“Fascinated that I even had them.” Mary laughed. “I told her she could not be more surprised than I am. Well, I am headed for bed.”
After saying good night to Mary and Harold, Belle leaned up against Geordie and smiled at him when he put his arm around her and stroked his son’s head. “It is nice that so many of your family have come.”
“Had not really expected this many.”
“They wanted to see the ocean you chose.”
“They want to go swimming. Think we will see less of them soon.”
“No, you will be down there with them.”
Geordie laughed. “Probably. Might even teach them to row.”
“Such a mean man. Well, I need to put Seth to bed.”
He stood up with her and they walked toward the stairs. “It’s a good life, Belle.”
“That it is, Geordie.” She brushed a kiss over his cheek. “That it is.”
