Detour: A Creekwood Novel (Creekwood Series Book 1) Page 35

by A. Marie

My eyebrows lurch up to my hat’s flattened bill—professional attire isn’t really my thing—and I look to Angela, finding her with a similar expression.

Well, shit, this should be interesting.

So…whose book is next? Cheeky Beckett or elusive Marc?

  ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

First and foremost, thank you for taking a chance on me and reading Detour. As a reader myself, I know how many books there are to choose from, so believe me when I say how truly grateful I am that you chose to spend some time with the characters that are so dear to my heart.

Next, I’d like to give a bit of an unconventional thanks. This one is for my children even though they’re banned from reading this or any of Mom’s other romance novels until they’re over twenty years old. Maybe thirty. We’ll see. You three cheered me on from Day 1, never once letting me think there was any other choice but to keep writing. Your support through this entire process was nothing short of amazing. Not once did you guilt me, judge me, or doubt me. If the world had more people like you three, everybody would be brave enough to not only chase their dreams but achieve them as well. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You hav my heart, forever and always. (Yes, hav is intentionally misspelled.)

To my hubby, thank you for unknowingly providing me with an example of the kind of man all of my male characters will strive to be. If it wasn’t for you, I’d never know what unconditional love was. You’re the Coty to my Angela, but without the crotch-rocket. Or the Camaro. Or the roommates. Okay, you know what? That was a bad analogy. I love you. Thank you for loving me the way nobody else would even dare to.

To my darling Shanna C., oh my gosh. Girl!! Do you realize that you singlehandedly gave me the confidence to self-publish this book? I had no idea when I asked you to be my beta the kind of support you’d provide. You encouraged me when you didn’t even know what my book was about yet. Absolutely incredible. A simple thanks will never be enough but I hope you’ll accept it just the same…thank you. Truly. I’m forever indebted to you. Unless this book flops of course, then that shit’s all on you. Kisses!!

To Sarah P., my editor, thank you so much for your enthusiasm with this book. It was a relief to work with someone who got it. Who got me, and my characters, and where we were going, and why. You were gentle but thorough, just what I needed.

Julie D., you worked your proofreading magic and made my manuscript shine. Thank you a thousand times. Seriously, you’re invaluable and I’m so glad I found/stalked you. Did I make that creepy? Sorry, but yeah, you’re stuck with me.

Murphy Rae, I drooled over your book covers long before I even wrote my own. The fact that you designed my book cover still blows my mind. Your work is absolute art and I’m honored Detour served as one of your canvases. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Stacey B., thanks for making my book look pretty. I couldn’t have done it without you. No, seriously, I took one look at formatting by myself and was like “Nope!” So thank you!

Stephanie Rinaldi, where do I start? You pushed me to admit I was a writer by inviting me to my first writing retreat. I’d never even shared my work before and you welcomed me to the writing world with open arms. I can honestly say it changed me for the better. Plus, you know, there’s the other fifty-eight billion things you’ve helped me with since then. You do not accept the word no and I love you for that. I cannot wait for you to share your many, many talents with the world. Thank you for everything.

There are so many people from my insta-fam that I need to thank. Jessie S, love you and your I Am Woman, Hear My Roar support. Melissa Frey, you’re such a wealth of information! So helpful and generous. Ellie Malouf, I had the idea for Detour swirling in my head for days but didn’t tell a soul. You DM’d me randomly saying, “maybe you’re a writer,” and I started writing the next day. So, thanks for that unintentional nudge! Lacy, I just love you and your kindness and humor. You’re a true friend. Kiss my niece for me. Toni, you’ve been salivating for my book without even needing the full details. That’s the kind of commitment I wish everybody had in their lives because it means the world. For real, thank you. Thanks to the many authors that cheered me on when we all know it can be a cutthroat industry. And to all the others that have virtually squealed along with me every step of the way, thank you!! My book tribe may not be the biggest, but I can guarantee it’s the best.

For all the bloggers, ‘grammers, and readers that helped spread the word for this release-thank you so much! This was my first time with self-publishing and I’m blown away by the support you all gave an unknown like me.

To my Nantucket ladies, thank you. Always.

And lastly, a huge thank you to Jo and Give Me Books Promotions.
