He needed to feel like I was giving him at least some control over the situation no matter how strong and powerful I came across. I laughed to myself as I signaled the bartender for another glass. They were all the same. They wanted a powerful woman but they wanted to maintain some power over her. I kept his reflection in the corner of my eye while I waited for my drink. I wondered how much power he wanted to hold over me, and how much power he was going to let me have.
Kleo had been right about Hawk and The Forsaken Ones. They were a dangerous bunch, and I could see a predatory hunger in Hawk’s eyes as he looked me up and down from the barstool next to mine.
We didn’t have to say anything else at the moment. I knew I was in. I could imagine how hard he was between those muscular legs of his. As long as he wanted me, I knew I would be able to get anything I wanted out of him, perhaps even the location of the Golden Diamond. I smirked at his reflection as I thought about how ironic it would be to get him to show the diamond to the very person who was going to steal it.
I was getting ahead of myself though. I needed to get away from him for a moment and check in with my boss. I needed a restroom, but I also needed to get back to them without making it obvious I had no idea where they were.
Once again, I placed a hand on his leg as I leaned over to whisper into his ear. I could feel his muscles tense up under my touch. He wanted me so badly he was probably thinking about taking me on the bar. I had to make sure he didn’t follow me to the restroom and try anything in there.
“I need to powder my nose,” I told him in my best heavy, sultry voice.
“Okay. You know where the restrooms are, right?” He pointed me in their direction.
“Thank you, and if you wait patiently, like a good boy, I might bring you back a surprise.” I winked as I walked away, looking over my shoulder to see the longing in his eyes. I had him right where I wanted him.
Once again, my body was going to get me everything I wanted. Hawk Renner, one of the most powerful men in the city, was ready to do whatever I told him, and the only thing he really knew about me was what I had told him, and that was just my name. My real name, dammit. Oh well, I would just have to handle that when the time came, I figured.
In the meantime, I stepped into the restroom and pulled my phone out at the counter with the row of sinks along the wall. I texted Kleo.
I have made contact. I’m in.
I waited for a response, knowing that if I went back out there too soon, he would know that something was up.
Thank you. Keep me posted, she texted back.
Will do. Going to try to get him to take me to his place. Will let you know what I find, I told her. I made sure my phone was on silent and stuffed it back in my purse.
I checked my look in the mirror. I wasn’t afraid to compliment myself or appreciate the way I looked. The subtle curves and contours of my body had never failed me before, and they weren’t going to fail me on this particular job either, I knew.
I watched the looks of envy on other women’s faces as they strolled in and out of the restroom behind me. For me, the scornful looks they gave my body were just as good as any compliment I could have received from any of the men at the bar.
“Are we ready to do this?” I asked my reflection.
“I think we are,” I answered myself with a wink, and I left the restroom. I could feel my nerves balling up in my stomach and between my legs. I was about to let possibly the most notorious man I knew of take me to his home. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew that once I made it through the night with him, I would be able to get anything I wanted out of him.
I took a deep breath as I approached the bar from the hallway leading to the restrooms. From where I stood, I could see him waiting for me with another glass of whiskey. When I had stopped to text Kleo, it had hit me that I was flirting with the most dangerous man in Paragon, which was what made him the most powerful person there.
“You can do this,” I told myself under my breath, and I was right. I could do it, and I would. Hawk Renner was just another billionaire. He just so happened to be the head of a very dangerous motorcycle club that was known for the horrible methods they used to torture their enemies. I had to be careful around him, careful not to drop my guard. No matter what, I had to be professional, I reminded myself.
Hawk was just another mark, even though I could already tell he wasn’t like any of the others. Normally, that would have been an exciting thought.
Chapter Three
Hawk
I couldn’t help but be intrigued by the beautiful redhead who called herself Felicity. I was not wholly convinced that her name really was Felicity yet, but I was willing to play along. It was obvious to me that she was up to something. She was coming on a little too strong to just be some random beauty who happened to find an empty seat next to me.
She probably could have told me she didn’t know who I was if she didn’t want to be too obvious about her game. The fact that she knew me before I introduced myself didn’t mean anything by itself, but it did add to my suspicion that she had targeted me specifically for whatever reason. I was curious to know why, but she was keeping secrets.
Still, her confidence made her desirable. The fact that she found herself irresistible and commanding over me made her the perfect candidate for what I had in mind. While she was in the restroom, I sat and thought about the things I wanted to do to that delicious body of hers.
When she’d been sitting next to me, I could almost spy the sweet spot between her legs. I knew it wouldn’t take much to push that dress up and reveal her tight little prize to me, but instead of following her to the restroom to make short work of her at the club, I decided to take her back to my place so I could take my time to enjoy her before sending her on her way.
“So who’s the girl?” Rex asked, ducking back over to the bar while she was gone.
“I don’t know. She said her name is Felicity,” I told him.
“Felicity,” he pondered. “A name like that could be real just as easily as it could be an alias,” he said. “I don’t know, but what are you going to do about it?”
“When she gets back from the restroom, I’m going to take her out of here.”
“Sounds like a plan. We’ll hold down the fort,” he said, tapping the bar before walking off.
That was when I saw her walking back from the restroom. She moved like a cat. Her body gracefully glided through the room. She seemed to command the space around her as she walked. Everyone stayed out of her way, whether consciously or not. Her green eyes were trained on me the whole way, like a cat watching her prey.
Whatever her game was, I didn’t have anything to worry about. The diamond was hidden away somewhere safe, and besides that, no one would have suspected that it was at the house. It would have been expected of me to keep it at Forsaken HQ or somewhere else safe, but I had found that the best place to hide things was right under people’s noses. No one ever expected anything to be hidden practically in plain sight.
I watched Felicity as she came and sat back down next to me. I felt like I was supposed to think of her as just some unassuming beauty who happened to run into someone she knew from the talk on the street.
“I know what your game is,” I told her, and I watched her reaction.
“Oh, and what is that?” she asked as if my accusation hadn’t fazed her.
“You’re here because you want to have a little power struggle between us,” I said playfully, my hand resting on her arm on the bar. “You want to see which one of us breaks first, don’t you?” I prodded.
“Maybe I do. Does that bother you?” She raised her eyebrows at me.
“Not at all,” I answered. “In fact, if you would like to get started, I have a car waiting outside,” I said, ready to make the next move.
“Oh, where is it taking us?” she continued her in playful tone.
“Where we can get to know each other a little better and actually let this night turn into some
thing,” I answered her.
“So, your place?” Her eyes gleamed.
“Of course.” I got up from the bar and offered her my arm. I didn’t know where the night was going to lead, but I was certain of one thing. I was going to get her out of that dress before much longer. I didn’t know what it was about her, but I wanted her so badly it was hard to stand up.
Her tone teased me almost every time she spoke, making me want her just a little more. Her confidence told me she knew I was going to want her from the moment she sat down. Her cool, almost professional demeanor told me that she had come into Paragon looking for me specifically, but I had never met her before.
I assumed this lovely woman had been sent for me by someone else, but she certainly never would have admitted that. She was a professional. That much was obvious. It was also obvious, however, that she was willing to do whatever it took to accomplish her task, even if that meant going home with a stranger. She had no idea what she was in for.
“Oh, and you’re a gentleman, too. You’re not at all what I expected, Hawk,” Felicity said playfully as she took my arm at the bar and walked with me.
“What did you expect?” I asked.
“I don’t know. From your reputation, I expected someone a little rougher. Maybe a little less refined.”
I watched her mouth as she spoke, watched the way her lips formed words, as if they were wrapping around each one as it left her mouth. I couldn’t help but think about how those lips would have felt against mine. Or how they would have felt pressing against my skin with the same care she used when talking.
“Well, I hope I don’t disappoint you later, then,” I suggested. A woman with less composure would have blushed at that comment, but she simply smiled.
I nodded to my men, working on their own conquests for the evening, as we left. We walked out of the club and into the night. My driver held the back door open for us to slide in.
“Curbside service. I’m impressed,” she commented as we got in the car.
My driver closed the door, killing the lights inside and leaving us in the darkness of the backseat together. I could barely contain my desire sitting so close to her.
Her skin begged for my touch, and I could resist no longer. As we pulled away from the curb, I placed my hand on her warm inner thigh. She bit her lower lip and closed her eyes as she moaned with delight at my touch.
Her leg was so soft and smooth. I refrained from sliding my hand up between her legs any further, though I knew she wouldn’t resist me. Instead, I put my free hand on her cheek and leaned in to kiss her.
Our lips touched, and sparks went off. My desire for her pressed hard against my pants, aching to get out and feel her against me. Her lips parted and let my tongue into her mouth. She kissed me delicately, submissively.
Her gentle fingers found their way to the sides of my face, holding me in place while we kissed. Her legs opened and closed around my hand. She urged me to touch her by pushing her hips towards me.
I obliged by sliding my hand between her legs. I rubbed my fingers against her lace panties. She was wet with desire. I pressed against her as I ran my fingers along her little slit. She pulled away from our kiss and tilted her head back, moaning in the darkness of the backseat.
I put my other hand behind her neck and pulled her to me, kissing her tender flesh, dragging my lips and teeth down to her shoulders.
“Don’t stop, Hawk.” She gasped. “Please, I’m already so close.”
“I want to taste you,” I breathed into her ear.
She clenched my hand with her legs and closed her eyes and mouth tight. She gripped my arm with both of her hands and whimpered as she rubbed herself against my hand. Her whimpering turned to moaning as she bit her bottom lip.
Watching her face as ecstasy washed through her body, I didn’t know if I would be able to contain myself long enough to make it back to the house. If she had so much as touched me, I would have erupted right then. I wanted to wait for my own orgasm until I had really had time to enjoy her.
She still had no idea what was in store for her when we got back to my mansion.
“Damn,” she exhaled. She opened her eyes and looked at me. “It’s nice to meet you, Hawk,” she said, wide-eyed and smiling at me.
She leaned over and kissed me again. Her lips and tongue were so slight and delicate, but I could feel the tension of desire in her body as our tongues danced together. She pulled back from the kiss and rested her forehead against mine in a tender gesture.
Soon, her body relaxed, and I pulled my hand away from her sex. I couldn’t wait to feel the tender skin behind her panties. I wanted to taste her and feel her wrap around my shaft as I penetrated her tight little body.
“Please tell me we’ll be there soon,” she said. “I could definitely go for more of that.”
“Oh, there will definitely be more of that,” I told her.
This powerful, beautiful redhead next to me was already starting to melt against me, and I hadn’t even begun to work on her. What my fingers had just done through her clothes was just a teaser of what was to come.
I put an arm around her and held her against my side. She placed one of her delicate hands against my chest. The touch sent thrills through my body. Felicity was doing things to me that no other woman had. Usually a touch was just a touch. At most it meant that we were going to take things further. I couldn’t explain how her touch felt. The sensation rippled through my body like an electric current.
I felt like Felicity’s touch meant more than just sex, but I also felt like she wanted me to think that. It was part of her game, but I knew all the tricks because I played the same game often with women.
She was up to something, and it was going to be my job now to break her down so I could either find out what her plan was or change it for her. Playing against someone as skilled as she seemed to be at working people over was a dangerous prospect, but I wasn’t worried. I was far more skilled at than she was.
I ran a hand down over her soft red hair while she put her head on my shoulder. I could feel her breathing slowing down and growing deeper as she came down from the quick rush of ecstasy. I already had the upper hand over her in this little tug of war.
As we pulled past the gate onto the driveway leading up to my mansion, Felicity sat up to see where we were. Her eyes sparkled with the light illuminating my property. I imagined she thought herself a princess in a fairytale at that moment, seeing the beautiful palace of her Prince Charming.
“Pretty good for the head of a motorcycle club,” she said as she slid over to the passenger side door and looked through the window.
“Indeed,” I agreed.
Oh, I had such sights to show her when we got inside.

I got her pregnant. Now, I’ll pay the price.

It’s only the first of many unwelcome surprises.

Even though his proposal is flat out insane.
Marry the girl? No thanks.
But he’s got me by the throat.
