  Chapter One

A cacophony interrupted my breakfast. Or perhaps I should say; a cat-ophony. Roarke and Anna had just returned from their honeymoon in the Human Realm. It was my gift to them; a vacation in Greece. Arach had advised against it, saying that Fire Faeries wouldn't want to be surrounded by so much water, but I disagreed. Both Anna and Roarke hadn't begun life as Fire Faeries, and I thought they'd be more open to appreciating the island experience. Roarke had been to Hawaii with me, but Anna had never been to the Human Realm, and neither of them had ever been to Greece. I was betting that they'd love it. If for no other reason than it was something they'd never seen before. Plus, it was warm, and neither of them liked the cold.

“How was Santorini?” I asked the newlyweds as they stepped into Aithinne's dining hall with the crowd they'd accumulated on their way through the castle.

Both of them looked tan and blissful. Anna's sun-kissed skin did wonders for her pale looks, making her white hair seem even more exotic. They both had to wear glamours while in Greece but only over their eyes. Fiery irises couldn't be explained by contacts. Now that they were home, their blazing stares were on full display, along with their bright smiles. Within the dark stone room, the couple shone like stars.

“It was fantastic!” Roarke exclaimed. “We laid on the beach and swam in the ocean and made lo—”

Anna smacked her husband's chest just in time and then looked pointedly at their son, Hunter, who was standing between them, holding their hands. Hunter looked up expectantly at his father; no doubt wondering what his parents had made in Greece. Hunter was a mini version of Roarke; fiery cat eyes, dashing good looks, and ebony hair. Seeing him staring up at his father with such sublime innocence while Roarke looked anything but, amused me to no end. I burst out laughing.

“We made lots of sandcastles,” Roarke corrected himself smoothly. “Sandcastles everywhere; the most glorious sandcastles I've ever made.”

I laughed harder while Anna rolled her eyes.

Hunter had stayed behind in F
aerie while his parents went to Greece, much to his chagrin. His mother explained that honeymoons are for the couple only, and he had finally relented. But Hunter had missed his parents fiercely, and his relief at their return was obvious. A week must have seemed like an eternity for a child who hadn't been separated from his adoring parents since he was a baby.

“What are sandcastles?” Hunter asked eagerly.

“You take wet sand and form it into shapes,” his mother explained. “You can make any kind of sculpture you wish, it doesn't have to be a castle, but people seem to enjoy those the most.”

“Yes. Your mother and I made lots of different kinds.” Roarke smiled at his son and then waggled his brows at his wife.

“Stop it.” Anna smacked her husband in the chest again.

“That doesn't sound like a smart thing to build a castle out of.” Hunter scowled up at his parents in confusion.

“They're for fun, Son.” Roarke ran his hand playfully over Hunter's mop of curls. “You make them and then leave them for the ocean to wash away.”

  “Like my wooden blocks?”

“Yes, exactly,” Anna confirmed. “Except the water knocks them down instead of you. Although, you could if you wanted to.”

“I want to make sandcastles!” Hunter declared.

“We'll go back again,” Roarke promised. “All three of us.”

  “Really?”

  “Really.” Roarke nodded.

“Yay!” Hunter looked over at my twin sons, Rian and Brevyn, who were standing among the throng that had come in with them. “I'm going to the greasy place to destroy sandy castles!”

“Yay!” My boys joined him in celebrating.

“It's Greece, Son. Not greasy,” Roarke tried to correct Hunter, but the boys were already running off to plan their sandy castle destruction in the greasy place.

I smirked; now Roarke knew my pain. I'd been putting up with Arach's endless slaughter of the English language ever since we'd met.

Roarke just shook his head at his son then started regaling us with tales of his adventures on Santorini. That he managed to get into trouble on a tiny island didn't surprise me; it's a Cat-Sidhe trait compounded by Roarke's reckless curiosity. Plus, I suspected that half of his stories were tall tales. I suspected this because Anna grimaced her way through them.

During a particularly interesting story involving hummus and hat seller, Rian came up to me to pester me about something. At first, I ignored him—something I never do—but he kept pulling on my sleeve and continuing the monotonous litany of children everywhere; Mother, mother, mother. Finally, I lifted my hand to shove him away. Right before I hit my son, I froze and turned to stare at him in horror.

“Mother?” Rian asked with wary confusion.

I swallowed my shock and pasted on a grin. “Yes, honey?”

“Can Brevyn and I take Hunter flying?”

Brevyn had recently borrowed Arach's magic; his dragon magic. Brev had shocked us all by turning into a miniature version of Arach's crimson dragon while we were in the God Realm. He had yet to release the magic in exchange for another so he still had the ability to shift. Rian already had the ability and was overjoyed that his brother could do the same things he did. Both boys were loving it; going flying nearly every day. Sometimes, they'd take Hunter with them, clutching his shoulders—one to either side—to carry him along beneath them.

“It's fine with me but ask Queen Anna first,” I said breathlessly.

  “Okay!” Rian ran off.

I watched him go and noticed Brevyn standing at the bottom of the dais steps, waiting for Rian. His solemn stare found mine and the resigned sorrow in it made me shiver. With a startled gasp, I started to get up to ask Brevyn about the look, but he only shook his head and ran off with his brother.

“A Thaisce?” Arach laid a hand on my shoulder. “Are you all right?”

I turned to face my husband and smiled brightly. “Just fine.”

“Good.” Arach grinned back. “You were right.”

  “About what?”

“Greece,” Arach said with a frown. “They loved it. I'm glad you didn't listen to me.”

“I think I may have to write that down and note the date,” I teased. “The day Arach admitted that I was right and I shouldn't listen to him.”

“That is not what I said.” He chuckled. “I knew I shouldn't have praised you. I give you an inch and you take what's mine.”

“I take a mile,” I corrected him as I shook my head. “You give me an inch, and I take a mile.”

“Ah, yes, because of measurements.” He pondered this.

“Besides, I already have everything of yours that I want.”

  Arach smirked. “Do you now?”

I nodded as I leaned forward and laid my hand over his heart.

Arach sighed deeply. “I was hoping you would lay that hand a bit lower.”

“Naughty dragon!” I smacked him playfully.

“All I am is yours, A Thaisce,” he whispered as he pulled me closer. “But if there's anything else you desire, all you have to do is ask, and I shall give it to you.”

“I know,” I said smugly and then laughed at his annoyed expression. “Because I've seen you in action, honey, and nothing stops my dragon from getting what he wants, especially if he wants to give it to me.”

Arach rumbled happily in his throat. “Nice recovery.”

“I'll be even nicer if you take me upstairs,” I whispered in his ear. “Maybe I'll even let my hand wander lower.”

Arach made a growling groan as he surged to his feet, taking me with him. In seconds, I was in his arms, and he was rushing through the hall heading straight for the central stairs that would take us to our bedroom. Our fire faeries respectfully moved out of the way, long used to their monarchs' odd behavior.

  Chapter Two

Within seconds of locking our bedroom door, Arach had me naked beneath him on the bed. I ran my fingers through his blood-red hair as he nuzzled his face between my thighs. Then he shifted his stare up to watch me as he split me with his tongue; a long, languorous lick. I made a delighted gasp, and the encouraged Dragon King lowered his head to focus fully on his task.

I laid back against a pile of pillows and enjoyed the view as well as my husband's talented tongue. Arach's Dragon-Sidhe blood allowed him to lengthen that appendage whenever he wished; a partial shift that he now made good use of. Hard, slick heat filled me, thrusting in imitation of a different body part. Combined with the sucking and shifting of his mouth, it nearly sent me into an orgasm.

  But something held me back.

A low moan trembled over my lips as I ran my hand lovingly over Arach's broad shoulders, admiring the dips of his muscles. In a second, that love turned into possession, and I clutched at him tight enough to draw blood. Instead of being upset by this, Arach rumbled in pleasure and lifted his head to nip at my thigh. As he lapped up the tiny trickle of my blood, I lifted my fingers to my lips and sucked at his.

Arach's recent memories exploded inside my mind. Him watching me as I smiled at Roarke and Anna. The feel of my hand in his. The way the sunlight caught the starlight strands in my hair. I felt his love like a flow of lava; slow to come but steady and searing when it arrives and utterly immovable after its settled. That kind of love is forever; nothing could end it. Although, it could shake a bit now and then...

“Vervain!” Arach snarled as he lifted himself above me suddenly. “What in all the realms happened with Rian?”

I froze. Right; my recent memories—which Arach would be experiencing through my blood—would show him not only my interaction with Rian but also what I had felt during it. What I had wanted to do to our son.

“Arach,” I whispered in horror. “I... I don't know what—”

“You wanted to strike Rian?” Arach roared as he lifted me by my upper arms. “Hit him? What's wrong with you, Vervain?”

I roared back. The sound was earth-shaking and full of more than my dragon. My lion, my wolf,
and even my jaguar—my nahual—joined my dragoness. All of us merged to dominate our mate. We'd had enough of this male dragon bullshit. This male dragon shit. I laughed at the thought, and Arach gaped at me. While he was in shock, I shoved him onto his back and mounted him, taking that beautiful shaft into my body. He was mine—this was mine—and I wouldn't let him deny me.

I started a steady and strong grind as I stared him down. Arach groaned beneath me, his hands lifting to massage my breasts as if they acted on their own. He started to speak, but I grabbed his jaw and pushed his mouth shut as I increased my pace. Arach's eyes started to glow as they widened, and I thought he might fight me. But he didn't. Instead, he lifted his hips and drove himself even deeper.

A satisfied purr vibrated out of my throat, and I leaned down to nuzzle my cheek adoringly against my mate's. His arms came up around me, pulling me closer, and I covered his mouth with mine. I took control of the kiss as well, shoving my tongue past his lips and tangling it with his. Arach started making savage sounds, his body tensing beneath me and his hands clutching at my hips. I braced my palms on his chest and held him down as I slammed myself onto him rapidly.

Within my mind, starlight exploded and I felt the tingling touch of the Nine Great Magics. They were so near, trailing their teasing power over my skin. I could grab onto one of them and change the world. Before I could contemplate that further, the Void reached out to me, offering up its creation magic. I could shape the dark matter of the universe and form a new race from it. I didn't need Faerie's help to create life; I was the Trinity Star. I could do anything.
