Jacob's Sweet Temptation Page 14

“My stomach started aching a little around noon.” Callie replied.

“What?” Chase said glaring at her.

“Oh hush. I thought it was just them moving around at first.” Callie snapped at him.

“So they weren’t bad then?” The doctor asked.

“No, it would be a sharp pain, but gone quick and I wouldn’t have another for a long time. These babies kick hard and it hurts.” Callie told him then let out a scream to shatter all the glass in the hospital.

“Breathe baby.” Chase said trying to do the Lamaze breathing.

“You breathe, this really freaking hurts.” Callie told him panting as it passed.

“I know baby.” Chase said and kissed her forehead.

“I really hate you right now.” Callie told him as tears streamed down her face.

“I’m sorry.” Chase said grabbing her hand and holding on tight.

“She doesn’t really mean it.” The doctor said, and Callie glared at him. “Oh I know you think you do, but once you hold them it will be different.” He told her with a smile.

“How long to do you think it will take?” Chase asked.

“Can I have drugs?” Callie asked at the same time.

“I need to do my exam then you can have your drugs, and time is hard to guess, but her contractions are coming pretty fast.” The doctor told them then turned and spoke to the nurse who left right after he stopped talking.

“Now, I’m going to do the exam so that we can see where we’re at okay.” He told Callie.

Chasity sat on the opposite side of Callie as Chase and held her other hand. The doctor had barely begun his check when another contraction hit. This one was bad, she knew because Callie almost broke her hand. She glanced over and saw Chase grimace and was glad it wasn’t just her being weak. When it passed the doctor quickly finished his check.

“You are already dilated to nine cm. I’m not sure we would be able to get the epidural in and it take effect before it’s time to push.” The doctor said. “It’s been almost four minutes since the last contraction. How do you feel?” The doctor asked her

“I’m okay, just a lot of pressure.” Callie told him rubbing her belly, when suddenly another contraction hit her.

“Okay, do you have the urge to push?” The doctor asked her and Callie nodded. “We will start on the next contraction having you push, but it will still take a while.” He told her as the contraction stopped.

“Can you go and tell Luke?” Chase asked Chasity.

“Of course.” She said and stood, but Callie wouldn’t release her. “I will come straight back. I promise.” Callie nodded and slowly released her.

“It’s going to be a while.” She told Luke and Jacob when she got out in the hall.

“Is she okay?” Luke asked her.

“Yeah, on the next contraction they are gonna have her push, but they said that could take a while.” Chasity told him rubbing her hand.

“What’s wrong with your hand?” Jacob asked her holding it between both of his.

“Callie tried to break it.” Chasity told him laughing.

“Are you okay?” Jacob asked her rubbing her hand gently.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” She smiled at him.

“How is Chase holding up?” Luke asked her.

“He’s good, his hand is stronger than mine.” She told him smiling.

“Do ya’ll need anything?” Jacob asked her.

“No, you should go on home.” She told him quietly.

“I’m not leaving Chasity.” Jacob told her with a smile.

  “Chasity!” Callie yelled.

“Times up.” Luke told her laughing.

“Gotta go.” She told Jacob with a smile, he pulled her in for a quick kiss then released her.

Chasity walked into the room followed by the nurse. The nurse started an iv and they said it was in case the contractions stopped after the first baby, so that they could start them back. Chasity had been trying to keep up with what was going on, but with everything happening it was really hard.

“Alright Callie, your next contraction should start soon, and we will push. Are you ready?” The doctor asked her and she nodded grabbing Chasity’s hand.

“Don’t you dare leave me again.” Callie snarled at her.

  “I won’t.” Chasity promised.

When the next contraction hit, Callie did as she was told and pushed. Chasity’s hand was numb by the fifth contraction and Chase was running a cool wet washcloth over Callie’s forehead. After another five contractions, the doctor said he could see a head. It took three more pushes for the baby to come out. It seemed like forever before it screamed, but she knew it was only a second.

“Congratulations, it’s a healthy baby boy.” The doctor said holding him up. Chasity looked over to see Callie and Chase both had tears running down their faces.

“May I take a picture to send to the ones we have waiting?” Chasity asked the nurse.

“Sure, you can come over here and take it while I clean him up and check him.” The nurse told her.

“Callie, I want you to rest through the next contraction, then we will start on the next baby, it should go much faster.” The doctor told her and she nodded.

Chasity walked over to the nurse and watched as she cleaned him. When he was most of the way clean and wrapped in a warm blanket, she took the picture and sent it to Luke and Jacob. She heard Luke’s excited voice outside and knew he had gotten it.

“Alright Callie, it’s time.” The doctor told her, they had given her the medicine to keep the contractions coming as a precaution.

  “Chasity.” Callie cried.

“Right here. He is beautiful.” Chasity told her sister and held her phone out so she could see it.

“Push Callie.” The doctor said and Callie started pushing again.

She could tell Callie was exhausted and Chase was a nervous wreck, but they were holding strong. Chasity couldn’t help but want that too. The first push didn’t do much, but the second had baby number two in position. On the fifth push, a sweet baby girl was born kicking and screaming.

“She’s going to be a handful.” The doctor told them.

“Just like her mom and aunt.” Chase said with a catch in his voice.

“Hey, you and Luke aren’t a picnic.” Callie told him.

“I love you, Callie girl.” Chase told her.

  “Love you too.” Callie whispered.

“Ready to hold your babies?” The nurse asked coming over with two little bundles in her arms.

  “Yes.” Callie said smiling.

“You won’t be able to hold them long. We have to get them checked, they may have to be on oxygen tonight in the nursery. It is only a precaution because they are small.” The nurse said placing the babies in her arms.

“Can my brother come in?” Chase asked the nurse. She quickly got Callie adjusted and covered then opened the door for them to come in.

Chasity was looking down at the babies and Callie when Jacob came around her side. Luke was standing behind his shoulder peeking over at the little ones. Callie looked up and smiled at her and she felt the tears start to fall.

“Want to hold one?” Callie asked her and she nodded.

“Hey sweet pea.” Chasity cooed at the baby when she had it settled in her arms. She felt Jacob’s arm around her and glanced up to see him looking at her and the baby.

“Hey, no fair. Why does she get to hold one and I don’t?” Luke said from his side.

“Because Callie tried to break my hand.” Chasity told him with a smile.

“Here Luke, you can hold this one.” Callie told him.

Chasity gave back the baby when Callie had that one handed off. She knew the nurse would be back soon and Callie should be the one holding them. Jacob wrapped both arms around her and watched Chase and Callie with the babies.

“I have a few questions, then I have to take the babies to the nursery.” The nurse said when she walked back in. “What a
re their names?”

“Lily Grace Collins and Chase Grant Collins.” Callie said, but Chase looked stunned.

  “Are you sure?” He whispered.

“Yeah, but we will call him Grant.” Callie smiled up at him.

“Are you going to breast feed?” The nurse asked next.

“No, I’m not sure I could keep up with both and I know I don’t eat what they need.” Callie told her honestly.

“Okay, I’m gonna take them to the nursery for their first baths, and I will check them out, then bring them back for a few minutes before we put them under the oxygen tent for the night.” The nurse told them.

“What’s wrong?” Luke asked white as a sheet.

“Nothing, they are fine, it’s just precaution.” Chase told him and Luke exhaled loudly.

“It’s late and I recommend ya’ll go home and rest.” The nurse told them before scooping up the babies.

“She’s right, we will be fine tonight.” Chase told them.

“I will be back in the morning.” Chasity told them. I will go by and put another closed sign on the bakery. It’s after midnight anyway.” Chasity reached over and kissed Callie on the cheek the hugged Chase. “Congratulations you two. They are perfect.”

“Thanks for everything.” Callie called to her and she turned back to smile and nod.

Instead of leaving she went to the nursery. They were the only babies in there. The nurse saw them and smiled. She was bathing one of the babies while the other slept. They looked so small. She stood there for a long time. Jacob was standing behind her with his arms around her not saying a word or rushing her.

“I want this one day.” Chasity whispered. She hadn’t meant to say it out loud.

“You will have it one day, and you will be great.” Jacob whispered in her ear.

“Let’s go, do you mind swinging by the bakery? I need to put out the sign. There’s no way I could go in after tonight.” Chasity said rambling. She didn’t know what to make of what he had said.

“Sure no problem. I told Luke to take tomorrow. Tray is gonna cover him and they will only call me if it’s an emergency.” Jacob said and kissed her cheek before taking her hand and leading her to his truck.

He held her hand as they drove to the bakery, and waited in the truck as she made the sign for the door. It was a small town and everyone would want to know, so she wrote: Bakery is closed due to two little people who don’t understand normal hours. Will reopen on Tuesday. Chasity smiled at her sign and hung it on the door. She could see Jacob laughing as she walked around to her side.

“It’s not nice to blame the babies.” He told her.

“I know, but they started it.” She joked back, Jacob’s laugh lit up her world.

“Let’s go home. I’m tired.” Jacob said as he pulled back onto the road and head for her house.

When they got to her place, she undressed and jumped in the shower. She need the warm water to relax her muscles after the events of the night. She couldn’t believe that in a few hours two perfect little babies had changed everything. When she finished, she brushed her hair and put on her panties and a tank top. Jacob was waiting on the bed when she opened the bathroom door. He had taken a shower too, and held up the blankets for her to crawl in with him. She didn’t hesitate, instead she curled up to him and put her head on his chest.

“Good night, sweetness.” Jacob said and tilted her head up for a soul stealing kiss.

“Good night.” She whispered when he broke the kiss.

She laid her head back down, and threw her leg over his. She wanted to feel close to him tonight, and he wasn’t resisting. Jacob gently rubbed her back with one hand, and he held her hand over his heart with the other. The steady beat of his heart combined with the way he was rubbing her back put her to sleep quickly and she slept all night.

  Chapter 13

Chasity woke up before Jacob this time. Slowly she turned her head and began kissing his chest. He moaned and pulled her in closer. She kissed everything she could reach, then kissed up his neck to his jaw. She kissed across to his lips and placed soft lingering kisses till he responded the her. She could tell when he was fully awake because he groaned and flipped them over so that he was in control. His hand had just started rubbing up her thigh when her phone went off, she broke off on a groan.

“You need to get that.” He said pulling her up with him.

“Yeah.” She said and kissed him again. Her cell phone stopped ringing, but her house phone started. “Fine.” She snapped reaching for her phone. “Hello.”

“I’m hungry and they don’t have good food.” Callie said when she answered.

“I didn’t open the bakery remember.” Chasity told her.

“Yes, I know, but I’m sure Susie is open.” Callie told her.

“What about sending Chase or calling Luke to go get it.” Chasity asked as Jacob kept rubbing her thigh.

“Chase is sleeping and I don’t want to wake him, and Luke is asleep in the waiting room.” Callie told her.

“Okay. I will be there shortly.” Chasity told her.

“Guess we have to get up.” Jacob said with a smile.

“Yeah, Callie wants food.” Chasity told him and leaned in for another kiss. Jacob kissed her back, and she was stunned to realize she was standing when he released her. “How do you do that?”

  “What?” He asked her confused.

“I didn’t even know I was being moved.” Chasity told him and huffed when he gave her a wicked grin.

“I will go get dressed and meet you in the living room.” Jacob said giving her a quick kiss on the cheek and walking away.

Chasity dressed quickly and brushed her hair and teeth before grabbing her phone and calling in the order. When she went to the living room, he was standing by the door with his keys ready to go. Probably for the best. If she had her way, they would be kissing all day.

“I called in an order at the diner so if you will just stop by, I will grab it and we can be on our way.” Chasity told him when he got in the truck. The drive to the diner was quick and he got out with her when they got there.

“Hey you two. I assume Callie sent you.” Susie asked them.

“Yeah, I called in our order.” Chasity told her.

“Hey, tell Callie I’ll be over when I get off work.” Kara said as she walked over with their order.

“Sure.” Chasity said and looked around for Jacob. He was on his way back to her.

“Ready to go sweetness? I already paid.” Jacob said giving her a quick kiss on the lips.

“Sure.” She said dazed and heard Kara laugh.

He waited for her to get settled then handed her the food before going around to start the truck. He held her hand on the drive to the hospital, and came around to help her out when they got there. He let her slide down his body, and kissed her hard before stepping back to let her step to the side so he could get the food out. They took the elevator to Callie’s floor and walked into a room of screaming babies.

“Oh thank God.” Callie said when she walked in.

“Need help with them?” Chasity asked stepping forward.

“No, I need the food.” Callie said with a laugh. “But if your offering you can finish feeding Lily so I can eat.”

“I would love to feed her.” Chasity said as she took the little wiggling baby in her arms and gave her the bottle. She gently swayed and cooed to her as she fed her. She looked up and caught Jacob watching her, he smiled at her and she smiled back before going back to the baby.

“Food, yay, someone brought food.” Luke said as he walked into the room. Grant was screaming and Chase looked exhausted.

“Jacob, will you hold Lily so I can feed Grant and Chase can eat?” Chasity asked when she finished burping her.

“Sure.” Jacob said reaching for Lily.” Hello Lily.” Jacob cooed and rocked her. Well, at least he didn’t panic Chasity thought as she went and got Grant.

“Come on little man, daddy needs to eat too.
Chasity said as she put the bottle in his mouth. He tried to eat too fast and Chasity had to pull the bottle back making him squall.

“He’s fine, just trying to eat too fast.” Chasity said when Callie gave her a panicked look.

After Luke ate, he took Lily from Jacob and Jacob walked over to where she was rocking Grant. Callie looked up and smiled but she was still eating so Chasity kept Grant and rocked him till he fell asleep.

“Did ya’ll eat at the diner?” Luke asked them.

“No.” Jacob told him and glanced at Chasity. “Give me Grant, you need to eat, we didn’t have dinner yesterday.”

“It’s okay, I can wait till they are done.” Chasity told him, but he scooped up Grant and kissed her forehead.

“Go eat. We are fine.” Jacob told her smiling.

Chasity nodded and walked over to the bag of food. She took out a plate and ate hers quick not wanting to bother Jacob with having to help with the babies. She had forgotten they hadn’t eaten last night. Poor Jacob was probably starving. She glanced up and he was bouncing Grant and walking around the room. He seemed perfectly at ease with the babies. Lily started fussing and Luke panicked.

“Chasity, what do I do?” Luke asked her.

“Give her to me and take Grant. He’s asleep.” Jacob said taking Lily and giving him Grant. “Now what’s all the fussing for?” Jacob asked bouncing her. “I know, you need a change don’t you honey. We can take care of that.” Jacob said going over to a bassinet to change her.

“Jacob, you don’t have to do that. I’ll get it.” Chasity said walking to him.

“It’s fine, I really don’t mind.” Jacob told her and quickly changed Lily. “That’s better isn’t it?” Jacob said picking her back up. Chasity finished her food then went for Lily.

“Your turn. Give her to me so that you can eat.” Chasity said taking her from him. Jacob smiled at her, then went and got his plate.

“Callie, how are you feeling today?” Chasity asked walking over to the bed with Lily.

“I’m good. Sore and tired, but good.” Callie said smiling as she finished her breakfast.

“Chase, did you even sleep last night?” Chasity asked him.

“I tried, but I wanted to see them, so I went back and forth between them and Callie.” Chase told her with a shrug.
