  DEDICATION

This short piece of poetry is dedicated to all lovers of life and simplicity. It’s said that life is both simple and complicated but it takes the simple truths to solve the complicated problems. Put on your pensive mode and let’s have a cool lyrical ride.

  Virgin Verses

My verses are virgin never been said

My stanzas are maiden never been heard

They cheer like beer, making many glad

Drowning the flood from the eyes of the sad

My diction is distinct, simple and true

My lines run on pun, romantic and blue

  Rhythmic rhymes refreshing as due

Specially brewed by me for you

  UNCOMMON

Rare it is for those who shun negligence for diligence

Not to soar on the high mounting wings of excellence

It may seem like anunlike pole casting attractions,

when you receive the kiss of innocence,

from a lad, lad in lad hood

and, the sun sets at dawn,

while the moon smiled at those who mourn

at the birth of an infant

  When divorced at honeymoon

a coffin prepared for you while alive

  a worthy friend proves unfaithful

as your very foe rescues you from death

  robbed by the cops and

  robbers run to your aid

  your bishop promotes promiscuity

while an atheist leads you to God

on that Sunday you were duped by a clergy

and a beggar offers you alms

  When your lawyer indicts you

  and your doctor poisons you

a wicked witch donates her blood

fear not for an atheist prays for you

that, Mohamed told me in church.

When you begin to hear the smell

and perceive the voice of the ancient

for you've got an heir before the man

you call father and have also

  gotten infatuated with your mother

  Though common it may appear

that the moon and the sun met in the sky

when the leopard and ewe sat to wine and dine

while watching the ageless Atlantic dry

at the dawn of a rainy sunny night

yet, it’s uncommon for resistance not to bow topersistence.

  THINLINE

Lord, grant grace I pray thee

  unto me, to differentiate between

  meekness and weakness,

  humility and timidity,

  confidence and arrogance,

  remorse and repentance,

  resting and lazing,

  quietness and silence,

  making sense and making noise,

  thinking and worrying,

  wealth and money.

More so, dearest Lord I besiege thee,

teach me to differentiate between me and mine,

and the truth that nothing is truly mine,

  when, I’m truly thine.

  SELF SUFFICE

  What is?

  Sovereignty without authority

  Faith without integrity

  Salt without savor

  Fortress without succor

  Imagine

  Songs without tune

  July without June

  Families without Home

  Vatican without Rome

  Can there be?

  A book without author

  A protégée without mentor

  A forest without tree

  A hive without Bee

  That nothing self-suffices is true

You need the world that needs you.

  THE UNSUNG

His Excellency, laud with loud ovation

Cost of victory simplified by great oration

But six feet down town lay the heroes that fought

  The Unsung

The Artiste, performed far beyond expectation

Fans and figures doubled beyond computation

But down stage sat the obscure song writer

  The Unsung

The Company topped the chart by nominations

Bully shares soared and blossomed beyond duration

But down sized stood her indebted work-force

  The Unsung

Soon a new song will be sung

I dare you to lend your voice and sing

For all who labour and linger in the soil of toil

But have remained with the crowd of

  The Unsung

  FALSE CAUSE

Elite few for their political reasons and scheming

in deception drew many feeble fellows with a tint of religious emotion

Men who do evil in the name of good and serve the devil in the name of God

Wonder why we would worship deities if we have to protect them and kill for their cause

Alas feeble faithfuls faithfully fan a false cause

  Boko Haram

  BikoHara'm

You claimed to be anti-western education

But you are pro-western technology & ammunition

fruit of a failed marriage, the abomination of amalgamation

Men of customized violence & signature blood shed

Lo you've turned a green land red

Here’s a cry for the dead and all who bled

  Boko Haram

  BikoHara'm

You claimed your problem was the government

yet bombed the unarmed and innocent

I felt I knew a place you'll never raze or dent

But you attacked Mosquitoes flying fat

  And set ablaze a mov
ing Church rat

Which heavens do you connect from your mat?

  Boko Haram

  BikoHara'm

Some say you are fanatical and political

Others say you are unrealistic, cannibalistic andtribalistic

Whatever the case, I loathe your bloody passion

You smoked to ashes mother and child

Returning untimely to dust a groom and his bride

Yet some keep mum, others speak in tongues low and mild

  Boko Haram

  BikoHara'm

You double the woes of the Niger-area

and in your folly, threw stones at the market square

You've lost some of your own and soon to be deserted alone

Imagine the opportunities lost at a senseless cost

In my mother-tongue, I bid you to end this wrong

  Boko Haram

  BikoHara'm

I have had this burden borne like a laden camel

It’s true our beliefs differ in Isaac and Ishmael

Yet I entreat you in the name of our father Abraham

Let folks flock in your pastures without fear of harm

For infected with dirge is my song that is sung

True we do not share a common tongue

But its crystal clear we share a common skin

The victims of your aggression ask 'What’s our sin?'

Are we the western education so forbidden?

Sheet your explosive swords and quench your wrath

That life again may from south thrive through to the north

  IN NIGERIA

  In Nigeria

The sun rises in the South and sets in the North

Birds of the same feather don’t flock together

Show me your enemy and I will tell you who you are

All that glitter are not bold

Lives are lived at owner’s risk

  Which way Nigeria

  In Nigeria

They frustrate unity in diversity and facilitate diversity in unity

Majority could have their say but the Minority will have their way

Yes u can’t beat them, sorry you can’t join them

As for those on board Charity begins abroad

They cut their coat according to our size

Who said they can’t eat their cake and have ours?

What goes around never comes around

For as they make our bed so we lie

Alas there is honor amongst thieves

  Some fingers are more equal.

  In Nigeria

North or South home is in doubt

East or West Home is in Mess

Few are called but many are chosen

Few are cold many are frozen

  Fraud is thicker than water

  In Nigeria

Children are the destitute of tomorrow

With an evaporating economy, looking for a future to borrow

Yes the rich also cry, but the poor always sorrow

Yet they manipulate media with their ceaseless creed

We hear but we don’t see, less deed more greed

But if you and I will plant a different seed

The land will blossom in a quantum leap

It may not be immediate for nothing good comes cheap

Nevertheless what we sow we must surely reap.

  In Nigeria

You and I must build and journey the extra mile

To immortality and embrace posterity with a smile

She is loving and loyal as the sun is to the day

  A rare lass

  Of Uncommon Class

Committed to Purpose and Communicates in grace

The Custodian of my heart, my dice and my ace

She is loving and loyal as the sun is to the day

  A rare dame

  Of Uncommon fame

Driven by Passion and timely in action

Nurtured her gifts into skills for our vision

She is loving & loyal as the sun is to the day

  A rare wife

  Of Uncommon life

Gallant in Glamour with wit yet graceful and simple

Lit my life with the brightness of your face and dimple

You are loving and loyal as the sun is to the day

  RED SHED

He came and shed his red

To make me glitter snow white

He cried and died as he shed and bled

Alas I live been washed and sparkling so Bright

  ALL IN THE LEGS

  Everything about Ekenmawas normal

Slim, Slender and Simple nothing special

But there was something about her motion limbs

  They call it hot legs.

She wasn’t the fairest of ten thousand

Couldn’t be classed as beauty or brains

But something always kept her on top of her game

  They call it long legs

Don’t get it twisted, she's nice and decent

She kept on roasting amidst a lot of toasting

Despite all the pressures to stand to the challenge

She always sat with crossed legs

But things are no longer the same

She now walks demystified without honour

it all came crumbling down that wild night

when she was caught with opened legs

  HABIT

I'm often repeated and hardly defeated

Could be good, bad or ugly

It all depends on what you make of me

I run a full course when fully encrypted

  I am Habit

I can make you soar sky high

As well as fuel your eyes to cry

Can lead you to great profit

  Or lie you down underneath

  Its still me Habit

A friend to both the achiever and mediocre

The very small stream that makes a river

What's your flavour? I make and mar

Can keep you redundant or take you far

  Call me Habit

Be firm with me and you'll achieve a great feat

Be easy with me and you'll be wasted six feet

  PROCRASTINATION

It’s best done later and not now

Tomorrow will be perfect I can vow

Why yoke yourself like a laden cow?

The cloud is heavy and ready to snow

Be merry with life and take it real slow

And in observing the cloud you didn't sow

Alas the seed dies with its great potential

Buried with a would have been credential

The plan became an aborted mission

  Because procrastination stole the vision

  POINTING FINGERS

You are one of the reasons

  Why they inflate their quote

If you had seized the seasons

Good men could have had your vote

You are one of the reasons

Why our sweet land has gone sour in waste

Here is one of your multiple treasons

You aid corruption just to suit your taste

You are one of the reasons we wedge weighty wrath

Bombs daily detonate like fickle fireworks far north

You decided to do nothing but shut your mouth

&nb
sp; So they took our weary sail south

You are one of the reasons the land is inflicted with rape

Overflowing in abundance yet you mong like a greedy ape

Alas our land is grey and old but not due

And it hurts me to know that I am also you.

  THE GREEN FIGHT

  The land is green

  But unclearly seen

The deserts may dare to encroach

Human hustle may threaten to reproach

Yet we must fight for nature even beyond the seas

Together we can replant a greener world and build tall trees

Wedge the flood and erosion, keep the deserts at bay

For the love of the green life plant a tree today

  The land could be green

  And could be clearly seen

  APPEAL TO CAESAR 1685-2085

  In 1685

Mere men journeyed to see Caesar

Some were short, others weren’t tall

  Yet with dare determination

  Attained great heights

  In 1785

Mere men journeyed to see Caesar

Some were blind, others couldn’t see

  Yet with dare passion

  Achieved their great vision

  In 1885

Mere men journeyed to see Caesar

Some were dumb, others couldn’t speak

  Yet with loud ovation

  Folks laud their great oration

  In 1985

Mere men journeyed to see Caesar

Some were lame, other couldn’t walk

  Yet with great determination

  They went the extra mile

  In 2085

Would you have journeyed to see Caesar?

  Notwithstanding self-mutilation or color limitation

  Will there be standing ovation

As folks laud the legacy of your rare inspiration

  BLOODY BILL

In him was the curse of the law personified

Born a lion in royalty, died a lamb in loyalty

Calvary deal was sealed with the blood of Christ the crucified

The one broker by whom humanity acquired her share in Divinity

An investment that yields a premium of an endless life

Of one who spent the rest of his earthly life to give the life of his heavenly rest

Transforming the woe of his foe into his church and worthy wife

In dying her death she may live his life; true love at its best

The Prince came to the earth to shop for a bride

Willingly signed a bloody bill regardless of price

Calvary deal was sealed with the blood of Christ the crucified

I died in his death, alas! I ever live being born twice.

  PROMISING YOUNG MAN

  Traded her heaven for love
