‘You were about to kiss.’ He glowered at us.
‘Have you been out all night?’ Andreas took him in.
‘Yeah, so?’ He looked into Andreas’s bowl of oatmeal and grimaced. ‘Do you want a recap of my night and morning?’
‘No, thanks.’ Andreas turned back to me. ‘I can guess what you’ve been doing.’
I couldn’t. What had Ben been doing all night?
‘He’s been at Tarjei’s,’ Andreas told me in a low voice. ‘Getting laid.’
Oh. Right. I should’ve guessed.
‘Bingo.’ Ben ran his hands over his face, rubbing at his eyes. ‘You know me so well.’
‘What about Nik?’ I asked, looking at him curiously. ‘Isn’t he home on holiday?’ I’d thought his sex-relationship with Nik’s brother was top secret.
‘Nik buggered off with someone else.’ Ben shrugged as if it didn’t matter. I could tell it did. I’d gotten to know him a lot in the past month and a half.
‘You should forget about Nik,’ Andreas told him.
‘As if it’s that easy,’ Ben spat, glowering again. ‘Don’t you think I would if I could?’
Andreas glanced at me and I bowed my head. Ben was right. It wasn’t easy forgetting someone you were hung up about.
‘What?’ Ben looked between us. ‘What’s wrong? Do you know something?’
‘Nothing pertaining to you,’ Andreas said in a light voice.
‘Don’t tell me you two have problems.’ He was still frowning at us. ‘You two have been all sunshine and rainbows since that first night you shagged him.’
Sunshine and rainbows?
That was not how I would describe us at all.
Maybe Andreas, but not me. I was neither sunny nor colourful. I was the opposite, all bleak and faded.
What anyone saw in me, I didn’t know.
‘We’re all good, Ben.’
I gazed at him. He was a wonderful guy. I should put all my emotion into him, not dwell on something that had happened seven months ago and only lasted for two weeks.
Not that me dwelling on that seemed to bother him at all.
He was too understanding.
No one could be that understanding, right?
It was certainly hard to believe it was possible. Yet he seemed entirely genuine. Either he was a very good liar… or he was speaking the truth.
No matter what, it didn’t matter. Glenn was in the hospital and he likely wouldn’t be out anytime soon. By the time he was back, I might’ve gotten over my conflicting emotions. And he wasn’t about to come out for me anyway, so what was the point even thinking about it?
There was no point.
None whatsoever.
Andreas was my guy. The guy I liked. The guy I might be in love with. I was happy with him.
Happiness was a strange feeling to have. It was mixed with all kinds of other emotions, of course, because my brain could never be straightforward. But it was there, and it was good, and it was all thanks to him.
A note from the author
The characters of this book might sound familiar to you, but the title and series name, along with a slightly different pen-name does not. Don’t worry, you’re not going mad and I’m not a plagiarist.
About the pen name; I’ve decided to start using my first name. I still go by initials too, like in my social media URLs, but this will make it easier for people to address me. Initials have been a pain in my arse for a time and that time is over now.
As for the book, I have taken it upon myself to rewrite all my books. I wasn’t happy with the old ones and I wanted to write more about all my beloved characters. But who can write more in a series they’re not happy with, right?
So here’s the new and improved version of More than Words. It started out as me just adding a second point of view, but then it took on a life of its own. Some of the old scenes are still in here, all rewritten to a certain degree, but most of this book is new content.
Oh, and that second point of view is nowhere to be seen. This book is completely from Alex’s point of view. I do best when I deep-dive into one person.
But the good news? I have a lot of words in Andreas’s point of view and they are being posted over on my Patreon for those interested in seeing his side of things!
So basically, this is a brand new book.
If you read the old series, forget everything you remember and dive into the 2.0 version. I promise this is lots better.
