“Yeah, but it gets old really quick, especially if Uncle Dane makes it political.”
“That bad, huh?” he asked, a lilt in his voice.
“Oh yeah,” I answered, without hesitation, and he laughed. “And just so you know, everything’ll probably be worse because they know I’m bringing somebody,” I added, then looked at him again, and laughed, softly. “So prepare yourself.”
“Okay.” He smiled.
“I told Mom to tell them to be nice, but I don’t think it’ll happen, at least not after they realize you’re the one from Christmas.”
“Oh yeah.” He laughed a little. “I completely forgot that they caught us.”
“Yeah.”
“So, they don’t know that that was me?”
“No, I just told Mom to tell them that I was bringing somebody and to be nice, but nothing else.”
“Oh, okay.”
