Dylan tossed back the last bit of Rock Hill bourbon that Gabe had poured for them. He looked at his watch. It was time to start his new life with his bride. When he turned around, he saw her walking toward them with a smile. Her father stopped her and kissed her cheek as her mother, looking a little frazzled, took her by the other hand and kissed her other cheek.
The band began to play their song as Layne and the rest of the bridesmaids passed out little paper cups filled with rose petals. Dylan felt a gentle hand touch his arm and turned to see his mother beaming up at him with his father standing next to her. She kissed his cheek and his father shook his hand.
“It’s been a perfect evening,” his mother said with tears in her eyes. “We’re so happy for you both.”
Abby and her parents joined them as Dylan reached for her hand. “Are you ready, wife?”
Abby placed her hand in his and turned so they faced the line of family and friends gathered at the exit. “Always.”
They ran hand in hand together toward their future as rose petals were tossed and fireworks lit up the night sky.
