Liana was going to explode. The position Dane guided her into made him reach deeper than he’d ever been before. It touched parts of her she once thought unreachable. As much as she wanted to, she couldn’t scream. Miri was sleeping two doors down.

But, the warmth inside her core grew and grew until she thought she would implode. It made her teeth tight on her own skin as she swallowed her screams. She could feel Dane doing the same as he gripped her waist. His nails bit into her skin, the small amount of pain mixing with the pleasure and taking her further.

She stood on the precipice as he pulled back one last time. When he thrust home, she fell over and moaned while the climax took her. Behind her, Dane shuddered with his own climax. His breathing was as ragged as hers. Small aftershocks still made her spasm.

His hands softened on her, rubbing gently as if to say sorry. She smiled at his touch. Dane moved to pull out, sending more shocks through her so that she shivered.

“I am never going to get tired of this,” Dane said, pulling her into his arms once she turned to face him. His hand cradled the side of her face and she leaned into his touch. The other hand rested atop her buttocks in a gentle, yet possessive gesture.

The water splashed over their bodies, washing away the stresses of the day so that only the beating of their hearts remained. She smiled. There were no walls around her heart anymore. That didn’t mean she was a weak thing. If anything, she was fiercer than ever.

Liana would never lose her family. She wouldn’t allow that to happen. She trusted Dane to take care of the border of his territory, having felt the effects of his family’s element first hand. She knew that his people would fight tooth and nail for him, for Miri. And, so would she.

Liana paused beneath the spray of the water. “I’ve lived with my brother all my life. I always thought that little house and that little piece of Snowdonia was my home. It was…”

She trailed off. It was hard, taking emotions and turning them into sensible words. It felt like something that shouldn’t work right, like a twisted tangle of cords that would take hours to unravel. Yet, she kept on.

“Snowdonia was my home. The only one I knew. When they commanded that I leave, it hurt. Not once did I think that I would have…” Her throat grew tight around the words she was trying to express. “I didn’t think I could have this. I have a home, with you, with Miri, with those idiots next door.”

Dane gathered her into his arms as if he could wrap her in their own little world. Her arms followed suit and she laid her head against his chest. They would have to work out a visitation, that was for sure. She couldn’t wait to meet Rhiannon and Gareth’s child. She wanted to see her cousin rise to the occasion and lead their family into a new world.

“I lived here. I led here,” Dane said into her wet hair. “But, it wasn’t until you and Miri came into my life that this cabin became a home.”

She pulled back, reached up, and brought his mouth down to her own. He kissed her like she might vanish at any moment and the only thing holding her in place was his lips. She returned the favor, her tongue plunging past his lips to flick his own.

When they pulled back, breathless while the water turned cold, Liana said, “We should be getting to bed.”

Dane nuzzled her neck. “Mhm, I like the sound of that.”
