Omega Phoenix Page 20

by Layla Heart

Cyra pulls me to the window, the moon giving us enough light to navigate through the room, avoiding obstacles like the bed, without having to turn any lights on. She puts her hand to the window, looking out, her eyes big, filled with joy. “This is beautiful.”

Max appears behind us, I can almost feel the heat of his skin, though he’s mostly standing behind Cyra. “I knew you’d like it.” His voice rumbles happily.

From the corner of my eyes, I catch how he wraps his arm around her, and pulls her closer against him. Her eyes open in surprise as she lets out a barely audible gasp. Then Max’ other hand is suddenly on my ass, squeezing a little and I smack him away.

I might have the hots for him, but this... Nope. He doesn’t get to hold her and then feel me up on the side.

Cyra turns to me slightly, raising her eyebrows.

“Nothing.” I smile, leaning closer to her, kissing her shoulder. “We should probably try to get some real sleep.”

She’s been sleeping the whole time in the car, so I don’t know how sleepy she still is, but it’s also past midnight and we should probably all try to get some shuteye...

Cyra yawns, making Max and me yawn too. “I guess that’s a good idea.” Her cheeks are pink and Max still hasn’t stepped away, rolling his hips more, the perv.

Max now wraps both his arms around her. “I’ll keep her safe, you go find your own room.”

What? “Hell no. I’m not leaving you alone with her. That’s asking for trouble.” I try to slide my arms around her too. “You should go. The others could probably use your help unpacking the car. This was my idea to begin with, you just tagged along.”

Max opens his mouth but Cyra is quicker. “Can you both leave? That way I can actually sleep.”

“No.” Max and I answer at the same time and Cyra rolls her eyes, sighing dramatically.

“Fine.” She breaks out of Max’ embrace. “I’ll just leave, then. Let you two fight it out.”

“Hell no.” Max and I both grab one of her arms and now she seems to start to get annoyed, which is kind of cute.

“Really? What are you? Kids fighting over a toy?” She shakes her head. “Fine. Stay. Just no funny business. I really do want to sleep.” She pulls her arms free and takes her shoes, shirt and jeans off, before climbing in bed. Totally ignoring us.

I look at Max, who’s narrowing his eyes at me. Then, as if we’ve been stung, we both undress to our boxer briefs in record time and dive in bed with Cyra, each on a side.

“See?” Cyra mumbles sleepily. “Enough space for everyone.”

Hmm, hmm. Though I’d much rather spend the time doing something fun, but she’s already asleep and when I cuddle in closer, Max’ arm wraps around the both of us.

I still, and he laughs. “Unless you want to be woken up by a loud thud as I roll off the bed in the middle of the night?” His voice rumbles slightly, a sound I could probably listen to all night.

“I just hope you don’t snore.” I relax. I don’t mind him at all, but I still want Cyra more, and being able to sleep with her in the same bed is the best thing in the world right now.

Cyra, a warm bed and sleep. Yep, this is heaven.

Though, having Max here makes it much more... Much more sexual...

  Cyra

I wake up covered in sweat, my heart pounding and my breathing difficult. It’s dark around me, even though my stomach tells me it must be late enough for breakfast, or even lunch.

Then, as I wake up more, I realise there are more than just two pairs of arms around me, probably about double, some of them in interesting places... Just like I can hear four people breathing... Actually, three breathing and one snoring... Not sure who’s the one snoring, though.

As I try to move, I catch a glance of Zack’s hair on one side. He seems to be asleep on top of both Spence and me at the same time, and with how my other side feels, I suspect Liam is asleep on Max and me. One big pile of bodies, and I’m stuck right at the bottom.

Great... I guess we won’t need multiple bedrooms after all. We just need one big ass bed... And probably a way for me to sneak out from under them...

Liam is the first of the guys to wake up, moving his lips over my shoulder. “Morning...” His voice is a little hoarse.

“Morning.” I try to wriggle out because I need to take my meds and a shower. I need to be fast so my pheromones won’t drive them crazy.

I can already feel my body heating up, but I’m not sure if that’s because I’m surrounded by four very sexy men, all of them in just their boxer briefs as far as I can feel, or because I very clearly remember how Liam made me come, just a few days ago.

“Let me help you with that.” Liam lets out a low laugh and the next moment he shoves Zack so hard that both of them roll off the bed. Two loud thuds fill the room as their bodies hit the floor, waking everyone else up.

“What the fuck?” Zack jumps up, his hair a mess, making him almost look cute, and he’s ready to fight Liam. “Why the fuck did you do that?”

Liam shrugs, like he was acting rationally and not impulsive. “Cyra needed to get out of bed, you were in the way.”

Zack growls and lunges for Liam. Obviously not satisfied with that answer. Spence and Max don’t move much, just watching the other two guys fight and pulling their legs out of the way when they almost crash onto them.

I quickly slip out of the bed while everyone is distracted, trying to locate my bag, which someone put near the door. I grab my bag and then leave the room, hoping to find a bathroom so I can do my morning routine.

The door right across the hall from where we slept reveals a bathroom. Win. I slip inside and lock the door behind me, before taking everything out of my bag.

My pheromone suppressants, enough to last me just under two weeks. My anti-shifting meds, which will last me a little longer, but not much. And then the other things, a cocktail of pills to make my life a little easier. But as I take them, one by one, I’m very aware of the one type of meds that I’m missing. I need to start taking heat suppressants soon. Really soon. And I have no idea how to get my hands on them now, out here.

My toiletries are luckily still almost full. I bought those new two weeks ago. All designed to hide even more of my pheromones, to make me smell even more ‘human’, so no shifter can scent me. Not that it’s much use with these four guys already knowing, but it’s still needed to make sure my pheromones don’t drive them crazy, like they’d done for a few moments at the party and in unprotected moments since. It’s better if they get used to my scent slowly, so I’ll be hiding it for a while longer, until they can handle it without going all ‘grrr’ immediately.

I hear the guys make their way down the hallway as I turn the shower on, their footsteps loud and they’re bickering with each other. I can’t hear what they’re saying, but I can still hear their voices and it makes me smile. This could have worked out worse, my group of mates, at least the guys seem to be able to stand each other, mostly.

Stepping into the shower, I slide my soapy hands down myself, feeling how I’m getting turned on just thinking of them, of their bodies pressed up against mine.

When I woke up, I felt four very hard and sizable cocks pushing against me, and it didn’t leave me unaffected either, even though I’ve got no experience with sex. Fucking hell, how’s a girl going to fit any of them in? Like... Wow...

Electricity soars through my body at the thought of having any of them inside me, their strong body around me, flesh to flesh, filling me up...

I slip my hand between my legs, touching myself where Liam has touched me before, my body getting even hotter. I should really stop playing with myself while fantasizing about the guys. Just not today, not after I woke up like that.

But before I can let my mind wander any further, there’s a loud knocking on the door. “What do you want for breakfast?” Zack’s voice comes through the door, then he laughs. “I’m on the menu, if you’d like...”

  “Fuck off!
” He’s great at ruining a good mood. “Just let me shower in peace.”

“Ohh, touchy. Did I maybe interrupt some personal time? Were you rubbing one out in there? I’ll help you, I’m great at helping, I promise.”

“Go away. Fuck off.” Though, even as I say it, I turn the shower off and wrap some super deluxe fluffy towels around myself. It’s no use trying to extend this any longer, he’ll just get more and more annoying and the mood is gone anyway...

“I’m not sure Max can make a dish called a ‘fuck off’, but I can ask.” Zack laughs and I really want to hit him right now.

“I’d be curious to see what’s in it.” Max’ voice booms through the hallway, he sounds almost amused. “But I’m great at serving a plate of hot ‘kick-ass’ to an irritating Alpha who’s disturbing our mate, if you don’t leave her alone. I should have known you’d sneak off here.”

The two struggle for a moment and then I hear Zack’s muffled cursing as they move away from the door. Sometimes Max is the responsible one, and then there’s times like last night or that morning in the kitchen, when he makes it really clear that he just wants to fuck me right there and then...

It’s that quiet strength and smouldering desire that makes him so hot, that makes it hard to not rub up against him every time he holds me, watch him come undone and lose that tight control he has. See what happens if he shows his real self.

I slip into a clean pair of jeans and slide on a simple top, they’re comfortable, which is important right now, before leaving the bathroom. I put my bag back into the bedroom, taking one last look around as I sigh.

Finding a way to get my hands on more meds is going to have to be a priority, no matter what. Mating season is arriving soon, which means that I’ll go into heat unless I can get heat suppressants.

I’ll see if calling the pharmacy back home is going to help anything, or I might just have to order it off some black market website. I don’t know what my other options are.

But, for now, I need to get breakfast. My stomach is rumbling and I have a feeling that I might walk into an exploded kitchen if I don’t hurry up.

How can I think of having kids when these four already act like kids whenever they’re not supervised?

The kitchen isn’t in a bad state at all when I walk in. Zack, Spence and Liam are sitting at the table while Max is making pancakes. He seems pretty skilled at it too.

“Cyra!” Liam darts over, pulling me with him. “Come, sit. You’re going to experience Max’ famous pancakes. These are the best.” Instead of letting me sit on my own chair, he pulls me into his lap. I guess everyone is getting more hands-on since we’ve all slept in the same bed last night. Or it’s because we all feel a little less ‘hunted’ at the moment, the mood easier.

Max laughs, glancing back. “Don’t listen to him. Nothing famous about them.” He pours two more spoons of the batter into the pan before he picks up the plate with the stack of pancakes. “But it’s better if you start eating, or I’d get worried you’re going to eat each other.”

Zack smirks. “I wouldn’t mind eating Cyra out for breakfast.” Which earns him synchronised smacks from both Max and Spence. “Hey! Abusive!”

Max levels a look at Zack. “We really don’t need to hear about your sexual fantasies before breakfast.” Then he leans over, giving me a quick kiss on my lips, smiling softly. “Good morning. I’ll get you your own stack, so you won’t have to fight with these three monsters.” Then he walks back to the stove, right in time to flip the pancakes he’d left there.

“Hey!” Zack calls out again, right as he’s trying to roll three pancakes up at the same time, totally covered in syrup. “I resemble that remark!”

I can’t help bursting out laughing. “Yes. Yes, you do.”

“Here.” Spence, who’s sitting nearest to Liam and me, holds out a fork with some pancake on it. “Open up.”

  “I’m not a baby...”

He simply keeps looking at me, waiting, and I open my mouth. Fine, if that’s how he wants to play it. And it’s kind of hard to ignore the craving in his gaze as he stares at my lips... I open my mouth and he carefully puts the piece in my mouth.

That results in two more guys holding out pancakes to me. Liam’s a neatly rolled up piece on his fork, like Spence had, and Zack is leaning over the table, trying to shove the triple rolled syrup-drenched monstrosity into my face, making the whole table sticky.

I slowly get up from Liam’s lap, smiling at how sweet they’re all trying to be, in their own way. “I’ll let you eat in peace.” I don’t need them to make a huge mess out of this, definitely not because of me.

Zack pouts as he sits back down, finishing his pancakes off in two big bites, before grabbing more. Liam and Spence both eat more sophisticated, just a single pancake at a time, and they’re cutting them up in ‘reasonable’ bites, but they’re still shoving every piece into their faces. They’re no better, just better at how they present themselves...

I wander over to Max, who’s still making more pancakes. It’s fun to watch him, he seems so good at baking. “Where did you learn to make pancakes?”

He looks up, his eyes darkening for a moment and he takes a growling breath, before getting himself under control. He looks as surprised by his own reaction as I do, but when he’s looking like himself again, he stares at the pancakes as he answers me. “Big family. I often made these for my cousins and then nieces and nephews, while growing up. And I live on my own, so I need to make my own breakfast.” His voice is off, and he’s still filled with tension, even if he’s trying his hardest to hide it.

I don’t know what just happened, but I do know what I saw. That was the same look he had when he scented me at the party. But that can’t be happening. I just showered. I should be safe, he should be safe.

  This isn’t possible.

  Max

The fuck? It’s been hours, and I still can’t make any sense of it. One moment I was fine, and then, for a flash, I felt something different, my cerberus trying to break to the surface, trying to claim Cyra.

I didn’t even scent her Omega pheromones or anything, none of that delicious scorched pine, it just happened out of nowhere, overpowering me. I was quick enough to suppress my cerberus, fight it down, but I know she saw it happen and she stepped back a little, scared. I don’t blame her. Fucking hell... Nearly breaking into my cerberus out of nowhere, it’s not right, really not, and I shouldn’t have done it.

After the little ‘incident’ in the kitchen this morning, she’s been avoiding me, though I don’t seem to be the only one. She seems to be avoiding all of us. Just now we were finally getting close, she shuts us out again, and it’s my fault. I’m such a great Alpha, scaring my future mate out of nowhere like that.

We’re all hauled up in the large living room, each doing our own thing, existing together without saying anything, just being. It would be comfortable and peaceful, if it wasn’t for the constant worry about what Cyra’s parents are going to be doing next, and that nervous tension is palpable in the room.

My phone rings and I see it’s my cousin, Julie. Glancing at Cyra, I pick up, curious. “Morning, how’s my favourite cousin doing?”

On the other end of the line, Julie laughs. “You just call me that because I’m the only one who will put up with your shit.”

“Maybe.” I laugh too. “What’s up?”

Now she’s more serious. “The Omega everyone keeps talking about, she’s the same one you took to the Gala and who played the princess at Daisy’s party, right?”

“Yeah.” I have no idea where this is going. Julie usually doesn’t just call me for nothing. We used to be very close, but since she’s got her own family, she’s been very busy and we don’t see each other that often anymore.

“I have to admit, the girl’s good. I had no idea she was an Omega, she hid herself well.”

“Okay...” Praise, I guess? What’s Julie up to?

“Are you with her now?” />
“Yes.” By now everyone is staring at me, including Cyra, who’s not looking very happy. “I’m with Cyra and Liam and the other two guys who are in those gossip magazine pics.”

“Ah, them. They’re kinda infamous, aren’t they?”

“Yeah... And all four of them are staring at me at the moment, making this a very awkward conversation since I have no idea where this is going.”

“Right. Everything has been a bit weird since the weekend. I was surprised when I couldn’t find you at the Gala anymore. That was, until everyone started whispering about an Omega sneaking off with four Alphas and I saw the pictures from the article.” Julie sighs. “I guess it would be a good idea to put me on speakerphone? That makes this easier, hopefully.” Why?

But I’m too weary to even think it over too long. “Sure.” I motion for the others to come closer and when Cyra steps near again, I feel a flash of something go through me. I’m quick enough to catch it, but it definitely happened. “Everyone’s here now.”

“Good.” Julie takes a deep breath. “People have been asking a lot of questions about the five of you these last days. ‘Reporters’, detectives of varying trustworthiness, even the police. Asking if we know where you are, if we can give any clues as to where you could be. If you’re dangerous. If you could be a danger to Cyra. All sorts of shit. Whoops.” She makes an awkward sound and then I hear her move and a door closes. “No cursing where the kid could overhear it. Where was I?”

  “People bothering you?” I offer.

“Yes. It’s been non-stop, as you can probably imagine. Upsetting everyone with their invasive and flat-out accusatory questions sometimes. They just want dirt, like always. Nothing new there. But then I get a surprise call from a basilisk shifter, an Alpha, telling me that I should come clean and admit my involvement in all of this.”
