Theirs To Treasure: Happily Ever After (Fate Harbor Book 1) Page 21

Josie listened, surprised that triad relationships were so deeply embedded into the culture of this community. “Have you ever considered marrying two men?”

“Honey, I met Ed in high school, and that was all she wrote. He’s the only man I’ve ever had eyes for. That’s not to say I would have been opposed to having two husbands, but I was only ever attracted to my Ed.” Josie had seen the two of them together, and the love between them was palpable.

“How do you keep that kind of love and desire alive after so many years?”

“Oh, there’s work involved, don’t think there isn’t! In some ways it takes more work, and in others, I think it’s easier than having just one husband.”

“What do you mean?” Josie asked.

“Kara’s mom is one of my best friends. I don’t know that you’ve met her. Isla says that usually when two of them are having a conflict the third will come in and smooth things out. For instance, Leif Senior is usually the hothead, but if Isla and Conn are fighting, he’ll suddenly do something to get them laughing or say something profound to defuse the situation.”

“What about the children? Don’t Leif and Conn wonder which dad is their bio dad?”

“Conn and Leif are brothers, so I don’t think it matters to them. But I’ve noticed that even where the men aren’t related, it really doesn’t seem to matter. They both share in the parenting, and they don’t play favorites. Trust me, you look around this town, and you will see some instances where it is clear who the baby daddy is, but that kid is loved the same by both of their dads. That’s what it really comes down to, is the love. What’s more, because there are so many obstacles and people willing to challenge the validity of this lifestyle that, well, these relationships seem to really stick. United we stand, divided we fall, right?” Elise looked over at Josie and saw that she had stopped decorating the birthday cake that needed to be ready that morning.

“I hope I haven’t rambled on too much.”

“No.” Josie put down the tube of icing and went over to Elise and gave her a big hug. “I really needed to hear all of that. I’ve been so confused. Not about my feelings for Sam and Chance, but just about this situation.” She went back to her station and picked up the icing. “But what about the uniqueness of this area, Elise? This town is just a little bubble. If you go out of it, you’re really up shit creek.”

“Nah, there are a few places in Texas, and there’s always Alaska,” Elise winked at her. Josie laughed, and they both got back to work.

By the time the shop closed for the day, Josie was wiped out. Maybe Sam and Chance had been right. Maybe she should have stayed home at least another day. But she had two custom cake orders to fill, and as much as she loved Elise, she wasn’t proficient enough to do them alone while running the shop. She headed around back to get into her VW Bug, wishing she only had to walk up to her apartment. She thought about calling and telling the guys she was too tired to drive to their house, when she looked up and saw Sam waiting for her.

He walked over and pulled out the clip holding her hair on top of her head, which immediately soothed the headache that had been brewing for the last two hours.

“How did you know?” she asked in wonder.

“I’ve been studying you, Baby.” He took her into his arms, ran his hands along the tight corset underneath her oversized shirt, and bent down for a ravenous kiss, and she greedily partaking in his taste. She couldn’t catch her breath. He was overpowering, melting away all the stress and pain of the day.

As he eased his mouth away from hers, she whimpered and stood on her toes, trying to keep in contact longer.

“Easy, Baby! Wait until we get home, we’ll have all the time in the world,” he assured her.

He put a solid arm around her and she leaned in, sinking into his strength as he led her to Chance’s Audi. “Come on, don’t these prewarmed plush leather seats sound like heaven about now?”

Josie nodded and he helped her in and buckled her seat belt. She had really thought that by now, she was going to protest that little kindness, insisting she could do it herself. But it made her feel so cared for, she just couldn’t resist allowing Sam and Chance to do it for her.

From the time she left the Hutchins and went back to live with her mother, she’d had to take care of herself, which was fine. She was capable. Hell, she was more than capable. Right this minute, you could put her in the middle of any city in America with no money, just the clothes on her back, and she’d make it. Maybe that’s why she was seduced by the things that Sam and Chance did to take care of her, because it had never happened before. But, the idea of coming to rely on it scared the hell out of her. If life had taught her anything, you could rely on nobody but yourself.

Josie shook her head. If they ever really understood just how messed up in the head she truly was, she knew they wouldn’t want her. Once you scraped off the veneer, the real Josie wasn’t all that loveable, her past proved that. But nothing was stopping her from enjoying it while it lasted.

  “You’re thinking too hard.”

She looked over at Sam, and realized they were almost to the house. She was busted. She had been thinking too hard, and Sam was looking at her a lot more intently then she would have liked.

“What’s the matter, Josie? You looked like you were in a bad place.”

“It was just a hard day at work. I think you guys were right, I could have used another day of rest.”

“If you say so.” But Sam didn’t sound convinced.

“Seriously, Sam. I’m really happy to see you. The drive back to the house seemed too much. I hope you’re willing to give me a ride back, since I left my car.”

“That was the plan. Chance and I want to get you back home, get you fed, and into bed.”

Josie felt a sting of tears. Damn it, they were killing her.

“Honey, do you need a pain pill?” Sam asked as they pulled into the driveway. Josie realized that was probably part of her problem. She was in a lot of pain from standing so long after lying down while recovering from the flu, so that was probably making her maudlin.

  “Yeah, I do,” she admitted.

“Stay there. Let me help you out of the car.” When he got to her side, he surprised her by scooping her up and carrying her up the steps.

Chance met them at the door. He was on his cell phone, but he muted it, and asked what was wrong.

“She’s in pain. I’m going to get her a pill and put her on the couch. We can bring her dinner there.” Chance nodded and resumed his call, moving into the kitchen. Sam put her on the sofa and went to get her pill. Before she knew it, all three of them were eating dinner on the sofa, discussing the day’s events. Out of everyone’s accounts, Sam’s was the most interesting.

“Yeah, Joshua called and talked me into coaching a basketball team full of rowdy fourteen-year-old boys. Apparently, their coach left them high and dry midseason. I know that makes me a sap, but I felt bad for the kids. Joshua said they needed someone fast, who really knew the game and had the time. I believe his exact words to me were, ‘Hey, loser, since you don’t have a job, but you’re good at hoops, you have no choice.’ Now, I ask you, in all seriousness, how could I turn down such a sincere, heartfelt, well-phrased offer?”

Both Chance and Josie surrendered their attempts to suppress their snickering, and gave in to full-fledged guffaws.

“Are you any good with kids, Sam?” Josie asked.

“I was a marine lieutenant. How tough can a bunch of fourteen-year-old boys be?”

Josie and Chance rolled their eyes.

“What about you, Chance, did you make any big deals? Get any big donations today?” Sam scooped a forkful of linguine off Josie’s plate and held it up to her mouth. She looked at him curiously. “You haven’t been eating. You know you’re not supposed to take your medicine on an empty stomach,” Sam chided.

“Okay, Dad.” Josie opened her mouth and slurped the noodles off his fork, causing both men to groan. By the time dinn
er was over, the pill had kicked in and she was feeling full and frisky. She sidled up to Chance and stroked her fingers up and down his arm.

“Oh, no you don’t.” Chance kissed the top of her head and caught her hand. “You, my dear, are going to bed.”

“That’s exactly what I was hoping you would say,” she said, passing sly smiles to both Chance and Sam.

“Alone,” Sam qualified. “Just an hour ago, you were worn out and in pain. You are going to go to bed alone and get some rest.” Josie pouted, but neither of them would relent. By the time she got under the covers, she discovered they were right, and she was asleep within five minutes.

Josie woke up to the most delicious sensation. Warm naked men on either side of her. She peeked over Chance and saw the glowing hands of the clock that told her it was midnight. She’d gotten five hours sleep, and she felt great. She had a couple of hours before she needed to start things at the bakery. She wondered what time the guys had come to bed. She snuck out the bottom of the bed, so she could go to the bathroom, then she quickly brushed her teeth and finger-combed her hair. She tiptoed back into the room and quietly opened the second drawer of her dresser, pulled out a corset, and crept back into the bathroom to put it on. For what she had planned, she was going to need some back support. She was happy to see it was the pretty cream one, not that they would see it.

Chance was sitting up against the headboard when she returned. Josie couldn’t make out his expression, but she could clearly see him crooking his finger at her. Sam was still sleeping soundly on his stomach. Chance quietly pulled her onto his lap, and Josie stifled a giggle. She felt naughty wearing only a corset, with her naked bottom pressed against his burgeoning erection. He tangled his fingers in her hair and pulled her head back so he could nibble at her bottom lip. Josie sighed, and he immediately took advantage to plunge his tongue into her mouth. In seconds, she was twisting in his arms, trying to get closer, squirming against him, until he groaned into her mouth.

“You’re making it hard for a guy to sleep,” Sam groused. Josie panted and rested her head against Chance’s lightly furred chest, rubbing her cheek against him, enjoying the texture as she glanced sideways over at Sam. He was lying on his back with his hands crossed behind his head, smiling at the two of them.

  “Enjoying the show?” Chance asked.

  “Immensely.”

  “Going to join?”

“Oh, I plan to. Eventually. But, in the meantime”—Sam reached over and turned on the light on his nightstand. —“Chance, can you turn on the light by you?”

  “By all means.”

Sam watched Josie carefully. Did he see her tense up? She didn’t say anything.

“Josie, Looking at you is a joy.”

Chance, never slow on the uptake, said, “You’re beautiful and we don’t want to miss seeing any part of you, any reaction.” He slid his hand down the nape of her neck, over her corset, down to her tailbone, to the crease of her ass. He watched as she started and drew in a deep breath. “You’re still not used to having your bottom played with, are you, Zee?”

  He has that right.

“Just relax, Zee,” Chance murmured, as he feathered his fingers between her cheeks, and Josie tried to keep her breathing easy and relaxed. She tried to keep everything relaxed. Sam sat back against the headboard, his eyes glittering as he watched the beauty of Josie and Chance’s skin move against one another.

Josie took another breath, pretending she was at yoga class, slowly breathing in, then breathing out, keeping her body relaxed. Chance’s fingers parted her bottom.

One breath in, one breath out.

“Good girl,” Chance praised as he stroked along her crease.

“You’re doing fine, Baby,” Sam soothed. Josie closed her eyes. She couldn’t look at him. Either of them. Their heated looks of satisfaction and desire were too much visual stimulation. She needed to just concentrate on her breathing.

In, hold for three counts, out.

Why was she making noise? How could the simple act of his touching her anus cause her nipples to harden and her sex to dampen?

Finally, Chance let go, and asked, “Josie, would you care to explain what in the hell was embarrassing you so much about a little ass play?”

Josie broke into giggles, and finally admitted the truth.

“There is something seriously wrong with me. I got…got”

  “Wet?” Sam supplied helpfully.

  “Yes.”

“That would be a good thing. Actually, Zee, if that doesn’t happen, we’re doing something wrong.”

“But you were only touching me in that one place, not anywhere else, and I still got wet. I must be some kind of pervert!” she wailed in consternation, turning their chuckles into relaxed laughter.

“Chance, I think she needs the Sex 201 class, the one where you explain about boys,” Sam said.

Chance grinned. “Okay, the title of Sex 201, is Why Boys Like Perverted Girls.”

“Don’t forget the subtitle,” Sam choked out.

“Subtitle?” Josie thought she saw perspiration breaking out on Chance’s forehead.

“Yeah, Especially Good Girls They Can Teach How to Be Naughty. That’s the subtitle of the class,” Chance continued, in a strained whisper.

“Oh, yeah, that’s the subtitle,” Sam agreed. His dimple was showing. “Chance, that is a kick-ass subtitle.” He tugged Josie off of Chance’s lap and kissed her neck. Chance leaned in and kissed the other side of her neck.

“Zee, turning you on, and seeing you wet like this, makes me feel like I have won the fucking lottery. I don’t care if eating dill pickles does it for you. If that’s what it takes to prime your pump, I will buy you all the dill pickles in the state of Washington. I want it where you have to change your panties at least four times a day,” Chance said, his voice coming out in a rasp.

Josie laughed. “You are a nut!”

“Look at her, Chance,” Sam’s voice was warm velvet. “Do you see her glistening folds? We’ve made her wet just by talking to her. Our Zee likes dirty talk.” Sam swiped one of his long fingers through her juices. “Chance, it’s like sliding through warm silk.”

He slowly brought up his hand, allowing it to hover in front of her face, before bringing it to his mouth and licking the essence off his finger. Josie flashed to watching Chance lick the icing from a bowl in Betty’s kitchen as a mischievous boy and she imagined Sam must have done the same. That thought caused her to flush and smile.

“Now I’m going to lick and moisten my finger really good, Josie. I want it really wet. Do you know why?”

Josie shook her head, mesmerized by the lambent look in his dark eyes.

I’m in trouble, and I like it.

“I’m going to get you ready. You know what’s going to happen between the three of us. The way we want to take you?”

Her gut tightened. “Oh, yeah,” she moaned. Just thinking about the two of them taking her together about sent her over the edge. Sometimes she would think about it at the most inappropriate times, and it felt like a hot flash.

“She wants that. She’s perfect for us.” Chance sounded like a big satisfied cat.

“Well, she might want that, but I want to make sure our naughty girl is ready for this.” Sam leaned Josie back against him. She watched in fascination as his wet finger trailed back down her abdomen and wove magic between her legs. She arched up, silently begging for him to caress her clit. He swirled two fingers through her slit, finding her slick essence, and then brought it up to circle her clitoris.

  “Yes,” she hissed.

Again, and again and again, until she arched higher and higher, her hips off his lap.

“Now for some real fun, Josie,” was all Sam said, then he traced his wet fingers around the rosette of her anus.

It felt so good. So unimaginably good. She squeezed her eyes shut tight and bit her lip as she pushed herself closer to his circling fingers, trying to entice him to give her harder strokes
.

Sam stopped tracing and started pressing, while Josie panted.

“Are you okay, Honey?” he asked.

  She couldn’t answer. Wouldn’t answer.

“Zee, are you okay?” Chance’s thumb pulled her lower lip away from her teeth. “Open your eyes and look at me.” She did. He was smiling so tenderly. “You have to tell us if you like this.”

“So much. It’s decadent,” she whispered. Three pairs of eyes watched as Sam’s finger slowly sank into her tight orifice.

“I’ve never made love to a woman more responsive than you, Josie,” Sam said hoarsely. He reached between her legs and found more of her body’s slick response, and then slid two fingers inside her tiny rosette.

Chance touched her bundle of nerves at the apex of her thighs and she moaned at the overload of sensation. Seeing Sam and Chance with their hands between her legs took her breath. Sam moved in and out while Chance circled and began to pluck her clit. Then Sam widened his fingers as he pulled out. She gasped. It was too much. Chance knew, because he started a rhythm on her clit that blew her mind.

  “Too much?” Sam asked.

“I don’t know, I think it’s not enough. Oh, my God.” Josie arched up toward them, greedily taking more of his thrusting fingers.

Sam feathered a kiss along her temple, lightly beaded with sweat. “I love how good you smell, Josie. So sweet.” He reached down and lightly closed his thumb and index finger around nipple, rolling the nub between his fingers. Josie squeezed her eyes tight and keened out a cry as the tension built.

“Sam, it’s too much.” Sam’s fingers pushed in deep as Chance pinched her clit and she careened into the stratosphere.

Josie slowly came back to herself to find them both gently wiping her sweat-drenched body with washcloths, and she sat up and immediately, batting the cloth out of Chance’s hand. He looked at her in surprise.

  “More.”

She heard Sam laughing behind her, and she turned and gave him a hard stare. “Okay, you—more.” Then she heard Chance chuckle, and she realized both were laughing.
