“Of course not,” Harley said.
“Then come,” April said. “I’ll show you the way. Believe me, Harley. It’s the only way you’re ever going to get to see Kingsley and Oak alive.

“Why are you telling me this? If you’re from the dark side, why would you help me?”
April shrugged. “I told you. I’ve always liked you, kiddo.”
“You think I have the power to save them and bring them back?” Harley said doubtfully, wondering how she could ever achieve such a feat.
“I know you can,” April said. “It’s sort of in you DNA. You know, between Stephen’s blood and that of the Queen of Spring, you’ve got a lot going for you.”
Taking in a shuddering breath, Harley looked at April and wondered just how much she could trust her. Then again, it wasn’t like she had many choices.
“I might have a lot going for me, but I still don’t really know what I’ve doing. I’m still a novice.”

“Don’t worry,” April said. “I’ll go with you.
I’ll help you to figure it all out.”
Or you’ll help destroy me for good, Harley thought.
“Look,” April said. “Despite my fall from grace and my affiliation with the Dark Fae Wizard, have I ever let you down? Have I ever hurt you in any way? And, believe me, I had plenty of opportunity to do just that. But I didn’t. In fact, I went out of my way to look out for you. Quite honestly, I’m not sure why, but there you have it.”
“Okay,” Harley finally said. “Fine. I’ll go, and you’ll come with me. But I’m telling you now; I don’t trust you.”
April chuckled. “Fair enough. Now come on,” she said, holding her hand out to Harley once more. “Let’s go save those adorable lovers of yours.”
Harley hesitated before finally taking April’s hands. “Yes. Let’s save the Fallen Fae boys.”
As April gripped her hand tightly, a thick black fog enveloped them, obliterating the sun and choking out the air.

Epilogue
Harley opened her eyes and looked up at a barreled ceiling with opulent gold trimming. Her gaze travelled down the wall, ornate with gold leaf, and a thick tapestry.
The room seemed somewhat familiar. She had designed this room. She had glamoured it, yet someone had changed her glamouring. It was now over the top and almost gaudy.
She brought her gaze to her immediate surroundings to find that she was lying on a black leather sofa adorned with blood red satin cushions.
“Ah,” a male voice chimed. “You’re finally awake.”
Harley sat up to find the dean sitting behind his large oak desk.

“Stephen,” Harley let out as her heart pounded.
“Oh, please, dear,” he said with a grin. “Call me Father.”
Jumping to her feet, she clenched her fist as her gaze darted all around the room. “Never,” she said breathlessly. “You’re not my father. You’re just a vulgar sperm donor who then left my mother to raise me on her own. And look at you. You’re a disgrace to the Kingdom of Spring.”
He let out a loud and sardonic laugh. “Oh,”
he said. “I do enjoy watching the build up of that fire in the pit of you stomach. You have it, Harley.
You have that passion as well as the magical power that every king and every general in the faery realm has been looking for. But I’m the one who has you.”
“Have me?” she spat. “You don’t have me.”
“Need I remind you what brought you here, Harley?” he said, his tone suddenly sober.
The conversation she’d had with Cici and Ashley suddenly came back to her. Kingsley and Oak. They were captive on the dark side, and she was the only one who could help them.

She looked for April who had promised to accompany her as she crossed over.
The Dark Fae Wizard stood and looked at his daughter. “I hope you will make me proud, my girl.
If you’ve inherited the Queen of Spring’s powers as we all know you have, you will indeed make me proud.”
Harley stared silently at him. He was such a large and imposing figure, so menacing and fearsome. How could she have come from his loin?
He came around his desk and approached her.
Resisting the urge to back away, Harley remained still as he reached out to run his finger along her cheek.
“My baby girl,” he whispered. “My offspring. You will make me the most powerful being, not only in the faery realm, but in the human realm as well.”
She stared at him for a long and stress filled moment as she thought of everything that she had to lose. Finally, she nodded. “Yes, Father.”
