Another knock sounded on the door, and Lily went to put on her headphones before going to her room.
Hunter and Ori entered, lifting me up by the waist to kiss me before setting me down. “When can we have a menage a trois with you?” Hunter asked. “Kaz’s place is still open for us.”
“Aunt Helen’s there,” I said.
“True,” Ori said. “You can always visit me at my Lodge. I have a very large bed.”
“Or my little studio apartment,” Hunter said.
“So did you accept Jordan’s proposal?” Ori asked. “We all know about it.”
“I told him I will,” I said.
Ori’s eyes widen, and Hunter looked alarmed. “No no no!”
Ori looked so downfallen. “You chose him?”
“I chose him,” I said, pulling Ori and Hunter close. “But I choose you two too.”
They sighed in relief, hugging me tight before kissing me. “We choose you, too,” Hunter said. “Forever and ever. Even when I become King, I’ll make a law so I can be with you.”
Ori said, “I already talked to my father about you, Tempest. He said he will support me if I truly love you. My father was forced to marry my mother to create an alliance between countries. They were miserable, especially since my father already loved someone else, and my mother was deeply in love with another. It was no wonder they had affairs and couldn’t produce more children besides me. I was miserable seeing how they fought all the time, too. So, in the end, my father said that when I become King one day, I can change the laws so I can be with the woman I love…and I love you, Tempest, more than anyone.”
I thought about the K3s and how they have all became so much more to me. “I love you Hunter. I love you Ori so much.” I kissed them both. “I was so afraid we couldn’t stay together in the future, even after graduation, but you made plans to make it possible. I’m so happy and so in love with you both.”
“Come over to the Lodge,” Ori said. “Tomorrow. I’ll be waiting for you.”
“I’ll be there, too,” Hunter said. “Waiting to sandwich you in between us.”
“You two! Lily’s in her bedroom right now probably listening!”
“Oh,” they both said loudly, intending for Lily to hear in case she was eavesdropping, “Well, we’ll be doing a lot of studying at our place tonight with Tempest.”
They left before I could push them out.
I went back to working on my projects when a knock sounded. Lily opened the door this time putting on a sweater and her boots. “I’m headed to the bakery to pick up some cookies and drink hot chocolate. The book club should be meeting there about now, and she always give me extra cookies.”
“Okay,” I said. “Say ‘hi’ to Mary for me and the book club girls!”
Lily smiled before letting Ricky through the door.
Ricky came over to me to kiss me and to start humping me. “Ricky!”
“Lily just left so we’re alone,” he said. “And I couldn’t wait to be with you alone.”
He was about to push my pants and panties down when there was another knock on the door.
Ricky went to get the door as I straightened out my pants.
“Oh my God!” Ricky muttered under his breath as he opened the door.
He was trembling. Like he had just seen a ghost.
“Who is it?” I asked walking over to him and peeking over his shoulders at whoever was standing at the door.
I almost fainted.
Tears ran down my cheeks as I reached out to hold the beautiful blue-black haired man standing in front of me staring at me with so much love in his azure blue eyes.
Kaz.
He was alive and well.
I pulled him inside. Ricky got up to go fix tea.
“Kaz,” I kissed him all over his face, and touched his hands, his face, unable to believe he was here, was alive with me.
“Baby, it’s me,” Kaz finally said. “Don’t cry,” he touched the tears running down my cheeks. “I’m here. I won’t leave you again.” He kissed me on my mouth and pulled me tight against him. “It feels so good holding you.”
Ricky brought some tea to Kaz and me, siting down at the table. “Wow, man,” he said. “What happened to you? We searched and searched for you but couldn’t find you anywhere except for your blazer.”
“I just remembered being thrown far away from the cave and waking up on the beach,” Kaz said. “I must’ve been out for a couple of days. I don’t know how long. I lost track of time.”
“The beach here on the island?” Ricky asked.
“Maybe,” Kaz said. “I didn’t know which beach. For a couple of days I was just wandering around trying to find out where I was.” Kaz smiled. “No one knew who I was. No one seemed to care. No one expected anything from me. I slept on the beach, went fishing and ate what I caught on the beach, and didn’t have a schedule to follow. Didn’t need to care about running anything. I was like a different person than Prince Kaz,” he said. “It felt so liberating.”
“How did you find your way back?” Ricky asked.
“Turned out I was on the other side of the island…the part rumored to be where the pirates used to hang out. I didn’t see anyone for miles, but finally I found some signs and made it back to town.”
I looked at Kaz and saw he was wearing his Kingsbury prep white shirt, torn at the bottom and at the sleeves, and his pants were now shorts. “You haven’t eaten or bathed for days,” I said. “How did you even find me?”
“I heard a rumor you moved into town and gave up your dorm at Kingsbury to live with your little sister so I searched for you everywhere in town,” Kaz said.
I looked at Ricky. “I need to take care of Kaz right now. Can we meet later?”
Ricky kissed me and said, “I’m bummed, but I know how you were so worried about Kaz. I’ll leave you two alone.”
“Thank you, Baby,” I said, kissing him again.
Ricky reached a finger to trace my lips. “I love you, Tempest. So much. I’ll do anything for you.”
I kissed him again. “I love you too, Ricky,”
He smiled and walked off towards the bakery. “Checking on your little sis…see how she’s doing at her new school.”
“Okay,” I said, waving.
Then I was alone with Kaz, who kept his beautiful azure blue eyes on my every move.
Finally, he said, “Why didn’t you marry Jordan?”
“Because I couldn’t,” I said simply. “A kingmaker cannot marry a King or a prince if she wants to stay a kingmaker.”
“So you intend on making him King?” Kaz asked.
“Not yet,” I said. “You know he told me he was fine not being King for now.”
Kaz’s eyebrow arched. “He said that?”
“Yes,” I nodded, sitting down next to him.
“Do you love him?” Kaz asked.
“Yes,” I said.
His mouth thinned as he pursed his lips together. “So you will stay with him?”
“I love him, Kaz,” I said. “I intend on being with him.”
“Oh,” Kaz said disappointedly.
“But I love Hunter, Ori, and Ricky too.” I almost kissed Kaz but stood up and said, “You need a shower badly.”
“I do?” Kaz asked. It was so different from the Kaz I knew. He cared so much about how he looked, how he appeared, and how he dressed.
“Come on beauty and the beast,” I said, leading him by the collar.
“Oh this is hot,” Kaz said watching my butt sway from side to side as I walked.
I started the shower and was about to leave when Kaz pulled me to him, undressing me. He already had his shirt off as I reached over to zip down his pants before revealing his large hard-on.
“You know, Tempest,” Kaz said. “Of all the people I know, you were the one I first thought about when I knew I wanted to go back to Kingsbury. You were the one I kept thinking about and dreaming about every single day. Every single hour.” He traced my jawline and che
eks. “You’re even more beautiful in person than in any of my dreams of you.”
“I missed you so much, Kaz,” I said. “I thought you’d died, when you didn’t show up the next day and then the day after.”
“I’m sorry, Tempest,” Kaz said. “I didn’t want to show up back here at first. I didn’t want to face having you choose either me or Jordan for King and even as lovers. I would be devastated if you choose him. I couldn’t face it if you didn’t choose me, Tempest. When it comes to you, Tempest, I’m weak. I get weak in the knees. I get butterflies. I couldn’t even breathe when I see you sometimes. You take my breath away, you’re so stunning. So beautiful.”
“Oh Kaz,” I said, pulling him into the shower with me as I lather him up and washed every inch of him.
He took the soap from me and washed me from head to toe, before ducking my head under the showerhead waterfall and then slowly making love to me.
We spent hours in the shower exploring each other, making love, and rediscovering each other all over again. Finally when we emerged out of the showers of my room, the entire house was dark. Lily was asleep in her room.
“Will you stay the night with me?” I asked.
“I heard my Aunt Helen is staying at my place now,” Kaz said.
“She’s decided to move with us to Arcadia. Said she’s too attached to Lily and me. We’re her baby girls…ones she always wanted to have.”
Kaz kissed me. “Anyone would be proud to have you as their baby girl. I know I would be.”
“So I’m your baby girl now?”
“You’re my everything,” Kaz said, kissing me again before falling into bed with me. “My everything.”
EPILOGUE
The day of the Choosing for the King of Islandia finally came. Unfortunately it was permanent because the King of Islandia passed away when he was in his coma.
It was also Graduation Day.
I thought that day would never come when I first set foot into Kingsbury Prep and found myself having to fight for my life against Veronica and Sabrina. Then meeting Hunter who took my breath away, and Kaz, who kept getting under my skin with an incredible and undeniable chemistry between us. Finally, finding Ori was the White Night and one of the most sensitive but strong men I’ve ever known, changed my life in ways I never could have imagined.
My bullies turned lovers turned forever loves. The K3s were my three Kings. Jordan and Ricky came next.
In the beginning, I didn’t think I would make it through one semester at Kingsbury, but I made it through two.
Next I helped open the doors for more non-royals (although I found out I was a royal after all) and commoners to Kingsbury. Now I was about to make another history…the Choosing of a king for Islandia.
Jordan or Kaz? Kaz or Jordan?
Following graduation, I had gathered Jordan, Kaz, Helen, the Queens of Islandia, and some royal officials to the throne room of Kingsbury Castle.
I stood under the tapestry of Violet when she wore the Kingmaker’s robes and held the Kingmaker’s sword.
As I stood looking at the two princes I’ve come to love so much and were my everyday lovers, I had a brief vision of standing in this very spot before many many years ago during a choosing.
“Why does this seem so familiar?” I asked. “Like I’ve done this before?”
Helen, who was standing next to me to help me officiate said, “Because you have.”
“What?” I whispered back. “This is my first time ever being a kingmaker.”
Helen patted my back. “Actually you’ve done this many times before. Why do you think you keep seeing the past through Violet’s eyes?”
“Because she was my ancestor?” I asked.
“No, child,” Helen said. “You were Violet. You are Violet…how do you think we were able to bring back the kingmaker after your mother broke the legacy? Because we were able to find you, Violet, in this life, resurrected as Tempest. We had to start the kingmaker legacy all over again so the first female kingmaker Violet was brought back through you.”
I was Violet? She was my past life? Not an ancestor?
And Ricky…he was the young knight Henry Honeywell. Prince Axel…he was Kaz. Prince Avery…was Jordan?
The cycle started all over again… with Tempest.
“Who did Violet choose as the King of Islandia?” I asked Helen.
“You would have to go back in time to find out yourself,” Helen said.
“In the meantime, kind people,” I spoke up and out. “The time of the Choosing has come, and I am glad to announce I have made a choice. After knowing the candidates so well, like family, I believe they all have the ability and capacity to become Kings. They are a family first of all, and a successful kingdom is based on a successful family union where everyone is cherished and fruitful in their own ways. Whoever becomes King would need the support of everyone in their family and the kingdom. It would not be just a rule of one. And the one I choose has the respect and the ability to bring all in the family and the country together. Due to her wisdom, experience, life story, fortitude, willingness to do everything and anything for Islandia, even living away from the country for many years in a station much lower than luxury…a trailer park…I choose Aunt Helen as the new King and ruler of Islandia.” I looked over at my two Princes from Islandia. “And the Princes Jordan and Kaz would share the responsibility of Kings in Training under the ruling King Helen.”
Jordan and Kaz looked like they were in shock at first, but then they burst out laughing.
Helen couldn’t believe it at first, but soon smoothly and swiftly became accustomed to the idea of being king and running Islandia the way she had always tried to advise her nephew the King, Jordan and Kaz’s wayward father, how to run Islandia.
In the end…Helen was fit to be King.
As I was born and re-born to be the Kingmaker Violet.
