Baby Bear

“You do make me happy, and I love you so much. You always come through for me.”
“I’m trying.”
A large three-story Victorian home with a U-shaped driveway appeared before them. Tall oak and maple trees mingled with old willow trees decorated the plush landscape. It looked more like a mansion than a house. Daddy Darius parked in front of the white home. The red truck seemed out of place. Daddy Darius faced Abel. “This is going to be our new home. It’s closer to the hotel and much bigger than our cabin.”
“When did you buy it?” Abel asked, trying to digest what Daddy Darius had just said.
“I didn’t. It belonged to my parents, and they left it to me.”
“So, it’s all yours now?”
“Yes. My brother, who you haven’t met yet, owned half, but I bought him out. I’ve had it remodeled inside to make it work for our lifestyle. By now, you should know, you live where I live.”
Daddy Darius’s announcement struck Abel speechless. He didn’t know what to say. The house was huge, like a king’s castle. The white-gated home’s gardens included decorative shrubs and flowers in various colors. A hard-working man like Daddy Darius deserved this home, but Abel wasn’t sure he belonged here himself. He felt unworthy of living in a fairy-tale castle.
Daddy Darius had come from an influential family with money, but Abel didn’t have any idea how much income he’d accumulated from the Blue Diamond Diner and the Eriksen Lake Hotel. Certainly, his income sources were none of Abel’s business, but he wondered what kind of childhood Daddy Darius had had. Surely, he’d never worried about food or having a roof over his head. He bet he’d never once worn hand-me-downs or bought clothes in secondhand shops.
“Were you raised here?” Abel asked, running his hand through his hair.
“Yes. I’ve many good memories here. It’s big, and you could get lost in there.”
“I never lived in a real home. We lived in trailers, tents, or motels. I’ll have to get used to living in this place.”
“You will. Wait until you see the inside.”
“I can’t wait.” Abel laughed.
“I never pictured myself living here alone, but with you, I’m looking forward to it.”
Daddy Darius had allowed Abel to work at the hotel, since he owned it. Abel didn’t care who owned it as long as he would finally have a secure paying job. He wanted to earn his own money and pay his way, not be a freeloader. He didn’t want to live off Daddy Darius, even though he’d made it clear to Abel that one of his responsibilities as his Papa Bear included financially taking care of him. Daddy Darius also pointed out that all the Papa Bears were financially responsible for their Baby Bears, and Abel would be depriving Daddy Darius of doing his job if he argued against it. Abel had agreed but still felt uncomfortable about it at times. But it was part of the deal for Daddy Darius to be his Papa Bear. All good Baby Bears trusted their Papa Bears.
“Come on, let’s go inside so you can see where we’ll be living.”
Abel jumped out of the truck and trailed behind Daddy Darius to the front of the house. He stopped, waiting for Abel and taking his hand on their way to the front door. Daddy Darius fumbled with the keys and let them in. “Well?”
“I don’t know what to say.” Abel scanned the North Shore paintings decorating the white walls as they stopped in the archway to the living room, where there was a stone fireplace stacked with cut wood. The North Shore village and beach scenes represented Darius’s roots. The home had a faint cleaned scent, mingled with the smell of fresh paint. It was the most beautiful house he had ever been in.
“My mother painted the beautiful pictures on the wall. She was a professional watercolor artist, and she used to teach oil painting and art history at the local university.” Daddy Darius gestured to a painting that depicted many colorful sailboats. “That’s my favorite one.”
“I didn’t know that about your mother. Very impressive,” Abel said, thinking about his mother. She wasn’t lucky enough to have had a career or to pursue what she’d dreamed about like Daddy Darius’s mother. Abel’s father had assigned chores for his wives. Abel would never forget the one time she’d told him she had wanted to be a ballerina, but his father wouldn’t allow her to take lessons. Dancing was forbidden and sinful, according to his father. He often wondered if he loved dancing because of his mother. When Abel was five, his father had caught his mother dancing in the laundry room. He’d made her pitch a tent and stay in the backyard for two weeks. Abel had cried every night, knowing his mother was outside, cold and alone in that tent. The other wives brought food to her, but his father wouldn’t permit her out of the tent for the duration of her punishment.
“Abel, I want you in my life forever. You mean so much to me, and I don’t want to live without you.”
“I feel the same way, Daddy Darius. I see us together for a long time.”
“We’ll work on our relationship, but I want us to move to a more permanent commitment.”
“Permanent? Do you mean like marriage?”
“Yes. We’re not ready now, but I hope someday we move into marriage.”
“Well, then I’m going to work hard and fast on it.” Abel hugged Daddy Darius and kissed him.
“You are the light of my life. I mean it. I’ve never been this happy ever.”
“Me either.”
“Let’s check out the kitchen,” Daddy Darius said.
Abel trailed behind Daddy Darius down the long hallway back to the kitchen. It was at least three times larger than the kitchen at the cabin and held all updated appliances, and beautiful bright colors decorated the room. The red décor complemented the gray walls.
“So, when do we move in?” Abel asked.
“The movers came while we were on vacation. I left some of our things because I’m keeping the cabin. This house had everything I needed except for my Baby Bear, and now I have him.”
He pushed Abel’s back against the wall and kissed him. Their cocks rubbed, and their tongues locked while Daddy Darius’s hands fondled his hair. Abel puffed air out, panting, needing more.
Daddy Darius pushed Abel away. “There’s a pool in the backyard.”
“Wow.”
“Do you know what that means?”
“We’re going swimming,” Abel said.
“Have you ever skinny dipped?”
“No.”
“Then that will be a first for you later on, but now we’re going to try out our new bed,” Daddy Darius said, taking Abel’s hand.
Never had Abel felt this happy and secure in his entire life until now.
