“Dillon, go pack an overnight bag,” I ordered.

“Ok.” He turned on his heels disappearing from the room.

I sat at Draper Lake later Friday night after meeting with Francine and Dillon. I was trying to wrap my mind around this life altering change that was about to occur.

I planned to marry Nadine and impregnate her with all of my seeds. I wish Nadine could disappear with me. Unfortunately, that cannot happen. The last thing I want to do is halt her dreams of becoming a doctor. I won’t do that to her. I have to live with this decision to protect Dillon and lose my woman. Going one week without seeing Nadine is hard enough, but now we are talking about a lifetime of never touching her curves, kissing those sweet lips, or staring into those beautiful eyes. How will I survive? I doubt I can.

Nadine was out shopping. I asked her to meet me at the house.

I paced the floor trying to find the right words to explain what was about to happen.

Nadine entered the kitchen through the garage loaded down with bags. I ran into the kitchen grabbing the bags from her hands. “Nadine, I’ve told you several times to leave the bags in the car. I would get them for you.”

“I forgot, sorry,” she huffed, slipping out of her coat.

I draped her coat over the back of the chair. “Come here.” I intertwined our fingers leading her to the sofa.

The lights upstairs cascaded downstairs reflecting against her beautiful dark brown skin. I will miss the smell of her mango scented silky black hair.

Holding her hands, I stared at the floor.

“Tony, talk to me. You are scaring me.”

“Fran, called me tonight.” I exhaled. “Dillon witnessed Uncle Mick’s murder.”

She snatched her hands away, placing them over her mouth. Tears seeped from her dark eyes. She wrapped her arms around my neck. “I’m so sorry, Tony. Who are we taking out?”

“Baby, I need you to listen to the rest of the story.” I placed her hands in her lap. The padding of my large thumb swiped away her tears.

I explained more in depth what Dillon witnessed and how.

“Dillon was outside the building waiting inside Mick’s car. Mick ran into the club. Dillon hopped out to take a piss on the side of the large garbage can. He heard the shot. Filippo rushed out checking the car. He thought Mick was alone. Leech rushed out after him asking what needed to be done. Filippo ordered Leech to dump Mick at Draper Lake.” I ran my fingers through my hair. I could barely look into her eyes, knowing in my heart what was to come.

“Dillon took off running. Filippo yelled out to Dillon, demanding he stop. Dillon shot in their direction, hitting Leech. Filippo shot back missing.”

Her eyes widened. “Is Dillon ok?”

“Yes, he wasn’t hurt. Sergio is out of town on business. If Sergio finds out Filippo killed his brother, the long-standing hands-off truce will end. There would be a war. Everyone would have to go to the safe houses until the war is over.”

Her eyebrows wrinkled. “What do you mean, it would be a war? You mean there will be a war?”

“No, Nadine. There won’t be a war. The last war happened when my father was killed. Innocent women and children died. We can’t have that happen again.” I dropped my head.

“Fran asked me to take Dillon away. I would have to fake our deaths.”

“Why would she ask you to do that, Tony?!”

“Nadine, before I met you I confided in Fran admitting I wanted out of the mafia. She remembered I wanted a way out.”

Abruptly, Nadine left my side on the couch fleeing to the large window. She wrapped her arms around herself, crying.

“She knows we are together now. I attend dinners with you. I’m your fucking woman!” she roared.

“Yes, you are, Nadine. There is no mistaking that.”

Stepping behind her, I turned her around, pulling her into my arms. I couldn’t look at her soaked face. She sobbed against my massive chest. A single tear rolled down my face, landing in her silky black hair. Leaving Nadine will be the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life.

“If I didn’t have to protect Dillon, I would never leave you.”

  “I can come with you.”

I smiled. “I would love that. But I can’t let you give up your dream of becoming doctor. You know I can’t Nadine.” I paused. “I need your help.”

“Tony, you ripped my heart out of my chest. What else could you need?”

My head dropped against hers. “I need two stiffs from the morgue for me and Dillon. I’m going to place the bodies inside my mustang and push the car over a cliff. The car will explode and Dillon and I…will be no more.”

Her head dropped against my chest again. Her body quaked in my arms. Slowly, Nadine glanced up at me nodding her head. She slammed her lips into mine. Scooping her up into my arms, I carried her upstairs to my bed. My hands swept her purple blouse over her head the moment I laid her down. Our lips devoured each other’s at every possible opportunity.

“I don’t want you to leave Tony. I feel like my chest is going to explode. I don’t know how to be without you.” Her fingers grazed through my short brown hair.

“Nadine, I don’t want to leave you. You will forever be in my heart. I promise, baby.”

Her fingers swept under my t-shirt. Nadine’s tongue circled my nipples. She pushed my shirt over my head. Our eyes met again. Sliding her bra over her breast, my mouth hungrily took her breast into my mouth.

“Fuck, I don’t want to leave you.”

Our fingers met at the waist band of her skirt. We slipped it down her beautiful brown legs together. Spreading her legs, my teeth clenched her pussy through her powder blue panties.

  “Fuck!” Nadine screamed.

Standing to my feet, I snatched her panties off swiftly, dropping them to the floor. Unbuttoning my jeans, my boxers and jeans fell to the floor.

Nadine removed her powder blue bra while she watched me completely undress.

  “You know what to do.”

Her legs fell open. I licked my lips, right before climbing on the bed, planting my tongue into her tight hole.

I watched as her dark oval eyes closed. My greedy fingers trailed up her flat stomach, capturing her breasts with my beast sized hands.

“Tony it feels so good,” she cried. Her petite hands latched onto my large forearms.

“Make me cum Tony. Make me cum all night.”

“You know I will, Kitten.” My tongue slipped through her folds stopping at her clit. I sucked her clit. She couldn’t stop moaning. I fucking loved to hear her moan.

  “Music to daddy’s ears, baby.”

Nadine’s fingers gripped my hair. “Lick my clit Tony. Please!”

My tongue slipped around her wet clit with ease until she was cumming in my mouth. Nadine pulled me over her. Shoving her tongue into my mouth, she pushed her pussy onto my dick. Briefly, my lips parted as I slid deep inside her potent pussy.

“Shit, I’m going to miss this pussy.”

My fucking toes curled. I was having second thoughts about leaving. Holding her tight, I laid her against the headboard. Leaning back on my knees still inside her, both of my hands wrapped around her neck. I stroked her pussy from side to side as she held onto my forearms. Never taking her eyes off mine she slowed my rhythm by circling her hips. Nadine’s eyes closed a bit. “Tony, I’m cumming! I’m cumming.”

“Baby, look at me.” Her eyes popped open. My pace increased. My hands tightened around her neck. Nadine watched me relentlessly slam into her pussy. I released her neck, one hand slipped around her waist, the other gripped the headboard.

“Fuck!” I yelled through gritted teeth as I exploded deep inside her tight walls. My chest heaved in and out while beads of sweat poured down my face. Nadine’s delicate hands swiped the sweat away before my head fell against hers as I slid out of her pussy.

Nadine slipped out of bed, disappearing into the bathroom, returning a short time later with a towel. She wiped my body down u
ntil I was free of sweat. Tossing the towel onto the chair in the corner, she hopped back into bed, resting her head on my shoulder. Her soft hand caressed my cheek as I held her in my arms never wanting to let her go. How will I survive without Nadine?

“You never have to say the words verbally, but your eyes give you away every time. It’s ok Tony...” She pulled back staring into my blue eyes.

“…I love you too. I can’t see loving another man. You were supposed to become my husband one day,” she cried.

“What am I supposed to do now? We are soul mates, Tony.”

I gripped her head. “Don’t you ever think for one moment, this is a cake walk for me. This will be harder for me. You are the only woman I ever…” tears slid down my cheeks. “Fuck, Nadine, this is going to kill me.”

“Tony, baby please send me a post card, so at least I know you are safe.”

I kissed her forehead. “Of course.”

“Remember, the safe under the living room floor is only to be opened if you run out of the money in my other hiding places. Baby, I promise you will be set for life. I know you don’t want to hear this but, I will make sure Fran checks on you.”

  Nadine sucked her teeth.

I gripped her face, forcing her eyes on mine. “If it was your child, wouldn’t you want to know he is safe?”

  She rolled her eyes. “Yes.”

“One day you will have to move on. You know I don’t want another man touching my Kitten.” I swallowed the tears. “But you have to move on…ok?”

“Tony, I can’t think about ever being with another man.”

Nadine laid against my muscled frame crying, caressing my face until we fell asleep.

  CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

  TONY

Saturday morning, Nadine and I drove to the morgue.

We searched the overflow room for two John Does matching me and Dillon’s description.

We reminisced about our two-year relationship, while removing the teeth from the dead bodies. She and I tried acting as normal as possible. Cruz couldn’t know what was about to happen nor could Gio. Later that afternoon, we sat in my truck at Draper Lake, staring at the frozen water. Soft ballads played on the radio. Nadine sat nuzzled in my lap, kissing my neck.

  “Italy was fun wasn’t it?”

She glanced at me smiling, returning her lips tenderly against my neck. “It was the best trip. We always had fun together, Tony.”

“We sure did, baby.” I exhaled.

“We need to get back to the house and get the plan in motion.”

She nodded, then slide over to the passenger seat. Nadine caressed my arm and stared at me the entire way home.

Later that night, I picked up Dillon from his Aunt Ava’s house in Philly. Driving back toward New Jersey there is a steep embankment on the side of the road. The road was closed in that area. Construction workers are widening the road and building a guard rail. Because of the weather, there are closed signs posted. I paid a friend who works at the construction site for that tidbit of information.

The snow was really coming down Saturday night. I drove carefully, I didn’t want us to actually get into a car accident.

We arrived at the construction area around 8 p.m. Dillon was quiet the entire ride.

I turned to Dillon. “Listen, what you and I are about to do is hard work. I need you to get your shit together. Help me load these two dead bodies into the car.”

Dillon never looked at me. “All right,” he replied.

He climbed out of the car, placing his hood over his head.

The road was dark. We walked over to the truck hidden in the bushes. All the items we needed for a new life were already in the truck. We left Dillon’s overnight bag in the car purposely. Not that it will ever be recovered.

Dillon and I carried each body slowly to my mustang, placing one body behind the steering wheel and the other in the passenger seat. I released the brake and placed the car in neutral.

Dillon and I stood behind the car momentarily.

“This is it Dillon. There’s no turning back.”

“Yeah, I got it!” he snapped.

I didn’t take his attitude personally. This kid was losing his whole life in one night.

I placed my hand on his shoulder. “Come on, let’s push the car toward the edge.”

Dillon placed his hands on the trunk of the car ready to push.

I opened the driver side door, keeping the steering wheel steady.

  “Ok, Dillon, push!”

It was slippery as shit the closer I moved to the edge. I slipped, falling against the ground right before the car went over the embankment. Dillon ran to my aid, helping me up. Holding the remote to the explosives in my hand, he and I stood close to the edge watching as the car crashed. The car exploded on impact. To ensure not one fragment of a body would be found, I pressed the bomb’s trigger, the car exploded again. Dillon and I were sent flying to the ground due to the large explosion. We gawked over the edge again, watching the car burn.

“Dillon, grab the push broom from the back seat.”

He retrieved the broom. I used the back of the push broom to erase our shoe tracks. He and I were wearing powder blue carpet booties over our boots, so no one would be able to detect a possible foot print. Those fucking booties caused me to slip in the first place.

I slid the rectangular broom backward until he and I were standing on the road. Luckily, the snow was coming down rapidly. The snow would cover our tracks, anyway. Dillon and I walked back over to the truck, then drove off.

We laid low for two weeks then contacted the couple Francine asked to take in Dillon in Portland, Oregon.

Dillon and I had new identities. I am Tony DeRosa and Dillon is now Jeffrey Westbrook.

Dillon and I stepped into the couple’s home. They live about ten minutes away from the liquor store they own. Their house looks like one of those houses in the Good Housekeeping Magazines. Don’t judge, my mother kept those things lying around the house all the fucking time.

I extended my hand. “Hello, my name is Tony DeRosa.”

“My name is Bob, and this is my wife Ursula Newton,” they shook my hand, respectively.

“I’m going to take a look around before leaving my cousin, Jeff, with you.”

  “Of course,” Ursula stated.

I glanced over at Dillon. “Take a load off.”

  He sat on the couch.

After walking around the couple’s home rummaging through their personal belongings, I returned to the living room.

“You both have a lovely home. Looks like Jeff is in good hands,” I smirked.

“Can I talk to you both for a moment?”

  “Sure,” they responded.

Dillon’s eyes were glued to the tv set.

We stood in their kitchen. “Listen, Jeff is my only family. My Aunt is leaving him in your capable hands. I trust that neither of you would put Jeff in harm’s way. I want you to know I won’t be far away. When Jeff leaves for school in the mornings and if for some reason…” I stated extending my finger in their direction.

“…I sense something isn’t right with him. I will be standing over your bed in the middle of the night. And trust me when I say I’m the last person you want standing over you in the middle of the night. Do I make myself clear?”

Their faces turned pale and eyes bulked out of their heads.

  “We understand!” Bob assured.

I slammed my hand on Bob’s shoulder, holding a wide grin across my face.

“I’ll get out of your hair.”

I stepped over to Dillon, taking a seat on the sofa next to him. I leaned into his ear.

“If you need me for anything call my cell phone anytime day or night. I will be here.” I gripped his shoulder.

  “Got it?”

  He smiled.

  “Alright.”

Leaving Dillon was hard. He was just a boy. I had to believe all we’ve taught him over the years would help
him hold his own. I didn’t leave him empty-handed. He has a Glock. If anyone learns, we aren’t dead and comes after him, he’s calling me immediately. First and foremost, he is to defend himself. If anyone comes for me, they will be killed instantly. Dillon and I needed to remain dead.

Sitting in a motel room alone for the first time in two weeks. I could mourn the loss of the love of my life, Nadine. While Dillon and I was together, I had to remain strong, upbeat. We both walked away from our lives. Starting over will be hard. Retrieving a picture from my wallet, I stared at Nadine and I. Gripping the whiskey bottle tight; I poured the harsh contents down my throat. I wanted my woman. I needed to touch her face, feel her curves under my palms, taste her sweet pussy. That shit is over. I stood pacing the dark, dingy, motel room slowly losing my mind. Knowing I can never hold her again, crushed my fucking cold-blooded heart. My heart will never beat for another woman as long as I live. “Fuck, happiness!” I roared, dropping to my knees.

I wish I never met her, then my heart wouldn’t hurt like this. Tears drenched my face. I was no good for anyone at that moment.

She was supposed to become my wife, bore my children. Now none of that will come to pass. How do I go on? I want to lay here and die. Fuck life! First, I lost my dad. Then my mother and siblings left. Now, I had to give up the only family I had left. I’m just supposed to move on. Live life like Nadine and I never existed as one.

I’m some fucking retired hit man. The only thing I have left in this life to keep me going is watching out for my cousin Dillon. Make sure he is never found, and no harm comes to him. The last ounce of will power in me revolves around keeping him safe.

Honestly, if it wasn’t for him. I’d die from cirrhosis of the liver. Holding the bottle against my chest, with only a swallow left, I closed my eyes and imagined I was holding Nadine. Somehow the memories of us will have to help me make it through. Staring at the picture, I kissed her pretty face. “Baby, help me make it. You have to help me make it. I’m lost without you.” I talked to the picture like she was sitting in the room with me.
