  Chapter 6

  Carmen

Jake kisses me again. What is wrong with him? Seriously, I don’t understand what he’s trying to do.

“You can’t kiss me,” I snap, because I have to make it clear that this is unacceptable.

“Why?” He looks genuinely confused, as if he couldn’t possibly understand why he can’t kiss me.

“Because you have a girlfriend,” I argue, even though I’m positive that she is more of a friend with benefits. Jake frowns.

“She’s annoying. You are not.” Oh wow, August doesn’t find me annoying. Honestly, I always thought that a guy like him would even find the sunrise annoying. Seriously, he’s always in such a grouchy mood, unless he’s around Chelsea. Then, he talks plenty.

“Do you have a crush on Chelsea?” I accidentally blurt. Jake laughs so hard that a few tears fall down his cheeks. I’m in too much pain to find this funny. When he notices that I’m not laughing, he stops.

“That was a serious question? Carmen, the last time I checked, I am not kissing Chelsea,” he reasons before leaning down and brushing his soft lips against mine. This time, he doesn’t pull away after a second. I wrap my arms around his neck and hold his face to mine. He parts my lips with his tongue and when I open my mouth our tongues mingle. This lasts only for a moment before he pushes himself away from me. I want to tell Jake to stay and keep me company. But before I can, he leaves the room.
