Speaking of tightening the story: Jenna reigns. Her edits help immensely with any of my projects, but I would say she’s grown in those skills as much as I have in my writing. Jeff calls me out on my stupidity, so don’t worry if you’ve been wondering whether or not that slot needs filling. Shelby remains my most ardent cheerleader and Peter my grounding. Caleb and Nils are invaluable sounding boards, and I wish that Ali had the time to join us again (for so many reasons).
New to the team on Dark Horse was Chereese, whose proofs gave me peace of mind. The artwork by Marie Bergeron was a pleasure to engage with and see transform. It’s not precisely what I had envisioned when we set out, but you chose the artist for their ability and their style, not what’s in your head. I’m very proud of what she made and so happy to add it to the shelf.
Thanks to my parents for letting me pursue creative nonsense instead of pushing me into something more lucrative. My dreams remain relatively uncrushed thanks largely to your endless love and support. Kaarin, I’m super stoked that you met the man you’re even less likely to kill than me while living together. I’m really happy for you both and excited to welcome Kevin into the family (but he doesn’t get his own acknowledgement yet - he has to earn that).
Thank you to Nimit for being a constant inspiration, and to our Kickstarter backers who made Into the Nanten: Fall of the Arbor King possible. I really have so many people to be thankful for. As always, I fear I’ve left someone out. If I have, forgive me. I’ll send you a postcatcard to make up for it.
About Jay Swanson
Jay is the author and producer of Into the Nanten - the world’s first real time fantasy blog. He has self-published three books that comprise the Vitalis Chronicles trilogy, and has another book on the way later in 2015 that will coincide with the release of Season two, Fall of the Arbor King, on intothenanten.com.
Jay was born in eastern Washington State - but when he travels he just tells people he’s from “Outside Seattle” because that’s about as close as most people get.
He volunteered on the world’s largest charity hospital ship for three years in a variety of African nations. Those experiences have offered a lot of inspiration for his writing. He is also really good at Crash Team Racing and will throw down at the drop of a hat.
If you’d like to get in touch with Jay, you can follow his blog at www.jayswanson.me or on Twitter @jayonaboat. If you would take the time to review this book where you picked it up, he’d be most appreciative.
