“No I didn’t, but how do you know all this, DeLonn?”
“Charlene called me and told me what went down. She knew If I found out on my own I’d have to hurt her.”
“But wouldn’t her people have protected her from you and how do we know it wasn’t her that controlled that blue light.”
“She was a nobody in her group and she knew it. Her people wouldn’t be bothered to protect her and anyways my faith keeps me safe from their blue light. It can’t touch a true believer of my people’s religion. My cousin and the others with me, they’s family, but they don’t really believe. I’m willing to bet the blue light that killed Nia that night came from across the waters, from the land of the rich.”
I thought about that for a moment. “You’re right, it did come from that way. And the cops seemed to know it was coming. They responded very quickly.”
“Charlene’s bosses are powerful and have their hands in everything in this town. They didn’t plan for that car to hit Nia, but Charlene saw what happened and called her people. The blue light was sent to clean things up just in case my sister survived. That’s why I need to leave when this job is done. They might still try and kill me in a more traditional way. I’m grateful you and your cop friend took care of Charlene. Listen to me, you got nuthin here, mon, join up with me and mine. My people will welcome a man like you into their ranks and we can be grand lovers.”
“Sounds good. Can you keep me safe?”
“Hell yeah, mon.”
“Then you must know who you’re up against here.”
“No, that I don’t know. Nuthin could’ve ever gotten that out of Charlene. The people in charge keep their mouths shut and they rule by absolute fear. Anyway, my Nia is dead and they’ve forced me hand. I must have my vengeance, me family must have blood. An innocent must pay for my sister’s life which was innocent. These people trust me, I’ve been here a long time, the job will be easy. I’ve been having my way with them many years and they’ve been unawares. Do you trust me?”
“Yes,” I said.
He walked over to his toolbox and pulled another bottle from it. Squeezing down on the spout he took a drop of oil out and spread it across my lips.
My lips started getting hot, but I wasn’t afraid. He began kissing me and my body was getting hotter and my cock harder. My breathing grew faster and I felt hornier than I’d ever felt before. He sucked hard on my lips and swiped his tongue across them wiping up the oil he’d placed on them. I felt my body began to calm.
“What the hell—”
He put a finger to my lips. “Imagine me putting this oil all over these people’s bodies when I work on them. They are practically my slaves. I can’t be bothered with them beyond giving them their happy ending. They don’t deserve even that much but I do it to get their money. I never even did that much with the twink in the shower, he’s too weak and pathetic. Just a naive rich boy. Still, I am glad you got the gunman tonight, he was a cousin I never did like. That cousin couldn’t do even the simplest job right. He didn’t deserve to live, you could see how he screwed up a simple hit, which I didn’t even order. That unbelieving pig tried to do it all on his own, to impress the family. Failure is not impressive. Tonight I will take my time and have the Kennedy boy’s ass before I take his life.”
He removed a large, shiny knife from his toolbox and placed it under the towel that was on top of his massage table.
“As soon as I enter his ass I will slice his throat from ear to ear. Then I’ll take his body to my people before feeding it piece by piece to the creatures of the swamp.”
“He doesn’t deserve to have you in him,” I said, secretly disturbed at what he planned for Alex. “Did he have a hand in your sister’s murder?”
“No, he is unaware, an innocent. The perfect counterpart to my sister. Do you want him? You can have him when I’m done and before—”
He’d stopped because the shower had stopped.
“Yeah I’ll take sloppy seconds,” I said, “but don’t waste all of this,” I gave his cock a yank before I continued. “Don’t waste all of that on him, it’s too good for him.”
“I hear ya, mon. No worries on that front.”
Alex walked out of the bathroom with only a towel around his waist. He went to the massage table, and I turned and walked to the window. I didn’t want to give anything away on my face when Alex took that towel off. The stakes were high here. I’d been in tough situations before, but I was outmatched by the masseur hulk. He was all about avenging his sister’s death and his anger would increase his strength. Time for me to think fast, I thought. In order for Alex and me to survive it’s important for me to get my hands on my gun. And DeLonn needs to think I’m on his side until the time comes for me to make my move. Looking out the window I could see movement outside, DeLonn’s family members are there waiting—would they come running up to help him? My instincts told me DeLonn was watching me, there was no need to turn around and confirm it yet. Everything in my demeanor has to tell him that I’m on his side in order for me to succeed. It wouldn’t be easy because I’d realized earlier that I had real feelings for Alex. There was a need to put my feelings aside for now in order to keep him alive.
“Mmm… oh yeah, DeLonn,” Alex said.
“You like that, boy,”
“Yes, Sir.”
Watching them I made sure to give DeLonn time to fix Alex’s hurt back and shoulder, as I was sure he’d do before trying anything else. A masseur was all about healing and he would heal Alex before killing him. Time to seal the deal with my enemy. DeLonn and the table were between me and the gun and I would need clear access to that gun. I turned and looked straight into DeLonn’s dark eyes. We both smiled at one another. He pointed down to Alex on the table then looked back at me and threw his head back. I walked up to DeLonn, kissed him and slipped him the tongue before stepping back and watching the show.
DeLonn’s strong, dark ebony colored hands made Alex’s skin look pale in comparison. He ran his hands up around Alex’s shoulder and back before doing long strokes from the top of his back to his feet. Once in a while he’d look at me to check my reaction. I had to react and he’d know if I was faking, so it had to be real. DeLonn began kneading Alex’s small, smooth ass. Staring at them , I allowed myself to get turned on enough to fool DeLonn. Next time he looked at me I had one hand down my shorts and the fingers of my other hand tweaking my nipples. He motioned for me to get closer and when I did he took my hand and placed it on Alex’s back. It was hot, extremely hot, even hotter than my lips had been. Alex’s body was beginning to writhe around in ecstacy and he was groaning. DeLonn spread Alex’s ass and smiled then he kneeded it again before kissing it sweetly. He grinned widely, almost insanely.
My chance was coming, DeLonn was losing himself in the scene.
“Are those your guys outside?” I whispered in his ear before nipping at it.
“Yeah, why you askin?”
“Do you have time to fuck him like you planned?”
“Yeah, why?” DeLonn said.
“I wanna see you take him right here, right now. Tear him open with that big dick of yours, baby.”
DeLonn grinned then kissed me sloppily before kissing and massaging Alex’s ass. When he bent over Alex I began kissing his smooth dark ass cheeks. He began to relax and started to straddle Alex and position him for entry. His hand was reaching for the knife and he laid it on top of the sheet, within his easy reach.
“Play with my nipples, detective, it gets me in a mood.”
I reached up and tugged on his nipple rings with one hand while tugging on his cock ring with my other hand. He was rubbing his cock against Alex’s ass cheeks. I managed to maneuver my body behind the table and toward the dresser without letting go of DeLonn. My eyes didn’t leave his body and I saw him arching his back and getting ready. It was time to make my move.
Chapter 11
Night Moves.
DeLonn surprised me by how quickly he’d grabbed his knif
e. I’d been right where I needed to be and now things had changed and I was forced to grab his wrist. He gave me a strange look which I returned with a smile.
“Let me kiss the knife for luck,” I said.
He didn’t let go of the blade but brought it to my lips and I kissed it. Before he could return to what he was doing, I head-butted him. Even after that, he managed to grasp me around my waist and throw me to the ground with one arm. Shit! This guy is strong.
Before I could get up he had his knee down on my chest holding me down and leaving me winded.
“Why?” he said. “Why you helpin’ this worthless piece of shit?”
No use lying now, I thought. I saw Alex sitting up and looking at us, his eyes hazy.
“Can I join in the fun?” he said, completely out of it
DeLonn was taken off guard and I managed to throw him off, but he was between me and the dresser.
“Kiss, I wanna see you two kiss,” Alex said.
“Why not?” DeLonn said grabbing me with one arm and pulling me close.
I only put up a pretense of a fight because up close to DeLonn is exactly where I needed to be. He still had the knife in his hand and hopefully I would have the chance to do what I had in mind.
“One last kiss, detective,” DeLonn said.
He pulled the back of my hair back so my head was tilted up with his knife against my neck. But my hands were free. With one hand I fondled his cock and with my other hand his nipple.
“We could’ve been good together, detective,” DeLonn said before kissing me.
In two quick motions, using all my strength I yanked out both DeLonn’s nipple ring and cock ring. He yelled loudly and fell over on the floor next to me. That gave me enough time to open my dresser drawer and get my gun out. Shockingly, he managed to jump up and I saw a face filled with fury and a knife pointing toward me.
“You are fucked, detective!”
He was ready to pounce on me when I pointed my gun his way and took several shots all of which hit him squarely in the chest. The man staggered but still moved toward me. With all that I’d seen I wasn’t taken the chance that he had supernatural powers like the blue light.
“Sorry about Nia,” I said before putting a bullet between his eyes. Once he’d dropped to the floor and stopped twitching I rushed to the window to check for his friends. Instead of them I saw blue lights—flashing police lights.
I went to Alex, who’d reacted to everything by having an orgasm, and cleaned him up before throwing a bed sheet around his shoulders.

Francisco’s trusted fellow police officer, Steve Landers was on the scene and interviewing me. An EMT guy looking over Alex was helping him into the shower. The police had already confiscated DeLonn’s toolbox, as they were anxious to analyze the oil he’d used on Alex and me. When we had a minute alone, Officer Steve turned to me.
“I want to let you know that Francisco and Jimmy are safe in New Orleans. Francisco called me on my private cell phone so no one would know. This is some mess here. You know how to take care of yourself in a tough situation, Layton.”
“You just do what you can to get the advantage. DeLonn wasn’t alone.”
“I figured that much,” Steve said. “The acting manager here called us when he heard the gunfire and he mentioned seeing people scattering off in the brush outside. We got here quickly since Alex Kennedy was involved. The police station isn’t very far from here.”
“Do you need me to make a statement at the station?” I said.
Steve smiled before responding. “You’ve already figured things out here enough to know that won’t be necessary. We’ve been unofficially told that this problem will be taken care of. Except for setting up roadblocks so the folks who were with DeLonn can’t leave we’re to look the other way.”
“I wouldn’t have expected anything else,” I said. “Someone’s gonna take care of the others that were with DeLonn, aren’t they.”
“That would be my guess. We’ll probably be called in after DeLonn’s people have been dealt with permanently. You try and have a good night, Layton,” he said with a boyish smile.
He was cute with a mop of light brown hair, brown eyes, and the beginning of a gut. A nice guy forced to play games to appease some hidden masters. I shook his hand and then everyone left except for me and Alex. They’d gone sooner than I’d expected. When I looked at the clock it was earlier than I thought it would be. Things had happened so quickly, much quicker than it felt like they did. It was a quarter till eleven which meant that I still had time to see Anjelica. Opening a dresser drawer I pulled out a black T-shirt and put it on then got my black flip-flops out of the closet and put them on. As I dug my gun out from the closet, Alex shyly emerged from the bathroom wearing his clothes and flip-flops from earlier. He started shaking his head as if trying to wake himself up.
“Finally,” I said smiling and walking by him to make my way to the bathroom. There was no time for a shower but I definitely wanted to wash and rinse my mouth. Before I could get to the door, though, Alex reached for me and hugged me tightly. I kissed the top of his head.
“You, okay?” I said.
“Yes, thanks to you… again. I trusted him, Layton, and I’m not really sure what just happened.”
I held his chin up so he could look me in the eyes and know I was telling him the truth.
“Nothing happened. I got him before he could get you, and he said nothing has ever happened between the two of you. And I believe him. It was just about the money when he did massages and about revenge this time.”
“But how do you know nothing ever happened, I don’t even remember what happened tonight.”
“It’s a side effect of all the massage oil and the fact that you were in a state of pure heat and lust brought on by that oil. Be glad you don’t remember it and don’t try to, he’s gone now. And trust me, if he’d ever had his way with you then you would’ve known the next day. You wouldn’t have been able to walk straight.” I smiled and raised my eyebrows trying to get a smile from him.
Alex laughed almost in spite of himself. “He did have a big piece of meat. But he used to be so nice and tonight he tried to do things to me and had plans to kill me.”
“Alex, they killed his sister. The man probably couldn’t think straight after that happened. He was hellbent on revenge and an eye for an eye. Let me rinse my mouth out and brush my teeth then we gotta head out.” Nothing from tonight had a chance to sink in yet for either of us which was probably a good thing. There was no time to deal with emotions right now, we had an appointment for a boat ride.
I finished in the bathroom and then Alex and I left in the Jag.
* * * *
“Hey, this isn’t the way to my house,” Alex said.
I saw doubt and fear enter his face for a moment and it hurt me more than I would’ve thought. Taking his hand in mine I held it to my lips, kissed it then held it.
“We’re meeting with a friend and going on a boat ride,” I said. “I have a feeling we’re gonna see some blue light this evening after all.”
“Layton, can I trust you? I want to—no—I need to trust you above everyone else. I’m not sure why.”
“You have to trust your own instincts about me. But I will say this, DeLonn would’ve had to kill me to get to you tonight. There was no way in hell I was gonna let him fuck you then kill you. From now on, you’re by my side, understand.”
“You just want my ass for yourself. In any case I’m going to have a room prepared for you at the old estate and I guess you’d better pack for an overnight trip to New Orleans tomorrow night.”
“I’ll do that, but what’s in New Orleans?”
“My show there is over, I need to look over things to make sure the items that sold are ready to go out and I’ll also be collecting a nice check from the gallery owner.”
“Well, you’re the boss,” I said, turning into Cicero’s now empty parking lot. Neither Alex nor I let go of each other
s hands until we got out of the car.
Anjelica was waiting for us out front.
“I saw the police cars go by earlier, are you two ok?” She said.
“Yeah, thanks to Layton,” Alex said.
“By the way, Anjelica, I trust this guy completely,” I said, putting my arm around Alex’s shoulder. “And he’s not leaving my side for now.”
“Understood,” she said. “Do you know where you want to head out to look for blue light?”
“Where would anyone that was with DeLonn be hiding out,” I said as we followed her along the outside of the building to the dock out back. “The cops told me they have roadblocks up to look for them, so they’ll be hiding in town somewhere.”
“They’ll be at Nia’s place which luckily for us is facing the water,” Anjelica said. “We’ll be able to see it from the boat.”
“Were you friends with Nia?” I said.
“She helped out here at the restaurant a couple of times,” Anjelica said. “One time she invited Jimmy, me and some of the others to her house for drinks. She was a really hard worker.”
We walked to Anjelica’s small green motorboat at the end of the dock. Alex looked like a zombie so I helped him onto the boat. Once he and Anjelica were settled, I untied the rope which moored the boat to the dock and cast off while Anjelica handled the motor.
“Alex, you don’t look too well,” Anjelica said.
He filled her in on what he remembered from the evening while I kept a keen eye on everything around us. Once in a while I felt for the gun in my back pocket. It was a dark night but there was enough of a moon to cast eery shadows on the water from trees overhead. Something about being in the South and seeing all these shadows and trees unnerved me. I felt out of my element. Anjelica turned the boat and I could see the streetlights as well as lights from occupied homes ahead of us on the left.
“Alex, I’m really sorry about everything that happened to you,” Anjelica said. “DeLonn was trusted by a lot of folks here. At least your handsome detective was there to help. Speaking of whom, Layton, we’re getting close to Nia’s place. The house is in front of the house to the left of us. It’s just a tiny cottage.”
