Figures of the One Must Go Page 10

by Victor Living

You feel you are not a free man. It bothers you even on the weekends. Maybe you’ll get a day when you feel you don’t belong to the environment of work. Maybe that will bring you relief. But when a new Monday comes, you remind yourself that come 8:00 a.m., you must be in a place that physically irritates you. But let’s first check for specific reasons. To achieve these answers, you may pull from the ancient knowledge, which has been sourced from many old names that refer to us as Main Bodies. I suppose you can recall many of them. These allegorical, but incarnated, symbols have been living with us from a bygone epoch to the present day. But today, if this person is a big chief above subordinates, you should learn how to be within his grasp at any minute. He has all rights over you and even your relaxation. It does not matter whether you like it or not; for that period, it’s confirmed its permanence. Do you get my point? Even though somebody can escape talk about ethical slavery, a phrase like “this is not a serfhood anymore” appears as an underlying principle. If you stay until fired by your monstrous manager, you must bend to his wishes like low-priced aluminum. Are you ready to compromise your integrity without asking a question? What do you do if the boss intentionally pays you much more than an average salary—fixed at a strict three hundred per hour? I’m not kidding. For every sixty minutes of working hours, you keep it. And as your boss does it the legal way, you can consider it a high-paying job. Also, you should know that nobody has a right to call you a remunerated slave, even as a joke. Let’s admit, your immediate response to this can be a full disregard of former outlooks on slavery. It was the view of slavery before you were hired for the high-paying job. Now, you make an acidic, sorry face. Yes, any friendly conversation about justice or modern slavery is just nonbinding chatter. But today, you can’t afford to miss such a brilliant opportunity and are happy to capture it. This year, you hurry to work and walk only with a smile—ten times a day asking yourself, “Who can fail to spot such a chance?” And you pull a quick answer: an idiot. Let me share something with you. I once met a man who used to work at the highest rate per hour I’d ever heard. He was a remarkable specialist in this specific field, and the president of another company tried to poach him by offering a triple payment of his current salary. And, he accepted the offer. Can you imagine what this former candidate said later about his new boss? He said, “When I see him, I’m in ecstasy to kneel and kiss his hands as if he is the Holy One.” He confessed this without inhibition in a circle of three men. Is that not absolutely disgusting?

At present times, we have become slaves with no conscience. Wouldn’t you agree that arrogant bosses are only buying us today as if we are a commodity? We have, in today’s language, transformed into machines for making more money for them. And if you are satisfied with your high salaries, you may not worry about any internal conscience. It appears as if the superior authoritarian has put you through permanent testing. Now, during your stay with him, you have to support high qualification as required by the job. And sometimes, the boss with a false smile, also tells you to your face, “I have no problem with you.” He can boast about this to others, but in his mind, he thinks, “Fantastic, I’ve never had such cheap and loyal slave.” Oh, you can disagree with me and oppose this as an unfair to estimate to why bosses so greedy. I concur with you. But put yourself in the subordinate role and make believe you make more than the average person. Maybe you are a hero, but ordinary people praise their boss as the best. And again, let’s omit fantasy and sentiments. When your career and prosperity are in strong hands, you don’t perceive such misery as being a bondservant. It’s only the high salary make you concerned about, and it doesn’t matter how soon you find your boss.

Today, you recognize him as a representative of the twenty-first-century, but why as an idol? Will you confirm that? On another hand, let me ask for your attention. Answer only in your mind. Would you agree or disagree with a joint bunch of words as meanings about despotic people living in our time? So, I’m affirming that a modern or archaic autocratic person (often a big boss) hasn’t change and has degenerated into the same oppressor, such as he wants absolute power over you and not to be guided to give any gratitude. You must obey orders, but if you get any chance for own advancement, you should worship him as if he is a saint:

  He accepts nobody’s autonomic ability.

Such a man exercises the tendency to scream at you, abject by coarse words, denouncing and ruining your reputation.

That man can afford to be unrestrained, merciless, riotous, and blatant with you, because he guesses even he is not officially a “king” (sorry about the irony), but still holds unconditional authority over you—

as DESPOTS of the MILLENNIUM are our bitter heredity.

Does this self-print of continued serving almost resemble the progeny of dictation? You bet! They were pharaohs, emperors, feudal kings as lords of serfs, tsars, Fuehrer, dictators—in effect, the maniacs who never thought about punishment from the regular masses. Were they the real owners of lives in a direct and figurative sense? Yes. Do we need to remind ourselves of the most prominent names? Yes, why not? Perhaps it’s smart to compare their characters with our current bosses? Sure. Even they are people of chronicles; make your judgment with a sharp brain, because when you delve into shocking details of this historical event, your heart will kindle a flame of pathetic indignation. But remember, their names serve as marked symbols about dark deeds to humanity.

Would that not be a biting wit if the honest worker labeled the cruel chief with one of these prominent names? Would it be wrong to recollect the names of famous stars of despotism? Who were they? The exhibits of such a showcase are real idols of immorality and are more than frightening. The miscreant enslaver and malicious tyrant—Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu. The sexual pervert and mauler of the Roman emperor—Caligula. The conqueror who brought on his enemies an unmatched genocidal scale of the carnage, besides plundering payment to his warriors—Genghis Khan. It’s a phrasemonger with the catchphrase, “The State? I’m the State”—French King Louis XIV, an absolute monarch and complacent. The lunatic ruler of bloodthirsty habits, who killed his son—Russian Tsar Ivan the Terrible. The betrayer of the French Revolution, a starter of wars with countless victims, torturer of prisoners and civilians of other countries—the megalomaniac emperor Napoleon. An insane decision maker who organized his army officers and caused intelligentsia killings, starvation in the Ukraine, and the repression of millions—Soviet communist dictator Stalin. And, the fascist-misanthrope-paranoiac determinator of the “Jewish question” by death in concentration camps with gas chambers—deranged Hitler.

We can continue with such a gloomy list from the menagerie that embodies representations of evil. Even if you add the newest modern dictators, it only extends the features of a live autocracy in character of our bosses. Do you perceive this to be a challenge of today’s society? Yes. But, if we recall any historical events related to ordinary lowbrow folks who lived during the days of the greatest tormentors, we only find one-sided reverence.

What was inside of that crowd? While it may not be explicit for the contemporaries, it’s understandable that in time, you end up serving a monster with a human face. Equally, we have many historical documents that show that the slightest disobedience to your master by the hoi polloi results in a callous, castigating reprimand. That’s why, speaking about it is essential. I believe an initiative about the fortitude of humankind is a functional imperative here. Soulful torment is always estimated to be harder than the simple damnation. Consider, in the next fifty years, would we already be considered history? Yes. However, does somebody’s strict command still drive our congenital perspicacity toward the demand and search for “rights and light!” Can a future world hope for to conquer domination someday? The people know: yes. And this congenital summit inherent to us will never die.

Have you kept quiet about your opinion that such a commander is a brazen-blunt bull? Only you can be honest about that answer. Isn’t it better to just space out from such “
dilemma director?” Or do you spell out to him how he is a brute in your eyes and leave? Let’s repeat, only you can accurately respond as you begin to understand this diverse version of arrogance by selecting the bossy

  MODERN TYRANTS—the burden of insult.

If you have been working under permanent, heavy pressure, you could even agree and testify that today’s bosses have made our lives the lowest-price ever. The current “rulers” have not just thrones but expensive networks of connections to control all around subordinates. But, if someone asks about the rationale, they will admit—they hold the power in their hands. At one event, I saw a deluxe headquarters, which was accommodating one high-ranking official. His cabinet was huge; it was possible to make a U-turn in a truck on those premises. That raised a question: Does he need this giant place? It looks like an enigma of our time. It is a policy to show others, “Can you grasp how important and big I am?” Try to give one positive about this behavior, but as a regular person, you will only see the representations of those coldhearted, pachydermatous and obdurate people.

As an alternative today, you may see how the decision maker of your fate uses another powerful weapon. It’s after any of your actions for “not following orders,” you get thrown away on the street at once. The phrase, “You’re fired” isn’t an offense anymore—it has evolved into a popular metaphor. That’s why people corroborate it. If you want to earn a higher salary, you should learn unconditional and almost robotic obedience. And you better pull harder than anyone. Also, consider in such circumstances, there is no distinction between a worker who prefers respect and the genuflected employee. The fact is, they can push out in a minute. Is this a tendency at work today? Yes. And that is more stringent if we talk about the upper position and a huge salary. And the sooner you understand it, the faster you get promoted and shift to the top. Isn’t that fortunate? Yes. But a fascinating truth is that the highest earnings demand the most self-mortifying functions.

You should be prepared to jump in front of an employer on your hind legs while juggling and wearing a ridiculous outfit.

It’s a similar sick, subservient soldering. It’s also an endless questioning of exclusive execution—because it’s only

  INHUMAN SUBORDINATION—not slavery. Ha-ha!

But sometimes life brings faddish exceptions. Let me narrate one interesting conversation that stands against any subordination. My cousin Henry is the source of this. He is not an average man. As a professional, he is notable for having earned people’s respect. However, he has one huge problem with his personality. He doesn’t accept seniority. His face almost shows antipathy, contempt, and odium to any of his bosses. It is not particularly 'okay' when, in a man’s psychology, emperors, kings, tsars, or even modern high officials exist. Isn’t that nonsense? Yes. And as a concurrent risk, it destroys opportunities for making an upright living. Now, I will recall another dialogue with him, which appears like a confession.

“I hate bosses,” answered Henry, when I asked to whom he spoke of in such a tense voice.

“Hello, that’s your boss? How dare you talk to him like that?” I asked stunned.

“Yes, that’s my boss. He is a complex clown whose ambitions are to be king.”

“Wait, how you afford to say such things?” I requested getting angry. “As I remember, I used my connections almost at the top to get you in that position?”

“I appreciate it. Sorry, its like a disease.”

  “What do you mean, trouble?”

“It’s more than that. I am very assertive and decisive.”

“Oh, with such an attitude, you’ll never find a boss. You will keep jumping from one company to another.”

“I sense it as a ghastly touch point. It’s bothered me a long time.”

“Are you kidding me? Can you tell me more about it?”

Henry frowned but then smiled, and said, “It’s difficult for me. I discovered this attitude of mine when I was sixteen. If even a teacher tried to push me, I would resist.”

“Good for you, and congratulations, man!”

  “What do you mean?”

“Now I understand why in this one year you have already changed three companies. Mister Bro, are you even valuable to anyone?”

“Yes. And I tell you more. In my life, I have met only a few men whom I admired in my heart, while the rest of them deserved only damnation.”

“That’s your journey, but could you allow someone to be above you who is more educated and experienced?”

“Sure. I value that, but that’s the practical part of the matter.”

“Whoever is your boss, he counts on you. He believes in you.”

  “I agree even…”

“Don’t interrupt me. Consider, when someone is positioned in the rank of supervisor, manager, concrete boss, whatever… what are you supposed to do?”

“As a crucial point, I guess a manager creates a reverential working atmosphere.”

  “Yeah, maybe he babysits you?”

  “I didn’t mean that.”

“Okay, let me put it another way. Are you aware how much he paid for his last project?”

  “I am not.”

“I presume you have respectable estimation skills. Tell me how much money the boss invests in work. For instance, the president of my company takes risk all time, but he is a real winner and learns how to be the same. For our project in Queens, he already spent over nine hundred thousand dollars. Yes, it seems like too much, but those expenses include documentation, administrative costs, all kinds of mandatory insurances for safety on a job site, labor, and medical insurance for workers (he does it by personal initiative—it’s not even required), materials, equipment, transportation, etc. So, if he’ll return what was already spent, the profit is expected to be around the same few hundred thousand dollars. Isn’t that an investment? But the main idea, as I see it, hello Mister Revolutionary, he gave a regular job for a few months to over twenty-five workers. What did you give? Hello Mister Protester, what do you expect? Do you hope for the boss to hug you with tears in his eyes and entreat, ‘Please, dear Henry, please! I want only you to conduct the next project.’”

  “Come on, are you joking?”

“No, I’m not, bro. And I have a demanding point for you. I would say that no boss should pamper a person hired as a manager. Am I wrong?”

  “I do not ask that.”

“Wait, let me finish. If I’m hiring you, I need a thousand percent assurance that you are my eyes, hands, and legs at the project site. But, as a chief, I never ask whether he goes to the next project or not. Man, you have to deserve it. I can only inform you about it and maybe comment on how correct a former job is. I’m done, man.”

“Yeah, but now please listen to my take on the problem.”

“Man, I see no issues at all.”

“But it’s not for me. Are you able to distinguish how I assess you when you move on to the next project?”

  “Sorry, I don’t understand.”

“Don’t fool around, bro. I’m certain you quite understand quite well what I mean.”

  “Sure, you’re special.”

“No, I’m just normal. But first, I should jump in front of the boss on my hind legs. Second, I must display a readiness to catch his every glance or even a turn of his head. Third, essentially, I must pretend I’m overactive and prepared to push workers into operational cattle. Do you want me to continue with a legal part?”

  “Oh, what’s that?”

“It’s a legitimate part of business, as it regards to the employee’s moral part.”

“Bravo. It’s unbelievable. Are you an actor, man?”

“Yes, I act in my role only to please the boss. Look, we must do a project by the book, one hundred percent. Do you know what happens?”

  “Go ahead.”

“I never could conduct and complete the task in the normal way.”

  “Are you kidding?”

  Henry made a crackbrain face.

  “As usual
the boss asked to push the project faster. The result, we stayed there only a few weeks. The next project was for five months, and he hinted that he would like to put me there to be accountable. However, he also told me that he would be in control of my every move, as I was still new to the company.”

  “What is bad about that?”

“Listen, that is illegally how he buys me. And by demand, I have to divide my work area (my second project) into two parts. If I do the first part at sixty percent, by legal regulation, and the second part at forty percent. By night, when there is no one around to watch, it means there aren’t any regulations. But, if I’m doing the job faster and make a secret deal with third-party inspectors to complete only thirty percent by the official way and seventy percent by rapid fire, the boss estimates me as the golden one. Only then will I be welcomed into the company for a permanent stay as the yes-man who is not scared to risk for the boss and flog along workers. Isn’t that excellent?”

“But that is the everywhere the same. We do many parts for our bosses.”

“That is a problem, even you perceive it wrong.”

“No, it’s not that. What do you think? You can just arrive from the street and the boss must hug you with open arms?”

“Nobody is saying this. Everyone goes on probation, and even if I bring the best workers to his company, he hurries to declare, ‘You’re a good man, but I will not marry you.’”

  “So, what’s the issue?”

“Oh, for me it’s nothing and everything. When I accept the chief’s rules, I’m on autopilot, as an accomplice getting into a stable wrongdoing. The people call such fellows a ‘number six’ by European manner and a ‘yes-man’ by American.”
