Grinning, Gavin pulled her close and gave her a long, deep kiss. “Now it is. I love you.”

“I love you, too,” she whispered, her eyes going soft and dark. “What do you have planned for the rest of the day?”

It had been hard for Gavin to convince her that she did not have to hold down a job while going to college after they were married, but he would be eternally grateful that she decided not to work. Even if she had insisted on paying her tuition herself. But he loved having the extra time with her in the afternoons when she wasn’t studying and he wasn’t working.

“Oh, I don’t know,” he said in answer to her question as he waited for her to fasten her seat belt. When she finished, he put the car in gear and pulled away from the curb. “I thought I’d spend the rest of the afternoon making love to my wife.”

  “Oh, really?”

“Yeah. Unless she’s got a better idea.”

  “Gavin?”

  “Yeah?”

She placed her hand on his knee, then slowly slid it up his thigh. “Drive faster.”

  “Yes, dear.”
