  “Thanks.” He blushed as he gazed at her.

  Samantha looked back over her shoulder as Mitch and Riley were led to a police car.

  “You okay?” Eddy leaned close to her.

  “It was a rough night.” Samantha closed her eyes and rested her head on his shoulder.

  “Yes, it was.” Eddy slipped his arm around her waist. “Thanks for looking out for me, Sam.”

  “I always will, Eddy.”
