Rise of the Grandmaster Page 64

by Bradford Bates

My editor Lynne put in the real legwork on these titles. There is no way to put into words how much work she had to do.

  Yep, it was that much.

Now it’s time to dim the lights, turn on the PlayStation, and get back to work. Cough cough, I mean the computer and writing. Cough cough. “Sorry honey!” Turns off the PlayStation but keeps the dim lighting for eerie writing.

  Happy Gaming!

  Author Notes - Michael Anderle

  December 10, 2019

Thank you for reading our story and then continuing to our Author Notes as well!

Right now, I’m at the same resort (The Pacifica in Quivera, Cabo San Lucas), where I coined the term 20Booksto50k® I would use later to name a Facebook group I created to help Indie Authors.

Four years ago, I was getting ready to release the fourth book in my Kurtherian Gambit series. Four years later, I’m about to release my first collaboration with Bradford Bates.

Four years ago, I had no idea who Bradford was (and to be fair, he had no idea who I was, either.) But creating the Facebook group and helping other authors ended up being the catalyst for Bradford and me to meet.

During our time creating the world for this story, I asked Bradford about his background and what he did before (and during) his writing career. From those questions, we figured out his knowledge of business and used those aspects of what he knew about business to help shape our protagonist.

Now, both of us are game nerds. We both grew up loving games, and perhaps if we had been born a generation later, we might have wished to make our living in games (like those on YouTube today.)

  However, we didn’t.

But, we have one thing going for us, which is age and experience. So, we thought about what sucks with MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games) and decided it was the NPC class.

Usually, Non-Player Characters are scripted (often poorly) and can’t really change the game too much. So, we decided to see what would happen if a future game company (that makes a ludicrous amount of money) decides to provide employment for humans to come in and BE NPCs in the game.

But, there is a hitch. There is ALWAYS a hitch.

And that is what this tale is all about.

We hope that you enjoyed this story. If you did, please consider providing a review, which helps the next reader consider purchasing the book, too. If you happened to love a different story, consider giving THAT author a review.

  All books need more reviews!

  Ad Aeternitatem,

  Michael Anderle
