Protecting His Mate (Wolf Shifters 0f Wakerlin Book 5) Page 7

by Alicia Banks

Sebastian started to contort as the language of hell affected him. He screamed as he chanted, his eyes wide in pure terror. Gashes appeared on his body, and he bled profusely onto the ground. Yet, he chanted.

Eric saw him raise a knife, pointing the blade towards Bellatrix. He tried to move but he was too weak. He could tell that Sebastian was ending the ritual. He knew that it was all over.

  Chapter 19

  Bellatrix

Her body was weak. She couldn’t move even a single muscle. The arcane language of hell had stripped her of what little power she had left. She watched as Eric tried to crawl towards her, desperately trying to save her. She watched as her brother and her pack withered in pain, torn apart by the foul words. She felt tears fall down her eyes. They had all come to save her, and they would all die because of her.

She felt the horror of what was about to happen. Of what this world was about to become. She watched as Eric, even though in agony because of the chanting, struggled to crawl towards her. It was too late. She just wished that he had a peaceful end. That soon enough they would all be free from this horrible pain.

Sebastian was now standing behind her, his knife raised high. She knew that at any moment he would plunge it into her back. She closed her eyes, letting her tears fall.

“I unite!” Sebastian shouted, ending his chant. “I unite the powers of this wolf and myself. I unite and present the ultimate sacrifice. Revive, my master! Revive!”

Bellatrix waited for the knife to plunge in her back, but it never came. Instead, something pushed her away. She fell back, still tied to the chair, crashing on the ground. She opened her eyes and saw Eric. He had somehow managed to push past the pain and push her out from the circle. He was now standing face to face with Sebastian.

Sebastian was screaming in fury as Eric held onto his wrists, struggling as best he could. Bellatrix felt a force. A strong powerful force generating within the circle. It accumulated and then burst suddenly, lashing out everywhere. Bellatrix screamed, closing her eyes, as the force passed through her body.

She didn’t know what she was expecting, but nothing happened. She slowly opened her eyes and realised that the chains had broken under the power of the force. She struggled to get out, looking wildly around for Eric.

She found him lying in the center of the circle, barely breathing. She crawled towards him as fast as she could, shouting his name. She reached him and pulled him into his arms. He was barely breathing; his heartbeat was weak and febrile.

“What happened?” She heard her brother shouting. “Where is Sebastian?”

“Destroyed,” Elder Lawson said. “The circle was made of evil, and it was used for evil. When Eric ran in to sacrifice himself for Bellatrix, he brought the pure emotion of love in the circle. The evil could not withstand a powerful and pure emotion such as that. The ritual reversed on him, and he has been destroyed.”

Bellatrix hugged Eric close to her chest. She could not believe what had happened. She couldn’t lose Eric. He was her everything. He was the reason she wanted to live. She couldn’t lose him. She couldn’t.

It had been a month since the incident had happened. The pack was slowly but surely healing. There had been heavy casualties, many had died. The memorial stone that the pack had, which carried the names of brave warriors, was once again engraved with new names. The pack tried to adjust with the loved ones that they had lost.

Bellatrix sighed, slowly walking around the forest. She had returned back home after the incident. She needed somewhere to heal. She needed to be home. She needed to be with her family.

“Bella?” a soft voice called, and she turned around. It was Isabella, her brother’s mate. “Are you alright? Are your wounds healing well?”

“Yes,” Bellatrix replied, sighing. “Fortunately, nothing that bastard did was permanent. I will be alright, according to the healers.”

“I am glad,” Isabella said, giving her a hug.

  “Where is Dominque?” Bellatrix asked.

“He went to say goodbye to Marco,” Isabella replied. “They really helped us. Without them we might not have pulled through.”

Bellatrix nodded. She didn’t have much to say.

  “How is Eric?” Isabella asked.

“Still in a coma,” she replied, feeling her eyes fill with tears. “The way he has been for the past month. The healers don’t think he will ever come back.”

“I am sorry,” Isabella whispered, pulling her close for a hug. Bellatrix smiled at her, before making her way back to her cabin. She entered and slowly walked towards the bed where Eric lay. His eyes were closed, his breathing shallow. Even though he breathed, and his heart was beating, the healers suspected that his mind was too damaged from the pain.

They said that if he ever came back again, he might not remember anything. Bellatrix sat down next to him, slowly taking his hand in hers.

“Eric,” she whispered. “I am here my love. I know you will wake one day, and I am going to be here, waiting. They say that I should let you go. They say that your mind is too damaged. But not matter what, my love, I will always be here. I will always be at your side.”

She gently kissed his forehead, before softly stroking his hair. She smiled as she looked down at him. He looked so peaceful and content. Bellatrix felt tears fall down her cheeks and she whispered, “Please, Eric. Wake up. You said you would do anything for me. Please. Please, wake up,” she whispered.

She closed her eyes, letting her tears fall down her cheeks. She squeezed his hand, pulling it towards her chest and hugging it.

“Oh, moon spirit,” she whispered. “Please. Please. Please.

“I will never leave you,” she cried. “Never.”

“Bella?” a voice gasped out, and she instantly looked up. Eric’s eyes were open, and he was looking right towards her.

“Eric,” she gasped. “Oh, thank God. Eric!”

Eric gave her a small smile, clearly too weak to speak. But it didn’t matter. Bellatrix leaned over to kiss his forehead. He had come back to her.

“Eric!” she cried. “I love you!”

He came back for her. He was hers, and she was never going to let him go. Never again.
