Cruel Intentions: A Dark High School Bully Romance (Kings of Hawk Academy Book 2) Page 15

by Sarwah Creed

“You still call her?” James asked. He was surprised as I nodded and confirmed what I’d already just said.

“Bro, come here,” he said as he hugged me. “Mom turned her back on us the moment Hawk threw her out for cheating over and over again. He could have done the same with us, but he didn’t. He built us this suite and…”

  “Out of guilt.”

  James blurted, “No.”

He pushed me away from him. “When are you going to see what happened? Mom was never well, she wasn’t back then when she was with Dad, and after a while, it seemed that she was normal, but she was always on something. If you call and ask if she has any kids, or even what our names are, I bet you that she doesn’t even remember us.”

I couldn’t believe that he was being so cold about our mom. He took out the bottle of whiskey, sighed, and shook his head as he noticed that the bottle wasn’t as full as it used to be before he left. What he didn’t know was that it was a completely different bottle.

  “You want one?”

I nodded; he didn’t have to ask me twice.

As he poured the glass, I started to speak again. I wanted to know if he now expected Hawk to be our fucking hero. The idea of it made me feel physically sick.

“So, what do we do now?” I asked him, thinking that I would give him the benefit of the doubt about the current situation.

“I’m saying to you,” he raised his glass and waited for me to do the same. I did in a heartbeat, and as quickly as we saluted each other, we took a swig of our shots. It hit the right nerve, and there was something more satisfying about drinking with him, than there was drinking alone.

“James, I’m saying to you that at the end of the day, she’s still our mom. I told Vicki about Mom not being in touch and what happened the night of the fire. I just didn’t go into the details of her being drunk in the house, the rages, the affairs and so on. It was too much in one go, to tell Vicki everything!”

“And he’s still our dad. So, what do you want to do? He wants to be in our lives. She doesn’t. When was the last time that she picked up the phone to return your call? Or even replied to a text or even email? When…”

“Fuck James, do you have to rub it in?”

He shook his head, “No. I didn’t mean to come across so strong.”

He sighed as he sat down on the bench opposite me.

“It’s just that Dad wants to be a part of our lives, and you don’t want to forgive him. He can’t come and see us, or call us even, not without permission. Whereas the last time I spoke to Mom was when we were around thirteen. We haven’t seen her once in the last five years. And we have spoken to her the same number of times. She knows where we are, yet she chooses not to know us. But you wanted to share the story about Dad and not the one about Mom. I’m kind of curious about that.”

“Maybe like Vicki’s Mom, she was blackmailed by Carlton.”

He laughed, even I did a bit, thinking that no one could stop Mom from doing whatever she wanted to do. If they could, then Hawk and Mom would be together. That part I knew for sure, even if I did hate to admit it.

“So, you hate Hawk for not standing up for us when Carlton bit into us. Right?”

I shook my head, “No. I don’t get how come Mom was all happy at first.”

I started to pace in the kitchen, thinking about the past.

“Then, she got worse. They met in rehab, and he got better, and so did she, and we were all happy, and then just like that, she started to drink again and even worse. She went from not only being an alcoholic to a drug addict too. I just want answers. I don’t get it. Has Hawk ever explained all this to you?”

“No, Trent. And you know how Mom and Hawk met is for Hawk to explain to Vicki, not us. I know you hate the guy, but for me, the facts are clear. Mom could get in touch with us, but she doesn’t. Fuck, go and Google her. She’s not too busy to go to a party tonight or any other night, but she’s too busy to pick up the phone and call her sons. Fact. Hawk could have thrown us out a long time ago. He never stood up to his dad. Sure, he wasn’t perfect. None of us are or were back then. I know you’ve seen shit. Stephanie hanging from her chandelier when she took her own life, Dad setting the house on fire. You’ve seen more shit than anyone should see in a lifetime. But that’s not what eats you up. Mom does. I don’t know what to say to you, bro but you need to move on from that. You need to try.”

He was right. I did have to move on from wanting a relationship with her. We were older now, and I needed to get over it.

“Pour me another shot,” I smiled as I agreed with him. Maybe seeing Dad behind bars would make me feel better, the same way that taking another shot was making me warm. There was only one thing missing, my hands in between Vicki’s legs right now. The second shot wasn’t giving me the edge that I needed; no, it was turning me into something that I didn’t like. Someone mixed with emotions, and I hated drinking to feel that way.

“I need to study man. So, we can play with Vicki later.”

“Trent, you don’t need to convince me.”

Good, we were on the same page about something, for a change.

“What do we do about Claire?” I asked James when Vicki was in the bath, taking a soak. She was sore, but then she wasn’t the only one.

“Really, Trent, is that all you ever think about?” He replied and I was baffled, about his response to my question.

So, I faced him while he was at his desk, studying and sat down on the corner of his desk.

“I meant about her bullying Vicki and not handling rejection well.”

“Oh that,” he sighed, and he met my stare, and then he went back to studying, ignoring what I said to him.

  “Hey?”

I was annoyed about him ignoring my question and not even offering a solution.

“What do you want me to say, brother dearest? Claire shouldn’t be upset, and she is acting all dramatic. She was a virgin, and you were more than happy to break her. You wanted to see if her she was all natural and if her pussy hair was as blond as the hair on her head. You called it the achievement of the year at the time and after you showed her a whole new world, you dumped her like a sack of rotten potatoes. Now, you have Vicki. You’re not interested in the girl that wanted to give us everything. The same with Sarah, Louise, and I don’t even remember half their names, let alone their faces.”

I choked, shocked by his tone, “You make me sound like a fucking monster. Do I disgust you that much? It makes me wonder why you put up with me.”

“We are one of the same. Do I believe that you disgust me? Yes. But then I disgust myself at the best of times.”

He stood up as he sighed, “Look, I need to study. Sure, Vicki’s something special, but you, little brother? You were never one to have a long attention span. Besides, I know that by next semester like me, you’ll forget her name.”

I shook my head as I stood up, ready to walk away.

“Is this what this has been? Are you just wanting to entertain me? Thinking that as soon as a new girl comes along or we leave this place, then I’ll forget about her?”

“Don’t give me that face, Trent. A leopard can’t change its spots and as much as you say that you love Vicki and probably feel it, it’s not in our blood. Look at our parents. Look at our dysfunctional family. It is not possible. But the thing that we need to worry about more isn’t about Claire or even Hawk; it’s about this stepdad of hers.”

  “What do you mean?”

He sighed, “If he is sneaking into Vicki’s room, what the fuck for? What does he want, unless Vicki isn’t telling the truth and she’s the dangerous one?”

“Don’t be silly! You did see how she was shaking like a leaf the other night?” I said, he was fucking paranoid. Besides, I hated what he was saying to me. He was the eldest by a few minutes, not by a few years and I hated the way that what he said may have made sense about us, but not about Stuart. I saw the way her eyes turned dark whenever she spoke about h
im, and she was scared of Claire. As much as Vicki said that she wanted vengeance, I didn’t think that she was capable of hurting a fly, let alone a grown man.

“I’ll leave you to study,” I said as I left his room and shut the door because he was so fucking defensive, and there was no talking sense to him.

No one was going to take this high from me, not even James. He thought that Vicki was a thing right now, and I would forget her. I’d never been in love, and I wasn’t about to prove my brother right. No, far from it. I was going to prove him wrong. This thing we had with Vicki was special, and not only would I know it, but he would too. He just needed time…to be continued in part 3. The final installment of the Kings of Academy.

Book was interesting, story skills were strong. Kept me interested from page 1 til the end. Characters were well written and captivating

  Oh wow!

This is a quick read but, is rather intense. Vicki is getting over grandma's passing just before her mother is murdered by her newly minted stepfather. As her mother prepared for such an event, in her will she instructed Vicky to attend Hawk Academy. Vicky is relentlessly bullied upon her arrival. Her only reprieve is enter into a competition where she has to be the final girl standing. After she becomes the chosen girl, she finally gets the attention of the Hawk twins only to be shared with them. I wont't spoil the end but after she's intimate with the boys, a secret is revealed and she has hell to look forward to. The cliffhanger was so subtle with hints that it truly caught me off guard. Now I'm even more intrigued as to what fresh hell Vicky will have to endure, and we thought her life would get easier...not likely.

  About Bad Intentions…

  “Let the games begin…”

My words to Trent, one of the Kings of Hawk Academy.

He and his brother James were the most gorgeous and dangerously cruelest guys I’d ever met.

And I was offered the chance to be part of their ritual.

  A chance I couldn’t say no to.

Hawk Academy is a different world.

  Old rules. Old traditions.

But all of this was new to me.

  I wasn’t one of them.

Yet, they expected me to fall in line, as if their sky-blue eyes would make me forget the way they tortured me.

They may be the kings of Hawk Academy, but when I find out their secrets, I’m going to bring them and these old walls tumbling down.
