“I’ll start with that after my exams,” I said.

“Apollo’s father told me that he had already been admitted early before registration. He’s got some deep connections with the school,” my father responded, waving his fork in circles in front of him.

I nearly fell out of my seat. “Apollo?”

“You know him, don’t you?” My father asked. “Troubled boy, but his father’s business if doing very well lately. Maybe we’ll have them over sometime.”

I wanted to jump across the table and shake some sense into my dad, but I knew it wouldn’t do much. He was thinking about business, not about whether Apollo and his family were halfway decent human beings, which they weren’t. I was pretty sure that Apollo’s dad made most of his money through deals with shady characters overseas.

I sighed. “He just got admitted back to Winterlake too.”

“His father must be pulling some strings. Maybe he could help with you as well,” my father suggested.

  My mother nodded in agreement.

I didn’t want to have anything to do with Apollo’s family. Even talking about it was making me lose my appetite. I figured it was best to exit this conversation before it got to be too much for me. I scooted my chair back and stood up. “I have to study more. That’s how I’m going to get in.”

“You’re not going to finish your dinner?” My mom asked, tilting her head to the side.

“I think you overcooked the vegetables,” my dad noted.

I shook my head, not wanting my mother to think it was her fault. “No, I just had a really big lunch. They had pizza today at school.”

She was overly sensitive about her cooking, and my father’s comments weren’t helping. They rarely did.

“Not very healthy,” my mom said, crinkling her nose. She was stick-thin and pretended to be concerned about my health. I knew it had more to do with my weight, which wasn’t actually an issue. I wasn’t ballerina thin. I was normal, but that wasn’t good enough for her.

“Which is why I’m not eating much for dinner. I’m watching my figure,” I lied. The truth was that smoking killed my appetite, along with my father’s distasteful ramblings about Apollo and his dad. I didn’t need to hear any more about this.

My mother seemed satisfied with my answer, nodding, and giving me a more genuine smile. “You’ll do well to watch yourself as you get older.”

My father patted his stomach. “Yeah, the pounds catch up to you.”

My mother shot him a stern glance. “They certainly do.”

I left the table, unable to stomach any more of the food of conversation. I felt that it was already growing heated at the mention of my father’s gut. It had grown larger over the years, but he wasn’t fat by any means.

I couldn’t think about much else other than how quickly my life had become tangled in Apollo’s again. He was just starting to become a memory when he pushed his arrogant way back into my personal space. This time, he came back with a vengeance.

I stomped up to my room, frustrated about issues that now la before me. It would be doubly hard to avoid Apollo if our families were going to do business together, and knowing my father, this was most certainly the case.

I dreaded to think of Apollo coming over for dinner and inviting his cock self into my room afterward while our parents were talking about what everyone else was doing. He would really let me have it if he got me alone like that, and I was unsure if I would be able to resist another swing at my virginity.

Dear Apollo, I hate you. That was my mantra now. I would do well to stick to it.

  Chapter 8

  The night brings mischief.

Getting to sleep wasn’t easy. I had a queen-sized bed with a thousand different sheets on it, but I could only find myself tangled and restless instead of cool and comfortable like I should have been. This wasn’t a normal night.

I thought about Apollo and his friends in the park, sipping on whatever expensive booze they could steal from their parents, while driving around like the bastards they were, revving their engines and running red lights like the laws didn’t apply to them just because they were rich.

I had a dream that Apollo was in my shower, the scent of pine and amber floating up in the steam as he cleaned himself up. I approached the shower and opened the door, only to find that he had someone slipped out without me seeing, hiding naked somewhere in my room.

I bolted awake, my heart pumping in my throat. I gasped for air. I had this thing where I held my breath during bad dreams.

I looked around the room, and nearly died from shock when I saw a face in my window. I scrambled up off my bed, toppling down on the floor before peeking back up. It was Apollo!

What the fuck was he doing here?

I stood up, squinting, and shaking my head to make sure I wasn’t still dreaming. Apollo waved at me, smiling drunkenly from the other side of the glass. He must have climbed up onto the roofing, because my bedroom was on the second floor, overlooking a piece of the roof.

I was so surprised that I didn’t even question what his intentions were. I forgot all about not talking to him, which seemed to be a regular thing now, and went to the window to let him in. I unlatched the window, pulling it open and stepping back as Apollo fell into my room with a thunderous thud.

“Shut the fuck up,” I warned. “My parents are going to hear you.”

Apollo looked up at me, peering up my long t-shirt from his spot on the floor. He could see up my shirt, and I wasn’t wearing panties. Fuck.

I tucked my t-shirt between my legs and took another step back. “What the fuck are you doing here?” I asked in a loud whisper.

“Just stopping by to see if you wanted to join me in the park,” Apollo said, slurring his words. He stood up, rocking from side to side like he could fall at any moment.

“You’re drunk as shit,” I said, shaking my head at him. “I’m not going to the park with you. I already told you to leave me alone.”

  “I don’t think I can,” Apollo said.

“What do you mean?” I asked, confused by what he was saying.

“I love you,” Apollo said, stumbling forward and faceplanting into my bed.

I groaned. He was more than drunk. He was completely wasted. I didn’t want him passing out on my bed, but I feared it was too late. Jumped onto the bed with him and pushed his heavy body, checking if he was still awake.

His head tilted up, looking at me with insanity in his eyes. “So, do you want to join me?”

“You need to leave, and no, I don’t want to join you,” I said. “Get off my bed.”

“Nah, it’s pretty comfy here,” Apollo said, pushing his arms out to the side and mimicking making snow angels on the sheets.

“Don’t get your dirty shoes on my bed,” I said, suddenly aware of how filthy he was. What had he been doing?

I pushed his clunky boots off to the side of the bed, unable to get them fully off of my pearly white sheets. I’d have to wash these tomorrow anyway, with his scent all over them.

“I can take them off if you want,” Apollo said, lifting his head again and grabbing my thigh. “Then we can really have some fun.”

My heart was beating faster than it had immediately following my nightmare, but then again, this was even worse. The man was drunk and, in my bed, confessing his love to me and trying to get me to sleep with him. I could hardly handle myself. My brain was trying to make sense of it all.

I let him keep his hand on my bare thigh, which was now littered with goosebumps but looked at him sternly. “You need to go home before I call my dad, and he beats the shit out of you.”

Apollo laughed heartily, almost too loudly. “I would turn his head to a pulp,” he mused with a crooked grin, clenching his fist and shaking it.

I patted his fist, knowing he was right. “Okay, put that away. I still don’t want you in my bedroom.”

“I don’t really care what you want, sweetheart,” he responded, climbing up so that he was on all fo
urs. He kicked his shoes off the side of the bed while looking me in the eyes. His green eyes glittered with intention in the darkness of my room.

I knew that he wasn’t going to leave me alone so easily. He was far too drunk for that. I wondered what it would take to get him to go home. Perhaps I should join him in the park just to get him out of my bed.

Of course, that went against everything that Cora had warned me about. She would be mega pissed if I did something so crazy, but it didn’t look like Apollo wanted to budge. Next time I would call the police if he appeared at my window, but this time it was too late to protest.

“I like your bed,” Apollo said, rubbing my sheets. “We should sleep naked. It’s more comfortable that way.”

I jumped back, grabbing a pair of pants and pulling them over my legs. To hell with underwear. I didn’t have time to get ready. Whatever worked would have to be good enough for now. I needed to get this moron out of my bed before he started getting naked.

“Let’s go to the park first,” I said, “Then we’ll see about the sleeping arrangement.” I needed to buy whatever time I could to get him to pass out somewhere other than my bed.

Apollo sprung up, his heavy feet thudding against the floor. It was a wonder that my parents hadn’t woken up, but they were probably in a semi-coma from sleep medication. They wouldn’t wake up even if there was a tornado ripping through the house.

“Please be quiet,” I said, holding a finger to my lips to shush him.

Apollo laughed and pulled his boots back on, just as merry as could be. “I’m parked outside,” he said, turning his head to me.

“You didn’t drive here, did you?” I asked, worried that he was going to kill someone on the road. I wasn’t concerned about the cops pulling him from a crumpled pile of metal, but it would suck if he took someone else with him.

He shrugged. “It’s self-driving,” he said as he re-tied his laces.

I smacked my palm against my forehead. “You know, you can still get a DUI for that.”

Apollo obviously didn’t care, and I was glad that he hadn’t actually driven the thing. I didn’t entirely trust self-driving cars, so I figured I could drive his car if we were going anywhere. Maybe I should just kick him out the window and be done with it.

Apollo stood up straight once his boots were back on. “Put your shoes on, babe. We’re going for a spin.”

I took a deep breath and went to retrieve a pair of old sneakers from the bottom drawer of my dresser. I reached in, seeing the old paper with Apollo’s phone number on it. My hand hovered over it for a second, wondering if I dared touch it. Maybe I should get rid of it.

I didn’t have time to ponder such things. I moved back to my sneakers, pulling them out and placing them on the floor in front of me. I used a foot to push the drawer back and laced up my shoes with Apollo watching. He swayed as he watched me, threatening to topple over in a drunken heap.

I laced up my shoes as quickly as I could manage and waved at Apollo to go out the window.

“You first,” he said, pointing outside.

  Even drunk, he wasn’t gullible.

I groaned, sweeping past him and climbing over the window ledge onto the roof.

  Chapter 9

The sun doesn’t sleep at night. It just parties somewhere else.

The air was crisp and cool. I should have worn a sweater, but I wasn’t planning on being out that long. I just needed to drive Apollo back to wherever he had come from and get home.

I heard Apollo thump down behind me, being courteous enough to close the window after him. He walked beside me, then leaped off the roof like it was only a foot off the ground instead of six, rolling as he hit the neatly kempt grass below.

That man was going to kill himself, pulling stunts like that, and I wasn’t about to break my neck following him. I carefully climbed down from the roof, hanging off the drainage pipe and praying that it wouldn’t come disconnected from the roof. My father would be pissed if I messed up the house sneaking out.

I dropped onto the grass, falling only a foot and a half instead of six like Apollo had. Honestly, I think football had knocked some of his brains and survival instincts right out of his head.

“Come,” Apollo said, waving a thick tattooed arm.

I jogged up next to him, cursing myself for getting myself into this mess so soon after he had come back. It hadn’t even been twenty-four hours, and he was balls deep in my life again. I wondered how long it would take him to be balls deep between my hips.

Okay, gross Georgia. Don’t get ahead of yourself.

I walked with Apollo as he took gigantic strides toward his polished black car. It looked like something from the future and probably cost just as much. Apollo clicked a button on his keychain, and the doors popped open.

“I’ll drive,” I said, holding my hand out for the key.

“It’s self-driving,” Apollo said, already halfway into the driver’s seat.

“I know that, but I don’t trust it. Let me drive,” I demanded.

“I don’t trust your driving,” Apollo said but tossed me the keys anyway.

“I don’t care. I’m not getting pulled over with a car that drives itself and a drunk jock behind the wheel of it,” I snapped.

He shrugged, climbing out of the car and circling back to the passenger’s side. “Whatever you want, sweetheart.”

I rolled my eyes. I hated it when he called me that, and he seemed to be doing it more now that he was drunk. I plopped down in the driver’s seat and closed my door. The car was comfortable, and instead of a regular dashboard, it had what looked like a tablet in the front. It lit up as I sat down, flashing some numbers before returning to black.

There was nowhere to put a key, but Apollo’s keychain didn’t have a key. I should have known that it would be push-to-start. I pressed a shiny black button next to the steering wheel, and the car came to life, making almost no noise at all.

“This thing is kind of creepy,” I said.

“It’s fucking dope,” Apollo said, placing his boots on the dashboard and leaning his chair way back. He looked like an old man ready to take his afternoon nap. I found it sexy.

I put the car in drive and pulled it off the curb, gliding down the street like we were floating on a cloud. “So, where are we going?” I asked, realizing I didn’t know where to turn when I came up to the first intersection.

“The park,” Apollo said, fumbling around in the back seat of the car.

“Can you get back up here and give me directions? Else, I’m going to drop you off on the road,” I cautioned.

Apollo popped back up from the back with a half-empty bottle of fruity vodka in his fist. He popped the top off and took a swig, making a face as he swallowed. He then held it out to me as I waited at the stop sign for some direction. “Have some.”

“No, can you pay attention? I asked you where the fuck are we going?” I said, growing irritated.

“To the park. You know, the one by the police station.”

I groaned. “Why would you drink right next to the police station?”

“They don’t fucking care. Plus, nobody is going to expect you to drink there. They don’t look right in front of them,” Apollo said, looking just as proud as could be at his reasoning.

This logic sounded faulty to me, but I went with it, turning left at the sign to head to the park by the police station. Apollo was either stupid or brilliant, and I still hadn’t decided which it was.

“I don’t know why I’m fucking doing this,” I mumbled as we slid down the smooth black road that led out of the neighborhood.

“Because you like me,” Apollo said, taking another drink from his bottle.

I could smell the alcohol in the car. I wanted him to put it away before we got caught, but I figured he wouldn’t even if I asked. He didn’t often listen to me, especially once he started drinking. He was constantly out of control.

“I don’t like you,” I said, gripping the wheel tighter a
s a car passed us. I prayed it wasn’t an undercover cop.

“You do. That’s why you’re going to suck my cock tonight,” Apollo said, smiling like the world belonged to him.

“Fuck off. I’m not doing anything with you,” I said, glancing over at him while he rubbed a noticeable bulge in his pants. I had to admit that it turned me on. What was I to do? It’s not like he was ugly. He was a six-foot-tall football player with a body like Hercules for god’s sake. What woman wouldn’t be turned on by that?

“Georgia, darling,” Apollo said with a hiccup. “You’re so sexy. I would unload my balls into you the second I got inside.”

“Stop talking, please,” I said, holding up a hand while I processed the mess that just left his mouth.

I couldn’t believe he was saying all this to me. He was so crude, so crazy, and so unbelievably horny. I was equally shocked and turned on by his boldness, but tonight wasn’t the night to give in to it. He was a drunken mess, so I had to the upper hand. I doubted he would last much longer drinking the way he was. A few more sips, and he would be passed out.

Maybe I could get his friends to take him home, and I would drive myself back to my place in his car. If I parked it far enough down the road, my parents wouldn’t be able to tell that I snuck out.

“God, I’m going to fuck you so hard, Georgia. I’m going to stretch your pussy to the limit,” Apollo said, reaching a hand to my thigh and squeezing it hard.

I pushed his hand away. “I’ll drop you off at the police station if you keep that up,” I said sternly. Inside, blood was pumping between my legs. I could feel myself growing uncomfortably wet, and now I wished I had worn panties. This was shaping up to be a long night.

“My cock is so hard now, though,” Apollo whined, rolling around in his seat and splashing booze all over himself.

That was it. He wasn’t going to survive in the park. He would end up on a park bench covered in his own vomit if I left him out there. I needed to get him home.
