I answered a few more questions with one word answers, then hung up.

“Talk to an agent about what?” Brian asked. “Who was that?”

  “You’re not gonna believe this.”

  “What?”

“That was a BMC rep. They want me to do an international ad campaign for their newest bike.”

“What? You’ve got to be kidding. That’s seriously amazing, Nate.”

“I know! They said they loved the fact that I was pregnant during the race and that I was on one of their bikes, and they said, with my leg and baby bump, they thought I’d make a really unique spokesperson. They want to do a shoot right now, with the way I look with my bump and everything.”

Brian laughed, the picture still in his hand. “Then I guess the whole world will see you looking like this. That’s awesome! Did they talk about what you’d be making?”

“No they didn’t say anything about money on the phone. That’s what I need an agent for. I don’t want to go into this thing alone. I have no idea how to negotiate.”

“Yeah, we’ll definitely line up someone really good. We can afford it.”

“I can’t believe it, Brian. I might be able to buy this house with cash. Then we wouldn’t have to worry about anything. We’d be free and clear. I can’t believe this.”

“I can. I’ve always believed in you, Nate. I have known you my whole life and it doesn’t surprise me one bit that you finished first in all three of those races … with a prosthetic leg … and two months pregnant.”

“Oh yeah?” I asked, laughing and folding my arms in front of me. “You were the one that told me you wanted me to bail on the third race.”

“Hey,” Brian said as he put his arms around me again. “You’re my omega and you’re carrying my baby. I’m allowed to be a little overprotective. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t still believe in you. Anything could’ve happened to you on that course.”

“Yeah, I know. And I love you for that. I guess I’d better get on finding an agent if they want pictures of me the way I looked at the finish line. My bump is getting bigger every day,” I said, rubbing my stomach in circles. “And after the shoot is overwith I’m going to focus all of my attention on the two of you,” I said, looking up at Brian. “I want to relax and be a house husband for a while.”

“That’s exactly what I want too,” Brian said, burying his face in my hair.

  Chapter 12

  Brian

“Dude, another box from Babytown?” Nate asked me as I ran to the door. I took a huge package from the delivery guy, then brought it inside.

“We still don’t have everything yet. We really need this baby bath with the turtle head. Kitty’s gonna love it.” I cut the tape on the box and opened it up, then pulled out a small plastic bag. “Oh man, this thing is so freaking cute.” I tore open the plastic and pulled out a little onesie with the BMC logo on it. “Our little girl is gonna look so incredibly cute in this. Don’t you think?”

“I thought you said that was a baby bath tub in there,” Nate said. He was rolling his eyes but I knew he was secretly in love with the onesie.

“I added in a few extras to the order. Saves on shipping costs!”

“Every single time a delivery comes there is something extra in there. Some really cute baby clothes or shoes or cups or bowls that you think were not gonna be able to live without. Even with all our room mates moving out we still might not have enough room for all of the baby stuff you’re buying.”

“But look at this,” I said as I brought another plastic bag over to Nate. I tore it open and pulled out another onesie with sleeves that made the baby’s arms look tattooed. “Isn’t this hilarious? Kitty is gonna look so cute in this.”

“It’s all cute,” Nate said. “I’m not denying that.”

“It’s functional too. You can’t have too many onesies, anyone’ll tell you that. And nothing is too good for a little girl.”

“You’re Babytown’s wet dream. I’ll bet they can smell new alpha dads like you coming from miles away. I’m just glad you’re not trying to dress me.”

“Well, I did get you something.”

  “What?”

I went back to the box and pulled out another plastic bag. “Don’t hate me. But I had these made up special.” I pulled three T-shirts out of the bag and handed Nate one. “There’s one for you, one for me, and one for little Kitty,” I said, hoping Nate didn’t kill me when he saw what was on them.

“You didn’t,” Nate said, but with a huge grin spreading across his face. “I cannot believe you. You put that damn finish line picture on a T-shirt?”

  “No, I didn’t. I put it on three T-shirts.”

“You have got to be the most ridiculous dad on the face of the earth. Is this what it’s going to be like after she’s born?”

“Yes,” I said. “This is exactly what it’s gonna be like.”

“Okay, red alert. I’ve gotta go to the bathroom again. Right now. I really hope Kitty comes a little early because this is getting old.”

I helped Nate up off the couch and walked with him to the bathroom. During the last month of pregnancy his balance really got knocked for a loop, especially when he tried to stand up or sit down. Once he got going in the right direction he was usually okay, but with the due date only a week away, I wanted to make absolutely sure he didn’t fall.

Plus, his prosthetic had been giving him some problems for the last week. It wasn’t attaching as well as it had a week ago and it was hurting him a little, but the doctors didn’t want to have any permanent adjustments made to the socket since his condition was temporary. So, he leaned on me a little when he walked.

After the guys moved out we started using one of the downstairs bedrooms so that Nate didn’t have to go up and down the stairs, and after he was done in the bathroom, I walked him to our bedroom so that he could lay down for a while. He wasn’t able to get his leg on or off by himself anymore, so I helped him with that too.

“How are you feeling?” I asked.

“Fat. Tired. A little irritable. But also incredibly horny. How is that even possible?”

  “Well, hormones are pretty powerful.”

“Tell me about it. I mean, I’ve got boobs now. I’m gonna need to start wearing a bra. I don’t even know where these things came from.”

I crawled onto the bed next to Nate and removed his socket. “You want a massage?” I asked, rubbing his leg as I reached up and rolled the silicon liner off.

“What part of my body did you have in mind?” he asked, with a smile.

I reached up and peeled the elastic waistband of his sweatpants down and revealed a huge erection. “Wow,” I said. “Someone sure woke up.”

“Oh, my God, the only time I haven’t had a hard-on for the last twenty-four hours was ten minutes ago in the bathroom. It went down just long enough for me to pee, then popped right back up again.”

“Seriously? Why didn’t you tell me? I had no idea. You had it hidden under that giant shirt you’ve been wearing this whole week,” I said as I pulled the shirt up and peeked at Nate’s belly.

“Don’t, I feel so fat. Can you just make me come. I don’t care how. But I can’t even reach my cock when I’m laying down anymore.”

“You got it,” I said, crawling in between Nate’s legs. I got on my knees and wedged them under his ass while he bent his legs and spread them as wide as he could.

“Oh, God, I feel like a beached whale. Or a whale-sized star fish. This is ridiculous.”

“Well, that’s not what you look like. Just close your eyes and relax. I’ll take care of everything.”

As soon as Nate’s eyes were closed I started stroking his cock with one hand while I rubbed his belly with the other. “Does it feel good?” I asked.

“Yeah, as long as I don’t think about what it looks like.”

“It looks beautiful, Nate. I’ve never seen anything so sexy in my life.”

Nate smiled and took a deep breath
and I continued to do everything I could to make him feel good. I stroked his cock while I moved a couple of my fingers in and out of his wet asshole and listened to Nate moan. After a few moments I lowered my head and started sucking on his cock. I continued to fuck him with my fingers while I sucked him off, my own cock growing harder with each second that passed.

“Fuck me, Brian,” Nate gasped. “I want to feel you inside me when I come.”

  “Are you sure it’s okay?”

“Yeah, it’s fine. Sex is actually something that’s used to induce labor, so if anything, it’ll help.”

“You’re the boss.” I scooted up a little closer as I teased Nate’s entrance with the head of my cock, then I watched as it disappeared inside him.

Nate spread his legs even wider to allow my cock to sink deeper inside him. He moaned with each thrust, but when I wrapped my hand around his cock again, his entire body responded. He gripped the sheets and arched his back and yelled out my name. “Oh, fuck, Brian. That feels amazing.”

I tried to be gentle at first, but it was hard to hold back with the way Nate was responding to me. I picked up the pace a little, pushing into him further with each thrust, but I was careful not to go too deep, and I synchronized my movements so that I was jerking him off at the same time.

Nate came first. I could feel his cock growing harder in my hand and I heard that telltale change of pitch in his moans. Whenever he got close, they got deeper and longer. I was right on the edge myself, but when I saw Nate’s stream of come shoot into the air and all over his tight belly I lost it.

I somehow managed to continue stroking Nate’s cock while mine quivered inside his asshole. When we were both completely spent, I pulled my cock out and lowered Nate’s legs to the bed, then crawled over to lay down next to him. It was quick and dirty, just the way we both liked it with Nate in his condition.

I was just about to settle down for a nap when I heard a commotion at the front door. Someone was ringing the doorbell and knocking loudly.

  “What the fuck?” I said.

“Who’s at the door?” Nate asked, his eyes barely open.

I pulled on some boxer shorts and jeans. “I don’t know. I’ll be right back.”

When I got into the living room, the front door was already open and Alex stood there with the secret he’d been trying to keep from me for the last five months.

“Hey, Brian. I hope you don’t mind us coming in like this. The door was unlocked and Jeremy really needed to sit down.”

“No, no, I don’t mind at all,” I said, looking back and forth between the two of them. “What’s going on?”

“He doesn’t want me here. I told you!” Alex’s friend, the one he called Jeremy, looked like he was about to go into hysterics. I watched as the guy that everyone in our house had been referring to as that redneck asshole for the last year—the one who drove the stupidest truck in the world with jacked up, giant tires and an aftermarket muffler that made everyone in a ten mile radius deaf, the one who constantly parked in front of people’s driveways, blocking them in and causing a commotion up and down the block—that big, burly man waddled over to my couch, sat down, and burst into tears.

“Jeremy, it’s okay,” Alex said as he sat down next to his omega. “We were out getting something to eat and Jeremy went into labor.”

“Well, why didn’t you take him to the hospital?” I asked. I was perplexed by the whole situation. The redneck, the fact that Alex was with him, and the fact that he was in labor in my house.

“Well, neither one of us has insurance and his regular doctor is at the Sunnyside clinic.”

“That’s only fifteen minutes away from here.”

“Yeah, I know. I called over there and Jeremy’s doctor is waiting for us, but Jeremy’s truck broke down just outside and … do you have any idea what’s going on over on Dusty Boulevard? The whole thing is blocked off and—”

“Hold on a sec,” I said, cutting Alex off. I heard Nate calling me from the bedroom and I headed down the hall. “Nate’s calling. I’ll be right back.”

“Who is it?” Nate asked. He’d rolled onto his side, but he couldn’t get himself up. “Can you help me,” he asked, holding his hand out to me.

I grabbed ahold of his shoulders and got him into a sitting position. “It’s Alex and his boyfriend. I guess he’s going into labor right now.”

“Really?” Nate asked. “So, I finally get to meet him?”

“Yeah, you get to meet him, all right,” I said.

“You don’t sound very happy about that.”

“I’m just a little confused is all.” I found Nate’s liner and put it on, then got his leg attached and helped him into the living room. As we came down the hall, I heard Jeremy moaning and saw that he was now laying on the floor in the middle of the living room. “What happened?” I asked, looking up at Alex.

“He thought laying on the hard wood would help his back. Now he can’t get up.”

“Help me,” Jeremy begged. “I don’t want to have my baby down here.”

I left Nate for a moment and helped Alex get his omega up off the ground, and when I turned back to help Nate sit on a chair, his water broke. “Oh, my God,” I said. “You too?”

“Well, I did tell you about sex being good for inducing labor,” Nate said with a shrug. He seemed to be taking this much more calmly than I was. I had two omegas in labor and I had to get them both to the clinic. I was really glad Nate and I had already bought a car because we really needed it right now.

“Yeah,” I said, taking Nate by the shoulders and walking him toward the front door. “But I didn’t think it would happen so fast.”

“Wait, Brian, you didn’t let me finish what I was telling you,” Alex said.

“What is it? Tell me in the car. We gotta get to the clinic.”

“That’s what I’m trying to tell you. The Christmas parade is happening right now.”

  “That’s nice,” I said.

“No, you don’t understand. The only way to get to the clinic is to drive ten miles east, then it’s another fifteen or twenty miles back in the other direction.”

“Then we’d better get going,” I said as I opened the front door. I started out onto the porch, then stopped when I saw that big, stupid truck. “Your truck died right in front of the driveway? Alex! How the hell am I supposed to get our car out?”

“I’m sorry, man! I tried to pull it up further but the thing just died. And that mother is huge and heavy. Maybe the two of us could try to push it out of the way.”

“Jesus, you gotta be kidding,” I said, running both hands through my hair and looking at Nate, who was infuriatingly calm. “Aren’t you gonna say anything?”

“Like what?” he asked. “Hey, it’s gonna be okay.”

I rolled my eyes and looked back outside and just then saw Jason pulling into his driveway next door. “Hey! Jason!” I yelled, then waved for him to come over.

  “Hey, Brian. What’s up?”

“Nate is going into labor and our driveway is blocked,” I said, pointing at the truck.

“Oh man, that guy again? That’s exactly what happened when Hank was having Javier! Where the hell is that guy? I’m gonna kill him.”

“He’s right here,” Alex said as he brought Jeremy out onto the porch. “It’s my fault. I was driving the truck when it died.”

Jason stood there and stared at Jeremy with wide eyes. I could tell he was about to haul off and punch the guy for what he’d done when Hank was in labor, but he somehow managed to keep his cool, especially when he looked down and saw that the guy was about to have a baby. “So, the truck is dead?”

“Yeah,” I said. “And we can’t get our car out.”

“Okay, everyone go next door and pile into my car. I’ll let Hank know that I’m taking you all to the clinic. I’m sure he’ll be following right behind us.”

  Chapter 13 - Epilogue

  Nate

“Do you want another cup of cocoa?”
Brian asked. “I’m getting some more for myself.”

“Sure, that sounds good.” Brian got up from the couch, then leaned over and kissed me on the lips. I had little baby Kitty in my lap and she squealed when she saw her alpha daddy so close. “Of course I would never forget you,” Brian said as he bent down even further and kissed our baby girl on the forehead, then inhaled her baby scent.

As I sat there and stared at the twinkling lights on the Christmas tree I thought back over the last year. I was so amazed at how different things had gone from the direction they seem to be heading after settling my parents estate.

I went from having no money and no place to live last Christmas to being cuddled up inside a cozy house with my baby and the love of my life this Christmas morning.

I stared out the window and watched the snow fall, listening to the crackling logs on the fire as Christmas music played from the kitchen. It reminded me of when I was a kid and my mom would always have the radio going while she cooked Christmas dinner. I told Brian about that and he insisted he was going to continue the tradition. Only instead of a radio he was streaming some Christmas playlist of old standards.

He told me that he was going to cook all of my favorite foods today, and his too. Neither one of us had really learned how to cook. When I was in college I pretty much existed on cafeteria food and pizza. But after the bike championship we both took turns learning how to cook new things. Each of us took a meal and surprised the other one with what we came up with. Sometimes my meals were only pancakes and scrambled eggs, but Brian always loved trying complicated new recipes.

So, for Christmas dinner he was going to attempt a beef Wellington, something his parents had on occasion. Brian’s parents had moved away from Portville after he moved out of the house, so he called his dad up and got the recipe when he broke the news that we were all too exhausted to travel for at least another month. They totally understood and were okay once he promised that the three of us would video chat with them every night until they got to meet their granddaughter.
