With their help, I made it to Levi’s truck. Then, with the help of Archer, who had been driving past at that moment, I made it into the truck – which was the biggest miracle. Levi could have attached an elevator for the last three months of this pregnancy, and I still would have struggled to get in and out of the thing. Fortunately, him being there meant he could call Levi and my OB-GYN as he tried to get the seatbelt around my girth.
“If you say it doesn’t fit, I’ll shove a watermelon up your ass,” I growled, panting through the latest contraction.
Biting back a laugh, he said into the phone, “Yes, that’s your delicate flower. Oh, she’s just fine, don’t you worry. This is going to be the most memorable experience of your life.” Then he paused and looked at his sister, a grin I hadn’t seen a lot of on his mouth. “Say, do you have your phone fully charged? You need to record the birth for her so she can see the beautiful wonders of nature.”
Melting at his words, the true meaning of them lost on me, I sighed, “Aw, Archer, that’s so sweet. You’re my favorite you know.”
Turning the key in the ignition, the engine rumbled to life at the same time that Ariana flicked me on the side of the head. “Hey, I’m sitting right here.”
Almost like we were in a movie, Levi pulled into the parking lot and stopped right beside us. With the engine still running, he got out of the car and ran over to my door, pushing his brother out of the way.
“Are you ok? Where does it hurt?”
There was a thud and a beep of the horn as Ariana’s head dropped down onto the steering wheel. “I’m surrounded by imbeciles.”
Losing patience with it all, Bonnie and Dahlia got out of the back and walked around to join Levi and Archer at my door.
“Where do you think it hurts, Levi? She has a baby the size of a calf about to explode out of her vagina,” Dahlia snapped, pushing Archer to the side and reaching out for my hand, just as another contraction hit on the back of the previous one. “Um, they’re really close together, Charlotte.”
If I hadn’t been feeling what I felt now, I wouldn’t have said what I did next. “It feels like I need to poop, like now. It’s like a huge torpedo’s been launched.”
Shooting a nervous look at Ariana and nodding at whatever she did back, Dahlia asked, “Is it as bad as the biggest plug?”
I didn’t know, I’d never made it that far into the training kit. In fact, I’d managed plug number two in the lineup and had almost had to call for help when I couldn’t get it back out. Incidentally, that was the day I realized exactly how squeamish Levi was when it came to poop, and I got to call him a liar for saying he’d help me explore the dirtier side of sex with me. Not that I was disappointed, but my ass was going to remain a one-way street. Well, unless this kid ripped it open, and then it was going to be an interstate.
Groaning, I leaned back so that my back was across the length of the bench seat and my head was in Ariana’s lap.
“There’s a lot of pressure. Oh, shit the size of a truck! It was only five nuggets, why is it so bad?”
“Parker says you need to check her vagina,” she yelled at the group by my feet, making all of them take a step away from where they’d just been.
When no one stepped back to do it, I screamed, “Stop being pussies and look at my vagina!”
It was uncharacteristic for me, sure, but I was scared, I was in pain, and this wasn’t how it was supposed to go. More pregnancies and labors went right than wrong, but some still went wrong, and I was terrified something would happen to my son.
I still suffered from PTSD and flashbacks of the night Eric had taken me so I hadn’t been able to get my CNRN yet, but on the whole I was doing well - at least I had been until I’d found out that I was pregnant. After that, all the anxiety and worry had transferred onto the baby I was carrying and whether or not they’d be ok, so having it in a truck in a parking lot was bringing on an anxiety attack of epic proportions.
“I’ll do it,” a deep voice called out, one that was familiar but I just couldn’t place it.
“Fuck off, red cap,” Bonnie hissed, and I blushed at knowing that the pervert was right there.
The anxiety I’d just been feeling was taken over by anger that he was making my precious moment dirty. “Go shove a baseball bat up your ass, you dirty pervert. This is a beautiful moment, and I…” I broke off on a scream as something set my poor cooch on fire.
“Will one of you check her damned vagina,” Ariana yelled, losing patience now. “You need to be ready to catch the baby if he comes out.”
So, with Archer’s back to us, red cap long gone, and Bonnie doing her best not to faint, Dahlia brought my son Niklaus into the world, and passed him to his daddy. He was still attached to his mommy at that moment, so Levi had to step up close to me.
We’d decided on Niklaus because Elijah was going to be his godfather, and as we’d been watching The Originals one night, I’d come up with the idea of pairing the names of the two Mikaelson brothers together. Levi had been surprisingly enthusiastic about it, but when we’d told Elijah he’d burst out laughing thinking that we were joking.
Not about the name, mind you, about him being the godfather. Spoiler alert for him, we weren’t.

Each character that I write is different. Although some of the backgrounds might be similar, the personalities never are. Whenever I start a book, I have to spend some time thinking about the characters first, remind myself about the other ones personalities, and then figure out exactly how I want them to be inside. It’s not a quick process, but it means that I can understand them all better – especially if it’s a Townsend. Those guys are crazy, they’re deep, they all have their own quirks, and they’re a blast to write. I also fall in love with them quickly.
Why am I telling you this? Well, I knew who Levi was – especially after Until Fools Find Gold – and I knew how I wanted him to be. But I can absolutely confirm that I didn’t expect him to turn out to be a spanky alpha. Until now, Cole and Tate have always been my favorite Townsends, there was just something ‘special’ about the two of them. Now, though, it is absolutely Levi (and Cole, obviously).
I’ll also never be able to listen to Inside by Stiltskin again without blushing – thank you, Levi.
It’s been a big year for the Townsends and Providence Gold, and I just want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support, your patience, your awesomeness, and to wish all of you the very best for 2020.
Merry Christmas, guys, and I hope you have a wonderful time.

PS. Oh, and if you didn’t guess by the appearances in the book… the Providence Family Ties series starts in 2020, too. And these aren’t your normal Townsends, hell no. The Townsend-Rossi family are dark, they’re deep, they’re dirty, but they’re also Townsends so we can’t erase that from their stories completely. But it’s a whole new breed of Townsends that starts next year!
About the Author
I’m a British author who grew up all over the world. My parents were diplomats, so we were posted to all of the corners of the earth and it was a blast. Some wouldn’t seem so awesome if you heard about them, but my parents always made it a fun experience and it molded my brother and I into who we are today.
I live in Wiltshire in the west country of the UK. At random times of the day, I’ll hear a moo from the fields around me, or get a whiff of that…uhhh…’country air’, and I love it! I might not have grown up in the UK, but I’m a British girl to the bone (regardless of the suspicious whiffs coming in from the fields).
I’m a single mother with a son who is nearing his teenage phase. Maybe he’s reached it early? Who knows. But he’s awesome and has a personality and sense of humor that I can only attribute to my family. We’re slightly bonkers, we have a wicked sense of humor and we find the positives in every situation. I’m so proud to be his mum and to watch
him grow and mature.
Writing was something that I’d always done. I had a teacher in the third grade who always set us the task of writing a story and making it into a book every weekend. After I left school, I kept this up and wrote as often as I could or just plotted out books. This evolved into me taking the plunge and publishing my first book in 2016 and I’ve been typing ever since.
I’m proud to be an Indie Author, and I absolutely love writing out my crazy Providence characters and the more complex ones in my other series’. It doesn’t matter if it’s romantic comedy or something with more suspense – so long as it has a HEA I’ll do it!
I’ve got so many more planned, so the best is yet to come.
