I take a deep breath as I walk inside. The place is packed with Vipers. A rough-looking guy with a blonde mullet stares at me. He’s dressed all in leather with tattoos everywhere. I don’t back down from his gaze. I want him to know I’m not scared of shit, least of all a Viper.
A few intense seconds pass. I wonder if he’s about to reach for a gun or a knife. You never know with the Vipers. He suddenly turns away from me and watches as the next stripper walks on stage.
She’s a redhead with huge fake tits and a tight ass, wearing nothing but a G-string and stilettos. She’s got on way too much makeup, and her body is covered in glitter. She’s not my type at all, but the guys in the crowd look hypnotized.
The DJ says, “We’ve got something sexy for all of you tonight. Let’s hear it for Genesis!”
She climbs up the stripper pole and bounces up and down. Her long red hair flings all over the place. She’s all smiles as men throw dollars at her. I toss a few singles up on the stage. I know I have to fit in. Nobody can ever find out what I’m really up to.
I feel somebody tap me on my shoulder. I turn around and I’m face to face with Misty, a petite brunette with enormous tits. She has on a sheer black shirt. I can see her hard nipples. They seem to be staring right at me. Unlike the other girls, Misty doesn’t wear much makeup. She’s a natural beauty. Not that it matters. Amy is the only woman on my mind these days.
“Hey, Dom.”
“Hey.”
“Long time no see. I’ve been missing you.”
“Oh yeah?”
She nods.
“I have a lot going on. But I didn’t forget about you.”
It’s a bit of an exaggeration, but I know I have to make her feel special if I ever plan to complete my secret mission.
“When are you gonna write a song about me?”
Never, I think. But I tell her, “Soon.”
“I’m not a very patient girl.” She touches my face. “I don’t think I can wait much longer.”
I smile.
“How about a lap dance, sexy?”
I hesitate for a minute. I’m here on a mission, and I know it’ll look awkward if I turn her down. But on the other hand, I can’t help but think about Amy. I know she’d be mortified if she caught me in a compromising position. I’m glad my whole spy operation is coming to an end soon. I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up.
Misty takes me by the hand and leads me to a private room. This is a first. She’s never brought me back here before. The two of us are all alone. I don’t feel good about where this is going, but I know I can’t back out now.
“Why did you bring us back here?”
“Why not?”
She closes the door behind me. I can see the passion in her eyes. She wants to kiss me. Oh shit. I turn away and grab my phone out of my pocket.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I just a text.”
It’s a lie, but I’m pretty sure she’s convinced.
“From who? I hope it’s not your girlfriend.”
I smile coyly.
She pushes me down on a loveseat. I’m a little grossed out, thinking about all the shit that has probably happened on these cushions. But I play it cool. I can’t let on that I’m uncomfortable. That would be a dead giveaway. ‘Dead’. Just the word alone sends chills through me.
Misty looks deep into my eyes as she climbs on top of me. The way she’s grinding her hips, it’s almost like she’s trying to fuck me with my clothes on. My cock gets hard. I can’t help it. Damn!
She runs her fingers through my hair and pulls my head into her soft, warm tits. I’m so hard I can barely think straight. The only thing I want to do is walk out of this room and go home to Amy. Slide beneath the sheets and be deep inside her pussy. But I know I can’t leave. Not yet anyway.
“Are you sure all you want is a lap dance, baby?”
I nod.
“Let me know if you change your mind.” She slowly licks her full red lips. “I can take good care of you.” She looks deep into my eyes. “It would be my pleasure.”
I smile a little.
“And you don’t have to worry about money. This one is on the house.”
She reaches the zipper on my jeans.
“Wait.”
“What’s wrong? I can tell you want me.”
She rubs my hard cock.
“Yeah. But…”
“Don’t tell me. You’ve got a girlfriend.”
I hesitate. I can’t mess up things with Amy, but I’ve got to get this intel. I think fast.
“I didn’t say I had a girlfriend, it’s just... If we were to hang out or whatever, I wouldn’t want us to fool around here.”
Her eyes light up.
“So, you wanna take me out on a real date? Dinner. Movies. Is that what you’re saying?”
“That depends.”
“On what exactly.”
“I have high standards.”
“I can tell. You must have your pick, being a rock star and all.”
“I’m not a rock star. Just a small-town boy with a guitar.”
“Don’t sell yourself short. I’ve seen you play.”
“Really?”
“A couple of times actually. I’ve been keeping my eye on you for a long time, Dom.”
“Yeah?”
“I guess you can say I’ve got a little crush on you.”
I smile.
“I just wanna know if you feel the same way.”
“Like I said. That depends.”
“On what?”
I pause for a minute. I know I have to stay in character and think of lies that make sense. But it’s so hard because my cock is throbbing. I take a deep breath.
“I need a girl who’s adventurous. Ready to try anything.”
“Look no further.”
“And a girl who never keeps secrets.”
“That’s never been my style.”
“And most of all, a girl who doesn’t cheat.”
“If I find a guy I like, there’s no need for that. As long as he keeps me satisfied, and I’m sure you can get the job done.”
She presses her crotch against my dick.
Stay cool, Dom. Don’t forget what you came here for.
“That’s good to know.”
“So, when are we gonna go out on a date?”
“I don’t know.”
“Why not?”
“First I need you to be honest. Is there something going on between you and Lyle.”
I made it up. But in a small town like Tomahawk, a rumor like Lyle and Misty wouldn’t be too far-fetched. And I’ve got to find out all I can. On the other hand, I’m afraid I might fuck everything up with Amy if I keep coming back here night after night. Eventually, I might slip up and do something I regret with Misty.
“Who told you that? I wouldn’t go near him.”
Her mood changes from sexy to terrified.
“Are you okay?”
She nods and slows down her movements.
“Misty? What’s wrong?”
She grabs my palms and holds them up to her tits. They feel soft. They’re real. More blood rushes to my cock. She licks her lips.
“Nothing’s wrong, baby. But why don’t you let me feel better…”
I try to keep my cool. I know I’m playing with fire. From the looks of it, Misty has me right where she wants me, but I still have a little willpower left. I need to take advantage of it before it fades completely. I pull my hands down and wrap them around her waist.
She moves closer to me and leans in for a kiss. I pull away and stare at her for a moment. She’s hard to resist, but as hot as Misty is, she’s got nothing on Amy.
“What’s the matter, Dom?”
“Nothing. But something tells me you’re holding back about Lyle, and I don’t like women who hold back.”
“What do you wanna know?”
“Did you ever fuck him?”
“You jealous?”
&
nbsp; “Never.”
“I gave him a few lap dances.”
“Like me?”
“Nothing like you. All of this, I do because I like you. With Lyle, it was only about the money.”
She hesitates for a moment.
“Misty? What is it?”
“It’s just... I thought about what he said the last time I saw him. Scared the shit of me, if you wanna know the truth.”
“What did he say?”
“He was kinda drunk, so I didn’t really believe it. I thought he was just making it up to impress me. A lot of the guys in here do that shit. But with Lyle... I don’t know. He’s hard to read. Anyhow, one night, I was giving him a lap dance. And he whispered something in my ear. It sounded like he said, ‘I can make dead bodies disappear.’”
“Are you sure that’s what he said?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s weird.”
“I know. But I figured he was just talking shit, drunk off his ass, you know? Like I told you, guys do it all the time. So, I kept dancing, he kept drinking. Then, he said something about how this guy who was a Bear… I forget his name. ‘Aiden,’ I think.”
I nod. The truth is I don’t know a Bear named Aiden, but I keep on listening.
“Aiden was trying to dig up dirt on the Vipers. Lyle couldn’t stand Aiden. He never said why. But Lyle said, ‘It got to the point where I had to take him out.’”
“That’s fucked up.”
“I hurried up and finished my dance. Getting away from him as quick as possible was the only thing on my mind. Then, I felt somebody grab me. Like this.”
She grips my wrist hard. Demonstrating.
“I turned around, and it was him. He laughed, and he stuffed some money into my bra. I don’t know if it was the liquor talking, or if he was spilling his guts. But I’ll never forget the way he said it. That’s why I would never have anything to do with Lyle.”
“I’m sorry you went through that shit.”
“It’s okay. I know how to look out for myself. But you better believe I steer clear of his ass.”
I nod.
“Come to think of it…”
“What?”
She shakes her head.
“Misty?”
“He didn’t say Aiden. It was Adam. Yeah. Adam.”
My heart pounds. Lyle killed Adam. Amy’s husband. So many thoughts flood my mind.
Misty touches my face.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah. But I gotta go.”
“I guess I’ll see you around.”
She gives me a big hug. Then, I walk out of the room.
By the bar, Vipers are drinking beer. A blonde stripper is onstage now. I was in the room with Misty so long, I lost track of time.
I get my cell phone out my pocket and send a text message to Amy that reads: “Stay away from Lyle.”
She replies: “You can’t tell me what to do!”
I’m shocked to see this. I wonder where all this anger is coming from. We can talk out our feelings later, but right now I just need to keep her safe.
I send another message: “If you see Lyle, promise me you will call Abel right away.”
“Why should I promise you anything???”
My heart sinks. I don’t know what the hell is going on. Is this her way of breaking up with me? I hope not. I love Amy with everything I have inside. If I didn’t love her, I’d be in that back room fucking Misty’s brains out right now. But I could never betray Amy like that. I want to be with her for always, and I hope she still feels the same way.
“Watch where the fuck you’re going!”
The Viper with the blonde mullet bumps into me. I glare at him. A bar fight is the last thing I need right now. I want to keep the peace.
“My bad, man.”
He slowly makes his way back to the bar. I look around. These Vipers can be some scary motherfuckers. I know what they’re capable of. But deep down inside, I know there’s somebody far worse than them. And the thing that really sucks is that he wears a fucking badge every day.
‘Protect and serve,’ my ass! Lyle is a walking nightmare. Drunk or not, he made a confession to Misty. And I know she has no reason to lie about something like that. It’s hard for me to process that Lyle killed Adam, but it’s still not a complete shock. I wouldn’t put anything past that snake.
But the most important thing on my mind right now is getting back home to Amy. Even if she’s mad at me, I have to make sure she’s safe. I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to her.
Chapter Fifteen
Amy
I’m in bed, wide awake. I tried to sleep. It’s no use. I’ve been tossing and turning all night. In my mind, I keep seeing Lyle holding a picture of Dom getting a lap dance from a stripper at a Viper club.
My throat burns. I want to vomit. But I know it’s not morning sickness in the middle of the night. A tear streams down my face. I am so disappointed that I don’t even know where to start.
I thought things would be different with Dom. He promised me so much. But now I’m beginning to doubt everything he said. I glance at my phone. It’s a text from Dom that reads: “Amy, please don’t shut me out.”
I break down crying. I don’t bother to text him back. I’m so frustrated with him. I look down at my belly. My stomach is still flat, but I know our baby is growing inside of me. I’m afraid I might have to raise our child alone. I hate to even think that way, but I need to prepare myself for that inevitability.
Every time I trust a man, he ends up letting me down. Sadly, Dom is no different. I might be better off by myself. I can’t deal with all of these uncertainties.
And where the hell is Dom anyway? It’s three o’clock in the morning. He shouldn’t be texting me. He should be in bed next to me. I can’t put up with this shit for much longer.
I know a few single moms. They somehow manage to go to work every day and care for their kids. I know I can do it if I have to. My child needs a stable life. Dom is proving that he’s incapable of providing that, so I’ll probably end up just like them.
Outside, I hear the familiar roar of Dom’s motorcycle. A few seconds later, I hear the keys jingle at the door. I shake my head, remembering how happy I had been the day I gave him a set of keys to the house. Back then, I had no clue that he would walk all over my heart.
The bedroom door opens. Dom stands there. Even though I’m pissed, I can’t deny that he looks so handsome in the moonlight. Stop it, Amy! That’s what got you in trouble in the first place.
I glare at him.
“Where were you?”
He blinks hard.
“You’re awake?”
“Yeah. Now answer my question.”
“I had to take care of some stuff.”
He takes off his shirt. My eyes are glued on the bear paw tattoo on his muscular chest. He unzips his jeans. Now, he’s only wearing his boxers. Why does he have to be so damn sexy? I curse myself for falling for him.
“Where you at the strip club?”
“Huh?”
“I know all about it, Dom. Don’t lie to me.”
“It’s a hangout spot for the Vipers and I was just…”
“Just what?”
“Trying to get evidence. See what I can find out.”
“You should leave that to James and Abel.”
“They need my help.”
Dom nears me. He smells like perfume.
“Fuck you!”
“What’s wrong?”
“I wasn’t gonna say anything, but this is just too much.”
“Amy, talk to me.”
“Are you fucking one of those strippers?”
“No. Baby, I would never…”
“Don’t lie to me.”
“Amy. You’re the only girl I’m with. I swear.”
“You’re so full of it.”
He stares at me for a moment.
