by Honour Thy Father (retail) (epub)

He had been silent while she thought things out but now he said quietly, ‘All right now?’

She nodded and they went to the pram to look down at their sleeping child.

‘I wonder what sort of parents we’ll be, Phil?’ said Laura. ‘I wonder what Michael will think about us?’

‘Probably at times that we’re great and at other times that we’re a dead loss. Dinosaurs!’ Phil said flippantly, then more seriously he added, ‘We can only do our best and hope that he realises that we’re not perfect but that neither is he. We’ll do our best to be good parents and that’s all anyone can do, Lol. Let’s hope he recognises that.’

‘I’ll see that he does,’ Laura said firmly.

Phil slipped his arm round her waist. ‘I’m sure you will,’ he teased her, and they went into the house laughing.
