Falling Hard for the Boss Page 4

by Kelly Moore

I fold my arms around his neck. “Well, hello to you too.” I kiss him softly.

“We better stop or we won’t get out of here.” He pulls away, taking my hand in his.

“I don’t know what we are doing… Is this okay to wear?” I have on skinny jeans and a strappy, deep purple top.

  “It’s perfect. Now come on.”

He opens the door of his silvery blue Porsche Carrera convertible. “Oh, my God. This is my dream car.” I slide in and start touching everything. I’ve always dreamt of getting one exactly like this.

“You like?” he asks, sliding into the driver’s seat. He pushes a button and a compartment unfolds. He takes out his silver Ray-Bans and slides them on his face.

“Can I drive it?” I smile and bat my eyes.

“Uh, no.” He throws it in gear and the tires spin as he speeds out into the street.

I pout, but quickly blow it off. Who could blame him? If it were mine, I wouldn’t let him drive it either. I dig my sunglasses and a hair tie out of my purse. Despite the wind, I manage to wrangle my hair on top of my head.

He reaches over and turns on the radio and I’m shocked that he likes reggae music. “Is that Stick Figure?” I laugh, not picturing him liking that kind of music.

His head bebops to the music. “They’re one of my favorites.” He turns it up louder and starts singing the words to Smokin’ Love.

I can’t help but giggle at his playfulness. I like this side of him, it’s much less intense. We drive through the night, singing over the sound of the wind, until we get to the shoreline of Rockport. I love this little city and its harbors. He parks in front of the Roy Moore Lobster Company.

“Stay put,” he says, getting out of the car. He walks around to my side and opens the door. His hand finds its way around my waist, tucking me into his side. The façade of the restaurant is decorated with old grey cedar shake shingles and a massive red wooden lobster serves as the door handle. Everything about it embodies the perfect sea-town dive. There is a counter for placing orders, but the seating is all out on the deck overlooking the blue waters of the Atlantic. Boats are moored up along its deck, and the small, bobbing outlines of shrimp boats pepper the horizon.

He slides a chair out for me. “Have you eaten here before?”

“No, but it looks fantastic,” I say scooting my chair on the deck.

“It’s my favorite place. My dad used to bring me here after we would go fishing.” He sits in the chair beside me and places his hand on my thigh.

I like that he has to be touching me. “Are you from here?”

“See that little blue house on that hill?” He points to a hill on the other side of bridge. “That is where I grew up.”

“Do your parents still live there?”

“They do, but they are never there anymore. They spend all their time traveling. My dad was a fisherman. He worked like a dog his entire life. All he ever wanted was to show my mother the world. So, when I made my first million, I sent them on their way.”

“You are a sweet guy under that tough exterior of yours.” I put my fingers under the dimple of his chin.

“Don’t go telling anyone that. My parents sacrificed a lot for me. It was the least I could do for them.”

  “Do you have any siblings?”

  “One sister.”

  “I’m an only child.”

He stands. “Is it okay if I order for you? You do like lobster, right?”

“Yes, I do.” I watch him as he walks to the counter. More importantly, I watch the looks he draws to him from people around the room – women lose track of their conversations to follow him with their eyes, cheeks blushing red, while looks of envy steal over the faces of their dates. I have that same reaction. He’s really quite handsome. The way his body moves is even sexy. He grins when he catches me gawking at him.

He returns to the table with two bottles of Coors Light. “I hope you like beer.”

“I love beer. Jewels always makes fun of me because I prefer it over her fancy drinks.” I take a sip. “This place is awesome. Thank you for bringing me here.”

“You’re welcome. You need to fill up on food before I take you on our adventure.”

  “There’s more?”

“Yep.” He grins like a small boy with a secret.

A man in a white apron delivers a feast to our table. “Did you order enough food for everyone here?” I ask.

“Trust me, you will want to eat all of it.” He tucks the plastic white bib in the neck of his shirt. I do the same.

Over the next hour, we each eat our weight in food. My pants have grown tighter with every morsel of food I have shoved in my mouth. We’ve laughed and carried on casual conversations. He seems so normal and happy. I’ve learned that he was engaged once in his early twenties, but the girl cheated on him with his best friend. He’s never even come close to a serious relationship since then. He’s eight years older than me at thirty-two. He said he made his first million by my age. He started a software company in his parent’s garage and sold it to Microsoft. After that he built the company I’m working for now.

“Are you ready for the rest of our date?” He wipes his mouth.

“Are you going to give me any hints?”

“Nope, but you will need to change clothes.”

I frown. “But, I didn’t bring any clothes.

“I know.” he says, wearing a ridiculously cute smile.

He takes my hand and drags me into a small seaside shop. “Here, this will work.”

He hands me a skimpy teal-colored bikini that has tiny wooden beads holding the sides of the bottoms together. “You expect me to get into a bathing suit?” I push it back at him, laughing.

His look is dead serious. “Yes.”

I mumble not-so-nice words under my breath as I look for my size. He grins the whole time he’s at the counter paying for it. “There is a bathroom right outside you can change in.” He hands me the bag.

“What about you?” I point at his jeans.

“I already have mine on.” He tugs down the front of his jeans to show me his board shorts. I roll my eyes and head to the restroom.

I slip out of my clothes and into the way-too-tiny bathing suit. My girls are hanging out, and I can feel myself blushing from self-consciousness. The triangle top barely covers my nipples. I put my clothes back on over it and meet him back by his car. My mouth drops to the ground when I see his hunky body in his board shorts. He has the sexiest v-shaped abs with veins protruding low on his waistline.

“You have to lose the clothes,” he says.

I timidly pull off my jeans and he whistles. My face feels like it’s beet red. My fingers play with the hem of my shirt.

“Come on. Don’t be shy. You have a smoking hot body.” His amber eyes are boring into me, making me feel warm all over.

I remove my shirt, then cover my body with my arms in front of me. He strides in my direction and pulls my arms to my side. “You look hot.”

  “Was this really necessary?”

“No, but I got to check you out in a bikini.” He roars out laughing.

“I am so going to shoot your ass next time.”

“I’m just kidding. You will have fun, I promise.” He intertwines his fingers in mine and we head to water. A little shack by the water’s edge is renting equipment. Connor releases my hand and shakes the guy’s hand working inside. It’s a small place, so I wait outside for him. A few minutes later, he comes out with two jetpacks.

He hands me one and smiles. “This is going to be so much fun. Jewels and I were down by the water the other day watching someone do this,” I say as I start strapping it on.

“It wasn’t Sunday by chance?” he asks, putting his on.

  “That was you?”

“Yep, I go just about every Sunday.”

“I thought you were going to drown,” I snort.

“Me too, a few times.” He goes over the basics with me and we head out to the water. It takes
some time, but I finally get the hang of it. We are able to hang above the water without getting tangled into one another. I’m having so much fun, I forget about how cold the water feels and the fact that I’m half naked.

Our time is up and we head to shore. Standing out in the wind, I have goosebumps on my goosebumps. He pops the trunk of his car and throws a towel in my direction. I quickly dry my tangles and wrap it around me.

“Do you think you could wait to change clothes?” He has a diabolic look on his face.

I smile, feeling very entertained by his look. “Okay,” I pull the towel tight around me and tuck it under so I don’t get his seat wet. I can’t help but reach out and toy with his black curls around his neck. His hair is always neat and professional looking. I like this look on him. He takes off and sends gravel flying through the air behind us. He turns the music back on as we ride along the shoreline. His thigh muscle contracts as he shifts gears and my fingers are itching to touch it.

Without thinking twice, I rub my hand down his leg. His eyes shift to mine briefly and he grins. He drives down an old wooden pier that used to be part of a bridge. They left it up so the people in the town could fish off it. Some people even camp out here in their trucks.

He pulls up to the very edge and puts the car in park, pushing the button to bring the automatic top up. Once it’s locked in place, he gets out of the car, walks over to my side, and opens the door. He holds his hand out and I gladly take it. I step out and he surprises me by getting right back in, pulling me back inside onto his lap. I laugh at him, trying to pull my long legs inside to shut the door. As I’m balled up on top of him giggling his hand slips in my bikini top. All laughing stops. The warmth of his hand shoots straight through my body, creating an instant need for him.

“You know there are people out here?”

“My windows are tinted, they can’t see us.” His mouth trails along my neck. “You need to turn around and face the front window.”

I do as he says, bumping my head a few times in the process. He slides the seat back as far as he can and I straddle his legs, my back to his front. His hands start pushing the thin material of my suit out of the way until he has his fingers buried deep inside me doing unspeakable things to my insides.

“You are so fucking hot.” He bites at my shoulder. “Play with your nipples for me.” I move my hand inside my cup and rub. “Do it like I would,” he says.

I toy with my nipple, rolling it between my fingers then pinching it lightly. Between the movement of his fingers and what I’m doing, I can already feel myself starting to build. “I want you inside me.”

He withdraws his fingers. “Lean up,” he orders. I move forward, raising my hips off him. I hear the Velcro of his shorts come undone and he lifts himself free of them. I lean back to feel his hard length against me and he hisses. “Don’t move.”

I love that he is already on the verge with me. The adrenaline pumping through both of us is hard to control. “Okay, now raise your ass up.”

I brace one hand on the door handle and one of the gear shift, lifting up. My head hits the cloth roof. “A little more,” he grits out.

I do as he says, then I feel his wide cock slide inside me. I sit back on him and feel like I’m bursting at the seams with his fullness. He is so deep, I’m almost afraid to move. He leans forward and kisses me between the shoulder blades.

“One day, I’m going to have my cock buried in your fine ass,” he says, and I pant thinking about it. “You’re going to have to ride me in this position.”

There is not a lot of room. His hands go to my hips and mine go on his knees. He pushes up and I slide back down. The entire car is moving and the windows are fogging up. With every downward movement my body opens for him and he pushes in deeper, hitting a spot that has me frantically on edge. I’m gasping and I can hear his teeth gritting together every time I move down on him.

“Say my name, baby,” he rasps.

  “Connor.”

  “Again.”

“Connor!” He feels me come undone and holds me tight against his lap.

“Reese!” he yells my name and explodes inside me.

  Chapter 7

We’ve been meeting every night after work for the last two weeks. He’s so insatiable, my body aches. My need for caffeine has grown from staying up and making love until the wee hours of the morning. I’m barely human when I go to work. His ass lays in bed instead of getting up and going into work, but I guess that is a benefit of owning the company.

I’ve come in extra early to meet with Mark to make some suggestions on different firewalls for a couple areas of our systems that need to be updated. It’s a constant process with hackers’ constantly learning new ways to infiltrate company records.

He is already in the conference room when I walk in. “I hope you like coffee,” I say, placing a Box O Joe on the table. I pour us both a cup and we start working right away.

“This is great. I’ll have these programmed into our system today. I’m really glad you joined our team, you’re such a good asset,” he says.

“Thank you. I really like working here. I’ve been meaning to ask you about this file in the computer.” I point to it on our list.

“Huh, I’ve never seen it before. It doesn’t look like a hack.” His brows are scrunched together.

“No, but it’s odd and the code repeats itself several times, but it looks like it’s sending information out. I haven’t been able to track it any further.”

“Do you want me to put a team on it?”

“No, I think I will let Mr. Blaze look at it.” I have to force myself not to call him Connor at work. “I know we have a meeting here with him today, I’ll bring it up then.”

We finish our work by lunch time and I run out to get a sandwich. Mid-text to Connor, I look up and see him entering the Kid Power building again. It’s an old six-story brick building with a single window at the very top. I’m tempted to follow him in, but if I do, I’ll be late getting back.

Are you going to make the meeting? I text him.

A few minutes later I get a reply. I’ll be there in a few.

I pick up my lunch and take it back to the conference room where eight other employees have already gathered. I take a seat at the end in the back and I quickly inhale my sandwich before the meeting starts.

Thirty minutes later, Connor joins us. He’s changed clothes from when I saw him going into Kid Power. He had on shorts, now his decked out in a suit and tie.

Mark finishes his part of the meeting and Connor stands to address us. I see a twinge of a smile of the edge of his lips. He rubs the palm of his hand across the table and I know exactly what he is thinking. I squeeze my thighs together to not let him get to me.

He talks about what is up and coming for the company, and the great job we have all been doing.

“Does anyone have anything to add or any questions?” he says.

“I do.” His eyes lock on mine. “I’m having an issue with one of the codes, edajsevivrus.”

He stands up straight and pulls at his tie. “That code is a non-issue,” he states flatly.

  “But…”

His piercing glare cuts me off. “Non-issue, Ms. Beckham.” He dances around anymore questions and finishes up the meeting, briskly walking out and heading straight for his office.

I sit down at my desk and my phone beeps. “May I help you?” I say, pressing the speaker button.

“Come to my office, please.” It’s Connor’s voice.

“I’ll be right there.” This situation is giving off an odd vibe. He has never called me into his office.

I knock lightly on the door. “Come in, Reese.”

He doesn’t look at me when I walk in, but points to the chair in front of his massive desk. I sit down, crossing my legs and tugging my skirt over my knees. “Are you angry at me about something?” I ask.

His eyes finally meet mine. “No, not angry.” He inhales deeply. “I need you to forget you ever
found that code. I admit, you have to be damn good at your job to have ever found it in the first place.” He clasps his hands together on his desk.

“What is the file attached to the code?” I’m very curious.

“That is none of your business.” He leans back, his stare still on me.

  “It’s your file isn’t it?” I don’t back down.

  “Again, none of your business.”

  “Are you doing something illegal?”

He sighs. “You need to forget you even found it.”

He’s not going to budge, which makes me want to know more about it. Obviously he’s hiding something that he doesn’t want me caught up in, which means it’s probably illegal. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I’ve really fallen for him quickly and I thought I was getting to know the man under the suit. I stand. “Whatever you say, boss man.” I turn on my heels to leave his office.

“Reese, don’t let this be a thing between us. It has nothing to do with you and me.” His voice has lost its intensity. I don’t want it to come between us. It’s hard to separate my work from personal relationship with him. “How about you and Jewels come over to my place for dinner tonight? I’ll have some steaks delivered.”

I smile back my concern. “Okay, I’ll call Jewels and let her know.”

Connor leaves shortly after I settle back into my office. He smiles at me as he walks by my window, but doesn’t stop.

I pull out my cell phone and call Jewels. I don’t tell her about my meeting with Connor, but invite her to join us tonight. She is all too happy to accept – she’s been dying to get to hang out with him. Jewels is sweet, but very protective. Having a one-night stand is one thing, but a full-blown relationship is another thing entirely for her.

“This place rocks!” Jewels says, putting down her purse, “And the limo ride was sweet.”

“Thanks for sending a limo,” I kiss him on the cheek. He’s casually dressed in a pair of loose-fitting jeans and a snug black t-shirt. His hair is damp and a little unruly. All signs of tension in his face from earlier have vanished.
