Royals and Realms (Vampires of Crescent Cape Book 4) Page 18

by L. Danvers

When I wasn’t busy with school, working in Xander’s new bookshop or figuring out how to re-open the portal, I was working on myself. I’d been through a heck of a lot, so when Xander brought in the Book Slayers under the guise of working in his bookstore, he connected me with one of them who had a doctorate in psychology. Dr. Sandor was helping me work through all the trauma I’d experienced. And helping me learn to forgive myself.

Believe it or not, my brother was still speaking to me. Not often, but hey—I’d take what I could get.

He told me that he left his coven, and while I didn’t know exactly where he’d settled down, I was glad that he was rebuilding his life.

I had just finished typing up the last bit of my term paper when Xander stormed through the front door of the bookstore.

To the public, it was your run-of-the-mill shop. He didn’t let them go upstairs—to the home of the Book Slayers’ newest library. He had convinced the vampires he’d sired to come here and help us research a way to bring Julian and Danielle back. And they were happy to oblige.

Xander’s hair was disheveled, like he’d run all the way over here. He was panting by the time he reached me.

Looking up from behind the counter and sliding my computer to the side, I lifted my brows. “What’s up?”

“Grace, you’re not going to believe this: I’ve got a lead.”

He told me everything he’d uncovered.

Would it be enough to break the seal? We couldn’t be sure. But after chasing so many dead ends, it was the most promising prospect we’d had so far.

“Do you know what this means?” he said, eyes twinkling. “This could be the answer to everything.”

I drew my hand to my mouth, barely concealing my huge smile.

“Come on, Grace! What are you waiting for? Let’s go.”

I nodded. “Let’s bring them home.”
