“Long enough to know it was the second time she had asked you to stop.”
No, no, that was too long. He saw too much.
“Obviously Rykan, you cannot tell when you are no longer wanted.”
“Trust me, Assassin, if you knew Lilly’s body like I do, you would know I was definitely wanted.”
Are you serious? Are they really having a pissing contest right now?
I glance up at Assassin and he’s vibrating with anger. I’ve never seen him look so angry.
“Lilly, would you still like for Rykan to leave?” Assassin asks the question without taking his murderous glare off Rykan. I really did need time away from Rykan. He was just not mine to have.
“Yes.” I say barely above a whisper.
I hear Rykan’s sudden intake of breath. I take the chance and glance up at him. I can see the hurt on his face.
“You’re getting married Rykan, we can’t do this.” I hold up my hand to cut him off from giving me the explanation of he doesn’t love her. I’ve heard it before, however it still doesn’t take away that he is going to marry her. “As long as you are engaged to her, you can’t share my bed.” I try to explain.
His expression turns from hurt to stony. “In a few days you will be in my Kingdom. We will speak again on this matter, alone.” He looks at Assassin then back at me. “And as long as my sons are in your womb, you can’t keep me away from you.” Rykan traces away from my room.
I sit in silence. Assassin still standing by the door and I’m still clutching my robe to my partially naked body like it is my lifeline.
Finally when the silence is starting to press on me like a thousand pound weight I say, “I’m sorry you had to see that. I’m not usually like this. Sleeping with married men,” I shake my head. “It’s just….to be wanted in that way after all the years of being told…” I pause again. This is too personal to reveal to a man you don’t know. My childhood scars run deep. “Still, it’s no excuse. If you don’t want to be my guard anymore, I won’t make you. Though I wish you would.” Again he stands completely still.
He’s looking at the wall above my head, his hands are in tight fist at his side and his lips are in a straight tight line. Either he is still pissed or he’s having a heart attack.
“Please, say something.” I can’t take his quietness or the sullen look on his face.
He walks towards the bed and places the bags he is holding down in front of me. “Goodnight, Lilly!” he says, then traces away from my room. I grab the bags and look inside. I clutch my hand to my heart when I see what’s in the bags. Inside are all of my underwear and panties from my apartment and a pint of Ben and Jerry’s Peanut Butter Cup ice cream. I’ve really ruined everything.
Chapter Seven
My heart is beating ferociously. I have never been this worked up over a female. The five women did nothing to ease the pain of my throbbing cock, which left me in a vile mood. However, just the sight of Lilly has put me in a more pleasant mood.
“Nevy, come swim with Me.” she calls from the water.
I’m sitting at the edge of the pond watching her float in the water wearing something she calls a bikini. Whatever it is, it has my dick hard as a dark oak from the Western forest. If I got in the water with her right now I would not be swimming, and since Ofilla told me that Lilly has to choose me in order to break my father’s curse I have to be slow and gentle with her. However, gentle is the furthest thing from my fucking mind. I’m going back and forth between rage and lust.
When I found out Assassin had killed every single shifter and giant that showed up at that elf’s house, I went ballistic. I killed every prisoner I had in my dungeon and yet my need for death is not yet tamed. The only thing I can imagine taking the edge off is lying face up in the pond.
Gods almighty I want to bury myself deep inside her while I lick the water from her body. Have her scream my name to the treetops as I bring her to climax.
“I think it is best I stay here.” I say, while readjusting my dick in my pants for the hundredth time.
Lilly stands in the water and disappears below; when she surfaces again she is right at the edge. She stands and the water cascades off her body in little rivulets.
“Then I will come and sit with you.” She walks towards me, the sun shining at her back causing her to glow almost ethereally.
I ball my hands in fist to keep from touching her. She flops down beside me tucking her knees to her chest.
“What’s wrong, Nevy? You seem edgy tonight.”
She pays such good attention to me. She will make a wonderful wife and mother of my young. I can see it plainly. It is a future I will kill for. Who am I kidding, I would kill just because the sun is up. No, this future I will protect. I will defend it and be gentle for it. I wish I could just wipe those bastard twins out of her and bury myself inside her. However that’s not possible, at least the last part anyway, the first part is going to happen as soon as Ofilla finds a way.
“I’m having a problem. Maybe you can help me with it?” I announce, turning to her.
The way her knees are pressed to her chest has her breasts spilling out of that flimsy top. I will never get through this if she doesn’t change. I turn and look at the pond instead.
“What do men in your realm do to show a female they are interested?”
I look over to her just in time to see her face turn red. She looks beautiful when she blushes. She pushes her wet hair behind her ears and smiles.
“Well, I guess they take them out on dates.”
“Dates?”
“Yeah! It’s kind of like this, but we would be awake.”
“I see.” I look back at the pond.
She clears her throat and then says, “I’ve never been on a date before.”
I turn to her quickly, shocked at her admission.
“You said it is a common act for men to show their interest.”
“Yeah it is, but no one was ever really interested in me.”
I have always thought humans were imbeciles, and this is proof that I was absolutely right. My face must have read my thoughts.
She laughs, “I wasn’t very popular, remember? I had this one guy that took me parking a few times, but he didn’t want to take me out in public. Didn’t want anyone to see him slumming it with the mutt.”
“What is parking?”
“It’s when you and a guy go somewhere private and……… Never mind.” She notices me tense.
How many others had been inside my wife? I was not good at sharing. I will kill them all.
“Who was this human?” I try to ask casually, but it comes out in a growl.
Lilly laughs, “It doesn’t matter.” She waves her hand dismissively. “He never got anywhere. I was smart enough to know that if a man is shamed of you he ain’t worth sleeping with. Until Rykan I was a virgin.”
If I could have exploded I would have. That is how much hot anger flooded through my body at the mention of his name. So it was the Southern prince-boy that defiled my queen, I will make sure his death is slow and painful.
“Did Rykan,” I grit my teeth as his name slips from my mouth like poison. “….take you on a date?” I really didn’t give a shit if he did, but I needed her to think I care. Only thing I really care about is wiping that boy from her memory.
She laughs, “Uh, No!”
“Then he was not worthy of taken your maidenhood. You are to be showcased like the beautiful woman that you are. If you were mine, I would take you everywhere I went, for all to see that you were mine.”
“Nevy.” She says breathlessly. “You really know how to make a girl feel special.” Her face is aflame again as she looks down at her knees.
I place my hand on her cheek and turn her face to me. “I mean what I say, Lilly. You are meant to be cherished.”
I can’t wait any longer. I have to know how those luscious lips feel under my own. I lean forward and I can hear her sudden intake of breath as she realizes what I’m about
to do. Her eyes look to my lips and her tongue darts out to brush over her bottom lip. She wants it. I move in closer and suddenly she shoots to her feet. What the fuck?
“Oh God, Nevy! I’m not who you think I am. I don’t deserve to be cherished. I’m a horrible person. You deserve better.”
Her back is to me and her face is buried in her hands. It’s almost laughable that she thinks I deserve better than her. If she only knew the truth. Nothing Lilly could have done could ever out-weigh anything I’ve done just this night. However, I would like to know what it is that makes her feel like she is undeserving. I stand to my feet and walk over to her. My hands skim her naked back.
“Lilly, talk to me.”
“I’m such an idiot.” She says, her voice muffled as she speaks through her hands. I turn her around and pull her hands away from her face. She tries to look away from me but I turn her head back to mine. Unshed tears sparkle in her eyes, she blinks and one races down her cheek. I swipe it away with my thumb.
“What happened, Lilly?”
She sighs and looks down at her feet. “I know he’s engaged, and yet I let him touch me again. I’m so ashamed.” Tears are running down her cheeks. Oddly the dream I’ve woven for her changes. The soft white clouds turn gray and heavy with rain. Odd, but I don’t have time to concern myself with the sudden change. I grab her shoulders and pull her to me. She buries her face in my chest and I can feel her hot tears hit my bare chest. Oh yes, Rykan will definitely die.
“Shh! Lilly, do not cry.” I say soothingly, rubbing my hands up and down her back.
My cock twitches impatiently at the rightful feel of her in my hands. Not now. I need to comfort her; she’s not ready for you yet. I say to my growing erection. I step away from her and hold her face between the palms of my hands.
“You are not to blame. Rykan is taking advantage of your weakness.” And, for that I will kill him first.
“You deserve…”
“I deserve a beautiful girl that is kind, loving, and can see the value in a man that has scars and an imperfection.” I point to my eyes.
She smiles up at me showcasing those beautiful dimples. “Not an imperfection. It’s an enhancement.” she strokes my face with her the back of her hand. I close my eyes enjoying the feel of her hands on my face. I cannot wait for the day that hand is stroking other areas.
“You’re too good for me, Nevy.” Again, I cannot help but smile at the irony of those words.
“Trust me, Lilly. You are too good for me.” she laughs at my words.
“My king!”
Who. The. Fuck is trying to wake me from this walking dream? Clearly, they want to die. The dream starts to fade.
“You’re leaving already?” Lilly asks me.
I can’t help but smile at the little pout on her lips.
“It seems that way.”
“I really wish you were real, Nevy. Then we wouldn’t have to worry about waking up.” she is only a voice now as the dream world is completely gone.
“One day, my sweet Lilly.” I reply as my eyes pop open. I sit up in my massive four poster bed to find a young non-magical hovering in the doorway.
“My King, I am sorry to wake you, but you have a visitor.” I raise my hand and shoot a ball of energy in the boys chest making him explode.
“Don’t ever fucking wake me when I’m with her.” I shout to his splattered remains on my bedroom walls.
“Servant!” I bellow from my seat in the bed. Within seconds three of the nearest servants rush into my room and drop to their knees. I stand up from my bed, the covers falling from my waist.
“Clean this blood from my room.” The servants rise suddenly and start shuffling around the room. I dress quickly and head down to my throne room.
****************
“Well if it isn’t the Immortal traitor.” I say, sitting on my iron throne. The throne room in the Northern castle was the first thing I changed when I stole the kingdom from the previous king. Once full of light woods and rich bright fabrics was now replaced with dark oak and iron. The dark wood so dark it looks like coal paints the walls. The room is rectangular shaped and arches with sharp points run the entire length of the room. The floor is gray marble and my emblem—a rare white cobra with red eyes—is inlaid in the center of the floor. My throne is made of heavy iron with skulls carved into every surface. It speaks of power and authority.
A servant hands me a tray of meat and fruit for breakfast. “To what do I owe your visit, “king”?”
The Immortal King bows his head obediently and I can’t help the smile that paints my face. “I bring you news of the human.” Immediately my smile slips.
“And,”
“She leaves today for the Southern kingdom. They are taking her by foot through the Great Mountains and along the Sunvalley River.”
This is why I keep this traitor around. For some reason, the elf queen trust these greedy bastards. But her stupidity is my benefit.
“Is that all?”
The traitor usually does not come into my kingdom. Too afraid the bitch queen will discover his treachery. If he is here it must be important.
“No,” He says nervously. “She is being escorted by the assassin. He seems to have some tie to the human. He is willing to protect her with his life. He may be a problem.”
My hand tightens crushing the chalice I’m holding. The scar on my face tingles at the mention of the assassin, the only person that has ever got the upper hand on me. What ties does he have with my Lilly?
“Are you done, traitor?”
The king shuffles his weight to his other foot. The first sign that the next words out of his mouth might get him killed.
“I still get what you offered me, correct?” Again, my body erupts with blazing anger.
I stand from my seat and slowly descend my stairs towards the treacherous king. His body tenses as I approach.
“Have I given you any reason to doubt my words?” I stand in front of him.
“No, my king, I just wanted….” I backhand him across the face causing him to stumble back.
“Don’t ever question me. The fact that you are still breathing lets you know my words are true. Now get out of my face, before I use your blood to power my walking dream tonight.”
The king quickly disappears. I immediately summon Kotche and he appears before me. I don’t like the idea of the assassin having any attachment to Lilly. That cold-blooded bastard doesn’t give a shit about anyone but himself. I needed to know what kind of attachment he had with her and how deep it went. The assassin was a loner and the only bonds he made are with Avalia. If he had formed some relationship with my human, it was serious and could be used as a weapon against him. How I would love for the all mighty Assassin to fall.
“Go to the Great Mountains, My queen will be passing through there. You will follow her every move and report to me before nightfall every night. Do not engage. Just track and intervene when necessary. Do you understand?” Kotche nods his mammoth size head and immediately disappear.
Now that I have secured the safety of my bride to be, I had another piece of business to take care of.
“Servant!” I call for the broken non-magical that is cleaning up my spilled chalice off the floor. “Send for Phillisius.” I say with a satisfied smirk. I think it is time to reacquaint old friends.
Chapter Eight
They threw a huge going away parade for me. Magicals of all kind came to see me on my journey, everyone from the party last night and lots of new faces. In high school my cousin Lizzie was homecoming queen my senior year and I remember watching her up on her float looking around as everyone cheered for her. I remember thinking that must be an amazing experience. Well, it is.
A little satyr girl gave me a beautiful beaded bracelet. And the fairies decorated my French braid with flowers once again. The hobbits tossed petals at my feet as sprites danced around me like flowers blowing in the wind. It was a wonderful farewell.
I was traveling in a
small group that included: Miriam, Augustus and three other elves, five Immortals from the Southern Kingdom, two water nymphs, a hobbit and a fairy. Also, in my rag tag bunch was a very quiet Assassin. He hasn’t made contact with me since last night. I’m trying to ignore the hurt I feel over that. I don’t blame him after what he walked in on. I wish he would just talk to me about it then I can tell him I was sorry and it will never happen again, but he won’t even look in my direction. I even tried to talk to him, as soon as I leaned in and my shoulder brushed against him he tensed up so tight I thought surely if something touched him he would shatter. So, I backed away and have kept my distance.
I’m not taking much on this journey, Avalia says that any food or clothing I need Miriam can trace and get it for me. I wish I could trace. It would save us so much time if I could. What would take two hours with a car is a four day walk here. Although I’m no stranger to exercise, I’ve done plenty of walking while hunting with my uncle, but never four days’ worth.
We’re headed towards something they call Great Mountains which I can see in the distance looks like white peaks. We have a horse with us, a big white one. It’s beautiful. I am told I was supposed to ride it, but I have no idea how to ride a horse. So for now I am walking behind it.
For most of the trip, I’ve been the only one talking. It started out when I made a joke about us heading to Mordor. Of course no one caught the reference so I then had to explain the Lord of the Rings. After that, I told them stories of my youth and things I did back home in the trailer park. They loved those stories even more. They’ve been highly attentive to my stories, asking questions and commenting on certain things. Well, most of them anyway. The only ones I haven’t heard anything from is the horse and Assassin, although I don’t think the horse can actually speak. But, you never know in this realm.
We’ve been walking for about four hours now. The sun has been uncooperative, constantly finding us through the gaps in the tree tops. Miriam has done well with supplying me with water, however breakfast was 6 hours ago.
