‘When I woke up,’ she said, ‘I thought it was a dream.’
He shook his head. ‘The dead people were here. Michael was here. And the Skinner came to rescue us.’
‘No. You were the one who rescued us, Kenny. I stood up there and watched you smash Michael to bits.’
‘The Skinner showed me how to be brave.’
‘Will we see him again?’
‘Of course we will. The Skinner likes chocolate. We’ll take some to him right now.’
‘I haven’t got any chocolate.’
‘Neither have I.’ Kenny smiled. ‘But I know where there’s some in the fridge.’
‘You can’t. That’s Edith’s.’
‘She won’t mind. Not this time anyway.’
Augustine smiled. ‘Did you know that Edith asked Georgo to marry her?’
‘Georgo woke me up to tell me.’ They walked back to the house. ‘I don’t think we’ll ever see anything so strange in our lives as those two people on their wedding day.’
They passed through the living room.
Kenny noticed that on the screen of the eBook reader there were two large black words. He paused just for a moment in order to read that resonant message before it slowly faded away:

Simon Clark lives in the county of Yorkshire, deep in the old Viking heartlands of the North of England, the lair of mythical beasts, legendary heroes and epic battles.
Simon’s first book was Blood and Grit, which opened the hitherto closely shut doors of the publishing giants. Subsequently, he went onto write numerous novels, including the award-winning The Night of the Triffids, Blood Crazy, Death’s Dominion and Lucifer’s Ark. His latest novel is Whitby Vampyrrhic, set on the East Coast of England during World War II. This blood-drenched tale dips once more into the Norse-Vampire mythology Simon created for Vampyrrhic.
