Fox Among the Demons Page 18

by Trudie Collins

She stepped back, holding his chain in her hand. “This is a lovely chain,” she said. “It would look so much better on me than you.”

Before he could stop her, she pulled it from his neck. Like all sirens, Elizabeth was slim and not very muscular. Trey could easily overpower her. He moved closer, but before he could take hold of her, she started to sing. Without his necklace to protect him, Trey was instantly ensnared.

In the car, Komi swore loudly. He and Bolene raced to the front door and Komi set about picking the lock, all the while praying that it didn’t have a safety chain.

It felt like hours, but it only took him a couple of minutes to get the door open. Bolene and Komi entered the house as quietly as they could; they wanted to surprise the siren. Through his communicator, Komi could hear sounds coming from the bedroom, but had no idea exactly what was going on.

He opened the first door he came to, but it led into the lounge, which was empty, though he did notice Trey’s shirt on the floor and his jacket lying over the arm of the sofa. The second was the bathroom. He and Bolene made their way to the back of the house. As they approached, dual sounds of Trey moaning in pleasure reached their ears, both from the communicator and from inside the room ahead of them. Komi switched his communicator off; it was not needed any more.

The siren, dressed only in her underwear, was on the bed, kneeling beside Trey’s naked body. Her head was in his lap and was moving up and down. Bolene turned away; she had no wish to see her brother being given oral sex.

Komi took his hipflask from his jacket, removed the lid, grabbed the siren by her hair and pulled her away from Trey. Without letting go of her hair, he threw her onto the floor, pulled back her head and tipped the contents of his flask down her throat.

He watched in satisfaction as she began to convulse. The alcohol was fast acting and she was dead in under a minute. She was wearing Trey’s chain, so Komi took it from her dead body and walked over to the bed. Trey was sitting up and shaking his head, as though trying to clear it.

“What happened?” he asked when he managed to focus his eyes and saw Komi.

Komi held out the chain to him. “She managed to get this off you. Then she began to sing.”

“Shit,” Trey said. He took the chain from Komi’s outstretched hand and placed it around his neck. “Thanks for saving my life.”

Komi had never been enchanted by a siren before and was curious about what it was like. Trey was not able to tell him when he asked. “I have no idea. I have no memory of even leaving the nightclub. Where am I and where is Bo?”

“Just outside,” Komi said. “She didn’t particularly enjoy watching a siren giving you a blowjob.”

Trey looked down at his naked body and swore again. Until that moment, he hadn’t realised he had no clothes on. He found his underwear, jeans, socks and shoes on the floor and quickly put them on.

“You might also need these,” Bolene said, throwing Trey’s shirt and jacket at him. His hipflask was still in the jacket pocket and he winced when it hit his arm.

“Why are you mad at me?” he asked.

“Because you almost got yourself killed you idiot. Never let a siren remove your chain. It’s the only thing keeping you alive.” Trey didn’t think he deserved to be shouted at, but she did have a good point; he had been an idiot.

“Come on,” she said in a calmer tone. “Let’s go home.”

They left the siren’s dead body on the floor. It would eventually be found and the cause of death put down to a heart attack. It was unlikely that the police would investigate, but if they did, nothing could be traced back to them.

Fox rolled off Natasha and made himself comfortable beside her, his head resting on her shoulder. He placed one arm across her and kissed her neck. “You are incredible.”

“I like having sex in your bed,” she said. “The whole room smells of you.”

Fox was going to reply, but a noise from downstairs surprised him. “Shit, that’s the front door.”

“Hell, what do we do?” Natasha asked. Neither of them wanted her to be caught in his room.

“Get dressed, quickly,” Fox said. “Hopefully you can get to your own room before they come upstairs. If they succeeded in killing the siren, they will probably have a celebratory drink first.” He was assuming it wasn’t Lukine returning home. If it was, there was nothing to worry about as he rarely went to the second floor of the hotel.

Ignoring her underwear, Natasha stepped into her trousers and slipped her t-shirt over her head. She didn’t have time to get dressed properly; she just needed to look as though she was. Fox hid her bra and panties under his bedcovers; he would return them to her later.

He opened the door and stuck his head out. Nobody was in sight, but he could hear someone climbing the stairs. “Be quick,” he said to Natasha, gave her a quick kiss on the lips, then pushed her out the door.

While Komi and Bolene went to the owners suite, for a much needed alcoholic drink, Trey decide to go to his room. He couldn’t remember doing anything with the siren, but he still felt dirty and wanted to wash all trace of her from his skin.

When he reached the top stair, he saw Natasha unlocking her door and grinned. “Nat,” he called out, knowing that Komi and Bolene would not be able to hear him. The look on her face when she span around almost made him laugh.

“Oh, it’s only you,” she said, breathing a sigh of relief.

“A word of advice,” he said. “If you want to continue keeping your relationship a secret, next time you get dressed in a hurry, you might want to make sure you are wearing your own clothes before you leave the bedroom.”

Natasha looked down at herself and swore. In her haste she had picked up Fox’s t-shirt by mistake and neither of them had noticed. Trey was not going to let either of them forget this in a hurry.

Inside his bedroom, Fox placed his head against the door and groaned.

  Line Dancing

Lucy only had a few more days to go before her final exams and she was getting nervous. Natasha volunteered to skip her line dancing class and stay with her, but Lucy assured her she would be better off alone with nobody around to interrupt her studying. She might have been lying and wanted the house to herself so that Trey could visit, but Natasha didn’t think so. Since Natasha had caught them together, they had been honest about when they were seeing each other and Trey understood how important it was to give Lucy some time alone to study.

Komi frequently turned up at Natasha’s house so he could drive her to her lesson, usually in her car as he arrived by motorbike, but today there was no sign of him, so she happily drove herself. Part of her hated these nights. While she still loved line dancing, Komi turning up unannounced meant that she wasn’t able to see Fox. The time to make their relationship public was getting closer every day, but had not yet arrived.

She put one of her favourite CDs into the player in her car, turned up the volume and began to sing. The journey to the club where she had her lessons was not long and by the time she arrived she was rearing to go. The moment she walked through the door, she put Fox from her mind and decided she was going to have an enjoyable evening.

  ————————————-∞————————————-

“Not going out with your girlfriend?” Komi asked Fox when he found him in the library.

“No, she’s at college. Every Tuesday and Friday night, remember.”

“So you have nothing planned for tonight then?” Fox didn’t like the way Komi was smiling at him.

  “Why?”

“My bike is being repaired. Can I borrow your car?”

Fox put down the book he was trying to read and gave Komi his full attention. “You expect me to lend you my car so you can go and spy on Nat at her dance class, despite the fact that she repeatedly asks you
not to.”

“Yes.” He made it sound like a reasonable request.

Natasha wasn’t the only one who hated the fact she and Fox couldn’t see each other on a Tuesday night and this was an opportunity that Fox couldn’t miss. “No.” He took a moment’s pleasure in seeing the disappointment on Komi’s face before adding, “I’ll come with you.”

“Don’t forget your bracelets,” Komi said. “We have to be invisible.”

“Why? Nat will know we’re there. She never takes her chain off anymore.”

“I know, but it’s the only way we can get in. You need to be a member.”

“And do you make yourself visible again once you are inside?” Fox didn’t know why he was bothering to ask the question.

“Where’s the fun in that? I get a kick out of knowing that she is the only one who can see me so she can’t react to my presence. She usually does her best to ignore me and pretend I’m not there, though something tells me she won’t tonight.”

Fox drove while Komi gave directions. It was easy enough to gain entrance and Komi led Fox to the room Natasha usually danced in.

Though it was a big room, it was packed with people, most of whom were on the dancefloor. There were chairs at the back and along both sides, but few were occupied. Komi took his usual seat and Fox sat down beside him. It gave him the best view of Natasha while having little risk of someone wanting to use the supposedly empty chair.

“Where is she?” Fox asked. He didn’t bother to keep his voice down as the invisibility spell also suppressed sound.

“Front row, right hand side,” Komi said. Fox soon spotted her and watched in fascination as she performed the dance moves. They were simple and easy to pick up, but she did them with a grace a lot of the others lacked.

“She doesn’t really like this one,” Komi said.

  “How do you know?”

  “She isn’t singing along.”

The song ended and the next dance was announced. She smiled as she talked to the person next to her. Fox couldn’t take his eyes off her when she started to dance once more. Sure enough, her lips were moving. He couldn’t hear her, but he was sure she was singing.

“Why is she doing different steps when she faces the back?” Fox asked Komi.

“The person standing behind her is new. When she faces the front he’s copying her so she does the simple version of the dance. When she faces the back, he’s copying someone else so she can do the more complicated steps, which she prefers.”

Then Natasha spotted Komi and she glared at him. Her eyes went wide when they moved to his left and she saw Fox. She almost missed a step as all of the dancers turned to the side. By the time she was in a position to see him once more, she had regained her composure.

Fox’s eyes left Natasha and he scanned the other dancers. They were a mixture of ages, sexes and body shapes. They differed greatly in ability, but there seemed to be no animosity if someone went wrong.

Then his eyes fell on the instructor, who was in amongst the dancers, helping out those who were struggling. Fox wasn’t pleased to see that he was young, yet to reach thirty, fit and good looking. Natasha had failed to mention that when talking about her lessons.

She had also failed to mention that he was a flirt. He gave all of the women, no matter what age they were, a smile or a wink when he passed them. It was all Fox could do to remain in his seat when the man squeezed Natasha’s shoulder as he walked by her. Instead of pushing his hand away, Natasha smiled at him and said something that made him laugh.

Fox was outraged. “Is she flirting with him?”

“Relax,” Komi said. “They all do. There’s nothing in it. Why does it matter to you anyway?”

“It doesn’t,” Fox said quickly. “I’m just surprised.”

Every time her instructor came close to her, he and Natasha flirted together. Fox was sure she was doing it on purpose because she knew he was watching. She was purposely winding him up. Well two could play at that game.

The dance ended and ‘the beginners waltz’ was announced. Fox stood up and began to move toward the front of the room. “Where are you going?’ Komi asked.

Komi wasn’t sure he liked the smile on Fox’s face. “To annoy Nat.”

Fox watched the steps carefully as he made his way to the front of the room. They were easy to pick up and by the time he reached Natasha he was sure he had them memorised.

She saw him approaching and did not look pleased to see him. He waited by the side until she turned her back on him, then he joined her on the dancefloor. He moved behind her, placed one hand on her waist and the other on her outstretched arm. He was glad he couldn’t see her face as he danced the steps with her, perfectly in time.

Knowing that there was nothing she could do, he held her more tightly, pulling her body closer to him. She could not react in any way as nobody else, other than Komi, knew he was there.

It wasn’t a proper waltz, it just followed the timings of that type of dance, but it felt good having her in his arms in public. He could feel her trembling, which told him she was feeling the same way he was. She might be mad at him, but she was still enjoying it.

“Is this turning you on as much as it is me?” he whispered in her ear. She gave a slight nod. He wanted to kiss the back of her neck, but Komi was watching. He had no idea how he was going to explain his actions as it was.

The music ended too soon and before leaving her, he said, “You had better be coming to the hotel tonight.”

She didn’t answer and he forced himself to take his hands off her and return to Komi.

“She’s going to be really pissed,” Komi said. “You’ll be lucky if she waits till Friday before coming over to yell at you.”

Fox thought that, if he was lucky, she would be visiting later that night.

“We had better get out of here,” he said. “I don’t want to be around when she leaves, just in case she decides to confront me.”

As soon as they got home, Fox went to his room to eagerly await Natasha’s arrival. He couldn’t keep the smile off his face. He didn’t know if she would be mad at him or happy to see him, and he didn’t care; all he cared about was that he was going to see her again soon.

  ————————————-∞————————————-

As soon as the lesson was over, Natasha went straight to her car instead of taking part in the usual socialising. She had found it hard to concentrate after Fox had left; she couldn’t stop thinking about him.

She drove directly to the hotel and let herself in without ringing the bell. She went in search of Fox, but found Komi instead. He was in the lounge with Bolene and Lukine and actually went a little pale when he saw her.

“Where is he?” she asked, doing her best to sound angry.

“In his room, I think,” Komi answered. She heard an audible sigh of relief when she turned her back on him. She ran up the stairs and entered Fox’s room without knocking. He was lying on his bed, reading a book, as though he didn’t have a care in the world.

Natasha closed and locked the door. Fox slowly approached her, trying to gauge her mood before he got too close.

“You’re a good dancer,” she said.

He grinned. “That’s not all I’m good at.” He grabbed hold of her, picked her up and carried her over to the bed. “I want you so badly.”

His hands and mouth were all over her and it took all of her self-control to push him away. “We can’t. Not here. Not now. What if someone is listening at the door?”

“They won’t be able to hear anything,” he said as he nuzzled her neck in a way she liked. “I still occasionally have nightmares from my childhood and wake up screaming. I had Lukine put a soundproofing spell on my room. Sound can get in, but not out.”

“How come this is the first I’ve heard about you having nightmares?” she asked.

“I haven’t had any since we’ve been together so I didn’t think they were worth mentioning.”

  He w
as still tantalising her neck with his tongue. She gave up trying to speak and surrendered to his touch. They were both so turned on it didn’t take long for them both to achieve satisfaction.

“I should go,” Natasha said a short time later, as she lay naked on the bed in Fox’s arms.

“I don’t want to be away from you tonight,” Fox said. Natasha felt the same.

“Come to my place then. Find an excuse to leave here.”

“That won’t be hard. I’ll just say we argued and I need to get away for a while.”

Natasha left first. She didn’t bother to seek out any other member of the household. Fox left it a few minutes then went to find Komi. He was still in the lounge. Komi grinned when he saw him. “How mad is she?”

“Let me put it this way, I’m glad she can’t actually do what she threatened to do with some of our weapons. I am curious, though, as to where she got the ideas from seeing as most of the moves are not the correct way to use them.”

“No idea,” Komi said with fake innocence. Fox knew he had been teaching Nat how to fight dirty, as she liked to put it.

“Why did you do it?” Bolene asked. Komi had told her and Lukine everything.

Fox shrugged his shoulders. “I’m not really sure. Maybe I still haven’t forgiven her for walking out on me and this was a good way to get my revenge.”

“Men!” Bolene said and rolled her eyes.

“I’m going out,” Fox said. “My girlfriend should be back from college by now and I could do with her company.”

“How’s she going to react when you go to her because another woman has got you all riled up?” Komi asked.

“I’m sure she won’t mind,” Fox said and winked at him.

  Memories

Lucy’s exams were finally over and Natasha and Fox had decided it was time to come clean about their relationship. They weren’t sure how to broach the subject with Komi, or how he was going to react.
