Warlord: volume 1 Page 5

by Chen Ran

After determining the target, Zog led the group forward slowly but carefully. Zero was still walking at the end. Everything was normal in his line of sight, except for the occasional corpse lying on the ground. However, the calmer it was, the more piercing the feeling became. It was as if there was a huge danger awaiting them up ahead.

Zero finally could not hold it in anymore. Under Carr's and Fatty Hai's strange gazes, he went forward and pulled Zog. He used his finger to write the word "Danger" in the center of Zog's palm, then pointed to the dark area in front of him. Then, he shook his head and made a gesture of "Retreat", causing Zog to frown.

Zog naturally knew what Zero wanted to say, but in his opinion, Zero was just too nervous.

According to the information from the base, most of living corpse's living quarters were in schools in the city. Half a year ago, the base had sent ten people to carry out the same mission. Originally, everything was fine, but when the group was retreating, they passed by the school and were attacked by a large number of living corpse.

As for the Mary Hospital, there wouldn't be more than ten living corpse s hidden here. This amount was nothing to Zog.

Zog patted his shoulder, then patted his chest, and raised his thumb towards himself, indicating that everything was under his control. Then, Zog waved his hand and let the procession continue on. When Carr and Tony passed by Ling Yun, he saw their scornful eyes.

Zero knew they were laughing at his cowardice.

He was not prepared to argue, since Zog insisted on taking action, then Zero only needed to do its own work.

The golden right eye continued to adjust its line of sight under his control, to help him see anything that was suspicious. As he passed by the Potioneering room, a light sound entered Zero's ears.

After catching sight of this strange sound, he quickly looked towards the Potioneering room. The door to the Potioneering room was ajar. In Zero's line of sight, something flashed past the door.

Zero's right eye was quite clear. It was a high-heeled heel.

Naturally, the heel could not move on its own. In other words, there was something moving inside the shoe.

He nudged the door open with the barrel of the gun. He crouched down, and if something suddenly burst through the door, it wouldn't be able to hit him at the first possible moment. At the moment when the door opened, the miniature machine gun's muzzle was pointed directly at the inside of the door.

However, there was nothing inside the door other than a medicine cabinet with a man's corpse lying on the floor.

The man's body was already left with only a skeleton, but he was wearing a police uniform with the symbol of a six star on his chest, looking like he was still a Sheriff. It was just that the Sheriff had passed away, but the two revolver were still tightly held onto the corpse's hands.

These two wheels were the same, seemingly a pair.

The two guns were approximately 50 cm in length and 17 cm in height. This was already far too big for a revolver, and the shell shells scattered on the ground below the corpse made him frown. He picked one up and observed it. He knew that the revolver was firing at someone. Fifty warheads.

Picking up one of the handguns, his free hand shook and the Drum on the body of the gun immediately slipped away. It was different from the ordinary Drum s that could only fill up six rounds with a revolver. The Drum s on the other hand, could only fill up five rounds with bullets.

"M500 revolver?" In the old era, only the M500 was a revolver that could fire five bullets. That was because it could fire a bullet that could kill an African elephant. A powerful warhead of 50.

Just as he had expected, the wrists of the dead Sheriff were broken. It was forcefully broken by the huge recoil of the M500. However, he did not know what this Sheriff would kill with such a powerful handgun.

He took the two pistols from the corpse's hands and found a line of small characters engraved on the bottom of the rifle.

  "To the dearest Smith-Marie."

It seemed like this pair of handguns was given to the Sheriff by the woman named Mary. But the Sheriff was already dead, so Zero decided to keep the handguns for him. If they fell into the hands of zero, they would play an even greater role.

He saw that there was still a row of unused stones on the Sheriff. Fifty bullets, but he wanted to reach for them. The moment his fingers touched the bullet, the prickling sensation on his skin intensified. A sense of danger washed over him like a tsunami.

At that moment, the sound of high heels hitting the ground came from behind him!

  Chapter 7 - Evolution

Su Ming did not turn around, but instead, rolled towards the front of Sheriff's corpse. After two rolls, he quickly adjusted her posture and turned to face the door.

A long pale leg with dark blue and dark red weirdness on its skin was sweeping over the location where Zero had just been. Judging from the sound of the wind, the strength of the kick should be around a few hundred pounds. If he was kicked, Zero would be in a lot of pain.

Before he could clearly see the attacker's appearance, a black shadow swept over him. Zero raised the machine gun to his chest as a temporary buffer. The black shadow hit zero and the huge force sent him flying. He crashed into three or four potion cabinets before falling to the ground.

The moment he neared the ground, the muscles on his back underwent subtle adjustments. First, they stretched to their maximum extent, maintaining the flexibility of their muscles. The moment they touched the ground, the muscles lightly bounced back, causing Zero's body to bounce upwards about 1 cm. However, it reduced the force by 60%, acting as a shock absorber.

This series of muscle movements was completed outside of his consciousness, and the current him didn't notice anything strange about his body. Zero's attention was attracted by the graceful body in front of him.

He was over 180cm tall, with flowing silver hair like a waterfall. His delicate face was like a model on a T stage. His sexy lips were slightly parted, and he had a thin, pointed pink tongue that was licking his lips. He was wearing a white nurse's uniform with the collar half open, letting a pair of plump, semicircle to support the collar.

The length of the uniform was only about 10 cm above the knee, so a pair of long, slender legs extended from below was enough to attract the attention of any male creature.

Without a doubt, this was a beautiful lady with a voluptuous figure. However, when this beauty's eyes were emitting a red glow, revealing her black, green and dark red colored patches of skin in the air, and holding up a deformed medicine cabinet, As long as a man had a normal mentality, it was impossible for him to have any interest in her.

No matter how sexy a corpse was, even if it could move around, it wouldn't give rise to any normal physiological demands.

With an incomprehensible hiss, she threw the cabinet at zero. Half of his body was still numb after being hit by the cabinet. However, he was still calmly rolling to the side.

With a clang, the medicine cabinet fell to the ground, causing sparks to fly everywhere. Everything was fine. But just as he stopped, the wind blew hard. Su Yun's eyes blurred. The weight of his body had increased drastically, allowing the living corpse beauty to sit on him.

living corpse's ten fingers clawed at him like blades, he could only raise the automatic machine gun in his hands to block the demon's claws. The two sides began their most primitive battle. Zero only felt that the other side's two delicate arms had the power of a dragon. He had already used all his strength, but his automatic machine gun was slowly being pushed down towards him.

The golden right eye suddenly contracted, and from who knows where, it released a burst of force, causing Zero to sweep the machine gun across, and bounced off living corpse's hands. But living corpse still sat on his body, and pressed down on it even more in order to stabilize his body. Zero could already feel that he was about to charge into the ice-cold triangle. Unfortunately, he wasn't a necrophile, and such close contact only made him feel disgusted.

He raised the machine gun in his hand. No matter how beautiful she was when she was alive, she was just a mutated corpse now. Zero did not show any mercy, it was just that after the fight between the two of them, the gun's body had become deformed. If he fired now, it was more likely that the machine gun would explode into two pieces. Shattered shrapnel and gun shells would sink into Zero's body and take his life.

At this time when he was being distracted, living corpse reached his hands out yet again. She grabbed the zero machine gun and bent the barrel with a strange force. Even if the zero machine gun was intact, she wouldn't be able to fire a single bullet.

Immediately, he let go of the automatic machine gun and quickly retrieved the M500 revolver from the Sheriff. Pointing at the living corpse, he pulled the trigger.

The room was very quiet. There were no sounds of gunfire. Zero really wanted to slap himself. In such a rush, he forgot that the gun was not loaded.

living corpse opened his mouth and spat out a mouthful of Corrupt Qi, throwing away the automatic machine gun. He was about to do the same and destroy the revolver on Su Yun's hands. But when he held onto the cold barrel, for some reason, living corpse stopped moving.

Her gaze landed on the revolver in Zero's hand, then she quickly turned around and looked at Sheriff's corpse, and then she slowly stood up and left.

He suddenly saw that there was a nameplate hung on the living corpse's chest, with the words "Mary" written on it.

Although she could not believe it, but from the looks of the living corpse in front of him, who was squatting next to his corpse and looking at it closely, it seemed as if she was Sheriff's lover.

However, Zog had never said that the living corpse was still able to retain the memories of his previous life, so how should he explain the situation now? Unless...

Zero thought of a shocking possibility.

The medicine room's door suddenly opened, and two male living corpse s walked in. They seemed to be attracted by the activity in the medicine room, but when the two living corpse s came in and saw Mary, they cowered and backed off. The two living corpse s looked to be around thirty years old and both had strong bodies and wore the uniform of a security guard. One of them limped and staggered. The other half of his head was caved in, and his right eye was almost squeezed out of its socket.

The two living corpse s screamed from their throats. Mary, who was initially squatting next to the Sheriff, suddenly stood up and let out cries of varying length as he waved his arms to chase them away.

The male corpse looked at Mary in fear, but it seemed unwilling and continued to growl at the zero direction.

Mary opened her mouth, bared her fangs at them, and snapped forward.

She reached out her hand to grab him, then pulled the lame man's corpse over. Mary opened her mouth to bite his neck, and when she looked over from a zero angle, she saw that the body of the male corpse was constantly twitching, and a small stream of blood was spurting out from the side of Mary's head.

Letting go of the man's corpse, Mary's mouth was full of blood. She dug her fingers into the man's neck and pulled savagely on either side. There was the sound of flesh being torn, and Zero watched as Mary ripped the man's neck open and then pulled his head down.

The body and head, still twitching, were thrown to the ground by Mary.

The other male corpse seemed to be stimulated by the crazy scene in front of him, and it rushed towards Mary, screaming. The body of the man was quite strong, and he pushed Mary into the cabinet next to Zero. Zero watched as Mary suddenly grabbed the man's waist with both hands and then lifted him up. As if she were carrying something as light as an object, she took the man's corpse and roughly threw it on the floor, in the cabinet, and then threw it against the wall.

As the man struggled to get up, Mary leaped high into the air and landed heavily on the man's body.

The scene was so familiar, it was only the man's corpse that had changed from zero to this man under Mary's weight. Holding the man's body down, Mary's claws were like knives, repeatedly stabbing into the man's body and then using brute force to tear his body apart. As the flesh, innards, and bones were continuously taken out and thrown away by Mary, the man's movements gradually came to a halt. But Mary still did not stop, she had almost dug up all the contents of the man's corpse, and her entire body was covered in dark red corpse blood, like a devil who had just crawled out of hell.

Zero's eyelids twitched slightly. The medicine room had already become a battlefield. Dark red blood had been pooled into puddles of blood, and the ground was littered with minced meat and broken bones, as well as rotten organs and large intestine. It was enough to make a seasoned soldier vomit on the spot, and Zero felt sick in his stomach, but he didn't spit it out in the end.

After Mary had killed the man, she still sat on him and refused to get up. She lowered her head and moved her hands, stuffing the contents of the corpse into her mouth. The whole room was filled with the sound of her chewing, making one's scalp tingle.

However, compared to this terrifying scene, the possibility of Zero being verified was even more shocking.

  Evolution!

This was the conclusion he had drawn just now, and after the three living corpse s' encounter to the death, it had already been verified.

Previously, when Mary showed that she still remembered the actions of Sheriff Smith, living corpse had already gained her memories. However, when the male corpse intruded, the yelling between them was obviously a form of communication and dialogue. Those short and short syllables were obviously the language of the living corpse, and the fear the male corpses showed towards Mary showed that they had already started to form a hierarchy among the living corpse.

Language, communication, class … All of these indicated that the living corpse had quietly evolved in another direction. The things that Zero had seen just now were clearly the rudiments of some form of society. He did not know that the living corpse who had already formed their own unique society could still call them monsters?

More importantly, from the way Mary and the male corpse were acting, these monsters were beginning to have intelligence. Then, would the sense of danger generated by Zero after entering the basement represent the living corpse that had already gained intelligence? He had set up a trap waiting for Zog and the others to deliver themselves up to him.

The team that was assigned the same task half a year ago, would they still stay in a school in the city after learning that humans had visited a hospital for medicine? Or had they already moved to the hospital, waiting for the next visit?

Zero came to Sheriff's side, took off the remaining ammunition on his body and quietly pushed the ten bullets into the Drum s on the pair of revolvers.

He no longer cared about hiding his tracks, and knew that from the moment they stepped into the hospital, the battle between human and living corpse had already started quietly. Unfortunately, aside from zero, no one else knew!

  Chapter 8 - Trap

Knowing that Zog and the others were heading towards the living corpse's trap, Zero did not panic nor did it act impulsively. Only a calm and cautious person would be able to see a glimmer of hope.

Zero holstered his gun and headed for the door. He sighed and turned, his hand already on the butt of his gun.

Mary was squatting beside the man's body, chewing on something, blood and bits of meat spilling out of her mouth like a wild animal.

Her eyes were red, and when she caught sight of herself in the reflection of the zero infrared detector, Mary froze. The next moment, she spat out everything in her mouth. If Zog was here, he would definitely be surprised. living corpse actually spat out the food in his mouth, this was like the sun rising from the west.

Mary's face was pained. She tried to grab at the ground with one hand, but the other was holding her back. She let out a strange cry that she did not know whether to laugh or to cry, and came to the side of Sheriff Smith's corpse.

  She stretched o
ut her hand and caressed the cold white skull of her lover, the red light in her eyes slowly fading.

  Suddenly, she turned around.

Zero thought she was going to attack him, and with a wave of her hand, the big black muzzle of the M500 was pointed at Mary. At such a close distance, even if Su Yun closed his eyes, he would still be able to send living corpse's head flying.

But Mary did not leap at him. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but the sound coming from her throat became a meaningless syllable. Mary grew impatient, and crazily crashed into the medicine cabinet next to her. After a series of punches and kicks, she slowly crawled out.

She looked up, trying to make her lips form a kind of mouth.

Although it was still a syllabic sound, from the shape of her mouth, Zero could understand her words.

"Kill me?" Zero said what Mary wanted to say.

Sure enough, Mary smiled and nodded. Then, he looked at Sheriff's corpse beside him, an indescribable grief flashing through his eyes.

Even though she had already turned into a monster, she was still guarding her former lover. Such a love, far more than any beautiful words than weight, also gently touched a string in the zero soul.

"Understood." Zero holstered his pistol, drew his dagger, and walked over to Mary.

Mary smiled and closed her eyes.

The moment she closed her eyes, the dagger whistled and stabbed into her forehead. When he pulled it out again, it was accompanied by a bloody arrow.

With the nerves in his head destroyed, no matter how strong living corpse's body was, he would not be able to survive. Mary fell down with a thump, lying beside Sheriff, just like that, she died while hugging her lover who had turned into a pile of bones.

Zero quietly left the room and dragged the two men out. Finally, he sealed the room with junk.

It was the tomb of Mary and her companion, and they should not be disturbed from their slumber.
