He sighed. “It’s all right, lass. I’m well aware of what people say about me, and I’ve never done much to disprove their speculations, but right here and now, I want to make sure that you know without a doubt that I am first and foremost your father.”

The door opened and Bronze entered the room. “So, is this a good time to ask for permission to marry your daughter?”

“What?” I blurted while my dad laughed.

“Your fiancé just helped me win some cash off of your brothers.”

  “How?”

“By asking for permission to marry you. I said he’d ask within the week. They disagreed,” he shared with a genuine smile I rarely got to see on his face. He turned his attention from me to Bronze. “You have my blessing to marry my girl,” he said and paused for affect. “I’m not going to threaten your life if you mistreat her or do anything untoward to her. Because honestly, if you didn’t already know that, then you’re sufficiently fucked.”

  Epilogue

I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be when I pulled into the driveway of my new home for the first time. I don't know why I thought it would be different than any of the other times I’d been there, but something about it the first official time coming home to the place as my home had me filled with excitement.

Bronze and Blue were waiting on the front porch to greet me when I arrived. As expected, Blue launched herself at me, and I caught her with a practiced ease. “Honey, I’m home,” I joked and turned in a circle to amuse her.

“Do you need anything out of the car right now?” he asked.

  “I don't think so. Why?”

“Because I was going to get whatever you needed right now. The rest can wait until the prospects get here to unload everything.”

“I'm still not comfortable with them unpacking my belongings,” I admitted.

“I think you're confusing unloading with unpacking.”

“Oh,” I said, somewhat disappointed. “Does unloading include carrying everything upstairs?” I asked hopefully.

He grinned, “It does if you want it to.”

I didn’t even try to be modest about it. “Yes, please,” I said and headed for the stairs. “Do I still have time to take a decent nap before the party tonight?”

I breathed a sigh of relief when the answer I wanted to hear left his mouth. “Yes.”

“Great!” I exclaimed. “Do you want me to give Blue her bottle and put her down for her nap before I take mine?”

  “Maybe. What's the catch?”

“You’re responsible for answering the baby monitor.”

He laughed. “Not a problem. Go get some rest because Satan Sloane wasn’t invited to the party.”

In the short amount of time I had been around the Blackwings MC, I learned that they would use any excuse to throw a party—including the day I officially left my home in Cherryfield and moved in with Bronze and Blue. I had a feeling there was more to the party, but I didn’t want to ruin any surprises by asking questions. I also didn’t want to set myself up for disappointment by getting my hopes up. So, after my nap, we headed to the clubhouse to see what was in store as soon as the three of us were ready to go.

When we arrived, I was shocked by the number of vehicles in the parking lot. “Seems like there’s more cars here than usual,” I observed.

“Looks like the same crowd to me,” he said casually. Too casually.

“Bronze,” I drawled. “What aren't you telling me?”

“What was that? I couldn't hear you,” he said and didn’t bother to try to hide the fact that he was lying.

That's when I decided to leave him in the parking lot and go on inside to find out what was going on. My fingers had just wrapped around the doorknob when Bronze called out, “Wait!”

“What was that? I couldn't hear you,” I repeated and opened the door to go inside.

Bronze and Blue caught up to me right as I stepped over the threshold. The onslaught of multiple voices shouting “Surprise!” at the same time caused me to startle, and Blue to start crying.

“You should have known better than to walk into a surprise party while carrying her,” Layla teased and offered to take Blue. But when Bronze shook his head, Layla stepped back giving him a knowing look.

  “What's going on?” I asked.

Instead of answering me, Bronze dropped to one knee in the middle of the clubhouse with his beautiful baby girl cradled in his arms. “Sloane O'Shea, will you marry us?”

“Fucking hell!” Bear shouted. “What is it with you boys? First, you fall for the daughter of the member of a rival club,” he said, pointing to Copper. “Then, you fall in love with an FBI agent, and now here you are with an Irish mob princess. Do y'all have an end goal in mind, or are you just trying to keep things lively around here?” Bear teased.

“There's no cause for alarm. They have my blessing,” my father said from somewhere within the crowd.

“Dad!” I squealed. “I didn't know you were going to be here.”

“Well then, I guess that means you didn't expect us to be here either,” Tiernan said from his perch at the corner of the bar with my other two brothers.

“Did you guys really come all the way to Devil Springs just to watch me get engaged?”

“No, they came to see me,” Frankie announced making a grand entrance in a way that only she could. Seconds later, she was immediately upstaged when her rogue pig barreled through the common room and immediately collapsed.

  “Brat!” Frankie cried.

“Is he okay?” I asked and rushed to Frankie’s side.

“What’s wrong?” Bronze asked as he cautiously stepped closer and stared at the twitching pig.

“Frankie! Is he doing what I think he’s doing?”

Frankie gasped in horror. “Oh no! No, no, no,” she yelled and frantically looked around the room.

“What’s he doing?” Batta asked while Bear turned toward the wall to stifle his laughter.

Brat made a noise that could only be described as obscene, while Frankie glanced at the door longingly.

“Don't even think about it! You’re not leaving your pig in the middle of the common room to have an unsupervised orgasm for thirty minutes!”

I heard a commotion behind me and tried to pretend like I didn’t know it was Copper fuming in the distance. But then I heard Layla say, “We're on Team Sloane, remember?” And I didn't need to turn around to know that she was likely pleading with him to hold in his anger. But, really, who could blame him? I didn't know anyone who would enjoy the free entertainment he was being provided at what would surely be a cost to him.

Bronze cleared his throat. “We’re not so patiently waiting for your answer.”

  “What?” I asked distractedly.

Bronze reached for my hand and gently pulled me to my feet. “What's it going to be?”

“I guess I’ll marry you, but it’ll cost you some cookies.”

“I’ll always share my cookies with you, and our little Blue, too.”
