“Here we are.”
I blinked, focusing ahead, only to frown and look at Niyol. “What’s this?”
Ahead of us was a wooden frame lining the ground, inside the frame were two lawn chairs and two cans of beers. It was about as romantic as Niyol got. Still, I grinned, loving his makeshift picnic. “You did this?”
Not bothering to wait for him, I stepped toward the middle. But it was the set of blueprints sitting on one of the chairs that caused the sudden shaking in my hands.
“Niyol?” My voice cracked when I turned around, holding it in my hands. “What’s this?”
He remained on the other side of the frame, his hands in his pockets. Then shrugged one shoulder before closing the distance between us. “Blueprints for the house I’m gonna build you.”
I swallowed hard, blinking in confusion.
“I was late tonight because I wanted to make sure the guys broke the ground. I wanted to surprise you.” His face turned red, a rare blush covering his dark cheeks. He took a few steps closer, until he settled in front of me. Slowly, he trailed a finger down my cheek. “Do you know how much I love you?”
I nodded, stupefied, really.
“We’re opposites, Summer, but that trip we took nearly four months ago, everything that’s happened between us since, has made me want to be what you needed. And every damn day I try harder to do that, even if I’ll never be traditional.”
Tears filled the corners of my eyes and I tugged him close by the end of his t-shirt. It was gray today, a change from the normal black. “If I wanted traditional, I wouldn’t be with you.”
“But I wanna be traditional in some senses. For you.”
“Oh?” I tipped my head back to look him in the eyes.
“This, right here?” He motioned toward the ground, the two-by-fours surrounding us. “I’m building it for you and me.” He pointed a thumb back toward a smaller spot to the back left of the lot. “Got Emily her own mini place going a few yards away, that way she can be next to you too.”
Tears filled my eyes from his thoughtfulness. He was so much more of a man than any other I’d met.
He kicked the dirt with his boot, suddenly shy. “We can live on this land together, be with each other. Maybe, someday when you’re ready, we can, you know, think about doing other stuff that’s traditional.”
Marriage. Children. The words didn’t need to be spoken for me to know what he meant. I could envision that with him. My chest warmed with the possibilities.
“You really want to move in together.”
“Yeah, Princess. I want that a lot.” He grinned, like he hadn’t just dropped the bomb of the century on me.
But I couldn’t say yes… could I? Driving to and from here and work would make for two hours on the road every day. That could get draining, not to mention it would waste a lot of gas.
But at the same time, I only had three months left in my apartment lease. And moving to the compound would actually bring me closer to my dad, even if he wouldn’t likely be okay with my moving in with Niyol.
There were so many pros and cons. Yet at the same time, life wasn’t made for order and perfection, I’d come to learn that. Chaos ruled the world, and everything that was me and Niyol thus far. So, the more I thought about it, the more I looked into the hopeful eyes of the man I never thought would be mine, the more I realized how right Niyol was. And to be honest, I was damn tired of living apart too.
I loved him, and he loved me and apart we sucked, but together? We were real.
“Okay.” I blew out a breath, barely believing what I was agreeing to.
“Yeah?”
I nodded.
“Fuck, that makes me happy.” He grabbed me around the waist and swung me in a circle, both of us laughing and hugging, close, but not close enough.
I must’ve been crazy. Truly, madly crazy. But one kiss on the lips later, and I discovered the truth about crazy. And order, perfection and doing the right thing…
It was totally overrated.

I hope you loved Her Wild Ride as much as I enjoyed writing it! This was one of the most challenging books I’ve written to date, but also the most fun too. Yes, I know this wasn’t the typical MC romance a lot of you are used to reading, but I’m not exactly a typical kind of girl either. No matter, I’ve had Niyol and Summer’s stories in my head for years, and am just so crazy happy that Bookouture was willing to let me share this wild pair’s adventure with you all.
I love hearing from my readers – you can get in touch on my Facebook page, through Twitter, Goodreads or my website.
Thanks,
Heather

I have a million and a half people to thank, but I’m going to keep this as short as possible.
Chris: You’re a Rockstar husband. Thank you for understanding when I have to order pizza five nights a week because I need to complete my edits or reach a deadline. YOU are my happily ever after.
My girls: There are not enough words to describe how amazing you three are. I love you like nothing else in this world. Thanks for making me a mom. For believing in me most of all.
Jess: You’re my rock. My bestie. Thank you for being one of the only people who really gets what life is really like for me. Thank you for being you, bottom line.
Michelle: Without you, HWR would never have seen the light of day! I’ll forever be thankful for your notes and guidance.
Katrina and Jen: You ladies read this book when it was at its ugliest. God, do I love having CPs that understand it’s okay to have cruddy first drafts. Love you both, so, so much.
To my Hot and Heavy Ladies: I promise to make up for my absence in the group with more Thom Evans pictures. You’re the best ladies ever.
And finally, to the fans that have decided I’m worth sticking around for. You are the reason I am here, every day at my kitchen table, writing my words. Thank you for remembering me out of the fifty million other authors out there.
