The silence stretched until Axel took pity on the poor guy. “To a great couple. Kaden, I hope you know what a gem you have and how lucky you are that she’s willing to marry your sorry ass.”
“Hear, hear,” everyone responded.
As far as wedding toasts went, I doubt I’d ever describe this one as epic. Yet it fit this group of guys, and I was good with it.
Kaden stepped forward to speak next. “I’m not any better at speeches than my buddy Axel.”
Axel booed and the others shouted their agreement with Kaden.
Kaden rolled his eyes. “But then not one of us is a silver-tongued devil except in our own minds. Thank God these women still love us with all our flaws.” He turned to me and took my hands in his. “I know I said all this at the ceremony, but how much I love you bears repeating. There isn’t another person on earth I’d rather spend my life with.”
I blinked back tears and smiled up at him. I looked the part of the smitten wife, because I was, and he looked the part of the smitten husband, because he was.
Together we’d make this world a better place, and we’d make sure our little corner of it was the best place possible.
Kaden let go of one hand to pick up his glass again. “To the luckiest man in the world.’
“Hear, hear!” everyone shouted.
“I found my speech,” Steele yelled over the din.
The guys were having none of it, as Mandy carried out the cake. Steele gave up and sat down, looking grumpy. I pulled Kaden in for a quick kiss that ended up being really long and sloppy against the backdrop of the jeers of the men and cheers of the women.
Next thing I knew, everyone was kissing their respective partners. Cin, not to be left out, grabbed a shocked Steele for a prolonged lip-lock.
I couldn’t wait to see this scenario play out for the next several months. They had chemistry just like Kaden and I.
Good luck resisting what’s meant to be, my friends.

USA Today bestselling author Jami Davenport writes sexy contemporary, new adult, and sports romances, and has recently dived into Romantic Suspense with her new series, Gone Missing.
Jami lives on a small farm in the woods near Puget Sound with her Green Beret-turned-plumber husband, a Newfoundland drool monster, and a prince disguised as an orange tabby cat.
Jami worked in IT for years and is a former high school business teacher but recently achieved her life-long dream and is now a full-time author. A horse lover since birth, Jami showed dressage horses for over thirty years. Now she gardens and goes RVing in her green Winnebago Minnie, along with other travelling adventures. She's a lifetime Seahawks and Mariners fan and is impatiently waiting for the day professional hockey comes to Seattle. Jami still misses her SuperSonics. An avid boater, Jami has spent countless hours in the San Juan Islands, a common setting in her books. In her opinion, it's the most beautiful place on earth.
