It didn’t take long before she started sighing in pleasure. Cay felt her soften around him again and pressed harder, quicker and moved farther inside. She started to breath heavy, started to tremble and groan, and then she started to move against him, urging him to move. And so he did, slowly pulling out of her and pressing back in.
She cried out, arching into him and rolling her hips against his. “God, you feel so good. So tight and hot. Does this feel good?” he asked, angling his hips to brush against the bundle of nerves behind her clit.
She made a keening noise in response, her sounds unintelligible now that she eagerly sucked Seth’s cock again.
It was Heaven, as close to paradise that he could reach. This was what he looked for all his life, someone who would give and receive, whose curiosity and zest for life spoke to him. Fucking anonymous women was great, fucking one you cared about was perfect.
He continued his slow torment, loving the sounds she made, and how she clung to him as he pulled out. But she pressed back harder, faster, wanting more and Caleb was only too happy to give it to her.
As he moved faster, he heard Seth growl out his own release, and felt moisture rush around his dick. Melody was turned on by pleasing Seth. God, that was fucking hot. His balls drew up tight to his body, demanding satisfaction. He wasn’t going to last much longer and so he redoubled his efforts at Mel’s clit, pressing, rubbing and pinching gently. That seemed be just what she needed, pushing her over the edge and flooding her body with pleasure.
Cay pumped a few more times before ecstasy arrowed through his body, up his spine and exploded in his mind. He saw stars as he slumped forward, dragging Melody with him and down beside him. He wanted to stay in her as long as possible, feeling her channel continue to milk him. Fuck she was absolutely perfect. And with his body heavy, and his mind blank, Cay pulled her closer and wrapped his arms around him, uncaring that Mel fell asleep, or that Seth slipped out of the room silently.

Melody smiled as she sat in the passenger seat of the small green car. It was well taken care of, clean and did not make a lot of noise like Nate’s large truck. Melody liked Emily’s car, just like she liked her new friend.
Emily smiled and sang to the song on the radio. Melody could still remember her surprise when she had turned on the device and sound came out. Everything was so new still, but Melody was learning with the help of her friends and the television.
“This was fun. I’m glad you agreed to go shopping with me. There isn’t much in town and there didn’t seem to be a point of driving all the way over to the next town just for the new shirt I wanted. But it’s pretty! I really like the shirt. It’s pink, maybe too pink. I should wear an orange belt with it, instead of the pink one it comes with. What do you think?”
Melody had a hard time following Emily sometimes. She had to pay attention to every change in the conversation and was learning when to voice her opinions. Mel had conversations with other Angels before but they were not personal. They never spoke of things that could affect what one felt or what they would do. It always focused on orders and experiences. Sometimes a few would talk about their wishes, but overall they focused mainly on their jobs. Angels didn’t have lives, they didn’t feel the need to.
But now Melody had to develop new skills that she never possessed before. And she felt that she had to do it well; she had to make up for her lack of knowledge. She had to become Human, and had to be the best person that she could be. Melody never settled. She never did anything badly, and she wouldn’t fail at this.
“I think that would look nice.” She said, not really knowing the difference an orange belt would make.
Mel—which is what Emily often called her—looked out the window at the plants and buildings moving past. They were in Cold Wood again, and she was anxious to see Caleb and Seth. She saw them just this morning when Emily picked her up, however she already missed them.
Sure, she knew that they had to work, they just created that new facility, but that didn’t mean that she liked it when they left. She wanted to spend more days with them watching movies and joking around. Wanted to spend more nights like that first one. But lately, in the past few days since they showed her what pleasure was, there had been no more sex. Caleb cuddled with her at night and kissed her quite frequently when they were together, but Seth had been keeping his distance—both physically and emotionally. He gave in a time or two and let her snuggle up to him while watching movies, but he didn’t initiate it.
She knew that she could not be the problem. She was an Angel; she was created perfect. Therefore something had to be wrong with Seth. Melody smiled at the thought. She was good at finding and implementing solutions. She could surely fix him. She just needed some advice on Humans.
Mel turned to look at Emily, as she happily discussed their shopping trip and how excited she was to know what affect the clothes had on Caleb. She would certainly know how to get Seth to open up.
“Em? I have a question. How do you get someone to show interest in you?” she asked.
“What? Caleb hasn’t shown interest in you? Oh, honey! I’m sure he has, and you just don’t know what it looks like. He kissed you before we left today! Has he done more than that?”
Mel could feel her face heating. Of course they did more, and it embarrassed her to even think about telling Emily what happened—her face started heating, probably leaving that mysterious red colour behind. “Yes. We… were intimate.”
“Oooh!” Emily squealed excitedly, “Tell me everything!”
Melody couldn’t help but laugh a little, her cheeks going even redder. “We, uhh, I can’t.” she confessed, dropping her head in defeat. She couldn’t let anyone into this personal experience. It felt wrong, but it could be how normal Human females act. She would have to weigh the possible risks against the rewards.
“Come on, you had sex with a hot guy! You can tell me something. He is the only man you’ve been with, right? The only man you were sexual with?”
At this, Melody realized that if she denied Emily, than it would seem odd and rude. She could reveal a little bit of information. That would surely be acceptable. She had already given in to buying a new outfit, and getting her ears pierced.—Emily seemed to expect it.
Remembering the sharp pain, Melody felt a tender lobe, it didn’t hurt anymore and stopped bleeding almost as soon as it started, she still didn’t understand why females put holes into their bodies, but Emily insisted that she needed them so that she could wear pretty earrings.
As if sensing Melody’s discomfort, Emily looked over. “Oh, sweetie. Does your ear still hurt? I’m sorry for making you get the piercing. I didn’t know that it wouldn’t work. But the piercing guy was so shocked when your ear healed over the stud! I heard you healed fast but wow! That was super-quick! Then it got all red and ucky!”
Melody turned quickly to face her new friend. She knew her face showed shock and panic, but it was what she felt—the emotions taking over, bubbling up inside her and restricting her breathing.
“Who told you that I heal quickly?”
Em smiled nervously and shook her head. “Sorry hun, but everyone in town is talking about it. It’s no big deal. Everyone has a little weirdness. Now, back to the important questions. Caleb is the only man you ever were sexual with, right?”
The change of topic confused Melody, but she knew that she wouldn’t get anything from Emily right now anyways. She’d have to tell Seth, and hope he wasn’t mad at her. But why would he be? It wasn’t her doing.
Melody shook her head at Emily’s question, then remembering that Em couldn’t see her while driving voiced her answer. “No. I, umm, did sexual things with someone else too.”
Emily’s interest grew at that. “Oooh. Who?” she asked, excitement evident in her voice.
“Well, ahh, Seth.”
The blonde girl braked so quickly that Melody was thrown against her seatbelt, leaving her breathless for a moment. Em didn’t seem to have that
problem, she just canted her body to look at Melody in surprised horror. “Seth?”
Melody looked around to see if there was traffic, scared that they might be hit, and even more nervous to finish this conversation. But she had to. It was not appropriate to not answer a question. It would be rude, and Melody didn’t want to seem rude.
“Yes. I was with Seth, as well.”
That didn’t seem to appease Emily though, she just watched, her mouth opening and shutting a few times. Finally she seemed to get her thoughts together. “Does Caleb know?”
What an unusual question. Caleb was there, so he had to know. It was his idea, after all. He convinced Seth of it and had organized it all. Melody just nodded her answer, unsure how to put her thoughts into words.
“Poor Caleb. That’s why he isn’t being close to you. It must hurt him to know that his best friend had sex with you. He must be really upset. Poor guy.”
Melody shook her head again, stalling in attempt to get her thoughts together. “It isn’t Caleb that’s the problem. And I did not have intercourse with Seth. I just… used my mouth.” At Em’s shocked look again, Mel tried to explain. “It is Seth that I want to be closer to. I am happy with my relationship with Caleb. But, Seth has been reserved and unsocial since that time. And now Caleb and Seth’s relationship seems strained.”
She didn’t want them to be unhappy. She wanted them to continue being friends. Caleb once told her that they were so close that they were virtually one person. He said that he couldn’t function without Seth. And she remembered their argument that night about her coming between them. She didn’t want that, and she didn’t understand how to fix the problem Seth was creating.
“No, no, no, no. You cannot play these men, Mel! I won’t let you hurt Caleb like that. He’s a nice guy and he seems to really like you. You are breaking his heart! You already cheated on him, you can’t do it again. You are probably hurting him. He trusted you and Seth and you guys betrayed him. You can’t see Seth. If you run into him, you have to ignore him, alright? It’s best for everyone. I mean, you should probably go away so that the boys can get over this, but if not, you just have to apologize to Caleb and pretend it never happened. Alright?”
Mel didn’t know what to say. She didn’t want to stay away from Seth, but he was distancing himself from her, and Em was right, she didn’t want to hurt Caleb. He was so nice to her, always making sure that she was happy. She couldn’t break his heart, whatever that meant. So Melody just nodded her understanding and kept to her own thoughts as Emily made the car start moving again and took them the rest of the way to the animal clinic.
Once there, Emily parked and went into the clinic with her. She had too much to think about without listening to more of Emily’s happy chatter, or more likely, appalled scolding, but she didn’t have a choice. It seemed that Emily was there to make sure she followed orders. Mel didn’t like disappointing her, or the boys, and felt deflated. She had worked so hard to be normal but it seemed like she was failing.
These Humans were curious, backward people. They told you to do something so that they could criticize you for it. They tested you so that you can fail. They were horrible, and if what she saw on the television program called ‘News’ was right, people did terrible things to people every day. This place, between Heaven and Hell was a playground for corruption and pain.
Melody rushed into the building, taking note of the restrictively humid heat that pulsed through the air. She didn’t want to stay outside any longer than she had to, why Humans would subject themselves to it, she didn’t know.
The air inside was much cooler. It was dry and relaxing after being outside, and she could feel her relief for making it inside without perspiring into her hair—that always made it look bad.
Once inside she stopped. There was a girl sitting at the wide built-in desk in the lobby. She sat with her sandal clad feet up, her hair held back messily by an elastic. Her hair was different colours! It was darker on the top, a colour that reminded her of dark chocolate, and transitioned to a blonde on the bottom. She had a look of disinterest as she chewed on something, her mouth hanging open, reminding her of a cow.
The girl was pretty enough, but had on too much makeup—as Emily liked to point out during the shopping trip—and she didn’t seem that interested her profession. However she did talk to a young man who reminded her of a puppy she saw earlier. They both turned to Mel as she came closer to the desk.
“Yes?” The woman asked, her eyes moving over Melody’s clothes as if sizing her up. She didn’t seem to like what she saw, which made Melody doubt the poor girl’s eyesight.
“Hi, I’m here to see Caleb. Is he busy? He told me to come here before going home.”
The girl let out a large, insincere sounding sigh, and looked at the appointment book in front of her, all the while making a popping sound with whatever was in her mouth. “Sorry, baby-cakes, but it seems like Seth’s all booked up. Caleb is helping with a surgery right now, won’t get done for a little while. If you’re waiting to talk to him about your animal, you better come in some other time. Unless you have an appointment?”
The boy smiled happily, “I could see what I can do. I don’t work here yet, I’m just training. My name is Ian, by the way!”
Melody shook her head and looked around the waiting area. It was plush, comfortable but empty. She could probably just wait until he was done. She wanted to let him know she was back, though, since he liked to know her whereabouts. “No, it’s not about an animal.” She said to the girl, then turned back to the guy. “I’m Melody and I’m staying with them, with Caleb.” She corrected. “Could you let him know I’m back?”
They both seemed to come to attention, whether it was because of who she said she was or because she was staying with Caleb, Mel did not know. But the girl seemed to consider her a little more intently this time.
“Oh! I’ve heard about you! You’re the fast healing one! I wonder how that works! Is there anything else weird happening? This is so interesting!” Ian said, looking over to Emily and blushing a little. “Hey, Em! What were you guys up to today?”
Em sighed, seeming a little uncomfortable. “So she heals quickly and is allergic to silver, that doesn’t make her weird, Ian. Leave it alone. We went shopping. She needed some new clothes.” Both the new people looked at her outfit, unsettling Melody.
Putting her hands in her pockets, Melody looked down at herself. Her clothes were new, the only pair she bought today. She wore jean capris that fit her well and a light purple short sleeved blouse. She had put her hair up in a clip that allowed some shorter strands to escape. It was difficult to function normally with her long cumbersome hair, she found, but didn’t cut it because Caleb asked her not to.
“Oh! So cool! How did you learn of your allergy? Is in it ingestible, or just when you touch it?” Ian asked, his curiosity would be cute, but Mel didn’t want to talk about it! She just wanted to leave! These people made her want to hide.
Apparently Emily noticed how she felt because she stepped up to Melody’s side. “Ian. Drop it. Really.”
Even the other girl took pity on her and barked an order to the young excited man. “Go do something else, weirdo! Seth isn’t paying you to chat up girlies!”
Finally the guy left, and Emily took the opportunity to leave as well, which meant that she was alone with the woman at the desk. She eventually looked back to Mel, her eyes sharp with intelligence, something that Mel missed the first time she inspected the girl.
“Ah, so you’re Melody, the cult escapee. I thought you’d be a little older. And a little.. well more. How old are you anyways, baby-cakes?”
Seth had coached Melody on how to answer these questions without lying. “I’m older than I look.”
The girl just nodded and then stood to reach over the counter. “My name is Brooklyn. I’m the new receptionist here. Nice to meetcha, Melly.”
Melody took her hand and shook it, just like Seth showed her, before releasing it
to step away a little. It was disconcerting to have the girl so close, especially with her cloying perfume. “I’d prefer if you called me by my full name, thank you.” She said, and looked around, hoping that Caleb or Seth would come out any second to save her.
It wasn’t that Melody didn’t like Brooklyn. She just didn’t really know how to react to her. She had never met someone so abrasive before. Seth could be cold in his own way, but this girl seemed to enjoy making Melody uneasy—maybe she acted the same towards everyone. It was bothersome.
“Whatever you say, Melly. Hey, you remind me of my sisters.” She said conversationally, sitting back in her chair to put her feet up once more. She seemed to watch Mel as she took a few steps back to sit in one of the overstuffed chairs.
“Oh, that’s nice.” Melody said, trying to get comfortable with Brooklyn watching her.
“Yeah, everyone in town likes them. They are twins! You’ll probably see Sophie around. Annie is in a coma, bad accident a few years back, so she’s at an assisted living facility in the neighbour town. Have you been shopping there yet?” she asked easily, going back to looking at her nails.
Mel nodded, looking around for some excuse to leave. The girl was nice enough, but she’d rather just spend time with Caleb.
“Good, good. It’s nice there. I go shopping there sometimes too. I went to a party there recently, lively thing. I think Caleb was there. Don’t see much of Seth out. He works so hard. I admire that actually. He’s got a dream and strives to make it happen. Nice guys. Good bosses so far too.” She laughed, as if she made some kind of joke, which Melody didn’t really understand.
Again, Melody just nodded and looked back to the open hallway, waiting. “Do you think you could go back and see if one of the guys are free? I just want to let them know that I’m done shopping. I should go home soon and start on supper.”
Brooklyn laughed again, a rough sound that sounded like she smoked too much. “Yeah yeah, sure. A domestic gal, are ya? Cool. I wish I could cook. Can’t hardly make cereal.” She said, pulling herself out of the chair and over to the intercom on the wall.
