Sarah reached over and took the card from Kerry’s hand. Her eyebrows rose as she read the details. ‘Lisa McIntyre from Kent, England,’ she squealed. ‘Not the Lisa McIntyre who reads for the Hollywood stars on TV?’
‘The same one,’ Kerry answered, almost boastfully. ‘She recently returned to England from the US. Lisa is coming to stay with me for a short while as a holiday. We’re the best of friends. She’s hoping not to be recognised while she’s here, so please don’t go spreading it around.’
Sarah nodded her head and said nothing.
‘I told her about your case and she said she will help us out. She’s quite intrigued.’
‘Can I afford her?’ Sarah asked, knowing a psychic who read for celebrities would not come cheap.
‘We discussed that and she is going to charge you the same rates I do. Would that be okay?’
Sarah’s excitement rose to the fore. ‘Let’s do it.’
‘Great,’ said Kerry, slapping her hands on her knees. ‘Lisa is arriving on Monday. I shall get her to ring you when she is ready. Is everything above board for you?’
‘I’ll make the arrangements. My father is flexible now that his eyes have been opened. My aunt insists I stay with her in Rocky if I’m required to have a long stay.’
‘Good, we’ll be in touch then.’
Lisa did not waste any time when she arrived in Rockhampton.
Upon meeting Lisa, Sarah noted how alike she looked to Kerry. They could have passed as sisters. She had that same welcoming grin. Both had haircuts with zany colours. Their skin tone was much the same, pale with an array of faintly visible freckles. Even their eyes were a similar green. Sarah warmed to Lisa instantly.
Soon, Sarah was sitting in Kerry’s office talking with Lisa like they were old friends.
Their friendly chatter gave way to a more serious mood when Lisa began her examination. Her concentrated stare was steely as she conducted her reading.
‘Did you bring with you a personal item that I can use? It helps me to pick up on your energy.’ Lisa had stipulated this on the phone to Kerry.
Sarah slipped the gold ring off her finger and passed it to Lisa. The ring was a gift from Sarah’s father for her sixteenth birthday.
Lisa twirled the ring in her hand. Her eyes were sealed as she concentrated.
‘You are cursed. You have a negative energy attached to you. This entity is malevolent. It was created from all the evils that went on in the Bennet abbey, especially towards the children. This entity has been festering for centuries.
‘It’s amazing you were so receptive to hypnosis. Generally, people cannot be hypnotised if they have a spirit attached to them. You were not originally its target. The children were. You were its tool. This entity is hungry for children’s souls. There was a great deal of bad feeling between you and the girls. This made you an open vessel and allowed it to possess you.
‘Subconsciously, you have battled against this thing. At some point in your life, during one of your reincarnations, you made a redeeming decision to stay away from children and not to harm them.’
‘Why does it keep attaching itself?’ Sarah asked.
‘The spirit regrets not having a body of its own,’ Lisa continued. ‘It likes taking charge of your body and it keeps returning in future lives to re-experience the feelings you had when you were Beatrice Clarke. It enjoys the build-up of emotion to your dying in the fire.
‘You are an extremely spiritual being. Entities are attracted to certain energy vibrations. Once they find someone that emanates that vibration, they latch on. They only target light workers—those who are very intuitive, channel, dowse, or have a strong link with their spiritual soul. That link is the only way they can influence you.
‘It’s quite common for entities to bond to the person they have occupied and return to that person. They develop a comfortable connection and simply want to continue the relationship. They leave at death and wait until the person is reborn to re-attach. Attaching at birth is easy for them because the birth trauma stuns the light protection.
‘Unless you go back in time to the life the entity attached itself to and remove it, rectifying the carry-forward energy that comes across the dimensions of time is impossible.’
Lisa opened her eyes. ‘Oh dear, you really are cursed. I’m going to go back to the time you were Beatrice Clarke. See what I can pick up.
‘For a while in the early development of this entity’s manipulations, you hesitated to go into the old abbey. You had already sensed something was wrong about the place.
‘Rather than entering the old building, you visited when your neighbours were outdoors. But one day, after holding such resentment towards the girls, you were prepared to go over to the abbey and confront them. Prior, the girls had turned on you when you tried to join them in their garden for a tea party. They had accused you of bewitching them and attacked you. You refused to speak to them afterwards, but instead of the incident subsiding, it stewed. You needed to have it out with them to get it off your chest.
‘The evil entity attached itself as soon as you entered the building. I’m afraid with you being highly sensitive, it possessed you. They usually can’t possess you unless you invite them in and your resentment towards the girls was an open door.
‘Leading up to that moment, the girls started behaving peculiarly towards you by taunting you and sometimes physically attacking you. They started to call you a witch in front of their guests and accused you of bewitching them.
‘One day in particular, Lady Bennet’s parents were staying with the family. Freya was in a trance, and Lady Bennet and her mother were at Freya’s side when you and your mother came over. No sooner had you and your mother taken a seat the child yelled out, “Look, Grandma, the witch! Have you ever seen one more like a witch than she? I can’t stand to look at her.”
‘You gave the girl a look of disdain, so Antonia slapped you hard. She then walked back to her seat, leaving you and your mother lost for words. You held onto your cheek.
‘I can feel it now. It’s really burning.’
Sarah noticed the side of Lisa’s cheek was red.
‘At first, Mrs Bennet and her mother thought nothing of the comment. Freya had been sick on and off and was terribly sleep deprived. Besides, they were a level-headed family who did not believe in witches or magic.
‘However, because Freya continued to get worse, the parents sent her urine away to Dr Spade of Cambridge. He sent back three lots of medicine at different intervals. When the treatment did not work, the doctor asked if there were any signs of sorcery or witchcraft involved that the parents could see.
‘After about a month, Antonia fell to the same illness that was affecting Freya.
‘Antonia would cry out all day long, “Take her away. Don’t let her near us. She has bewitched us and she will kill us if you don’t keep her away.”
‘This confused the parents because you were never around when she would yell such things. Apparently, you were appearing as an apparition only she could see. Sometimes you came as yourself and other times you were a familiar.’
Lisa fiddled with Sarah’s ring. Her channelling was clear due to all the sessions that had been done previously in Kerry’s office. The residual energy still permeated the air.
‘Freya, who was the worse of the two girls, was grievously tortured. She was taken away from home at one stage, but could not overcome her fits. Her problems followed her.’
‘I keep hearing about these fits the girls were having,’ Sarah said. ‘What were their symptoms? Can you describe them to me?’
‘Sometimes they would scream, moan, and cry aloud for a space of half an hour. Other times they would be still and quiet, as though in a trance, and soon after they would begin to swell and their stomachs would heave. No one was able to hold them down.
‘There were a variety of incidences. Sometimes, parts of their body would shake out of control or their whole body convulsed. Other times, they behaved provoc
atively or like animals. This behaviour usually happened when they had an audience.
‘Freya would screech and groan fearfully. Sometimes she would bounce her body on her bed with such violence she would end up on the floor. When she sat in a chair, her fits would cause her to break it.
‘The Bennet daughters could not hear, see, or feel while they were in these fits. When they came good, they would have no memory of what they said or did. They would have fits up to six or seven times a day. When their symptoms escalated, they were predisposed to contortionism.’
Lisa closed her eyes and slightly tilted her head back as she sank further into her seat.
‘Freya was dying. The likelihood of her perishing was what invoked Mr Bennet’s final decision that they were bewitched.’
‘Was it me who was harming these girls?’ The question plagued Sarah.
‘Oh Lord, no! The evil entity was behind all the torment. You were not evil. You were angry with the girls, but it was not in your nature to be so cruel.
‘This entity was manipulating you and the girls, along with the parents and everyone else in the household. All of you were in a vicious cycle. You were finding it hard to forgive the girls because your head was full of bitter thoughts and they felt the same.
‘You are cursed with this horrible thing. It will attach itself for every reincarnation unless something is done. You need someone powerful enough to banish this thing and luckily, Sarah, I’m that person.’
Lisa stopped turning the ring in her hand and looked Sarah in the eyes. ‘You may not wish to hear this, Sarah, but I must tell you. This thing will one day have you taking young lives. It will keep attaching itself until it owns your soul.’
Sarah shuddered at the thought.
Lisa handed the ring back and Sarah slipped it onto her finger.
‘Now,’ Lisa exclaimed. ‘It is important we remove this attachment from you and break this curse ASAP.’
Sarah was willing to do it right there and then.
‘I would like at least a day to prepare.’ Lisa saw the drop in her client’s face. ‘This entity is an aggressive force and we are in for a battle, Sarah. But we’ll see it through, I promise you that.’
On that note, Sarah’s face lit up again.
‘Can you come in tomorrow, same time?’
‘Yes, I can.’
‘Good.’ Through prayer, Lisa bound the entity so it could not resist. She sent Sarah home with a bit of homework to do. Sarah was given a routine to follow as protection, in case the entity had enough strength to free itself.
‘You may experience increased activity before we start tomorrow,’ Lisa informed Sarah before she left. ‘It already knows our intentions. I’ve trapped the entity in a sealed curse. It cannot do anything. Like the entity has the power to freeze our mobility, we too have the power to immobilise it. The seal should hold until tomorrow. Call on your guides to protect you until I can help you tomorrow and, most importantly, stay calm.’
Sarah smiled. Her spirit knew she could trust Lisa’s instructions.
Sixteen
Sarah walked into Kerry’s office looking pale. She was surprised to see Kerry and her receptionist there too.
‘Morning, Sarah,’ Lisa said. ‘I’ve brought reinforcements—Kerry, of course, and I hope you don’t mind if Gillian joins us. She’s in training.’
‘How could I refuse,’ Sarah said. The young receptionist looked so eager Sarah would hate to dampen her spirits.
Clearly, she made the girl’s day, for Gillian raced up to her and threw her arms around her.
‘Great,’ Lisa said. ‘Gillian, go get the incense burner and all the supplies, will you?’ Lisa was eager to get started. ‘Don’t forget the black candles.’
Gillian released Sarah and raced off. Sarah envied her youthful exuberance, impressed as she flittered around and gathered all the supplies in record time.
The women set up the office to create the spiritual ambience Lisa was aiming for. If she were to stay in control when summoning the bad spirits, she needed a stage that worked for her.
They burned an incense Sarah was not familiar with. Sarah became nauseous and the colour drained from her face. Her head started pounding.
Kerry, noticing all was not well, walked up to Sarah and opened her arms. Sarah walked into them and laid her head on her saviour’s shoulder. Funnily enough, it made everything alright. Kerry let her stay in that position until Sarah was ready to let go.
Kerry had failed to mention Sarah’s low tolerance for scented candles and incense to Lisa. She was about to enlighten Lisa, but Lisa had already picked up on the missing detail.
Lisa walked over to the huddled pair and placed her hands on Sarah’s head. With closed eyes, she chanted a special prayer. Her lips moved, but she prayed in silence, persisting until Sarah’s headache and nausea was gone.
Lisa left Sarah to bask in her healing. Before Kerry broke away, she left Sarah with a few words of encouragement. ‘Don’t worry too much, you’re in the best hands.’ The expression on her face resonated pride. There was no doubt Kerry held her close friend in high esteem.
They all moved into their positions, with Sarah on the couch and Lisa in the big chair, and Kerry and Gillian sitting at her side.
Lisa prayed before speaking to Sarah with her eyes closed. ‘Remember, Sarah, stay calm. Remember, everybody, when dealing with attachments, the first step is to conquer your fear.’
On that note, their demeanours instantly shifted.
Lisa started the session by binding the entity and trapping it in the spirit world through prayer, as she did the day before. She was rendering its powers useless. The entity was stuck in an abyss that the Catholic referred to as purgatory. Although it was in purgatory, the entity still remained inside Sarah’s body.
It was going to take a spiritual warfare for the entity to release itself from Sarah. Once it agreed to release itself, Lisa was prepared to send it through a portal to the netherworld where it belonged.
After binding the entity, Lisa explained to the women how to protect themselves.
‘Every time you’re going to fight evil, always safeguard yourself,’ Lisa advised.
Even though Kerry was an experienced and well-accomplished specialist by her own right, she was happy to perform under Lisa’s tutelage. She had a lot to learn from her best friend and mentor. Lisa had a brightness about her that motivated everybody around her.
As instructed, Kerry did a ritual to protect herself. When all the women were armoured, and the entity was trapped, Lisa began orchestrating the expulsion.
‘I ask in God’s name, do I have enough energy connections to completely release this entity?’
Lisa heard a disembodied ‘yes.’ Sometimes it was a voice in her head, but not on this occasion.
‘From my heart and all my being, I invite my divine soul to merge with me now. In a sacred way, I invite divine light into my heart and my entire being. I invoke the highest divine beings and all my divine spirit teachers, healers, guides, and guardians to work with me now.
‘All that is done must be for the highest will and good to be in full alignment with my divine soul and purpose. I ask that the space I occupy be filled and surrounded with divine light and love as I continue.
‘I call on the angels of light from the schools of wisdom and knowledge. I ask that these angels explain to the entity in a loving and respectful way what is happening and to release the entity, honouring it for the lessons it has learned. I ask that it be treated with respect and dignity.
‘I ask the divine spirits to provide me with all that I need to release the negative energy and to replace the energy with concentrated love and light. I ask for this release to continue until all negativity is totally and completely removed from Sarah.
‘I ask that all the universes, domains, realms, and dimensions are made as one so that the entity can be released from her all at once.
‘I ask that a direct white light connection be made between S
arah and the schools of wisdom and knowledge, so that the released entity will be sent there immediately.
‘I also ask for anything else that the spirits think is relevant to enable this entity to be released forever.
‘After the full release of this entity, I ask that all past lives Sarah has lived with this entity be re-written to give honourable, joyous, and loving outcomes. This must be for the highest will and good of all.
‘Once Sarah is released from this entity, it is our intent that she be sealed from all entities that are not for her highest will and good.’
‘Repeat after me, Sarah,’ Lisa said. ‘I state in the name of God that I will no longer have this entity within my energy field and that it is no longer welcome here. By universal law, this entity must now leave as it is no longer wanted or needed. I command the entity to leave me now.’
Lisa congratulated Sarah when she was finished. ‘We have now reached the main part of the expulsion. The entity should reply yes to each statement. In God’s name, I ask this entity are you honourable?’
At first there was no answer, so Lisa asked a second time.
‘In God’s name, I ask this entity are you honourable?’ The candle light flickered.
‘Yes,’ said the voice from the spirit world.
‘Will you give me straight and true answers to all my questions?’
Again, the candlelight flickered. Sarah felt a slight breeze. Her hair danced as a gush of wind passed her by.
‘Yes.’
‘In God’s name, I fully relinquish every vow, judgement, contract, pact, and agreement Sarah made against you. I ask you to now relinquish every vow, judgement, contract, pact, and agreement made against Sarah. Will you do this?’
There was no response. The murals on the walls began to rattle. Kerry’s glamour photo fell to the floor and smashed. Gillian noticed the window was being bombarded by flies. They were flying at the glass, hitting it like kamikazes. The window sill filled up with dead flies. The sill looked like it was covered in raisins.
