It’s boring, its boring, don’t you get it
It’s boring, its boring, come now let’s end this
All I think about is you, you
All I think about is you, you
All I think about is you
Honey, honey, please don’t run
I wanna say, I adore you
What you wanna say, I already know
So don’t act like I don’t exist
I know, you are all alone
You don’t have, any boyfriend yet
Anyone can tell by, just looking at you
So please don’t reject me yet
All I think about is you, you
All I think about is you, you
All I think about is you
“Thank you!” Sachin said bowing to the crowd as the song ended and there was a roar of approval and claps.
Sakshi hugged Natasha tightly “I wish I was in your place!” she shouted to Natasha.
“My place? Being sandwiched by two boys who both kissed me without asking? Not cool!” Natasha thought.
“Natasha you okay?” Sakshi asked since she didn’t say anything.
“I thought you only like rock songs so how come your the one who’s excited? Besides he didn’t sing for you anyway,” Natasha yelled amid the din.
“Aw! He is a sweet heart no?” Sakshi asked.
“He is annoying! Everyone gonna stare at me now,” Natasha said displeased.
“Who cares your a celebrity—” the rest of the sentence was drowned amid the clamour as students screamed louder now with screeches heard here and there.
“Wow it’s a rock band!” Sakshi said.
“Really? Can you see their faces?” Natasha asked.
“They are wearing mask’s so cool!” Sakshi said in excitedly.
“Hello people who wants some noise!” A guy in the red mask asked the crowd.
The crowd responded with cheers and whistles.
“He sounds familiar,” Natasha thought.
“Wait don’t tell me,” Sakshi remembered suddenly.
“This song is dedicated to my most annoying friend!” The guy announced and the band of 4 burst into tune with their instruments.
“This song is called she’s just another lady!” he announced amid the background music.
She is crazy, she brainy and little bit of hasty
No matter, what she does, she’s just another lady
No matter what you do, you can’t forget it
She’ll dig in, right through you, and steal all your feelings
She is crazy and brainy and little bit hasty
No matter, what she does, she’s just another lady
No matter, who you are, you can’t believe it
For she will, just make you, just as crazy
Time to run, time to run, time to run, time to run
Time to run, time to run, time to run, time to run
She’s like a daisy, and shady, and just like milady
She’ll see it, right through you, just like hades
No matter, what you are, you just can’t resist
Na Na (he went along with the music)
She’s just a lady, and I’m a bit crazy
So just have a bit of sympathy
For your not crazy
She is crazy, my lady, for I’m not ready
She’s cozy, I’m lazy, and we’re like fairies
No matter, who you are, you won’t believe it
Time to run, time to run, time to run, time to run
Time to run, time to run, time to run, time to run
She’s is so lonely, yet she’s is so lovely
But she hates the Simpson’s, the Simon’s and even the great Clinton
And Amy and Katie maybe even Jamie
And Gracie and Tracey and anyone who’s not crazy
She’s just a lady, and little bit crazy
But she’s brainy, and I’m a bit lazy
She is crazy, she brainy, and little bit of hasty
No matter, what she does, she’s just another lady
She is crazy, she brainy, and little bit of hasty
No matter, what she does, she’s just another lady
Na Na (he ended it along with the music)
The crowd screamed in delight.
“This is not happening!” Sakshi kept saying to herself.
“What’s not happening?” Natasha asked when she noticed.
“I didn’t think he could sing like that I swear!” Sakshi said.
“Who?” Natasha asked.
“Him!” Natasha said pointing towards the lead singer.
The crowd began chanting “Once more, Once more!”
The guitarist came forward and took a second mike and told the crowd.
“Once more? No more!” the crowd booed him.
“Maybe another one instead?” he asked them and this sent the crowd into rapture.
“Okay people this song is dedicated to the girl that smelled like a cinnamon,” he said and the band started with a new beats.
Natasha realized who he meant in an instant how could she have forgotten so easily.
“I’m so stupid of course he was in a band,” Natasha thought.
“This is all my fault,” Sakshi said.
“My god! They are both singing for me now I wish I didn’t exist right about now!” Natasha thought guiltily.
“Ah fuck it all! I’m gonna kiss you after this you hear me?” Sakshi screamed at Mathew from below.
Natasha wasn’t so sure but it seemed he noticed Sakshi at that moment because he started at their direction just for a second before he turned to the crowd again.
“This song is called letting you go,” said the lead singer as the crowd broke into celebration.
I’m letting you go, on my own, now and forever
Good good bye
Good good bye
Good good bye
Good good bye
(The guitarist joined in with his rap)
[Yo! Hear me out now and keep your ears out
For this is a story, you never heard now
And I promise, you’ll hate it
So just listen, even if you don’t like it]
She was so beautiful, so innocent, smelled just like a cinnamon
Every time I looked at her is when every time I fell for her
I’m letting you go on my own, now and forever
I’m letting you go on my own, now and forever
Good good bye
Good good bye
Good good bye
Good good bye
[Call me an idiot, call me a fool, I deserve it for being uncool
But I’m helpless, cause I can’t help it
This is what you get, for being in love]
She was so gentle, like an angle, so simple, it’s painful
[She was so rich, she could have been a bitch]
Every time I watched at her is when every time my heart beat for her
I’m letting you go on my own, now and forever
I’m letting you go on my own, now and forever
Good good bye
Good good bye
Good good bye
Good good bye
[I am a killer, I am a sinner, I am a fighter, I am a hater
People like us go straight to hell, how can I ever take her there
I was an orphan, who sold morphine, she was a daughter, who spread laughter
As you can see, we don’t meet]
She was so strong and I was wrong
I thought she needed protection, but what she wanted was some affection
[How can I be so blind, even though I can see just fine]
Every time I dreamt of her is when every time I bled for her
I’m letting you go on my own, now and forever
I’m letting you go on my own, now and forever
Good good bye
Good good bye
Good good bye
Good good bye
<
br /> [I was so lonely, look closely
All she wanted was just a friend
So I had to, just pretend
But in my heart, I couldn’t contend]
I was too late, guess it’s my fate
[Sorry mate, but please don’t hate]
Don’t ever forget, that’s how we met
[Destiny is all we get]
Every time I thought of her is when every time I hated her
I’m letting you go on my own, now and forever
I’m letting you go on my own, now and forever
Good good bye
Good good bye
Good good bye
Good good bye
He then beat his chest and pointed towards Natasha and Sakshi and everyone nearby turned around to look at them. Natasha just froze there unable to think of anything. All she could hear was the rapturous crowd screaming.
The Hard Truth
It was Jan 2 2018 a new year! The college was technically empty the previous day, it was almost a ritual every year during the first day of the new year. Most students would be still snoring in their beds after a night of partying. So for most students Jan 1 did not exist. Natasha and Sakshi were walking to their class when they ran into Mathew and Salim.
“Good morning,” Natasha wished looking uneasy.
“Good morning,” Mathew said.
They just looked at one another after that without saying anything it was getting so awkward that Sakshi had to eventually break the silence herself.
“So who was that first song dedicated to? You said it was for a friend right?” Sakshi asked looking at Mathew.
But he just ignored her like she didn’t exist.
Salim answered instead “It was for you! I composed it”.
“Crap!” Sakshi thought.
“I have something to tell you—” Salim started.
“Opps! It’s getting late gotta run,” Sakshi said and burst into a sprint running away as fast as she could.
“Wait up,” Salim said as he chased after her.
“I liked your song,” Natasha commended him.
“Did you?” he asked her.
“Yes it really was good,” she insisted.
“Then why are you so tensed?” he asked her.
“Well you know—” she stopped half way.
“I’m sorry about that I shouldn’t have done that,” Mathew said.
“Well lets start fresh then okay?” she asked him.
“You still want to be my friend?” Mathew thought “Okay,” he answered.
Natasha then waved at him with a smile and walked away.
Natasha then found Sakshi hiding inside the toilet.
“Is he gone?” Sakshi asked Natasha.
“Who?” Natasha asked.
“Salim dammit! He was waiting outside since the last 15 minutes,” Sakshi said irritated.
“Didn’t find anyone standing when I came in,” Natasha informed her.
Sakshi then gave a huge sigh of relief “It so hard being so beautiful no?” Sakshi asked her.
“Seriously? With all the boys you keep chasing I’m surprised too see you running away when they come after you,” Natasha thought.
“What?!” Sakshi asked her.
“You really are strange you know that,” Natasha said.
“Well then in that case your creepy,” Sakshi said.
“I thought you liked boys,” Natasha said.
“I have my standards too you know, besides have you seen his teeth eww!” Sakshi made a face.
“Lets go we are getting late,” Natasha said.
Soon they were seated in the class when they noticed Sachin coming in. Some of the classmates began hooting so he raised his hands in response.
“Here comes your prince charming,” Sakshi said.
“Shut up,” Natasha said.
“So how did you like my song,” Sachin said placing his his right foot on the nearby seat and leaning towards her.
“Well…..it was nice,” Natasha said looking at her book which she had.
“It was for you,” he said still looking at her.
“I know,” she said still avoiding eye contact.
“She’s avoiding me again,” Sachin pointed out to Sakshi.
“I am surprised you noticed me,” Sakshi said.
“What’s all this now?” Sachin asked them.
“Alright Sachin back to your seat,” it was the professor who walked in.
“Sir I was—” Sachin started.
“Take your flirting somewhere else lover boy, one song doesn’t make you a hero so back to your seat,” the professor interrupted him as the students giggled.
“And where were you?” he asked Mathew as he tried to creep in from the other door.
“Sorry sir I was at the—” Mathew tried to think of an excuse.
“Find a seat!” the professor cut him off he had no patience for an answer.
Mathew took a seat a few seats to Natasha’s right but didn’t sit anywhere near her.
“What’s with all this on off relationship your having with him hmm?” Sakshi whispered in her ear.
“None of your business,” Natasha whispered back.
She looked at Mathew who was sitting a few seats away to her right.
“You kept singing of letting me go but did you really let go of me?” Natasha thought to herself.
She felt sorry for him at the same time she felt bad that she couldn’t do anything about it.
“Maybe I can ask Sakshi and set up a date for him maybe? Yep he’s been lonely for too long anyway,” she thought.
Little did she realize that as she kept staring at Mathew in deep thought Mathew noticed her he was looking at her with an eyebrow raised. He gave her a smile which got Natasha back into the real world.
“Oh no! Stupid stupid!” she said to herself as she quickly turned and pretended to read her book.
“Is he still looking?” she turned to take a peek.
And he was still looking at her with a hand below his chin and smiling.
She turned back red faced. “Ah you idiot I’m busted!” she thought.
“Just pretended nothing happened and don’t look,” she said to herself.
But she had to take one last peek. This time Mathew was sleeping facing her with his eyes closed.
“Maybe I was dreaming!” she thought in relief.
Suddenly Mathew opened his eyes and gave her a creepy smile.
Natasha squeaked in shock. And everyone starred at her.
“Are you alright?” The professor asked.
“No I’m okay I just—” she looked at everyone as they starred at her.
“It was just an insect,” she said with a small voice.
And the class burst into laughter. The professor even dropped his book as he laughed.
“Not again!” Natasha thought as she hid her face behind the book in embarrassment.
“Unbelievable! At this rate you’ll become the butt of everybody’s jokes,” Sakshi shouted at her in the cafeteria.
“Can I join you?” a girl asked Natasha.
“Get lost we are busy here! Shoo shoo!” Sakshi waved her off as if she was a stray dog looking for food.
Natasha turned to look at her and noticed she was pretty.
“She’ll do,” Natasha thought. “Don’t mind her come have a seat,” she said.
“Your being awfully friendly,” Sakshi said.
“Common now! What your name?” Natasha asked her.
“Divya,” she said with a shy smile.
“Nice to meet you Divya,” Natasha gave her a hand shake.
“Did you come to the new year festival,” she asked her.
“Yep! It was awesome,” she said with a bright smile.
“Especially those guys with masks!” Natasha said.
“Ya! They totally rocked I wish they didn’t wear masks though,” Divya said.
“Yea they were so handsome, why did they have to cover their faces?
Silly boys,” Natasha said.
“Handsome? Wait do you know them?” Divya asked suddenly.
“Well…..ya we are all good pals, especially the lead singer you know the one with the red mask,” Natasha said.
She was trying to steer the conversation in a particular direction and Sakshi noticed that.
“Okay what did you do Natasha?” Sakshi asked her.
“What?” Natasha asked back.
“Wait a minute! You did it didn’t you? How many times?!” Sakshi roared.
“It was just just once okay and he started it!” Natasha blabbered.
“Okay and what did you two do again?” Sakshi asked smiling.
“Ah! She tricked me again,” Natasha thought with regret.
“Well we kind of—” Natasha pouted her lips to show what she wanted to tell.
“What!” Sakshi stood up knocking off her snacks on some girls clothes nearby.
“Hey! Bitch watch it!” a girl screamed angrily.
Sakshi simply punched her in the face and broke her lips making her wail.
“I knew it! I knew it! I warned you didn’t I?!” Sakshi pointed her finger at Natasha accusingly.
Amid the screams Sakshi then declared she would personally douse Mathew with boiling oil.
But all Natasha could hear was “It was his fault,” and she wondered “Was it really his fault?”
“Maybe he just needs a girlfriend!” Natasha informed Sakshi.
“You really think its that simple,” Sakshi asked her.
“I just want us to be friends again,” Natasha said.
“Do you?” Sakshi asked her.
“What do you mean?” she asked her.
“Do you really want to be just his friend?” Sakshi asked her.
Natasha didn’t answer.
“You two have grown too cosy in each others company to be just friends,” Sakshi continued.
“But what would Sachin think then?” Natasha asked.
“Why don’t you address him as my boyfriend? See you still don’t have much of a feeling towards him you are more worried about Mathew most of the time,” Sakshi pointed out.
“Well—” Natasha started.
“Besides your dad kind of knows his dad, you see he made sure he is getting transferred you won’t be seeing him anytime soon,” Sakshi said.
