. I like it here. I don’t want to start over again.”
