I yawn.
“Go take a nap, I’ll watch this little guy for you,” Kai says.
“You’re a good friend.”
I leave the nursery, guessing I won’t get more than a twenty-minute nap in before Cayden wakes up, but I’ll take what I can get.
I walk to my bedroom and close the door, when Zeke grabs me from behind, holding me in his arms.
“We’re alone,” he says.
“It seems we are,” I respond. “Although, Kai is in the nursery. And Enzo is watching football in the living room.”
“They can wait.”
“Oh, yea? What do you have in mind?”
“Your doctor cleared you, right?” He kisses down my neck, and I moan.
“Yes,” I breathe, forgetting how wonderful it is for him to be kissing me like this. To make me come alive with one touch. I’ve been so busy focusing on Cayden’s every need that I forgot for a moment that I have needs.
“Can I fuck you, Mrs. Kane?”
I smile. “You sure can, Mr. Kane.” Our fingers intertwine, as he lifts me and carries me to our giant bed. We got married officially, just the two of us in the courthouse a month before Cayden was born. We didn’t want anyone there. In our eyes, we got married in the ocean. Something positive that I can remind Zeke of soon to coax him back into the ocean.
I look like a mess in my leggings and an oversized shirt. I haven’t showered in two days, and my hair is in a messy bun on top of my head, but Zeke doesn’t care. His eyes heat all the same when he removes my shirt and leggings.
“God, I’ve missed you, baby,” he says when he has me naked beneath me.
I grab his long hair and yank him toward me. “Shut up and fuck me.”
He chuckles against my lips as he kisses me. He’s trying to take his time, but now that he’s reminded me what this feels like, I’m desperate for him to be inside me.
I grab his shirt, yanking it off to reveal his sexy six-pack. I’m one of the luckiest girls in the world to get to have this man any night I want. He helps me remove his pants, and then he’s at my entrance in record time. His fingers tease my clit.
I grab his hips, trying to pull him inside me. “Slow, baby. I don’t want to hurt you.”
“You can’t hurt me. It’s not possible.” I roll my hips, pushing his tip inside me.
He gasps, and I think he might explode from this moment alone. He bites his lip, pushing his orgasm down.
“You make me crazy, Siren.”
“Then fuck me already.”
With that, he eases into me. It’s perfect and wonderful, and the missing piece that I didn’t realize I had been forgetting.
“I love you, Siren.”
He thrusts into me, and I can’t speak. He starts off slow and then moves faster and faster. I can’t speak; all I can do is moan, cry, and scream. Thank God for soundproof walls.
Then we are both coming so hard that I feel like I’m going to explode.
“I love you, too,” I say when I can finally catch my breath again.
We lie in the bed until I hear Cayden crying through the baby monitor, and there is a gentle knock at the door.
We both jump up and get dressed. I assume it’s Kai at the door telling me Cayden is hungry, but when I throw the door open, it’s Langston.
“Lang! You made it.” I throw my arms around him. We haven’t seen him since the birth of Cayden.
“I was tired of your phone calls telling me to get my ass over here more.”
I smile at that.
“But next time you invite guests over and decide to fuck, make sure you turn the baby monitor off,” Langston says.
I blush.
Zeke dies laughing.
“It’s good to see you, man.” Zeke pats Langston on the shoulder. “I’ll grab you a beer, and we can watch the game together.”
“Be right there,” Langston says as Zeke leaves us alone.
“What are you running from, Lang?”
He steps into my bedroom and shuts the door. “I’m not a good man, Ren. I don’t belong in this world. I’ll just bring more danger into your life.”
I shake my head. “Not possible, you’ve saved my life so many times. And everyone else’s. You’re a good man.”
“You don’t know me that well, Ren.”
“I know you better than anyone. I’ve seen your darkness. I know you are running from pain. From Liesel? I invited her, I want to meet her, but she never answered.”
“Liesel won’t answer. She’s out of this life for good,” Langston says, walking to the window and staring out of it.
“Maybe you should go talk to her.”
“She doesn’t want to talk to me.”
I sigh. “I just want you to be happy. And if that isn’t with the woman you love, then it should be with your family. We are your family.”
He shakes his head. “I can’t stay, Ren. I’m sorry. I wish I could, but I can’t.”
“Why?”
There is another knock. I open it, and Kai is holding a crying Cayden out to me.
“I tried to hold him off as long as I could, but he’s hungry,” Kai says.
I take Cayden from her. “Come on, let’s go watch the game together and relax. We can talk later, Lang.”
He nods, and then we all walk to the living room. I sit with Zeke and start feeding Cayden. Kai and Enzo sit, their twins climbing all over them. Langston sits off in a chair by himself.
Seeing Langston by himself shows me how hard this must be for him. He has to watch Zeke and me, Kai and Enzo live our happily ever afters, while he’s alone.
Langston still hasn’t told me what happened between him and Liesel, but I do know that without him facing his past, he won’t be able to move on and find love again.
Kai must notice the awkwardness too. “Hey, Langston.”
He turns and looks at her. “Stop moping; you’ll find love soon.”
“I’m not looking for love. I’m a forever bachelor. I don’t need a wife or family,” he says.
“Yea, yea, whatever you say. Just promise me that when you do find the love of your life, that you don’t drag us into your love story and make us risk our lives, okay?” Kai says with a smile trying to lighten the mood.
Everyone laughs. Everyone but Langston. He’s lost in thought.
I’m going to have to have another talk with him and get him to spill the truth to me. He owes me that.
“Look, he’s smiling at us,” Zeke says.
I look down at our son, who has stopped feeding. He’s smiling up at us. He’s perfect and has Zeke’s eyes and large frame. He was over ten pounds at birth. I have no doubt at all that he’s Zeke’s child.
“He’s going to keep us on our toes, isn’t he?” I ask.
“Definitely. Any child of ours is going to be trouble.”
I lean my head against Zeke’s chest, my son in my arms, and my family all around. I look over at Langston, and even he is smiling at me.
“I can’t wait to live our happily ever after, forever with you,” Zeke whispers into my ear.
“It’s here, baby. It’s here. This is the first part of our forever, and I can’t imagine anything better.”
