Phoenixfall: A Reverse Harem Romance (The Rogue Witch Book 2) Page 22

by KT Strange

I ran through the exit door after Max. She was the only one out of all of it that was helpless. The guys, well, if hunters showed up? I had to trust the pack to take care of themselves.

“Max!” I called, running through the hallway, lit up with red emergency lightning in dashes and strips along the edges of the ceiling. It cast a flood of bloody light that practically dripped down the walls. My gut turned over, and then I heard a cry around the corner.

Sound dampened. My muscles cramped. It felt like I couldn’t run fast enough.

  Time.

  Tripped.

  By.

Max was up against the wall, a tall, bald man pinning her there, a knife to her throat.

“Fuckin’ werewolf,” he snarled at her, and she cried out again. The knife dug in.

  I didn’t even think.

My hand reached out. There came a deafening crackle and a flare of light.

So. Cliffhangers, huh? Wow. In my defense I only did it because all of my beta readers sent me a bazillion notes in all caps saying how it amazing it was, and that they didn’t mind cause the new book was out in another month. Meep!

The last month for me has been pretty amazing. Honestly, I never expected my little book about a bunch of rocker wolves and their witchy manager to take off the way it did. But a few days after going live, suddenly I was in the top 300s on Amazon, and I was getting contacted by agents asking me for the rights to this and that and… yeah. It was incredible. I had all these people join my Facebook group, and they’ve become the most wonderful friends I could ever ask for. I don’t often use hashtags like #blessed or whatever, cause that’s not my style, but some pretty amazing shit went down for me in March and for that I will be ever grateful to you, the reader.

If you’re in my Facebook group, you’ll know the last month has also been incredibly rough. My father was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, and I moved in with him a few weeks before Phoenixcry went live to take care of him. He had rounds of radiation, and started chemo - not out of any hope to save his life, but maybe to extend it a bit and bring him comfort and pain-free living. Since March 1st he’s been on a steady spiral downward, getting sick and weaker. Through it all, the one small joy he has is asking me everyday what you, the readers, are saying about my book, and where I am in the charts. He’s become bedridden, but through you, I’m able to show him a little bit of the book world. He loves the idea of a Reverse Harem, too, which is the cutest thing.

Other sort of big news, I was on tour for two weeks in the US (leaving my dad was crazy hard, but work had to come first and thank you so much to my family and friends here in Vancouver, Canada for pitching in to take care of him while I was gone!!), doing a few shows with a band I’ve been working with for years. It was a good break. It inspired me so much, because a lot of the events that happen in my books have happened to me, or my friends, in real life when we’re out there, racking up the miles on our cars and playing shows night after night.

One thing about March? It wasn’t really conducive to writing all that much. Nope. But somehow, pulling some all-nighters, and with the help of my amazing beta and editing teams, it got done! Phewwww! So I hope you loved it, cause a lot of love was poured into these pages, and as I roll into the next book, Phoenixburn, I’m hoping to knock it right out of the park.

  THE THANK YOUS…

To my core crew: Gina, Zephr, Nic, Chrissy, Katie, and Kat.

To amazing Erin, who knew when I hired a PA I’d be getting an incredible friend?

My betas, you really supported me when I was crying about my dad while writing sex chapters (that’s crazy but it was a thing!). Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Here you are, you gorgeous people: Alicia, Alisha, Amanda, Amy, Ann, Brina, Caitlyn, Casey, Catlin, Ciersten, Cynthia, Danielle, Erin, Gina, Gina, Hanna, Heather, Heather, Heather (GAWD THERE IS A LOT OF HEATHERS UP IN HERE!!!), Jennifer, Johnnie, Kathryn, Kayce, Kelly, Liz, Lou, Missy, Niki, Peggy, Shelby, Susan, Stacia, Suzanna, Tennille, Tiffany, Tracy, and Victoria.

Lauran Landa, my bestie and the girl bringing Darcy to life. Thanks for casting the boys in Phoenixcry. I can’t wait to hear the audiobook.

Becca Briggs, you are a gorgeous person inside and out. I am so honored to have you on the cover of another one of my books. Curtis Nobel too, that photoshoot was amazing.

To Ciaran, for another fantastic cover graphic.

All my beauties over at KT’s Beauties for being my friends, confidants, and gif-war buddies. I love you. I love you so much.

To Bri, who edited this while on her holiday, and didn’t mind at all that I was super late with it.

And one more, gigantic, oh-my-god thank you to you, the reader. You helped this girl with a dream shoot up the charts, defy the odds, astonish everyone and showed how incredible Reverse Harem readers are. Thank you for trusting me with your time, and sharing this story with me. The boys, and Darcy, thank you too.

Hugs, love, and all the rest,

  Kit

Song Lyrics: You Are My Home

So the song that Finn and the boys play by the campfire was actually written by my friends, Ciaran Strange and Ron Irving.

We’re hoping to record it later this year for you to listen to :)
