His breathing slowed from pants as he pulled away. He took off the condom and wrapped it in a tissue. Then, he lay beside her and pulled her down alongside him. “The neighbors are going to complain if we keep that up.”
She’d forgotten they were in a hotel room. Of course the world could have ended and she wouldn’t have noticed. “Probably.”
She snuggled into his arms further, trying to become one with him again. He allowed her just as she knew he’d allow her anything.
Funny how geek love had found her in the place she’d least been looking. She’d always heard that was the case. But now that she had it, she wasn’t giving it up.
Ever.
They would have their happily ever after, which would be so much better than TV or movies where that seemed to be a lacking concept in a lot of writing.
“When we get back to work, I’m putting in for my cross country trip. I have enough days to take it, I think.” His voice was quiet. “You’ve shown me I need to start doing all the things I put off. I need to do the things I want to do, not just what I have to do.”
She swallowed, knowing how much he’d wanted to do that trip. She’d often wondered why he didn’t go. “Why haven’t you done it before now?”
“I didn’t have motivation to take chances. I didn’t have you. You’ve shown me what I need to do. For myself.”
Her heart blossomed into a thousand blooms. There was no greater praise than that. “Maybe I’ll find a way to come with you. Maybe I can train.” She held her breath. Would he even want her to come with him?
He sounded excited as he gathered her up even closer in his arms. “I can train you. We can ride together. I’d like that.”
A breath of relief released from her lungs. That would be fun to do together. They lay in silence for a few seconds. “Baxter is going to be looking for us eventually.” She breathed a heavy breath.
“He can wait.”
As could the rest of the world.
The End
